I think I've officially found one of the best pho spots in the SFV -- Pho21 is a family-owned gem that delivers on flavor. Once inside, you feel like you are in someone's home. Everybody was just friendly and ready to take your order. Parking can be a bit tricky (there's a small lot in the back), but it's worth the effort. I ordered my usual -- beef and tendon pho (Pho Xe Lua) along with the chicken egg rolls. Service was quick and on point. The pho? Super flavorful, rich, and comforting. It honestly reminded me of the quality and depth of flavor you'd find in the SGV -- which says a lot. The egg rolls may be small, but don't let that fool you -- they're packed with flavor and perfectly crispy. Easily some of the best Vietnamese egg rolls I've had in the SFV so far. I also noticed they have a solid selection of com tam on the menu, so I'll definitely be back to explore more. This is officially my go-to spot whenever I'm craving pho or Vietnamese food. read more

The shrimp spring roll was heavy on greens and overtook the roll. The Pho was good and the broth was very tasty. They did not skimp on the meat at all. It was so good -- and that's saying a lot coming from someone who grew up in the OC with a plethora of amazing Vietnamese spots to choose from. Can't believe there's nice Vietnamese restaurant in this area! I came to Pho 21 recently and walked away pretty impressed. It's located on a busy street, but you can find street parking on the cross streets. There's also a small parking lot in the alley behind the restaurant. When my friend and I came for dinner on a Sunday evening around 6 pm, it wasn't too crowded. We were seated immediately. The menu has many pages and offers a diverse range of options for Vietnamese food between noodle soups, vermicelli and rice dishes, as well as stir fries. There's also two full pages dedicated to vegan/vegetarian options. We ordered the fried spring rolls ($10) to share and each ordered our own entree. I got the #17 bun rieu with snails ($14.95) and my friend got SV2 vegetarian noodle soup with deep fried tofu ($14.95). We absolutely loved the spring rolls. One order comes with 6 and we killed them. They were perfectly crispy and the filling inside had good flavor. We both enjoyed our noodle soups as well. I was expecting more in my bun rieu like tofu or meatballs, but I think the way they make it here is different from what I'm used to. Still, the broth had really good flavor, and I really liked the snails that came with the soup. My friend enjoyed his vegetarian noodle soup as well. It came chock-full of veggies and tofu. Always looking for Vietnamese spots that serve more than just pho. Came here curious to try their bun rieu. Satisfied the craving and beats having to go down to Westminster or Fountain Valley. I love that the soup stayed piping hot even after being served. But the highlight of the meal was #80 under the Appetizers. A variety of meats that one can wrap in rice paper. I've been craving banh xeo and found that they served it at this restaurant (after extensive searching). Came here on a Sunday around 7 pm. They have parking behind the restaurant but we found a free meter right in front. We were greeted and seated immediately. The inside is bright and friendly. The menu is super extensive! The women working were all kind. We decided to get the #77 fried spring rolls, #84 Coconut flour crepe (banh xeo), #21 mixed seafood udon noodle soup, and #01A avocado smoothie. The food was ready within minutes. First came the fried spring rolls. Probably one of the most flavorful ones I've tried! They had a subtle Smokey flavor. Of course came with the typical veg and dipping sauce. 6 pieces for $10 not a bad price, would definitely get again. Next was the udon. The broth was flavorful and I was surprised by the amount of seafood in it! There were 3 pieces of shrimp, a small crab claw, fish ball, and fish cake. I did like it, but would prefer to get other items in the future. This was $15. The banh xeo satisfied my craving for it but wasn't the best I had ever had. Although very crispy on the outside, the middle of the batter was underdone. I liked how many onions and bean sprouts there were and there was a good amount of meat. It was $16. I think I would rather get another order of the fried spring rolls bc they come with the same veg. The avocado smoothie was good but it was $7 for a slightly smaller drink than what we've gotten at other places. When the main woman working the restaurant came to check on us, I decided to ask what she likes to get to eat from the menu. She recommended the chicken wings. Since we still had some room in us, we decided to get the hot ginger sauce wings for $10.50. They were ready fast. The sauce was delicious and savory. The wings were pretty crispy. Personally, I don't like thicker batter so I wouldn't get it again for myself. But definitely great flavor and great texture inside and out. Overall a good Vietnamese spot. Pho 21 is a gem in an area bereft of many Vietnamese options and serves up delicious pho and kind service. Pho is my absolute favorite meal to enjoy. That being said, I confidently say that Pho 21's pho hit the spot. This was my mother's first time trying pho, and she enjoyed her experience so much so that she is willing to stop by again (huge for my mom who sticks to what she knows!). I ordered my usual, tái chín, and my mom got chín pho. The broth was served hot, and there was a perfect balance of umami, sweetness, herbs, and spices. The chicken spring rolls were pungent and sweet - they were a bit much for my mom, but they were so bomb for me. Their nước chấm was perfect. Crispy, garlicky, a touch sweet, and packed with flavor from the mushrooms and fish sauce - fire. This place was a little hard to find, but this gives the impression of one of those "hole in the walls." The small-business and family environment of the restaurant instantly let me know that the food was going to be hit and it did just that. The service was friendly and quick. i cannot express how thankful i am to have stumbled across pho 21 on the search for a good vegan pho for a friend of mine. not only did they have vegan pho on their menu, but they actually had a whole section in their menu dedicated to vegan/vegetarian options. upon ordering, they make sure to differentiate between vegan and vegetarian which is so thoughtful and is more than most restaurants do. my friend enjoyed her vegan pho and was also given a huge portion of veggies to pair, making it a filling meal! i personally have been scouring the earth for a place that serves bun rieu and i am so happy to have found some at pho 21. bun rieu isn't commonly served at the vietnamese spots here in the sfv so when i saw it on the menu i knew i had to give it a try and im so thankful i did because it was delicious! however, i will criticize that fact that they don't follow through on the "rieu" part of the bun rieu because its not really meatballs, and more just small chunks of meat broken up into the soup. i kind of let it slide because the flavor makes up for it but i would love some actually meatballs in there one day. also, i gotta note that this place is super solo eater friendly. i went on my own on a random night and was not the only person eating solo which was nice to see! parking is okay. there's street parking and a small lot behind the restaurant. i've personally had no problems parking but i can imagine it getting filled up during peak hours, so choose your times wisely. overall, i highly recommend pho 21 and i look forward to trying more things off their menu! read more
