What can I say? Pho was delicious, shaken beef was tender and cooked perfectly, the sauce was flavorful, the service was attentive and the restaurant was clean and well lit. It may be a 20- to 30-minute drive for me but it's worth it! I will definitely be back

First time here and I was impressed by the food and the service from Jack even though we arrived the hour before closing. The food and drinks taste fresh and delicious. The egg rolls were definitely hot for some time so be cautious before taking a bite to eat. I would have wished there were more than two shrimp given. It's in a plaza with available parking.

Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing but the bun rieu I had was not like the bun rieu I am use to eating. It didn't have pork meatball or shrimp paste flavor that I'm use to. Egg rolls are good though!

I was craving for bun rieu & discovered this place. Not many great Vietnamese places in the Valley. This place will do. Friendly & accommodating. The egg rolls were crunchy.

I am still on the hunt for a good pho here in SFV. This place is legit! Tucked in a shopping arcade (I see parking as a challenge). Pho is delicious! It's similar to the ones I visit in SGV (but this place has a smaller bowl). The pork egg rolls are wrapped using the popular wrap--I prefer egg rolls wrapped in rice paper. It co five pieces with only two lettuce leaves. The place was not busy during dinner on a Wednesday night. The servers are very friendly, and the service is quick. This is by far my number one go-to Pho place here in SFV! I need to try out the other dishes on their menu.

Pho is the greatest hangover cure that the Vietnamese ever came up with every culture has their version of chicken soup and I suppose this is it. I always get the soup with the wackiest amount of meat and tripe and brains and guts and ears and eyeballs and it's always delicious. Scored a little Sriracha and some hoisin sauce in there and you're good to go. Service was really good. they have an open kitchen so you can watch your food being cooked. If you're standing up the Thai tea is gigantic and the pad kee mao : hot was so spicy. My nose was running and I love that it really cleaned you out and revives you gives you just the right amount of noodles, meat, and broth and veggies. Highly recommend if you're in the area. It was one of my favorite spots. I went there more than once.

The restaurant got a nice upgrade and it looks bigger and brighter inside. Food remains delicious and the service is on point! Still one of the best Vietnamese restaurants in the valley!!

The place itself is not that big, maybe 8 tables throughout? They looked short staffed because the person cleaning up the tables was also the person taking the orders and bringing the food, while it seemed like only one person was working in the kitchen. Nonetheless, service was good and the wait was worth the quality. They've got some other viet staples like banh beo and banh xeo which I have to try at a later time. We ended up getting the fried calamari as an appetizer and it was surprisingly good like Italian restaurant quality, and of course eggrolls. The eggrolls were fresh and crispy and I appreciated that they actually give you a lot of lettuce and herbs to wrap with them. For the mains we got the bun cha Hanoi and bun thit nuong. I think without the appetizers the portion sizes were a little smaller than I would've hoped for but the taste of both were good. Ambiance is modest and casual, with only a couple people working in the restaurant so expect a slower but no less friendly and attentive meal. I'll be coming back to try more of their menu. Whenever I'm in Reseda, it's really only to go here. Trust me, it's worth the trip since this is my "go-to" Vietnamese restaurant for 23+ years. Appetizers: Egg Rolls - 9.8 / 10 Quite possibly the crispiest, crunchiest egg rolls literally anywhere on the face of this planet. These are the egg rolls by which any other egg rolls that I eat is measured by. Granted my "Filipino Card" could be revoked for saying this, but if I had to choose between these Vietnamese variants over my heritage's Lumpiang Shanghai , I would have to go with the former. Soup / Pho: #9 Pho Ga - 8.5 / 10 I usually order rare steak pho myself, but since the person whom I always go with orders this, we just split a large rather, she's nice enough to me 1/3 of her generous large. I appreciate the simplicity. A pure, clean, chicken consommé with thick, juicy slices of chicken breast. I really only ever eat chicken soup when I'm sick, but I will gladly make an exception for pho ga. Entrée: #43 Bún Nem Nu'óng Thit Nu'óng (Heo Hoac Bò) (Charbroiled Pork or Beef, Grilled Pork Ball with Vermicelli Noodles & Vegetables) - 8.9 / 10 Hot take: when I usually get Vietnamese food, I don't get Pho unless it's raining (I know, I'm weird with this weather / temperature psychological thing). That said, the #43 hits the spot every time. Do yourself a favor & get this with beef (you can choose between charbroiled beef or pork). The (sliced) pork meatball is like a nicer, meatier spam. Throw that on some chilled rice noodles & round that off with some sliced vegetables (cucumber, carrots, daikon radish) & you've got a nice variety of flavors + textures. Bonus points for always getting directly seated as soon as you walk in. Looking back, I'm glad that one of my sister's former boyfriends introduced her to this place back in 2003. I also ordered the combination fried rice to-go--portion size was decent, but flavor-wise it was nothing exciting. Service was just meh. I've definitely had better service at their other locations, which was a bit disappointing. Overall: flavorful pho, good egg rolls--but I probably won't be back to this location because of the service. Good thing it's a chain; there are other spots to support.

It had been a while since I visited my places in Reseda and I wanted to see if they're still as good as before. Sandwich Express did not disappoint! Back in the 80's I lived in Northridge and had a Vietnamese co-worker who was a friend and fellow foodie. He introduced me to banh mi and Sandwich Express, and I'm so glad he did! Starting with their amazing banh (baguette rolls), they're baked fresh daily. They're crisp on the outside and perfectly soft in their interior. Not too dense or thick - just the right crisp and airy bread to filling ratio that you want in a banh mi! You can also buy baguettes to take home. Back in the day they were 3 for $1! Yup, apparently I'm that old... today they're a couple of bucks, but still worth it. Sorry I failed to take pics of my sandwich when it was freshly made, I was just so excited to go back in time to this little corner of Reseda that looks like it hasn't changed! The photo shown is the next day.. and that's only HaLF of the sandwich! The lady at the counter was so sweet! Don't assume rudeness for challenges with communication. I was nice and she was kind in return. There's a language barrier and at first she was shy, but once we worked through the English-Vietnamese translations with the help of Google, I was able to ask her if they sell Kho Ga La Chanh (Chicken Jerky) - and she ran excitedly to the back and produced a sealed bag of their homemade jerky! Not the same flavor profile as the stuff I buy in San Gabriel Valley, but it's a start! I'll bring them a sample the next time I get a batch to see if they can mimic the sweet spice. Theirs is a little more "five spice" forward. I placed my order for a #1 "Dac Biet" sandwich, "extra pâté, extra veggies". That's my default sammie by which I judge all Bánh Mi and I'm here to say that even a day later, right out of my fridge it's still THE best Banh Mi in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys! Bright, fresh, generously filled.. and the magic bread. I happen to know that a local chain of popular phô restaurants buys their bahn (rolls) daily from Sandwich Express to make their own sandwiches and to serve with their Bho Ko (stew)! If you're wondering for reference where my bar is set, my go-to banh mi spots in San Gabriel Valley are Bánh Mi Hue Thai and Banh Mi Hoa Phat. ~IYKYK~ What has changed at Sandwich Express? It's not just sandwiches anymore AND they have a few tables inside where you can sit down to eat! They don't have my beloved Soda Xí Muội (salted plum soda) or the lime version either. Just canned and bottled American sodas, but that's not a deal breaker. Check out the posted menu pics. Bún Bò Huě, Bò Kho.. the owner did suggest calling first to make sure these items are available on the day you want to come, but she boasts that it's very authentic! They even have broken rice dishes with grilled pork chop (Cóm Tãm Súòn)! I read in another review that the original owners sold. I don't know if this is accurate or when it happened.. but I didn't see the older people that were often in the kitchen so it's possible! Back to the changes - they have desserts now, too! They also cater! What?!? No longer cash only, they accept Visa/Mastercard. I'm so glad we stopped! They still hold the #1 spot in the area. Convince me otherwise!

By then, I was only a few minutes from the restaurant so I walked in. She realized that I was the one that called, she gave the stink eye walked away. The older gentleman stepped in, and helped me. Mind you, I was patient and polite with her the entire time. Not sure if she's the owner or an employee, but she seems either ultra sensitive or just hates people in general. I understand sometimes there is a communication barrier and cultural differences, but this woman is straight up rude. She needs to retire. If she's the owner she needs to hire someone that doesn't hate people to replace her.

Places that keep my drink full are places with great service typically. I almost always get one of the Pho soups, but tonight I decided to get their Cornish Game Hen with veggies and rice, a chef's special. It was very, very tasty. The hen was done with a really crisp outside and super tender inside. I added jalapeños and cilantro as well. Excellent choice. My wife got her vermicelli noodles with grilled pork and egg rolls with fish sauce on the side. One person in our group ordered a yellow curry (vegetarian with no tofu) for $19.95. They literally got a small bowl and for some reason had to order the rice separately as an add on, it was ridiculous. I'm not sure if that was a one off or the waiter randomly decided it would be extra, but every other Thai restaurant I've been to includes the rice. So essentially all my friend ordered was a small bowl of vegetarian yellow curry for $20... I ordered the Khao soy which was good, and the third person was satisfied with their Kung Pao shrimp.
