This was an unintentional visit. I was in the area to try Ox Bone Ramen in the next shopping…read morecenter but it was closed for some reason. This was close by so just decided to give it a try. The food was ok but the price didn't match the quality. Not sure if this is the standard price for sushi in this area (since it's Westlake Village) but is certainly higher than any of the places I tried in Orange County. The presentation was nice because they put a piece of flower on almost every dish, but that was about it. Just a basic roll like crunch roll was $17. Almost every roll was in the $18-$19 range. My wife got the Hawaiian Poke Salad, and I got the Muzen Sashimi Roll. They tasted fine but portion was on the smaller side. My sashimi roll was basically a partially deconstructed spicy tuna roll with sashimi pieces on the side instead of on top of the roll. Got CA roll and crunch roll for my kids, both of which tasted standard.

I have been coming to Muzen for years. The sushi is excellent , very fresh. The staff is friendly…read more I used to go at least once a week but have shortened my visits to about 1 time every 2 months because I feel the ratio price- location- quality- ambiance is out of balance nowadays. The prices are too high for a small, strip mall , very casual sushi place. In summary, I do recommend this restaurant for its high quality (salmon and crispy rice items are my favorite) but it is way too pricey in comparison to others that are similar and offer a better decor and even views in some cases. I can not give 5 stars for this reason.

This place is my favorite sushi place since going to Japan. If I have money to spend... but wow,…read moreevery single thing blew me away. The service was amazing and the chefs truly cared about their ARTWORK!! Thank you Zay, you are a magician! Every flavor in the plate has been considered and added to elevate your experience- I've never had anything like it. My favorites that I often dream about, the salmon onion handroll, yellowtail with jalapeños, the albacore nigiri. Can't wait to come back

I honestly don't understand the hype around Shibuya Sushi…read more The fish itself seemed fresh and good quality, but that alone does not make great sushi. The rice was cold, packed too tightly, and tough, which really hurts the overall experience. A lot of the sushi was also overwhelmed by sauces, which covered up the flavor of the fish instead of highlighting it. Maybe this works if you like heavily dressed rolls, but it is not what I would call great sushi, especially by California standards. The wait was also frustrating, not just because it was long, but because of how poorly it seemed to be managed. It felt like regulars could walk up, say the right thing, and get seated while everyone else just stood around waiting. That kind of thing makes the experience feel pretty lousy. The restaurant itself is packed, loud, and cramped. The tables are tiny, and there are not many of them, so it is hardly a pleasant dinner experience. To me, this place feels more driven by hype, social media, and people following the crowd than by truly excellent sushi. I wanted to like it, but based on this visit, I would not go back.

We visited this sushi restaurant on a Friday evening with my friend. As soon as we walked in, the…read moresushi chef greeted us very politely and warmly. For a moment we had the feeling that the evening would be great. The place looked very clean and even a little bit glamorous, so we thought we had chosen a really good spot. Unfortunately, our impressions changed as soon as we started ordering. We ordered a salad, a sushi roll, and monkfish liver. The monkfish liver tasted so "authentic" that it felt like it had just been taken straight out of a can. It definitely did not taste like something that had been prepared in that kitchen. From the beginning to the end of our visit, we never received water. When we asked for wasabi and ginger, the waitress told us that they would bring it when the sushi arrived. We repeated our request for ginger, but the answer was exactly the same. When the roll finally arrived, it looked like someone might have started eating it yesterday and they simply decided to give it another chance today. It wasn't really sliced so much as it was spread across the plate. On the very edge of the plate there was a tiny bit of ginger and a tiny bit of wasabi. Both looked like they might have been borrowed from someone else's plate. When I looked at the waitress questioningly, she explained that if we wanted more wasabi and ginger, we could pay extra and they would bring more. I checked the rating later and somehow it has four stars. I'm giving it two stars -- and only because the sushi chef was very polite when we arrived and the place was clean inside.

I skipped breakfast and by the time I had time to eat it was lunch (1PM) and when I looked at Yelp…read moreto try something new these pictures looked appetizing and got me craving sushi. The establishment is kind of hidden in the corner next to the shell gas station and there is ample parking. As I was walking towards the front, I see a sign stating that they have a happy hour starting at 1 o'clock and it was 1259 so I was very excited to see what this look like especially for it being my first time here. This meant that I get to try a lot of new things and a lot more things. There is about 10 to 15 tables inside with different amounts of seating and since it was just my boyfriend and I and the lady gave us the choice to sit wherever then we chose a table with two seats but, had us move to the next one because she said that the two seat ones were for single people, especially because it was lunchtime. She refused to let us sit at the two person table ‍. We got several menus and a pencil with an ordering paper. She took our drink order and we started to explore the vast menu and it all looked great! (I love when they have pictures on the menu apart from descriptions) After she brought us waters, I asked her if the special menu was considered the happy hour menu and she said it's not happy hour yet and I said yes it is 1 o'clock and she looked at my boyfriends clock on his phone and apologized and brought the happy hour menu. I included the receipt so you can see that 4/5 rolls were happy hour pricing. The sushi chefs were 2 Hispanic men and the reason why I mention this was because I feel like most of my rolls had this "chili powder" that resembled Tajin on my rolls and that's what they called "spicy" half my rolls were supposed to be spicy tuna but the tuna itself was not spicy they just had this Tajin-like powder on top and to me it wasn't spicy at all and I also felt like it made those 2/3 rolls taste bland. My bf loves deep fried rolls so he opted to try the magic mtn and he loved it and I think I enjoyed the spider roll the most. Even the spicy tuna on the crispy rice was just regular tuna with no spice. We still thought it tasted good but we will maybe give it another try with different rolls next time. They have a punch card if you spend $50+ after I think 10 you get a free speciality roll. The chefs gave us a parting remark and we thanked them upon leaving for lunch. Our server was a little more cold but kudos to her for handling the whole restaurant by herself in an efficient manner as our food came out quick and we got water refills and she checked in on us while serving 5/6 other tables all by herself.
