I can't believe it's been so long since I last visited Khuu Bistro, but I am SO glad I went back twice in one week! This great Vietnamese spot may be tucked away in a little corner strip mall next to a laundromat and 7-11, but it's absolutely worth the hunt. Parking can be a bit tricky since it's a busy area, but once you find a spot, you're in for a treat. The best part about Khuu Bistro is that everything is made to order, which means the food is always fresh and flavorful. Our family's goto is the beef or pork vermicelli with egg rolls it is so tasty and light. It's the perfect balance of noodles, lettuce, cucumbers, and crispy egg rolls. We will be back soon! Everything here is delicious.

My friends love this place and we ordered it for take out last night, and wow it was so delicious. Portion sizes are great, and the vermicelli bowl is DELICIOUS. The pork is so tender and is cooked really well, and their eggrolls are so unique in the sense that the skin isn't your standard skin that comes with most Vietnamese eggrolls. I also tried my friend's wonton soup, and I can tell they make their wontons in house. The egg noodles in his dish were also perfectly cooked and al dente.

Cozy. Authentic. Family owned. Fresh. Been wanting to try this place out because for the life of me, I cannot find a place service Banh Xeo in the valley and this place does! It was fresh and tasty!! My boyfriend got their rare steak pho and he was pleasantly surprised by the "clean" taste and not MSG enhanced. Definitely will try their other dishes which offer a variety of not your typical Vietnamese dishes. I will say service can be a bit of a wait so be patient because there is only one cook, 1 server, and 1 cashier.. Honestly didn't mind taking our time and waiting because it was worth it.

Saturday night we came by after a real intense workout and we were prepared to EAT! The man working there recommended us several dishes, and we ordered a few more, despite his objections that we are ordering too much food--I assured him that I am quite capable of finishing what normally requires four people . We ordered the crab appetizer, fried egg rolls, grilled pork and shrimp vermicelli, the glutinous rice dumplings, and the meat in fish sauce. I love that each time we dine at Khuu, there are so many interesting flavors and the menu features different regions geographically of what dishes are special. There are heaps and heaps of lettuce leaves and all sorts of toppings for the meat, I love that even though the meat is abundant that the balance is maintained between the vermicelli, meat, and veggies. We left completely stuffed but refreshed and refueled! In terms of price, our bill came out to around $75 which I found to be quite reasonable!

Authentic place in the valley to get pho. It might actually be the best pho I've had in the valley!! The broth is so flavorful and tasty. I got the brisket and flank steak pho. It comes with all the toppings and sauces you need. The price is really reasonable, $13.75. I got an order of fresh rolls too with shrimp and they were delicious, it came with a side of peanut dipping sauce. Great spot! Will for sure be my new go to for Vietnamese food.

I had their Phnom Penh Noodle soup. Unfortunately, something was off and it gave me diarrhea which was a shame since it was a dish that had really interesting ingredients. Their seafood papaya salad was superb! They're understaffed and apologized. I can't sing them for that and they were so nice about it. The restaurant itself had some really cool elements like the exterior and the entrance but the restaurant itself was kinda like a dive bar. It's go again but not get that noodle dish unless I wanted to drop weight.

I've been here twice and both times have been amazing. The owners are super nice and urged us to try something different than the typical pho and we ended up trying the crab rolls and steamed rice cake (in addition to the Pho and Bun Bo Hue we initially came here for). All the dishes were flavorful, cooked well, reasonably priced, and spectacular. I would highly recommend you try this place if you are in the area.

I'm baaaaack with an update to the update to let everyone know THEY HAVE BUN BO HUE! Finallyyyyyy!! I've been waiting for the past two years for auntie to add it onto the menu and it was well worth the wait. It's my favorite BBH so far. Super fragrant, a deep and complicated broth and the tastiest blood cubes I've had! Usually I just tolerate them and eat them bc I'm anemic but this one actually tastes good!! I come with updated menu pictures and a photo of that beautiful BBH. Just another reason for me to come here. Like I needed one!

Delicious authentic Vietnamese food that doesn't cut corners and located in a humble Plaza. Quick and simple service with a clean and cozy ambiance. I enjoyed the penom penh noodle dish and their crispy egg rolls. They were very crispy. We also tried the charbroil pork with noodles. It was nice to Vietnamese dishes that we can't find everywhere. It's rare to find the central and northern Vietnamese dishes in the US let alone the SFV.

First time here and I LOVED the food. It was the first time I ordered something other than pho at a Vietnamese restaurant. Well, that's not true, I've had spring rolls, egg rolls and Vietnamese "meatloaf." My food was delicious! And so fresh! The restaurant is clean and cozy. The man who greeted me was reading a paper when I walked into the then empty restaurant. He looked a little bit like I imposed on his leisure time, lol. He cracked a smile not long after and was very kind and sweet to me. I can see why people think he's a hard ass and maybe rude, which I guess isn't wrong, but he's very nice and sweet once he decides he likes you I guess. He liked me! I even got a hug ^_^ Everything I had was delicious. That famous Anthony Bourdain dish was incredible. So much rich, fragrant and deep flavor in everything. I drove an hour to try this place and I would do it again and bring someone so they can try it too! Delicious.

I discovered Khuu bistro by accident as I was in the area- what a great surprise!! First thing I started chatting with a lovely Vietnamese brother & sister who were regulars & spoke French- they helped me pick out things to try! I absolutely loved the pork in fish sauce, a recipe from Hanoi. We also got crispy chicken which was delicious. My sauce also ordered beef broccoli but this one was a bit too salty I thought. The decor is modest but clean, capacity is probably 20 with about 6/7 tables. The owner served us and he was nice & also spoke French :) I would recommend and come back for sure!

2024.08-25/SUN_1000: We were craving Pho but didn't feel like going to our favorite spot in Santa Clarita. We wanted something more closer to home. The only problem is, not many places make my favorite dish, Bánh Xèo Nam Bộ. It's a crepe filled with pork and shrimp and veggies. It's also served with veggies to eat it with. I've always loved for Vietnamese cuisine mixes the hot and crispy with fresh veggies. We ended up finding Khuu Bistro. One of the two places within Reseda and Santa Clarita that makes Bánh Xèo Nam Bộ. We found out that it even supports our Early Bird schedule! On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, they open at 9 a.m. and during the week, they open at 10 a.m. Nestled in an inline, tiny shopping center, we found the welcome Khuu Bistro. It's the only restaurant that had a wonderful, calmly decorated exterior. You won't miss it because it's beautiful. I don't know how to explain it unless I use the word "zen". It would definitely be the only restaurant I would choose there because it's inviting. There are plants and a new burgundy awning. Just calming. When you walk in, it has nostalgic decor along with plants, a very clean restaurant and is similar to a bodega or market yet inviting. We were greeted by an older gentleman who asked us if it were our first time. The music created a warm ambiance. It was great to see elders walk in and you can tell they've been frequenting the restaurant for quite some time. This means it's going to be some real good food. We ordered the Eggrolls/Bún cha Ha Noi, to start with. It was stuffed with ground pork, mushrooms, clear vermicelli, vegetables all wrapped in spring roll skin then deep fried. The outer skin of the egg rolls were like no other Vietnamese place we've eaten at. The mushrooms in the rolls give it such a great flavor. It was out of this world authentic and delicious! We now have a new favorite spot. Completely sold. We love how authentic the flavor of the Eggrolls along with the sweetened dipping fish sauce, Nuoc Cham was also delicious! Luckily, the dish I ordered came with Nuoc Cham! We got the charbroiled pork in fish sauce, Bún cha Ha Noi and the Bánh Xèo Nam Bộ, a Vietnamese Crepe. My favorite! Oh my gosh, words cannot describe how authentic the flavors of their dishes are. It made us completely forget our favorite spot in Santa Clarita. Now we found a new spot close to home! Holy moly, the crepe came out light and crispy and the first bite was absolute heaven. The crepe is stuffed with delicious pork, shrimp, and sprinkling of mung bean, onions and bean sprouts. So different than any other Bánh Xèo Nam Bộ that we've tried. Another great fact is their menu consists of different dishes from the Northern, Middle and Southern regions of Vietnam. This is how you know it's legitimately authentic. They let you know! The other dish was the charbroiled pork in fish sauce, Bún cha Ha Noi. My husband asked how to properly consume the dish and the gentleman showed him. Generally, if you go to other restaurants, it's all thrown into a bowl and you're given a little ramekin of the Nuoc Cham. You eat the dish like cold dipping noodles by using another little bowl to place all of your items of a couple of bites inside it along with the broth/sauce and Nuoc Cham. Holy moly, we were in heaven. My husband was very happy and satisfied. He said eating it the proper way changed the flavor and experience. Another great thing was the pricing to portions. Extremely great. Along with the experience from the gentleman that served us, ambience and authentic cuisine, we now have a new place to frequent. Apparently the dish my husband has was the same fish that Anthony Bourdain had when he went to Vietnam. You definitely have to visit and just know that this is our new spot! We can't wait to try the Pho, if these dishes were excellent, I can't imagine how their broth will taste! We can't wait! #greateats #Vietnamese #BánhXèoNam Bộ #BúnchaHaNoi #khuubistro #mortimerthebear

Came here around lunch time and easily found parking. However it is a small parking lot so it may be harder to find a spot during busy times. The restaurant is small but I find it cozy. We came for the Pho and Bun Bo Hue. Both of the soups were delicious. We also got the calamari for an appetizer, it was okay nothing special. This place has quickly became a favorite spot for us to get soup. The broth for the pho and bun bo hue is so flavorful. The chef and server were very nice. And since we were the only ones there so the food came out quickly. We definitely cant wait to come back here to eat.

Entrée: #43 Bún Nem Nu'óng Thit Nu'óng (Heo Hoac Bò) (Charbroiled Pork or Beef, Grilled Pork Ball with Vermicelli Noodles & Vegetables) - 8.9 / 10 Hot take: when I usually get Vietnamese food, I don't get Pho unless it's raining (I know, I'm weird with this weather / temperature psychological thing). That said, the #43 hits the spot every time. Do yourself a favor & get this with beef (you can choose between charbroiled beef or pork). The (sliced) pork meatball is like a nicer, meatier spam. Throw that on some chilled rice noodles & round that off with some sliced vegetables (cucumber, carrots, daikon radish) & you've got a nice variety of flavors + textures. Bonus points for always getting directly seated as soon as you walk in. Looking back, I'm glad that one of my sister's former boyfriends introduced her to this place back in 2003. It had been a while since I visited my places in Reseda and I wanted to see if they're still as good as before. Sandwich Express did not disappoint! Back in the 80's I lived in Northridge and had a Vietnamese co-worker who was a friend and fellow foodie. He introduced me to banh mi and Sandwich Express, and I'm so glad he did! Starting with their amazing banh (baguette rolls), they're baked fresh daily. They're crisp on the outside and perfectly soft in their interior. Not too dense or thick - just the right crisp and airy bread to filling ratio that you want in a banh mi! You can also buy baguettes to take home. Back in the day they were 3 for $1! Yup, apparently I'm that old... today they're a couple of bucks, but still worth it. Sorry I failed to take pics of my sandwich when it was freshly made, I was just so excited to go back in time to this little corner of Reseda that looks like it hasn't changed! The photo shown is the next day.. and that's only HaLF of the sandwich! The lady at the counter was so sweet! Don't assume rudeness for challenges with communication. I was nice and she was kind in return. There's a language barrier and at first she was shy, but once we worked through the English-Vietnamese translations with the help of Google, I was able to ask her if they sell Kho Ga La Chanh (Chicken Jerky) - and she ran excitedly to the back and produced a sealed bag of their homemade jerky! Not the same flavor profile as the stuff I buy in San Gabriel Valley, but it's a start! I'll bring them a sample the next time I get a batch to see if they can mimic the sweet spice. Theirs is a little more "five spice" forward. I placed my order for a #1 "Dac Biet" sandwich, "extra pâté, extra veggies". That's my default sammie by which I judge all Bánh Mi and I'm here to say that even a day later, right out of my fridge it's still THE best Banh Mi in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys! Bright, fresh, generously filled.. and the magic bread. I happen to know that a local chain of popular phô restaurants buys their bahn (rolls) daily from Sandwich Express to make their own sandwiches and to serve with their Bho Ko (stew)! If you're wondering for reference where my bar is set, my go-to banh mi spots in San Gabriel Valley are Bánh Mi Hue Thai and Banh Mi Hoa Phat. ~IYKYK~ What has changed at Sandwich Express? It's not just sandwiches anymore AND they have a few tables inside where you can sit down to eat! They don't have my beloved Soda Xí Muội (salted plum soda) or the lime version either. Just canned and bottled American sodas, but that's not a deal breaker. Check out the posted menu pics. Bún Bò Huě, Bò Kho.. the owner did suggest calling first to make sure these items are available on the day you want to come, but she boasts that it's very authentic! They even have broken rice dishes with grilled pork chop (Cóm Tãm Súòn)! I read in another review that the original owners sold. I don't know if this is accurate or when it happened.. but I didn't see the older people that were often in the kitchen so it's possible! Back to the changes - they have desserts now, too! They also cater! What?!? No longer cash only, they accept Visa/Mastercard. I'm so glad we stopped! They still hold the #1 spot in the area. Convince me otherwise!

I still wanted the bahn mi's, giving her the benefit of the doubt and assuming we got disconnected. Nope, she hung up on me again . By then, I was only a few minutes from the restaurant so I walked in. She realized that I was the one that called, she gave the stink eye walked away. The older gentleman stepped in, and helped me. Mind you, I was patient and polite with her the entire time. Not sure if she's the owner or an employee, but she seems either ultra sensitive or just hates people in general. I understand sometimes there is a communication barrier and cultural differences, but this woman is straight up rude. She needs to retire. If she's the owner she needs to hire someone that doesn't hate people to replace her.

Love Pho, and this is a great spot here in Northridge. Been here many times and started a review…read moreand realized I never finished it. The restaurant itself has a lot of seating, all inside, nothing outdoor at this location. Inside is clean and practical. It does have a beautiful painted mural along the entire wall which I don't believe was there before, but whomever did it, did an excellent job, pretty cool. The staff is super friendly, the food comes out fast and they come around often making sure we had everything we need and keeping drinks full. Places that keep my drink full are places with great service typically. I almost always get one of the Pho soups, but tonight I decided to get their Cornish Game Hen with veggies and rice, a chef's special. It was very, very tasty. The hen was done with a really crisp outside and super tender inside. I added jalapeños and cilantro as well. Excellent choice. My wife got her vermicelli noodles with grilled pork and egg rolls with fish sauce on the side. This is also an excellent tasting dish and I would recommend either of these as well as the Pho here and pretty much everything here tastes amazing. Unfortunately, I did not get shots of the menu. They are located at the corner of Nordhoff and Reseda. Large parking lot with plenty of parking. Enjoy!

I don't understand the raves and great reviews... but what do I know…read more. The service was ok, not great, not attentive, quite slow. There wasn't even a lot of people there. The inside was decent, at least it was clean. The food.. man, I was disappointed. I hoped the banh mi was going to be good, because we don't have a good banh mi place in the valley. The ones down the streets are hit and misses all the time, just depends if you're lucky. This one let me down, and the server was boasting that they make the bread in-house with their own secret recipe... sure buddy, too bad it's not that great. The pho was a let-down too, the flavor was not great, nor was the quality of the meats. Not worth the try.
