17 . Green Mung Beans, Red, White Beans & Coconut Milk - Chè 3 Màu

1/14/2026: our first time here! I had not heard of this restaurant before today, but after a deep dive looking for the best Vietnamese restaurants in SFV, this popped up in the Top 3! They have a parking lot out front , and we were greeted warmly by our friendly server immediately upon walking in. I didn't catch her name, but she's from Da Nang and so welcoming! A more diverse menu than some of our other faves... and I kept seeing that they are famous for their "#53 House Special Deep Fried Cornish Game Hen Marinated in Oyster Sauce" (CƠM GÀ NƯỚNG DẦU HÀO). This golden beauty has a crispy exterior, and is plated on a generous bed of rice. Not "broken", but still delicious! Drizzle some of their nuoc cham over the rice and chicken for a little extra magic! Order first because it needs a new extra minutes to prepare. We also ordered the House Special Imperial Egg Rolls (CHẢ GIÒ). True confessions, I'm usually judgy when I see egg rolls with the smooth wonton style wrappers rather than the bubbly, blistery rice paper wraps.. but these noble egg rolls won me over regardless! The shrimp and pork filling was well seasoned and delicious! I couldn't decide between trying their pho or the Vietnamese udon noodles.. since we were feeling adventurous, I went with the BÁNH CANH TÔM, CUA, GIÒ HEO at our server's recommendation. It was tasty, had decent shrimps and even a real crab claw! The broth was a little mild until I added some of the juice from the fresh lime wedges and that awakened the flavor! The udon noodles were perfectly bouncy and we devoured the bowl! For a little something sweet; we ordered a Che 3 Mau to go. Our thoughtful server offered to pack the crushed ice on the side so the dessert wouldn't get too diluted. It was refreshing and hit the spot! Our decision to come here was a spontaneous pivot, and we're so happy to have found this little gem! We will be back!

If you're ever in this area, do not miss this hole in the wall viet restaurant. Most people know Vietnamese food for pho, which this place also serves the egg noodle kind, but the main star is this super flavorful chicken! Not only is the food super yummy but the staff is also so friendly!

I like this kind of food but especially here it is quite satisfying to come to eat and they serve you with good education and the prices are quite reasonable, it is a very quiet area and I recommend it for the whole family

Absolutely terrible experience. I took my dad here for Father's Day, and we were treated with disrespect the second we walked in. The woman at the front had one of the worst attitudes I've ever seen in a restaurant. I asked if they had a dish I wanted, and she snapped back "no" in the rudest, most dismissive way possible. I asked about another dish, and she gave the same nasty response again -- cold, rude, and completely unprofessional. It honestly felt like she was annoyed that we were even there. We never even got to try the food because the service was so bad it killed the entire experience before it even started. If you hate your job that much and can't speak to customers with basic manners, you should not be working in hospitality. There's no excuse for treating paying customers like this, especially on Father's Day when families are just trying to enjoy a meal together. Save your money, save your time, and go somewhere that actually respects its customers. This place does not deserve your business.

Great place! Great food! Great everything. They are decent and good! Will definitely come back

Piece of whole chicken that was EXCELLENT

Food not the best. Service really nice!! Ambiance also really nice! But yeah, my fiancés fam weren't too happy with their plates. My bun bo xao was okay. At first I was like YES só good. But after eating it through, the onion was way too big and a little too raw... and skimpy on meat lol. HOWEVER they do have the best whole chicken plate!! Omg that chicken was soooo good. I got a small breast piece from my fiancés nephew and I regret not ordering that lol.

Delicious Vietnamese food with quick service My favorites are their chicken and the noodles dry style with pork and seafood. They give good condiments like their housemade pickled peppers which pair Deliciously with these dishes! Ambiance is casual. Plenty of seating, but parking is limited. There's more parking in the back lot and back street.

Egg rolls fresh and hot! The mint was perfect along w sides.

We just started and OMG..... just the egg rolls w lettuce wrap and spring rolls exceptionally delicious. We also order #69 combo plate shrimp, calamari and charbroil beef over rice! To share... because the size of the rolls was so big and filling fresh. Vietnamese coffee and soda lemonade so good as well! It was worth the drive from Ventura county. We use to come out here before, don't know why we stopped because it's only gotten better. Place clean, music relaxing and service is polite and quick! Highly recommended! We will be making family trips out to Valley again. We usually get Pho! But this combo#69 porridge with mix protein n veggie so filling and the veggie were the best part for me. Loved it! Side note: we've been here before, and it only gotten better! Don't know why we stopped travel out to valley! Other than Covid maybe. So glad we returned and will be coming back for more w family! Highly recommended. We even ordered egg rolls, spring rolls and the famous fried chicken! Our servicer says, Yes, pollo frito so good! we were very happy w everything food, ambiance and services!

Great service and clean eating establishment. They need to spellcheck their food slides that shuffle through the monitors around the restaurant. LOL Food is yummy! Must be, because I have been coming here since 1999 or somewhere thereabouts. My recommendations are their oyster sauce marinated chicken with rice ($13) charbroiled shrimp with rice ($12) and the charbroiled pork chop with rice ($12). Also, the soups (pick your choice of noodles) are super popular and excellent on a cold day! I prefer the steak. For sweetness, get the coconut milk with boba (it's crystal boba). They also have milk teas that are reasonably priced also ($6).

Love this place but I still can't understand how to pronounce the name: is it pronounced "bale" (like a bale of hay)? or balé like (ball-ay)?

Its pronounced ball-ay according to one of the servers :)

What kind of rice is served? I love it.

It's called broken rice or cơm tấm... it's a popular style of rice from southern Vietnam's SaiGon region.

We stopped by on a Tuesday for lunch, and nostalgia definitely did not disappoint. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating, making it a comfortable spot to enjoy a meal. The Jjolmyeon has always been our all-time favorite from the LA location, so ordering it was a no-brainer. And wow... it somehow tasted even better here! We also ordered the Yuk Kalguksu (육칼국수) and Gun Mandu (군만두), and everything hit the spot. The Yuk Kalguksu came with such a generous portion that I happily finished the noodles, enjoyed some of the rich, spicy broth, and still had enough soup and beef to box up for another meal. Talk about a bonus dinner! The mandu was perfectly crispy and paired so well with the refreshing, chewy jjolmyeon. For us, a restaurant earns a spot in our regular rotation only if it checks three boxes: delicious food, friendly service, and cleanliness. Hodori easily checks all three. In fact, I came back after work the very same day to pick up dinner for the family (because one visit clearly wasn't enough ). We ordered Galbi Ugeoji Haejangguk (갈비 우거지 해장국), Galbitang (갈비탕), Tteokbokki (떡볶이), Samgyetang (삼계탕), and Yukgaejang (육개장). I placed the order before leaving work, and by the time I arrived about 15 minutes later, everything was neatly packed and ready to go. As a working mom, finding a restaurant that serves delicious food, offers great service, and makes takeout this effortless feels like striking gold. It saves me time in the kitchen while keeping everyone's tummies full and happy. Safe to say, Hodori has officially earned a permanent spot on our takeout list.

Absolutely terrible customer service…read more I came in with my two kids (ages 4 and 8). They were quietly waiting while we looked at the menu and were just moving the utensils around on the table like normal little kids. I politely asked if we could order regular meals to dine in and kids' meals to go. The younger employee simply said no, which was fine--I was only asking. Then an older Korean lady came over, got right in my face, and loudly said, "NO TAKE OUT!" The tone was rude, embarrassing, and completely unnecessary. Instead of treating us with basic courtesy, she made us feel like we weren't wanted there. As we were leaving, she pointed at my kids and shooed them away from the table because they had moved the utensils around. I was honestly speechless. I would never let my children trash a restaurant, and I would have cleaned up anything before leaving. To make it worse, this isn't the first time. On a previous visit, I watched this same older lady and an older man give my friends dirty looks and a nasty attitude over the tip, even though they had already left 18%. Charging around $35 for a single meal with rice comes with the expectation of decent hospitality. Instead, we were treated with disrespect from the moment we asked a simple question. There are too many amazing Korean restaurants in Los Angeles to spend this kind of money and be treated this poorly. Save your money and go somewhere that values its customers.

If you want to experience eating while sweating your balls, this is a great exercise. The side dish is really mediocre, some kimchee, and shredded cabbage with thousand Island dressing, really nothing special here. The king dumplings has no flavor, it is soft but when you bite it, there is really no excitement to it. The filling is generous but also bland. The fried chicken is just uber dry, some parts of the skin is pretty good, but the seasoning is weak. The beef rib soup is the worse, there was literally no Korean flavor at all, it's just bland in spices and flavor. Beef noodle soup: to be very blunt, this was quite flavorless. The beef was dry as bones and looked like it was sliced with a mandoline. The noodles seemed undercooked and it felt like I was eating al dente spaghetti noodles. I got a medium spice level which didn't even seem that spicy, just a lot of cough inducing chili oil with no burn. Pan fried dumplings were ok. The soup was not spicy imo, I have a high tolerance, but it did have a good flavor. The noodles were thick and soft but they lacked a bit of flavor. The beef was soft and flavorful with the smaller bits of beef, which resembled ground beef, were very tasty. The soup was good overall but felt a bit too oily. The dumplings had a light crunchy exterior and the inside was juicy but it felt just a bit too mushy for me. Overall a good place and I would return to try something else.
