My first time here. This sushi bar may be small, but it truly is a local gem! An independent and very authentic sushi restaurant. Fresh fish, genuine staff, excellent selection, great daily specials, nice staff, clean environment, sufficient parking, pleasant environment! Only one issue. They do not serve fresh crab and only offer imitation crab. Most sushi bars identify it by calling it "Krab" I turned it down. It is what it is. I'm looking forward to coming back again! Surprised I haven't reviewed this place yet, because I've been here with my wife on multiple occasions and it's become our local go to sushi spot. Overall I really enjoy this place for casual sushi. They have a bar and mostly tables and booths and the restaurant can get quite busy especially on Friday nights. They have your normal sushi greatest hits and a special board that I do recommend perusing and trying an item or two. The biggest bang for your buck will be their lunch or dinner sets which depending on what you get will very full at a really good price point. On their sets they give you a fair amount of options to choose from so you don't feel limited. More recently they introduced lunch sets for like $15-$17 which come with pieces of sushi and also introduced half rolls for people who are dining lighter, maybe wanting to try different sushi rolls. Their kitchen food is also pretty solid. I like their udon noodles , tempura and takoyaki a lot. Other sushi places advertise or offer these types of things but often are just provided as alternative options for people who don't eat sushi. But their menu has solid food worth getting. New sushi spot in Newbury Park - Isaki Sushi. Yay! I was eager to try this spot as it's not far from where I live and I'm always on the hunt for a new good restaurant, especially sushi. This restaurant replaced an older sushi restaurant RIP. The decor was inviting with welcome banners outside. I like what they did with the inside. It's very clean and spacious (last place was a little cluttered). They did a good job of bringing this place back to life with new lighting and a refreshed looked. Plenty of booths and small tables. Next time I'll definitely sit at the sushi bar. Happy hour Monday to Saturday is 7:45 to closing I believe the sign said. Staff here were so hospitable and welcoming. You can tell they are super excited about their new business and they make you feel so special. The woman playing hostess and server was so sweet. Seriously the best vibes here! I believe one of the owners was also sitting near us working and when we left he gave us a huge thank you for stopping in on their opening week. They had plenty of staff working the sushi bar and kitchen, I appreciated this as they got the food out quickly. All in all the service was definitely 5 stars from start to finish. The menu was also very impressive. So many appetizers, specialty rolls, lunch/dinner bentos and of course sashimi. Prices were average but i definitely ate well (and a lot) for $45 after tip. Pretty standard for a nicer sushi dinner. They do have good combos if you want a cheaper meal but something still filling. The sushi here is extremely fresh and I was impressed with the raw sushi cuts. The nigiri was very substantial so for that I will say it's a good deal. The salmon and yellowtail melted in my mouth. The only fish we thought was basic was the tuna. Just a little too firm. However the other 5 different nigiri pieces we got totally slapped, delicious! The rolls here are also large and well constructed. My table ordered two specialty rolls and we were happy with them. Again, you really only need one per person if you are getting nigiri as the portions are great. I accidentally ordered a roll with cooked salmon (this was my bad bc I really don't like cooked fish on sushi) but even then the roll was so good i honestly wasn't bothered and was able to eat it. Normally I couldn't but thankfully the freshness of the rest of the ingredients and the sauces made it a great combination, even when I didn't read the menu right lol. My friend was happy with her roll. You definitely need to give this spot a try and to come out to support as they are a new business totally killing it their first week of opening! Woohoo good job. The service was impeccable and everyone was so kind. The pace of the food was really good and the quality of the fish is there. Happy to have a new great sushi spot on this side of town. Been reading the recommendations on Next Door how amazing this place is. My daughter and I went for lunch today and I can honestly say it's out of this world! Been to Sushi Oaks, Sumo, Tomodachi, and Cho Cho San and Isaki is the absolute best! The best spring roll appetizer I've ever had! The sushi, rolls, and miso soup were great as well. Had a sushi craving and came by for a quiet weekend lunch. We were greeted once we walked in and since it was empty at the time we picked our table. We noticed they had a truffle carpaccio special so that was the first thing we ordered. We got to pick the type of fish so we chose the yellowtail. It was really delicious and we were pleasantly surprised that it came topped with truffle instead of just oil. Also order takoyaki as a starer which was good, but warning do let them cool before eating as the inside is very hot. I also got a 911 roll and salmon skin hand roll. The 911 roll did have a bit of spiciness to is which is nice as when I order this at other places the spice has never come through at all. The salmon skin hand roll was huge and stuffed with hot and crispy salmon skin. The place was decorated for Halloween so that added a bit of fun to the space. Plenty of room between seating options and the staff was nice. They checked in during our meal consistently even as more parties came in. I think this will be a cozy go to sushi spot. read more

You can really tell that this sushi bar/restaurant knows what they're doing. The sushi was definitely more authentic than other sushi restaurants in the area (which I've prefer) and less Americanized. Will definitely be coming back again and again. Overall 10/10! For us it is a good value and very nice service. It is a good alternative to some of the other local sushi place since they have a nice variety of rolls.
