Really impressed with this place. I was doing deliveries in the area and towed in the word vegan into Yelp and this place popped up. Since it has vegan in the name I definitely had to support this place! I got the satay which I really loved because instead of the highly processed soy it was tofu. And the peanut satay sauce was the best I've ever had. Usually peanut sauce is just peanut butter with tahini or something. But this sauce was on another level. It tasted like it was blended with galangal or something. I also ordered the spicy eggplant which was great because usually Thai restaurants serve it super oily. But this was not oily. It was perfect. The Thai tea was also really good. Not sure what plant milk they used with it but it tasted fresh and unique. I also ordered the broccoli stir fry and the papaya salad which I will eat tomorrow. And from the experience that I've had so far, I know those dishes will be just as good! Stopped here on our trip up to carpenteria. Lovely spot, seated right away. Very happy with the classic Thai options, but also a few unique choices. I had the Mee Kati, which was fresh and flavorful. Came here with my cousin, wife, their kids, and aunt/uncle when visiting them over a weekend. It was pretty quiet when we arrived around 7-7:30pm or so on a Friday evening, but that doesn't matter much to me if the food's good. We shared a bunch of different items. For appetizers, we ordered the brussel sprouts and the fresh rolls. The brussel sprouts were great, but really like the texture and taste of the fresh rolls. For my main item, I ordered one of my go-to Thai dishes, which was the Spicy Eggplant with Tofu. Basically, this is an Eggplant with Basil & Tofu. I love this and home and this did not disappoint here at Vegan Thyme. I enjoyed this with some brown rice, but either rice will be perfect for it. Obviously as a vegan place, you certainly appreciate the ability to enjoy fake meats. I'm not the biggest fan of that, but my cousin and his kids did enjoy that. Portion sizes were perfect. You can basically order individually for your main course and split the appetizers accordingly. We were a party of 7 and did not waste much of the food, which is impressive. We were also done in about an hour or so, which is fast given the size of our party. read more

This place is tasty enough to convert anyone into a vegan . My mom got the Pad See-Ew and a Thai Iced Tea and I got the Pineapple Fried Rice and the blended Taro Tea with Boba. The portions were not only huge but delicious and very well presented. Our drinks also tasted very good. I'm definitely gonna be back to try new plates! I love my meat, so when a coworker of mine took me here I was worried! Little as a knew! I ordered the drunken noodles at the suggestion of the staff with chicken tofu. It was AMAZING!! Today was my first time here and I ordered takeout. Pad Thai with beef, orange chicken, dumplings, crispy spring rolls, white rice, and a few sides of peanut sauce. (BTW, PLEASE ADD AN OPTION TO PURCHASE PEANUT SAUCE ON YOUR DELIVERY PLATFORMS!) When I came to pick it up on a Saturday night at 6:30 pm, there were only 2 people dining in the restaurant. I was then wondering why they told me it would be 35 minutes before my order was ready. My first impression walking into the restaurant was that it needed nicer ambiance. The girl at the counter Sophia just said "hi" very quietly with no smile as I approached the counter. With 5 star Yelp ratings I suppose I was thinking the customer service would be a bit better. A kind greeting is a part of the experience. Had she given me that kind experience, I would have generously tipped. My food was already sitting at the counter and I arrived 15 minutes early. After I paid and walked away there was no "have a good day, thank you, or anything from Sophia. When I got into my car, I noticed the food wasn't hot. Warm, yes. I tried each item when I arrived at home. The ORANGE CHICKEN was one of the best things I've ever eaten. The batter was light, airy, and crispy. It tasted exactly like chicken, but better. It was better than any orange chicken I've ever had. My two suggestions would be a little more sauce please and it should come with rice! The BEEF PAD THAI was good, but not like any pictures on Yelp! I did order no bean sprouts, but there were no peanuts, no cilantro, and just 2 strands of colorless onion. I was pretty disappointed, because I love the crunch of peanuts in my PAD THAI. The beef itself was just ok. I wouldn't get the beef again. It lacked flavor. The SPRING ROLLS were crispy and delicious. The filling was excellent and not mushy like a lot of spring roll filling can be. The sauce was divine. The DUMPLINGS were just ok. The filling was extremely mushy so I would not order them again. The PEANUT SAUCE was delicious. I also ordered a side of WHITE RICE, since the ORANGE CHICKEN didn't come with any. Will I come here again? Yes. Definitely for the ORANGE CHICKEN and to try other items. Next time I'll make sure they remember to add the toppings the PAD THAI should come with. They have an extensive menu including tacos, burritos and wraps that I yet to try...but will soon. Vegan thyme is a hidden gem in newbury park. Their location is just off the 101, and it offers a spacious but intimate vibe. Their food is amazing. Their eggrolls are delicious, their chow mein and pad see ew are some of the best I've ever had. Huge bonus that you can have it made with olive oil. They also do great boba, as well as a delicious coconut ice cream. The owner is regularly there and she's really kind. Happy Lunar New Year! Cheers to a more courageous action packed Year of the Tiger. Roaring into 2022, one of my dad's nicknames is Tony the Tiger, lol. He is part Chinese, part Hawaiian with more energy than ever & this day he decided to treat us. Started off with edamame garlic which was so hot we could barely pick it up when it arrived on the table. Hurray because my dislike for lukewarm food has increased over the years. Reminded me a bit like garlic fries. My dad remarked on the novelty "what a good idea." The Tofu Vegetable Soup his friend had ordered must have been amazing. She repeatedly remarked on how good it was. Secretly wished I had ordered it myself. The fresh coconuts arrived thoroughly chilled. Sipped the coconut water which was perfect. Not too young or old. The metal spoon enabled us to scrape the inside with gusto. My dad was eager to get to the coconut meat. He asked if they could cut in half to make it easier to eat. Was told "no." He said he was going to take it home but ended up savoring every last spoonful there on site. It brought him back to his younger years (he's now 87) when as a native Hawaiian he said he had piles of coconuts (60 of them) for luaus & weekly Sunday family dinners. With his 2 younger brothers they had coconut husking contests. He admitted his brother Vin was a bit faster, by a couple seconds. Never heard him say anyone beat him before, ha! How many times have you had greasy, oily eggplant? Not here! The best restaurant eggplant ever. It is not too salty, what a rarity. He disclosed "this is better than eggplant that we usually have in other Chinese restaurants." The noodles were a bit of a disappointment being a bit oily and salty. Requested low oil, low salt. Maybe it was me? I also forgot to ask for the spice level on the drunken noodles. It came out medium, which was fine. We all agreed to return to this vegan restaurant. The best part is that this dinner brought my blood pressure down. Must have been the fresh coconuts. Now what a way to pounce onwards and welcome in a healthy 2022. read more

Used to come here often pre and during pandemic even though it's a 30-40 ish minute drive from me, it is so worth it. Finally came back after a few years and I'm so glad to see they have a bigger place in the same plaza! The interior is very bright and clean with a lot more seating than the old place. The service is always amazing (you can tell that they know and love their regulars) and the owner is always so nice and happy to talk to customers. Moving onto food, the reason I keep coming back here is the portobello fries. I dream about these mushrooms sometimes, they just have the most perfect light crispy flavorful coating and are nice and juicy inside. The dipping sauce is really great too. Same goes for the dumplings. The tom yum soup is sour, light and comforting. Spicy eggplant with tofu is one of my go to dishes and I love how they make it here! The sauce is delicious and the eggplant is so tender (also the white rice is cooked perfectly). I'm usually not a big fan of pineapple fried rice but they do it pretty well here. And the mango with sticky rice for dessert never disappoints. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I've also tried the burgers which are pretty good. They have lots of meat substitutes, I like to keep it simple with the tofu though. Drinks here are also great, love the Thai tea and the matcha smoothie with boba.
