Last time I went here I ordered the taro milk tea. I should have tried it before I left. The only way I can describe the taste is watered down milk with a sort of artificial plastic or cardboard flavor. It was awful and I should have driven back to get a refund. Since I was last here the ordering process has changed. If you are paying with a credit card you have to use the kiosk. The employees will only take your order if you are paying in cash. However, they only had fries (standard or sweet potato) at the time, not the chicken we were hoping for based on previous Yelp reviews. We got milk teas instead, which were good. They don't have a restroom for customers:( and the clerk had trouble trying to tell me where to go. At first he said "next door" to which I replied, "At the chiropractor's?" (We had approached from one side, so the chiropractor was the only "next door" I knew of) and he said no and pointed in the other direction. That turned out to be a small restaurant which I didn't want to enter just on the possibly-misunderstood directions of the clerk, so we ended up going to the Walmart instead. I have never come away from a boba shop where my reaction after a first sip was "blagh!" Sadly this happened after my sip of the taro milk tea I ordered. My best description of the taste is sugar water with a hint of unknown flavor. My drink was also lukewarm as opposed to the normal icey temperature of normal boba drinks. The shop had only one employee at the time. A sweet gal alone at the register taking orders as well as making drinks for 6 customers (at the time). Perhaps too much for one person? I've stopped by a few times and tried by cheezo cold brew jasmine green tea (4/5) and tiramisu royal Ceylon milk tea (3/5). I prefer my tea a little stronger but I really appreciate the consistency, especially for the boba pearls. The cheezo foam wins my heart but I found the tiramisu foam underwhelming. There are many cafes like Chakaa spread out amongst Los Angeles and I had always wished one would make way to the 805. Now that Chakaa is here I really have less reasons to travel, and with gas prices nowadays Chakaa is coming in clutch. Okay but with all seriousness, Chakaa has fabulous fruit teas, boba milk teas, and snacks. The menu is pretty large - I'm making it my mission to try everything once, as none of the drinks have disappointed. My top three drinks however are: 1. Peach oolong iced tea with cheezo 2. Super fruit Tea 3. Lemon Iced Tea Everything here is made to order so you could expect to wait 5-15 minutes depending how many orders are ahead of you, but I will say these drinks are so delish it's worth the wait for me. Also they have a loyalty card program so make sure whenever you order a drink you get your card stamped! Everyone that works here is very friendly and knowledgeable on the menu. They work quick to get your orders out and my drinks have always come out exactly how I wanted them. This restaurant/shop is also immaculate - I notice a lot of people bring their laptops to sit and work. Clean space and friendly vibes. So glad we have quality cafes like this in the 805 now. In this sleepy corner of Thousand Oaks, I was surprised to find a milk tea shop. Everywhere here closes early at 8:30 which is unheard of in Orange County. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the cute plushies corner on the left. We came with about 16 people. I ordered the watermelon or strawberry Yakut. I do commend the 2 employees who were furiously working to fulfill our order. I badly needed to use the restroom but there was no restroom there according to the employee. It was Monday afternoon when we came to check out this new Tea House. Fortunately for us, we were the only ones there at the time. The folks working behind the counter were so friendly and helpful answering all of our questions. I ordered the passion fruit tea with boba as I'm nuts about boba while my hubby ordered a mango cheezo without the cheezo or the boba. Told him I'd eat his boba next time ;-) His drink was more like a slushie, tasty and cold. I really liked the fresh lemon and lime slices in the passion fruit tea as well as the tasty boba. As one who is not big on caffeine, the tea I had was full of power! Wish the option of a herbal tea boba existed for those of us who do not tolerate a lot of caffeine however, I especially appreciate the fact that powders aren't used here and the tea and fruit are the real deal. Another something to consider might be to offer a frequent buyer card that could get stamped with each purchase and then after a certain number, a free drink could be earned. You order on a screen even though there's 2 able bodied staff standing there just chatting. Drinks were made fairly fast, they said my name and that was the only sign they knew someone was actually in their store. Not a single "hello, welcome, bye, thank you for coming", nothing. Owner needs to talk to his staff about at least acknowledging customers. They also clearly have no concern of presentation of the store. Last night I came here on a whim because I had stopped by the Starbucks across the street to use their bathroom while on my way back home from a trip to Solvang. We walked in and were greeted by the only worker there. There were some chairs for people to sit, and there were some people who were waiting for their order. The person behind the cashier stopped to take my order and was very patient with me (I was having trouble figuring out what I wanted and at what sweetness I wanted it). I finally decided on their Fruit Tea at 25% sweetness. After placing the order, we sat down and waited maybe 10 minutes before our order was ready. He apologized for the wait, but since he was brewing all of the orders when it was ordered and there were people in front of us AND he was the only worker there, it was no problem! I got my tea and we left. The tea was refreshing! And kind of more on the citrus side. I think if I had a ripe mango at home I'd slice a piece and mash it in there to give more of a tropical flavor. Anyways, I'm currently still enjoying the tea (I just keep adding water and ice in it). I thought the sweetness was perfect! I've had this tea at other places where 25% is still too sweet! Sorry- not willing to wait 20 MINUTES for my drinks, so we settled for the crystal boba that was readily available. I don't mind crystal boba but it's definitely not my favorite. Anyway, call me crazy but the shop should have everything ready at the time of opening! If this means having an employee show up 30 minutes earlier to get the water boiling sooner to cook the boba, then that's what should be done.
