Chicken chow mein and beef drunken noodle dishes
Cece L.

Had a hard time finding this gem but it was worth driving around for a bit until I found them. They have a free lot next door so keep your eyes peeled. We were welcomed and told to sit anywhere upon arrival. Tables were clean and well arranged. We had our order taken quickly and got our food pretty fast. The restroom key is needed for access which is a good sign. Our food was warm and well prepared. I thought it was delicious and almost felt homemade. Service was friendly and efficient. I would go back in a heartbeat. Thanks for a delicious and friendly experience. Portions are big. We had to take leftovers home.

Was skeptical at first but the prices for the portions are very reasonable. Flavors were there and service was attentive and had your classic Thai Offerings like Tom Yum, Tom Kha, Pad Thai, and so much more. The combination fried rice was packed with flavor and had chicken, beef, and shrimp. Really good.

I recently dined at Spice Up Thai and was thoroughly impressed by both the exquisite cuisine and the impeccable service. The menu showcased a variety of thai dishes, blending bold flavors and beautiful presentations. The attentive and knowledgeable server ensured that our meal was a memorable one, providing excellent recommendations and ensuring our satisfaction. Pad thai: 10/10 more than enough was served. Amazing flavors over all. Spicy Basil: 10/10 so many flavor in the thick both love the thai leaves as well. The dumplings for the appetizer and thai Thea to wash it all down. Everything was great I'd definitely recommend this spot!

Some of the best Thai food I've tried in the U.S. - especially the Tom Yum noodle soup was incredibly flavorful with the right amount of acidity. Would come back again

Veggie chow mein

Ahhhhhh jumping up and down with joy!!!! I am so happy this restaurant reopened. This is our go to spot for many years. The owner and cooks are so nice and very accomodating. We would come here weekly when they were located on Chatsworth and Balboa, they had closed down and they have now moved to Mission Hills. The food here is so good, I really enjoy the Tom Kha soup, the chow mein, roti curry, veggie fried rice, I mean they have so much to choose from. The restaurant is clean and we love coming here.

I'm really happy that I found Spice Up Thai bc there food is pretty delicious Service is great, they're friendly & the music is pretty eclectic which is fun bc I was presently surprised at what was going to play next. My boyfriend & I have gone twice so far & we absolutely love their: - Orange chicken 5/5 - Pad see ew 5/5 - Tom yum soup 5/5 - Tom Kha 5/5 Yellow chicken curry w veggies 3/5 a little watery for me I thought we had gotten their fried wonton's before & my bf reminded me that we ordered them a diff time from a diff place after I had already ordered them 1/5 not enough stuffing for the amount of fried wonton there is

Walk in & no one is sitting down eating the music is blasting Notorious B.I.G. Walk up to the counter and out comes a man over worked and asked me what I want. Politely tell him I need another two minutes to view the menu. By the way he's also the only one answering phone and running back and forth to the kitchen. I ordered Pad See Ew and Steamed Chicken Dumplings. I have a seat and start noticing that this places is out dated and definitely needs some work. A woman appears from the back and shouts at the man to answer the phone. At first I thought maybe she doesn't speak English since I said hello to her and smiled while she put two drinks at my table I didn't order. She doesn't make eye contact and doesn't say anything back: extremely rude and made me feel awkward. Phone rings again and shouts out to him the phone is ringing and to call the customer back. dumplings 3/5 pad see ew: 3/5 I have been here 3 times and I've had the pad see ew 2 times and I still think they are below average on flavor. I once had the orange chicken and that's incredibly delicious and worth it. The dumplings didn't taste out of this world and I'd never recommend anyone to get them. You lost me as a customer. 06/21/24

Cute little restaurant, neat and clean. Service is fast and courteous but the food itself is mid-range. Authentic, but flavors are ok. I would recommend as a solid pick for a first time Thai experience. White Rice was a bit dry, costs extra We had Pad Thai, Pineapple Fried Rice, Nam ploy? Beef Salad(served with uncooked cabbage leaf quarter chunk) not really recommended), Chkn satay, Yellow Curry.

Never get deceived by external appearance, how true this is and especially for this place. We were driving from LA to SFO and it was about time for lunch, we looked up for a thai food place nearby and we saw this place was not too far from freeway, so we added a stop. When we came near the restaurant, the place outside didnt look great but as usual I trusted yelp and went inside this place. The service is quick and we ordered grilled veggies and kung pao chicken. I ordered the iced coffee too. Except for the iced coffee which was way too sweet, everything else tasted so good. The veggies were cooked so well with their sauces and tasted delicious. The side of brown rice was also unique and tasted great. We were glad that we decided to stop here and try this place.

They were friendly and attentive even though they were so busy for a Friday late afternoon. We ordered take out for party of 7. The food items we ordered were 3 Swai Grilled Plates, House Ahi Poke Bowl, Honey Chicken Citrus Bowl, Lobster Roll Plate and Kids Mac and Cheese. Our food was ready within 15-20 minutes, hot freshly cooked and nicely packed. The serving portions were of good amount. It's not in abundance and definitely not lacking. It was more than enough. The Swai Grilled Plate was flavorful and the white fish was not overcooked. We will definitely order this again along with the other food items on our order. The Lobster Roll Plate was tasteful. The Honey Chicken Citrus Bowl was unique in taste. My favorite is the House Ahi Poke Bowl. We can't wait to try other food items on their menu. Like ma'am I'm not across the street I'm in front of you... It literally felt like she was yelling at me over a SCREEN. Eventually a whole like 20 minutes later my order comes and she asks "what sauce you want"?and I asks "what do you have"? and she goes "RIGHT THERE' like jeez my apologies for not having the sauce menu memorized. I'm so glad it came up in the search because I've driven past this location so many times and never noticed it! Sylmar's fix is located on a corner where there is a large sign for the Mercado Neighborhood Market on the building. Parking can be really busy in this area and you may have to have a short walk, but I got lucky the sidewalk was empty right next to the store. I would only have to say that the street and sidewalk are pretty dirty with litter so just watch your step. I ordered the Color Me Green Juice and the Chicken Pesto Panini for myself, and the Penne Alfredo Pasta for a friend and took them to go. My Chicken Pesto Panini tasted amazing! The chicken is chopped up into smaller pieces which allows the sauce to be all over inside the sandwich so you get an equal amount of sauce and chicken with every bite. I love the bread it's crunchy but easy to bite into and this sandwich was VERY fulfilling! The Color Me Green Juice is very delicious, freshly made and all I did when I got home was add some ice to make it colder. I was lucky my friend let me have some of the Penne Alfredo Pasta because WOW, that is the creamiest Alfredo pasta I've ever had! That was so warm and tasty! The only problem with this place is that it's on my driving route many days of the week so they might be seeing a whole lot more of me there in the future!!!!!

The space is large and open, with lots of tables that can accommodate different party sizes, and the music set a nice, relaxed vibe. The food was great. We tried the crunchy French toast topped with banana, Nutella, and strawberries -- BOMB. We also ordered the breakfast sausage bagel, which was satisfying and perfect if you want something filling without being too heavy. The orange juice tasted fresh, which is always a plus. The only thing I'd suggest improving is the coffee -- unfortunately, it wasn't great. Service-wise, the staff was friendly and organized. Each waitress handled her own section, and everything from the tables to the floors was clean. As for pricing: tip was not included (as of Feb 2026). We paid $44 for two breakfasts and two drinks, which feels fair for the current market. Will I come back? YES.

The only items that didn't end up in the trash were the churro and the tiramisu. Everything else was dry, stale, or hard enough to make you question how long it had been sitting there. The lemon bar and apple bar tasted like they'd been aging in a display case for days. The cakes were so dry they practically crumbled into dust. Freshness clearly isn't a priority here, which honestly isn't surprising when the menu looks like a novel. When a place tries to offer a hundred different desserts, quality is usually the first thing to go. For a bakery/dessert shop, freshness is the bare minimum. Charging premium prices for what tasted like leftovers is unacceptable. We were excited to treat ourselves -- instead, we threw most of it away. Save your money. There are plenty of places that actually bake fresh desserts and don't rely on an overloaded menu to hide declining quality.

There's parking at the back, and from the front it looks like there's no place to sit but there is in the back (outdoor seating). It's not for super large groups, but I would say up to 10 people. They have falafel, kabobs, and shish- the difference between shish and kabobs is that shish are skewers with pieces and kabobs are the minced meat. I prefer the kabobs because I feel like they're softer. I don't eat beef so between the lamb and chicken, I prefer the chicken here. Falafel was also yummy. On a plate, they give you hummus, rice or potatoes option, protein, pita, veggies (can choose between tomato or pepper or both for extra). They have a variety of sauces - my personal faves are the red sauce and garlic yogurt. I've tried the hot herbal sauce with labneh and this is the spiciest on their menu. It's kind of like a green chili paste, but spice is all it is. It's not really as flavorful as the red pepper sauce which is both spicy and flavorful. One thing to note though is that the service here is pretty slow. I think probably because they need to grill it fresh.
