I've tried so many Thai restaurants across the area, but I'm convinced the best Thai food in the county is right here in Simi Valley at Thai Kitchen. I've become obsessed with their curry dishes, especially the Jungle Curry with chicken. I've tried it with shrimp, duck, and tofu, but I always come back to the chicken. My girlfriend is vegan and gluten-free, so she usually orders the tofu version, which is just as flavorful. When she doesn't finish it, I happily step in to make sure nothing goes to waste. The curry is creamy without being heavy, and the vegetables are always fresh and perfectly cooked. Every bite feels balanced, and the flavors blend together beautifully. The coconut milk adds a smooth richness that ties it all together. I always order mine spicy, and it's incredible every single time. What makes this place truly special is the people behind it. Perhaps I will be forever spoiled by the Thai restaurant we went to with a family group last summer up in Nevada City. That experience was beyond amazing - from the wonderful food, to the kind service, to the gorgeous garden setting. Most of my side of the family often dines at Thai places. I missed that influence when I was younger, preferring Chinese and Japanese restaurants. I say that as a way of indicating that I really don't know what I would like from Thai food, because I haven't had many good influences to help me try items I'd like. It is more fun to go with a large group and have experienced diners order a variety of dishes so that you can experiment with sampling. What I learned from the Nevada City experience is that I love a great Pad Se Ew. Pad Thai is obviously popular, and I like it, but the Pad Se Ew with the fat noodles to show off the sauce was a taste revelation. We've tried several restaurants closer to home now, and I'm still missing the magic of the Gold Country version. That being said, Thai Kitchen's version was better than what we'd ordered from another place in Simi. The sauce was somewhat heavier and drier than what I remember loving elsewhere. Still, it had good flavor. The quest is still on for the light hand and super fresh-tasting dish that I'd like to experience again. We also ordered the crab fried rice, and that didn't wow either Dear Hubby or me. He went to get take-out, so I didn't visit the restaurant site myself. Thai Kitchen in Simi Valley, still continues to amaze me. If you look at it, a simple store front, with a small but elegant inside dining area. The kitchen, is kind of open, but you cannot see it, just off the seating tables. Still, the aroma from the cooking does not smoke out the area. There is one chef, also the one taking the orders. At least this is true, during the weekend lunch hours. I visit for the carry out lunch specials, this time, their Penang Curry with beef. Once again, the meat was deliciously tender, not a chewy piece in the mix. The curry had the right viscosity, not overdone creaminess, smooth and silky texture, infused with a simple yet impressive marriage of heat and spices. We tried some Pad see ew and Pad Thai noodles, Spicy basil leaf beef, and TK beef. DONT ORDER FROM HERE! It's same price as other places literally across first street, but you only get HALF a meal, if you can call sauce half a meal. They don't give you rice when you order any of their Curry plates. Insane! And it did not state this anywhere online where I ordered from! When have you ever ordered curry entree and it comes just sauce no rice?! If you eat in do they just bring you a bowl of sauce? I just paid for two "dinners" except, they're not full dinners! Tonight in need of ordering food, I went online and randomly chose Thai Kitchen for to-go pickup. Pricing was great, portion sizes generous, and food quality was very tasty! Want to try something different and support a local business then give this place a shot. Thai kitchen is a hole in the wall family run business located in the harbor freight shopping center. With the Covid-19 pandemic this place is currently operating on to go order and 3rd party apps. If you want to dine in they kindly ask you call ahead for dine in. They do charge a 15% gratuity on dine in. Food; I've had this place twice. It's consistent. I got the pineapple chicken curry. Wish the pineapples and tomatoes weren't chunky as this made it hard to eat. They were just too big. Could have been halved and it would have been perfect. Curry was creamy and rich in flavor. They don't cheap out on the chicken either. For 12 bucks you get your moneys worth. Unfortunately rice isn't included but for 2 bucks you can add it. Boba; was hoping the Thai milk tea boba was sweet but the bobas were hard and tasted stale almost. Would get it again a large is $5.00 and more than enough to share between two people. Best Thai food in the area and I actually get the same thing every time: the panang curry with chicken at medium spice level with a side of white rice and a medium sized Thai iced tea with boba. First couple of times I ordered it was through a third party delivery app (GrubHub) and freshness + flavors exceeded my expectations. Just recently did I decide to phone in the order and pick it up. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall at the First St and E LA Ave intersection. Parking is very minimal. They have all the proper COVID markers on the ground to social distance and everyone was wearing masks. Food was ready in 15 minutes when I called it in and everything was packaged super safe and prevented no spills. Utensils, soy sauce, napkin and boba straw were all properly included. I asked the cashier if they are going to provide outdoor dining (now that it's official for Ventura county) but he said there's no space and if they did it on the parking lot, people would get ran over LOL read more

I don't know what the seasoning is, but it has like a slightly smokey taste. Next time I'm getting it spicy. The spicy eggplant w vegetables was actually spicy and not overpowering. The fried bananas were little crispy, sweet yummies. Only needs a tiny dab of the syrup. I think it's maple. The really nice plus for me was the Thai music videos. We are a party of four senior citizens and we always eat family style when traveling together. The staff was very friendly and the service was prompt. We ordered fish cakes, sour and hot soup, combination seafood platter, spicy noodles, and steamed rice. Besides the usual chili tray, they also had cut Thai chili, which a lot of Thai restaurants don't offer. All of the dishes were flavorful. I can say the only dish I enjoyed was the Coconut Soup. All the rest was nothing worth mentioning especially when they're price point is really high for a small mom and pop place. I was craving Pad See Ew and was looking at the various Thai places in the area and decided on this restaurant. First, I order through Yelp to have delivery to have a contact-less delivery. The food came within 30 minutes and was still fresh and hot. I ordered spicy pad see ew and it was very spicy as requested. If you are not familiar with thai spicy I recommend you get the mild spice. The orange chicken is not the best in the world, but it satisfies the craving. Also, I ordered Tom Kha soup, and it was delicious, one of the better Tom Kha soups at a Thai restaurant here in Simi.
