Bun Tom Thit Nuong/Vermicelli with Pork & Shrimp; Nuoc Cham sweetened, diluted fish sauce
Gary I.

Good Pho You: Another word play on Pho like Phobulous, Photastic, etc. The word 'pho' is believed to originate from the French word "feu", meaning fire, which is related to the French dish pot-au-feu, a beef stew, since the French colonized Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos for about 100 years. Pho is pronounced closer to (fuh). Good Pho You in a typical stripmall is strictly a down home dive in an unlikely part of the San Fernando Valley. However, Good Pho You was unexpectedly OK. Some of the flavours and preparations in the Bun Tom Thit Nuong rang close to what you would expect in Little Saigon, Orange County. 1) Cha Gio: Bite sized fried thin, crispy rice paper surrounding shrimp. crab, mung beans, jicama, mushroom, taro on a lettuce leaf. House sauce seems to be soy sauce with a touch of Nuoc Cham which is Vietnamese fish sauce mellowed with sugar, vinegar, lime juice, water. Unfortunately, the Cha Gio was fried under high heat for too long to the point the inside ingredients were a dark, hard, dry mass so it was hard to determine the ingredients listed above. I wish the owner would taste the Cha Gio at Golden Deli in San Gabriel to experience exemplary Cha Gio. 2) Bun Tom Thit Nuong/Vermicelli with Pork & Shrimp: Bun refers to the thin, soft, rice based vermicelli pasta. Vermicelli meaning little worms in Italian. Nuong refers to grilling. Tom is shrimp. Thit means meat but often is pork. Shreds of green leaf lettuce, bean sprouts, julienned cucumber & carrots. Well done slices of pork. Four shrimp on a stick also grilled well done which hardened and dried out the shrimp. Still, it retained a sweet meatiness. Nuoc Cham sauce had a good Umami and provided the major flavour back up to all the other components. Add Sriracha garlic chile and/or the plainer chile purée to add piquant, earthy gastrique. This dish could be in the running in Little Saigon. Vietnamese Ice Tea was more astringent & tannic with toasty floral notes than standard American flavourless orange pekoe tea. It was a good palate cleanser between bites. It's tough to find good Vietnamese in the SFV. The big exception being Valley Sandwiches which has broad competency beyond Vietnamese Banh Mi sandwiches, but the big drawback is that it's take out only. So Good Pho You by default gets a 4- stars. Still a decent 3 stars if compared to Little Saigon, Orange County.

Good Pho You has completely ruined all other pho for me -- in the best way possible. The broth is unreal -- rich, deeply flavorful, and clearly simmered with care. Every spoonful feels comforting and balanced, not too salty, not too oily -- just perfect. The noodles are always fresh, and the meat is tender and melts in your mouth. You can tell they put love into every bowl. It's that kind of spot where you can taste the authenticity and passion behind the food. The portions are generous, the service is friendly, and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Whether it's a rainy day, a hangover cure, or just because -- I find myself craving their pho all the time. Seriously, if you haven't tried Good Pho You yet, go now. You'll understand why everyone who eats here ends up obsessed.

This will always be on my favorite pho spots in the valley! The service is great and always quick and the staff is friendly. There's never really a long wait for a party of two, usually getting seated right away. The #2 and #3 are our go to's. We also love their eggs rolls, they're crunchy and filled with flavor. They also have a boba bar with lots of flavors and toppings to choose from. The parking lot itself is very small, but they're is additional parking behind the building.

I haven't been here in years, was craving some pho late at night and this was the spot that was open. I ordered the little tai or Thai which was there pho with thin slices of steak. It was actually pretty good, I wouldn't say it's the best one in the valley but it definitely satisfied my late night cravings for pho. The service was amazing, I forgot her name but she was very attentive and a hard worker which is always appreciated and I hope she knows it. The indoor dining area is nice as well, can accommodate a good amount of people. I would say definitely try this place if you haven't already

Yes you can be allergic to white onion and not green. Disgusting restaurant.
Lindsey W.

Wow don't go here if you have an onion allergy. They don't listen to customer notes, and do the exact opposite of what you asked for. They were completely hidden under the noodles as well so I did not see them until I had eaten some. I broke out with a reaction and became ill. Absolutely appalling.

The food here is so gooddd!! 'Ive tired the fried rice chicken and shrimp 10/10. I've tired the egg rolls and the pork dumplings 10/10 and the boba also 10/10! The service also 10/10, they have really nice employees

Katherine W.

This place has its strengths and weaknesses. While the parking can be limited, the servers are incredibly kind. The pho is a bit overpriced for its size, the broth just doesn'thave that depth of flavor. The egg rolls seem a bit pricey at $11.95. Perhaps they could offer more competitive pricing to match the quality/ quantity of their food.

Jennifer G.

The food was amazing. I love the broth on the chicken, which is number 11 that I ordered. The service was good and the waiter was very nice and efficient. The restaurant was very clean. The quotes that dance across the wall speak to my soul, infusing the air with a remarkable blend of inspiration and contemplation that I find absolutely enchanting.

When I respectfully brought this to the attention of the employee, the response was dismissive: a shoulder shrug, followed by walking away. While I can appreciate a flavorful broth and moments of good execution, standards matter--especially behind the scenes. There is always a backstory to restaurants and kitchens, and this was mine. The restaurant itself has a lot of seating, all inside, nothing outdoor at this location. Inside is clean and practical. It does have a beautiful painted mural along the entire wall which I don't believe was there before, but whomever did it, did an excellent job, pretty cool. The staff is super friendly, the food comes out fast and they come around often making sure we had everything we need and keeping drinks full. Places that keep my drink full are places with great service typically. I almost always get one of the Pho soups, but tonight I decided to get their Cornish Game Hen with veggies and rice, a chef's special. It was very, very tasty. The hen was done with a really crisp outside and super tender inside. I added jalapeños and cilantro as well. Excellent choice. My wife got her vermicelli noodles with grilled pork and egg rolls with fish sauce on the side. This is also an excellent tasting dish and I would recommend either of these as well as the Pho here and pretty much everything here tastes amazing. Unfortunately, I did not get shots of the menu. They are located at the corner of Nordhoff and Reseda. Large parking lot with plenty of parking. Enjoy!

The ones down the streets are hit and misses all the time, just depends if you're lucky. This one let me down, and the server was boasting that they make the bread in-house with their own secret recipe... sure buddy, too bad it's not that great. The pho was a let-down too, the flavor was not great, nor was the quality of the meats. Not worth the try.

The place itself is not that big, maybe 8 tables throughout? They looked short staffed because the person cleaning up the tables was also the person taking the orders and bringing the food, while it seemed like only one person was working in the kitchen. Nonetheless, service was good and the wait was worth the quality. They've got some other viet staples like banh beo and banh xeo which I have to try at a later time. We ended up getting the fried calamari as an appetizer and it was surprisingly good like Italian restaurant quality, and of course eggrolls. The eggrolls were fresh and crispy and I appreciated that they actually give you a lot of lettuce and herbs to wrap with them. For the mains we got the bun cha Hanoi and bun thit nuong. I think without the appetizers the portion sizes were a little smaller than I would've hoped for but the taste of both were good. Ambiance is modest and casual, with only a couple people working in the restaurant so expect a slower but no less friendly and attentive meal. I'll be coming back to try more of their menu. Love having a place like this in the valley where I know I can get some good banh xèo and unique Viet dishes apart from pho.

Being a huge matcha fan, I was all set to order one, but then I spotted a unique drink on the menu called "Fluffy Hojicha." I got curious and asked a staff member what hijocha was. The wait for my sister's drink, along with a crème brûlée donut and a strawberry donut, was just a quick 3-5 minutes. The first sip of the Hojicha caught me off guard; it wasn't my favorite right away. But with each sip, I started to appreciate and eventually really enjoy the unique roasted flavor of the tea. The crème brûlée donut was a lovely addition - just the right amount of sweetness without being too much. ELNO is located in a building with other small vendors, and there's a seating area that fits only two to three people. I found parking easily since I went on a weekday around 4 PM.
