Dropped in by random selection and convenience. Yelp reviews were convincing. Small but welcoming space, some simple not minimal modern decor. And they have menu photos on a wall , something not often seen anymore. Spicy Beef Noodles were not exactly Boat Noodles I had hoped and expected. Broth was light, I think missing a traditional ingredient. But still savory and hearty, unlike my last experience elsewhere that was similar but chili and acidity came through. Portion of noodles was pretty generous. Topped with Cilantro and Chinese Broccoli, Cuts of steak and beef balls only which I didn't mind. I still had my fill and some to save for later from the 1 serving. For the price of that bowl of noodles, 1 Thai Iced Tea that did not dilute too fast and good service, I was satisfied and will try more. We ordered the on the grill chicken lunch special for $11.95 each. It came with steamed rice , soup or salad plus an eggroll.. The bbq chicken was half a chicken so it's a lot but it is smothered with sauce so there's no difference between that and the teriyaki chicken. The chicken satay came with four sticks and a cucumber salad sauce and also peanut sauce. The free soup was made of tofu and veggies. It's kind of blend for my taste so we just added some fish sauce and it was OK. The free eggroll was crunchy, but hardly anything inside. We ordered to go, but you can also dine in if you want. Maybe we'll do that when we get the sizzling seafood special. Our order was ready to go when we got there. It's a small place. Nothing fancy nothing romantic but it's good for lunch. This Butter Chicken Rice meal was pretty boring. Even adding butter and salt I found it hard to eat. Very disappointing. I'll probably return it. Really, really wonderful. I just had the most beautiful red curry I think I've ever had. Khun Moo is always reliable, consistent, fast, delicious, reasonably priced, and generous. My husband loves to order different dishes of theirs with duck meat, especially the Spicy Eggplant. I love all of the curries, and the Pad Thai with real crab meat is lovely too. Here's the story of how I found this hidden gem. Several years ago, I had heard that Khun Moo Thai was a favorite of students attending CSUN. So, I gave it a try and was impressed. They have a vast menu that delivers in a small dining in space. This is a warm mom and pop eatery that does a tremendous job. I went back again and this time too, ordered their combo butter sauce special with beef for carry out. I asked for it spicy. It was hardly medium, but they obliged to my request of supplying thai chilies with fish sauce & chili oil. Both of these condiments enhanced the dish. Beef is battered before it is stir fried. Was chewy, maybe because it was a carry out. It also lacked any sauce. The combo comes with fried rice, wonton, egg roll and vegetable soup. Overall the preparation was good. Need to go back to taste other interesting items from their menu. read more

I had seen this restaurant plenty of times when I would pick up pizza from Dominos. Today we were craving some place new and remembered this Thai spot. It's not much to look at but as soon as you walk in you get a warm greeting. The staff is very friendly and sweet. We ordered the duck fried rice; the rice alone was so delicious! My husband was ecstatic to have such a hefty amount of duck in the rice as well. He is normally a heavy condiment user but didn't even add a single drop of soy sauce because it truly was perfect as is. For a second dish we ordered the drunken noodle with chicken and decided on middle level spice. It was also extremely yummy. With basil leaves, peppers and carrots mixed in the dish was well rounded and absolutely scrumptious. Now every Thai spot is different in their spice levels. Here their medium spice level is spicy but the kind is spicy that has you coming back for more. As I usually do at any Thai place I go I also ordered the Thai iced tea. This was probably the best I've had. Perfect amount of sweet and richness. Their menu says they offer free deliver within a 3 mile radius with a minimum order of $15. Ehh ... this place is probably somewhere between 2 and 3 stars ... in spite of my overall disappointing experience, I'm going to rate 3 for now, because I really do want to give them another chance at some point in the future. Their Pad Thai (with Pork) was conspicuously bland - it was quite clear that they did not use enough tamarind. Their Thai Iced Coffee was okay, but the Boba they added was of exceptionally poor quality/consistency - it was not chewy at all. Ironically, the saving grace of my experience was not a Thai dish at all - the Shrimp Tempura. It was battered very expertly, and extremely satisfying. The service at the restaurant was okay. Parking availability was acceptable. I would return here, but I would NOT order their Pad Thai, nor would I opt for Boba in any of their beverages. read more

WOW! I literally just finished eating their food and had to come here ASAP to write this review. I am so happy that I officially found my go to Thai spot!! I've been looking for a Thai food spot that is close by, authentic dishes bursting with flavors AND affordable... this place checks all that and then some. We ordered the beef Penang, basil duck, combination chow mein and cream cheese wontons. Everything was cooked to perfection, the flavors were on point, generous portions and overall delicious dishes. The only thing we probably won't order again is the chow mein. The Penang is our new favorite, hands down the best I've had in a long time, the flavor is just divine. Plus they didn't overcook the beef so it was still tender. The basil duck came with bamboo shoots, basil, onion, duck and peppers. There was great ratio to veggies and duck meat. The food delivery was quick, however that's just all about the positive this about the experience. The food was so bland, and flavorless, the pad see ew noodles were colorless and was 90% just noodles. The yellow curry had decent flavors but my serving was mostly potatoes with a measly serving of meat. Overall a disappointing experience. I live very close to Khun Moo and have been eating their food for years, but have never written a review. We mostly get the same items but have never had a bad dish. The last time we ordered from Khun Moo we got Chicken Larb and Chicken Drunken Noodles. Their larb is so fresh and flavorful I could eat it almost every day. I quite often get nam sod, which is quite similar to larb, however it has peanuts and fresh ginger strips, which the larb does not have. They are both delicious. The drunken noodles are always very good with a nice variety of fresh vegetables. I have never eaten inside the restaurant, however in picking up food the ambiance is typical of most Thai restaurants. It is decorated nicely but sparse. The person taking my order over the phone is always very pleasant and helpful, as well as the entire staff. I waited like 10 min and then got my food and went my way. When I got to the office I was excited to try this since our postman told me how great it was. When I opened it it smelled like it was burnt and when I tried it it was very bland lacked some flavor. Had to add soy sauce and chili paste to give it flavor. Pad Ka Prow doesn't come with much veggie variety, unless you order it as veggie (not tofu or meat). That added napa cabbage, carrots, broccoli, and a bit of asparagus. The sauce was very tasty. Ordered both dishes medium to spicy (a bit spicier than medium), and the spice level was perfect for my husband (the picky one; I added a bit of hot sauce from the table to mine). The Green Curry came with a lot of white meat chicken, along with green pepper, bamboo, and eggplant. If I have any criticism, I wish there had been a bit more eggplant instead of chicken, but that's just me. All of the above and they let you substitute brown for white rice (for $1 extra), and this is a place I love! read more
