We drove up to it and it was closed. But then we turned around and it became open! Little cozy place to get your ramen on. Try the brussel sprouts...they were delicious!

Spicy miso ramen

Very tasty ramen here. Service is nice and helpful. They usually have dragon ball z playing if your into that. It's a smaller place but I've never had trouble getting seated. I go with the spicy miso ramen and add broccoli. I usually add chili paste or siracha to get that extra kick. Everything in it is great. The pork, the egg, and most importantly the ramen! The food generally comes out quick and the servers are always ready if you need anything. Top notch place.

Came here for lunch on a Thursday around 11 am. The entire restaurant was empty of customers up until lunch hour began. It got suddenly more crowded but there were still tables open. The employees seemed friendly and quick. The person helping us took down our order with ease and brought out the food within minutes. I decided to get the tantan ramen while my friends got the chicken katsu curry rice and the veggie ramen with shoyu broth. The flavor of every dish was pretty decent, not the most amazing or flavorful but for the price, pretty good. The quantities were pretty large and none of were able to finish our entire meals. The broths of the ramens weren't too salty and were savory enough for me to be satisfied. Both came with plenty of vegetables and I was pleased with the amount of ground pork and the WHOLE egg in mine. The katsu was crunchy and flaky and it's nice they automatically put the curry on the side for you to dip or pour as you please. Overall not a bad choice for lunch. Decent food for a good price and friendly service!

The place is small, but seats plenty. We had: Shoyu Ramen and Tongkatsu Ramen: Decent sized, but BOTH were extremely salty. I actually enjoy a little extra salt in my food, but this was pretty excessive. We actually had to pour some water into it. The other parts of the dish were fine. Takoyaki: pretty good, I'd recommend. Karaage: It was ok. Overall, I added a star because of the excellent service. They were very friendly. I'd give them another try.

Veggie Ramen

Tonight's dinner was takeout from this little Ramen shop on TO Blvd. I ordered the veggie ramen with miso while my hubby ordered the chicken ramen. Extra charges to mention were for both ramen bowls, 2.00 each for a baby bok choy and a .50 charge for each take out order. The bowls were full of ingredients although compared to other ramen that I have had, the flavor was on the bland side. Could barely taste the mushrooms and the ramen itself had little flavor. I did not taste the chicken ramen although my hubby reports that the chicken was very tender. He also ordered the veggie gyoza which he enjoyed as well as the Yakisoba noodles, with steamed tofu. I oughta add, this is a man who likes leftovers. On the good side, no MSG is used in any of the food sold here. Parking is free although it can be a little tight at peak hours as there happens to be more than one restaurant in this small strip mall.

Taiyo Ramen is located in a plaza with very limited parking since the lot is shared with other businesses so my sister and I parked in the back mini lot. We were seated immediately on a Thursday early evening for dinner. My sister ordered the spicy miso ramen and I got the spicy veggie ramen (I love corn in my ramen and if I got any other one, it would be an additional $2 LOL). We shared an appetizer to start with the takoyaki (Japanese octopus balls). The takoyaki has a nice crispy layer outside and soft chewy filling inside. The sauces and the pickled something were delicious paired with it. My sister liked the shredded cabbage together with it. Our ramens came out afterwards and goddamn, I really underestimated how spicy it was! I do enjoy a good kick but I could only eat half of my ramen because of the intense fire burning in my mouth with every bite and slurp. My sister also felt the intense fire burning in her mouth too but was able to devour it all. We needed our waters refilled but dinner time got really busy and packed inside the small restaraunt and it was hard to flag a waiter down. By the time we did more water (we asked twice to two different waiters and the second one was on it), we already were ready for the check and a to-go container for my leftover ramen. Maybe it was an understaffed night or a very popular dinner spot for ramen lovers but service could have been a little more attentive. Definitely not for the weak on their spicy ramens here ;D

Used to love this place. It seems to not be the same. When I walked in to pick up my order, the restaurant had a weird dirty mop smell. I got home and was very disappointed. The ramen had a huge lack of broth.

The beef in the ox shoyu was soft and the chicken in the chicken miso ramen was also flavorful. My complaint about the broth in general is that it is salty, but honestly most ramen places are like that. To me the broth was more of a dipping sauce than soup, I found it too salty to drink directly. Service: I had wanted to order the vegetarian ramen for the toppings and sub the vegetarian broth for the beef but "no substitutions allowed" which I think is kind of ridiculous because ramen is literally put together with broth, noodles, and toppings. It is dead simple to make a substitution of broth but...oh well. The nice touch was the small Japanese chocolate wafer given with the bill.

The broth is rich and flavorful--you can tell it's been simmering for hours. Their menu is extensive, and the bahn-mi the best I've had. The French baguette is always fresh and crispy, whether it's baked in-house or sourced from a great local bakery. The barbecue pork is also well-marinated and packed with flavor. Sometimes I'll dine in for pho and other times I'll just grab a sandwich and spring rolls. Either way, it never disappoints. Easily the best pho spot in Ventura County by far. I prefer to eat the pho there in person, but the sandwiches and hot plates deliver well. You can order on postmates.

The pho broth is good and tasty but they put less meat in their bowls than other pho places. Spring rolls were lacking a lot of the typical herbs and flavorless. Service was poor. Spring rolls usually include mint and garlic chives. The ones here only came with lettuce and were thus super bland. We also ordered this right when we sat down yet they never came. I had to ask twice about the spring rolls. The rolls came at the very END of the meal after we were super full from eating pho, I was tempted to send them back but my partner still wanted them. It was disappointing though. When we were ready to pay, they said go up front to pay. Whereas earlier they were bringing the bill to the tables. We went up front. There was a long line of people all waiting to pay. I felt disappointed again. I don't know if I'll be back. I'm going to give the other pho places a try before I decide. If I do come back, it's pho only and not expect much from service.

Yeah, by the time we were all done with our All You Can Eat Feast, I had everyone at our table acknowledging me with, Yes Chef! ;) And when it was time to pay the bill... I was also the Bankroller, The Benefactor, The Meal Ticket and my little Citi Bank Costco card took the tab like a champ! Yeah, $257 Big Ones for 4 adults with adult Bevies, including tip for a meal that I literally cooked myself. At first, I was a little taken back, but after doing my research, I completely understood the reasons why K-BBQ costs what it does. So why is Korean Bbq so pricey you ask, especially since you are the one doing the actual cooking? Well according to Google... Premium Quality Meats, Labor Intensive Preparation, Imported Ingredients from the Motherland, aka Korean Spices, etc., and of course the Specialized Cooking Equipment.... All of this contributes to the hefty price per person, not to mention, it is AYCE after all. So I guess $257 isn't really all that crazy when you think about it, as long as you get your moneys worth. Being that it was my wife and I's first time here, and that my wife's sister & husband are regulars, we let them take charge and do all of the ordering. From the Premium All You Can Eat section, we went balls to the wall and ordered everything under the sun. A little Pork Fried Dumpling, some Fried Vegetable Egg Rolls, Marinated Tofu, Kimchi, and what seemed to be endless amounts of Beef, Pork, Chicken and Shrimp kept flowing to our table. Not gonna lie, We definitely did some damage. The presentation of all of the appetizers, sauces and extras was definitely intriguing, especially to a first timer (Me), but it wasn't until all of the proteins started rolling out until I really got excited. Rolled Beef Brisket, Sliced Ribeye, Beef Bulgogi, Chicken Bulgogi, Pork Bulgogi, Shrimp... All cooked by me, right at our table, with no formal Korean BBQ Training... And it actually got me thinking... That I just might be ready to take on Bobby Flay! Haha. Service was good and our server checked in with us regularly making sure to change out the Cooking BBQ Plate a few times over the course of our meal as the high heat and marinade juices on the meat left the Cooking Plate scorched after a few rounds of barbecuing our meats. All in All it was a good experience, and we will for sure come back, but more than likely only for special occasions. For beginners, like myself, I definitely recommend you read their restrictions on the All You Can Eat (AYCE) portion of the menu so you know what to expect. Now Have fun and go get your Janchi on!

The manager here is probably by far the rudest gaslighting woman I have ever run into. When I tell her my food doesn't taste good, she should not tell me that other customers like this. That is not my concern. I didn't ask her if her customers like the food. I said I didn't like it.She should have tried to accommodate that by offering something I would like. My husband is a fisherman. We know what tuna should taste like. I would compare this to: a texture like a vegetable patty mixed with a beyond burger. Gross and rubbery. Didn't taste like ahi tuna. Taste gross. She took that off our bill reluctantly. Told us her customers like it... a lie, because we did not like it at all. Shame on her for her poor customer service and horrible etiquette. Ruined our night!
