Seabutter was an outstanding sushi experience. The quality of the fish was exceptional, everything tasted incredibly fresh, and every dish was beautifully presented. The pressed sushi was easily the highlight of the meal. It had an amazing balance of textures and flavors, with just the right amount of sear and seasoning to let the fish shine. It was one of the best versions of pressed sushi I've had and something I'll definitely order again. We also had several fresh rolls, and every one of them was excellent. I doordashed my order and got a BOGO 911 roll which included two spicy tuna rolls with avocado and jalapeño on top and a side of yuzu sauce I believe and it was unbelievably fresh. I'm usually not a roll type of gal. love nigiri, sashimi, and chirashi bowls -- raw fish is my go to, but for a quick lunch in between meetings this was the perfect savory bite. I wish there was more! I did find myself hungry still after a whole order of the roll so keep that in mind. The portions are small and felt more like a snack but it still satiated my hunger and the yuzu sauce was a surprisingly tasty touch. Dropped in without a reservation because I wasn't sure what time I might make it there and I was worried I wouldn't be able to get seated, but there were a few open tables and they did get us in. I ordered the taste of seabutter and it was worth every penny.. I eat a lot of sushi so for me to say there were a couple bites that were almost transcendent, making me wish I'd just ordered a plate full of those pieces means a lot. The toro, the hye and the halibut were the best. It was such an explosion of flavor biting into those. I also ordered the salmon skin fries out of curiosity and they were solid. Service was excellent and prices were on par with other sushi places. I'd expect higher prices for their quality. We ordered the Chilean sea bass, chicken teriyaki, shrimp tempura roll, and wagyu roll, and every single dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The calming atmosphere and scenic view made it even better. Located right in the Westlake Promenade, it's super convenient too. Highly recommend -- definitely a 10/10 experience! I feel like the other places are a little gimmicky or you are paying for the ambiance and drinks but Seabutter is just straight forward giving you good food/sushi and fish. We ordered miso soup, edamame, salmon avo, tuna shashito, and sunset. They were all really good, but to be honest I wish I got 3 orders of the Salmon Avo because it was THAT good. The nigiri were my favorite. The teriyaki chicken was okay. It came with pineapples that tasted like canned pineapples. The chicken was also overcooked. Pro tip - get here early! Sushi is excellent and very fresh! We really enjoyed the different rolls we got. I can't recall the name but the roll with Shiso leaf in it was phenomenal!! Staff were great and offered solid recommendations too. The seating is a bit limited due to reservations but if you get there early (around 5pm) you should be able to get a table no problem. They have both indoor and outdoor seating options. Will be coming back for sure! read more

I'll be dreaming of the Truffle Salmon Sushi and Mr. Krab Roll until I get to come back! We also tried the Albacore Roll, Crispy Rice, Spicy Garlic Edamame, and Shishito Peppers. The Lychee Nigori was sweet and super smooth. Shoutout to our server, Ashley, for the great service and recommendations. The Mr. Krab Roll (warm, wrapped in soy paper) is a must if you love soft shell blue crab, and if you're into truffle, the Truffle Salmon Sushi (2 pieces) is the perfect starter... & you might just keep reordering that! The Shishito Peppers were great, but the Crispy Rice and Edamame were just okay. I love fountain outside, but the inside felt a bit cramped. Although it was clean and service was 10/10. We really wanted some fresh sushi, and decided to follow the reviews to Seabutter. It's located in a "lifestyle" center that are so common in SoCal. It's a small place, doing a very high volume of takeout. We were seated promptly at the sushi bar, and settled in to peruse the menu. We started with a Sapporo beer on tap; they have a little "kegerator" in the corner of the dining room that they pulled the beer from (it's that small of a place). We had unagi nigiri, spicy tuna on crispy rice, and two of their nigiri "medleys"; one with three preparations of salmon, and one with tuna, waygu, and other fish, Both were excellent. We then moved onto two cut rolls (you can order the hand rolls prepared as cut rolls if you want, and we did want). Everything was wonderful. The service was great, the food was fabulous and artfully presented, and the entire meal was $135 plus tip. Highly recommended. read more

My sister and I were hungry for sushi and decided to stop by Seabutter for a quick dinner. My sister ordered the Dragon Roll, I ordered the Salmon Medley, and we shared the Baked Lobster crispy rice. Everything I tried was delicious, especially the medley of Salmon nigiri. Every bite of the Salmon was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, and I really lived up to the "Seabutter" name. The Baked Lobster crispy rice was very good as well. One thing to note is that the portions are small and the prices are high. We ordered very little food, but the total ended up being around $60. This is not uncommon in this area, but if you are very hungry and not looking to spend a lot, this may not be the right place for you. Would I come back? Yes, for a special occasion. A little out of my price range for a regular Saturday night dinner, but the quality is certainly there. read more

My friend put me on Sea Butter and we met up for lunch here. The fish product here is fresh and good quality. We got a bunch of rolls, some not pictured (failure on my part lol). What stood out to me was the following: truffle roll (flavor explosion that melts in your mouth), the toro (rich and buttery), and the Mr. Krab roll (sweet mayo that compliments the crab meat well). Had a business dinner at Sea Butter with colleagues and left with... mixed emotions and a sudden urge for a post-meal snack. The amaebi arrived looking confident but tasted like it had already emotionally checked out. The head wasn't fried enough to achieve its final crispy destiny, and the freshness didn't quite match the luxury price tag. In sushi, freshness is king, this felt more like a distant cousin of the king. The premium sashimi platter featured an enthusiastic collection of white fish and a cameo appearance by two lonely pieces of toro. The toro was borderline, nevertheless, blink and you'll miss it. Service was fine: present, polite, and not planning to write a memoir about the evening. The rolls were okay, though the Mr. Crab was so creamy it filed for dairy status and completely hid the natural sweetness of the crab and lobster. The chef seems to be in a committed relationship with yuzu pepper. It overpowered the hotate, overpowered the fire-charred salmon, and briefly tried to overpower my will to keep eating. First time visiting this small sushi place in the Westlake Promenade, didn't disappoint! Although the rolls are pricy, the dishes this restaurant has to offer is exquisite and like no other.
