I had a Costco chicken in the fridge, trying to figure out what to do to "jazz it up". It's been a minute since I've had pad see ew so I thought I'd track some down in the Northridge area. I'd seen JTC for many years but, if I'm being honest, figured it would be overpriced, given its location. I tried ordering ahead via their website, but ended up calling so I could customize the order. I wanted JUST the pad see ew, no protein added, which wasn't an option on the website. Not a problem when I called. The gentleman who answered confirmed exactly what I wanted. When I arrived, the parking lot was a bit chaotic bcuz 7pm on a Saturday, in a plaza with lots of dining options, what could I expect? But I found a 10 min spot open and walked in to grab my order, which was waiting for me. A quick peak inside revealed the lovely appointed tables and pleasant decor I would be skipping for pjs and a couch. So, for what I wanted, it was fine. Jasmin Thai Porter Ranch!!! What happened?? I hadn't been here in a while and decided to visit for dinner. The flavors are still on point, and the overall quality and portion size seem good, but the protein was SERIOUSLY lacking " Where's the Beef?" The beef and chicken portions compared to the noodles were disappointing. We literally found ourselves searching through the dishes for small, scattered pieces of meat. It just didn't feel balanced like it used to. I understand that costs are rising everywhere, but I really hope they can bring back the more generous protein portions of protein they used to serve. Plenty of free self parking in the shopping plaza, but the closest ones are always taken by the Starbucks customers. Venue 4 stars: Larger, modern and nicely decorated restaurant. Not a hole in the wall. Service 4 stars: Friendly and efficient service. Food 4 stars: Excellent Thai fare. We ordered the Crab Fried Rice, the Panang Curry, the Pineapple Shrimp Curry, the Red Curry, and the Spicy Eggplant. White rice is included with most of the main plates. Everything we had was tasty and highly recommended. I'd like to go back and try their other dishes as most everything on the menu seemed very appetizing. They do also have a few desserts including the traditional Mango with Sticky Rice but we did not have any room left to try any. Hopefully next time! Food prices were reasonable. This time, I went with Heavenly Pepper and Garlic Chicken and it was super yummy. Mixed witb delicious veggies and served with a side of rice, this entree was just perfect. So we just ordered some appetizers and drinks but alas their menu needs to be updated because some of the things we ordered were no longer available and the prices went up so their menu iwas very misleading. It was such a letdown not being able to satisfy our cravings. The plus point is they're open until 2am and the server was attentive. There was a funky smell when we entered the place, must be from the spice they use and I don't think they are aware of this. I've had Jasmine Thai Cuisine a few times. Once we sat inside and the other was carry out. The restaurant wasn't busy both times and so we got seated right away. I feel indifferent about the customer service. There were times it was challenging to get their attention and there were times that we asked for jalapenos and spicy sauces and they served it to us in mini to go plastic containers which I thought was a little strange, considering we were dining inside the restaurant. After dining there several times we noticed that the food quality and service was inconsistent. Since then, many Thai restaurants in the vicinity provided better alternatives. That was a while back. However, I decided to give it another try and ordered a carry out of the "heavenly pepper and garlic" lunch special, with beef as my choice of protein. It comes with salad and an egg roll. The description is presumptuous, the beef was chewy and lacked intensity and depth of flavor, with hardly any pepper or garlic. Both the egg roll sauce and the spicy sauce for the dish were watery and had to be discarded. Service was prompt and timely. read more

We love the Jasmine Thai near our home. Accidentally, I ordered from the Porter Ranch restaurant on the Toast app. My husband went to our home one and found out that he was in the wrong place. When he got to Porter Ranch, there was a gentleman ahead of him. He waited for the gentleman to discuss his order with the hostess and when it was his turn told the lady who he was and that he went to the wrong place and asked if the bag that was ready was his bag. Without answering him, she went into the kitchen for 7 minutes. She came back out with a bag of food and placed it next to the existing bag. My husband asked if these two bags were his and she said, the first bag only that was sitting on the counter, that he asked about was our order. She just left our food on the counter for 7 minutes. Was it because I used my $5 off birthday coupon? I also used $10 in points off, because we go to the one near us so often. We haven't even had the food yet. If I am able to update the review when we are done eating, I will let you know...I don't have a good feeling about it. This afternoon, I was feeling hungry and craving for some thai food and thought of this place. So we went. There was no one dining so we were seated right away and ordered. We got the heavenly pepper and garlic sauce shrimp, crab fried rice and the famous pad thai. As usual the pepper and garlic shirnp has always been good and delicious. I wish the sauce would have been a little bit thicker, the crab fried rice is ok, i've had better. however the pad thai was a disappointment! Taste is too sour for me, too saucy too, the tamarind flavour was too overpowering, i was looking for a little sour but sweet and spicy taste. When my mom and I first tried this spot out, we immediately fell in love!! It's nice that they're in the Porter Ranch plaza because there is a lot of parking and it's a pretty good sized restaurant. They used to have this tamarind sauced fish which was amazing and it was the only restaurant that had it. We would always order it along with their jasmine house fried rice and steamed dumplings. They also have really good pad Thai which I feel like is a little on the sweeter side compared to other Thai restaurants. Their Thai tea is authentic and delicious! Something about their house fried rice is just so perfect. Just a squeeze of lime and I can eat that alone! Super good!! Unfortunately we haven't been coming here as much as we used to since they got rid of the tamarind fish but I highly recommend their duck egg rolls!
