Had a very pleasant visit. My daughter suggested we go and turn it into a relaxed lunch and study for school visit. Very nice and comfortable atmosphere with plenty of seating. Very friendly and warm staff and fantastic service. I ordered a blended iced Mocha and the chicken rice teriyaki bowl and my daughter ordered Strawberry slushy and pot stickers. The drinks and food were fantastic and we knocked out a productive two hour study/lunch session. Really not too busy but there was a steady stream of customers who looked like regulars coming for a delicious lunch and drinks. Very popular spot my high school daughter told me. I didn't know what to expect but this place is adorable!!! The decor is quaint, cozy, there's games and a little gift shop. This is such a nice place to just relax. I ordered food and I was shocked. The portions were perfect considering how cheap the food is. The sauce on my perfectly crisp but not over cooked tofu was an allspice soy sauce. So good!!! Perfectly seasoned. This is a lovely mom and pop. I would be so interested to try more food. They had a ton of option for meat eaters and vegans for any mood! Might come back for some spring rolls next time. read more

What a delightful spot you are, 118 Cafe! Tried this place out today and from their extensive menu to their great prices, I was very impressed. Got the crispy pork chop combo that came with white rice and a generous side of veggies, which included cabbage, carrots, and broccoli. The combo included your choice of black or green iced tea, which was forgotten (but not that big a deal). The pork chop was cooked to perfection -- the flavor was there and it had the best crunch with every bite. The rice and veggies were plentiful, and were cooked perfectly. I also ordered a Vietnamese iced coffee and shared popcorn chicken with my group. The Vietnamese iced coffee was not as intense or too strong as some places make it -- it was the perfect amount of sweetness and just strong enough. The popcorn chicken was also very good, and would have been great accompanied by a sweet and spicy dipping sauce. I tried a bite of the teriyaki chicken and it was sooo good. The chicken was juicy and the teriyaki sauce wasn't overpowering. The ambiance of the place is cute -- it's actually quite a big space. Half of the spot is a store, which made waiting for food to be ready much more fun. Definitely going to be getting food from here again. The quality is outstanding, the portions are generous and the price is very reasonable. Can't wait to try more of the yummy-sounding items on the menu! read more

Wow what a great surprise. I had the pork chop rice bowl and it was delicious. My friend had the chicken curry bowl and she loved it. We shared a Asian style shaved ice bowl - shaved ice with red bean, egg pudding, rainbow jelly and condensed milk and it was amazing. A woman named Isa helped us and she was very friendly, welcoming and helpful to us in navigating the extensive menu. It seems to be a nice safe place for young adults to hang out. There is a wide variety of board games and cards to play with. There were different teens in here during the 45 minutes or so we were here, all polite and having fun. Yet another surprise was the many hand made items for sale including strings of cranes, a gorgeous canvas with handmade papers formed into hearts making a beautiful heart - it'll look great on my wall! Pillow covers, homemade lei's FOR THE GRADUATE and much much more. Jocelyn Robertshaw of J Tanaka Designs makes these things and they are really beautiful and unique. There is also a beautiful selection of succulents set into driftwood made by Coastal Resurgence Succulents. So go for the food, or tea or boba or whatever and enjoy some shopping while you're at it. We are new to Simi Valley and stumbled in after working out at the gym next door. The cafe is cute, has family friendly board games and the owner is incredibly sweet. My daughters got a smoothie with popping boba, and I got a coconut tea and crispy tofu avocado and rice bowl. Everything was DELICIOUS and my daughters (2 and 4 years old) even loved tofu bowl. The prices are extremely affordable which is always a bonus. This looks like it's going to be our go to place for us to have dinner after the gym and I look forward to many more visits here!! read more

We ordered a jasmine green tea and the lady came out with jasmine milk teas. My bf and i were confused as we did not order milk tea but the lady said we did order milk tea. She didn't even care to switch the order for us And bf clearly said jasmine green tea and to make sure it was sweetened but she said "oh you want smoothie?" Both my bf and i pretty much kept saying SWEETENED and she kept hearing smoothie. We were pissed that she instigated we said milk tea and didn't bother to change it. Isa, my bf and i don't drink milk tea so maybe you heard wrong too just like you insisted we wanted smoothie. We wouldn't just put a negative review just because we could. I love this local cafe so much. It's got a great variety of breakfast, snacks, Asian entrees and drinks. Everything I've ordered has been excellent tasting and value. From the egg/bacon/avocado croissant, fried rice with spam, tofu with pork, ramen/udon to the Korean bbq- it's been great. The owner/chef is so sweet and makes everything fresh. The Thai ice tea, boba drinks, smoothies and coffees are also excellent. The service and staff are always fantastic every single time. The atmosphere is very relaxed and enjoyable. There's WiFi and couches to lounge on or tables to study at. Next to these tables are a nice selection of board games. There's even a large selection of magazines and newspapers to read from. On some nights there are different events such as martial arts movie viewings and live comedy. Cute little cafe serving boba drinks and some food. I got the Peach mango slushie (with boba of course) and boiled potstickers. The Boba was actually pretty good, better than I would expect for Simi. For $2.99, it was reasonably priced and you could taste both the peach and mango flavor. My only complaint was that it should have been better mixed so I wasn't left with mostly ice at the end but not bad. The boba itself was average, not as great as some of the other places I have gone to (Cha for Tea comes to mind) but for convenience, definitely not bad. The potstickers were decent. They tasted good and I enjoyed them but I could have probably gotten something similar out of a frozen case at the store and for that, I think they cost a bit too much. The store is nice, with magazines and board games and such. Lots of seats too so I felt like I could stay and relax for a bit. I just didn't know if I should leave my plate and stuff or take it. I sort of wish the staff would have come and picked it up but I guess they didn't want me to feel like they were asking me to leave. read more

I ordered Vietnamese iced coffee, i knew I expected a sweet coffee that usually has condensed milk but this one tasted like they poured tons of liquid sugar in it, and even the coffee doesn't taste good either to begin with. Popcorn chicken. How can you fail on this simple fried food? Bland, comes in small portion. Rice with minched pork. Basically, either they put too much water when cooking the rice, or they served it right after the rice cooker goes off (ready).. it's mushy. To get things down another level the juice from the pork just drenched into it. Waited for a legit 25 minutes for everything while watching other ppl that are ordering simple drinks have to wait for about 10 minutes.. Must be nuts during peak hours. Those young ladies were pretty slow and unconvincing. So yeah, it's a no from me. Sorry! read more

Long overdue review. I'm in here every other day for pretty much the same thing. Crispy veggie potstickers and honey green tea (not too sweet). I often call in my order and the super sweet lady Isa always remembers my name and remembers my order. She is a genuine sweetheart. Next level Customer service. My go-to boba place in Simi. After trying Boba in west LA for the first time when I was about 16, I was shocked (and am honestly still a little surprised) to find I could get a similar experience right in my hometown. The boba always tastes delicious and fresh and the drink and snack menu is very extensive. I haven't tried many of the foods, other than occasional random bites from friends' orders, but I've had plenty of the drinks. My favorites are the taro, jasmine, and thai teas with regular boba. I also like the coffee drinks, though they can be really sweet and milky. I have never had a negative customer service experience here. Sometimes, there can be a bit of a wait, but that's very rare! The storefront is modest and in a strip mall, big parking lot, nothing exciting. Inside, there's a small store with interesting gift type of things for sale, an area with games and magazines and comfortable couches to sit on, and a few tables scattered throughout. It seems like both a good place to do some work or to hang out with friends. The crowd does tend to skew younger (like high school age), so I wouldn't count on it to be particularly quiet during afternoons/evenings. read more

I used to come here with a few friends years back and always enjoyed it. I moved here to Simi at the beginning of the year and realized I live just up the street! Upon returning it was safe to say nothings changed, and that's a good thing! Thai iced tea is one of my favorite drinks so of course I had to get that! I would say it's hard to mess up tea, but I have had bad tea before, so it was a wonderful relief that the tea here is fantastic. I also ordered the Korean BBQ pork bowl and a red bean bun (part of their limited May menu). The pork is nice, tender and very flavorful with the tangy sauce that comes on it with rice. The order of red bean buns come with two small buns. The bun itself is nice and soft and the red bean is decently sweet. My girlfriend ordered the eel and rice bowl, and to my surprise the eel was wonderfully crispy and succulent! The staff are always friendly and when giving you your food always ask if you need anything like soy sauce, Sriracha or chopsticks! Lovely, warm and welcoming ambience with a nice selection of music. The loop of Mr. Krabs on the TV was a silly touch . Definitely a 5 star little cafe! If I could suggest anything, perhaps replace the couches, they're a little run down. read more

I won't be back to this establishment. Happened to be in the area and decided to stop for a quick bite. For one, they OVERCHARGED ME. My food was originally supposed to be $21 in which they input it at that at first in the system. Then it went up to $25 and they changed it again to $26. I asked them what happened and they said they put something in wrong which didn't make sense. Asked for the itemized receipt and noticed they charged me extra. If a business does not state what they are charging you for DO NOT GO THERE. As a first timer it is best to vocalize what the prices are (if different), as well as "by the way this will be an extra charge". Please do better and work on your people skills. Then on top of that the prices on the menu are different than what they charged me for. AND very small portion of food and dry. If i could give it 0 stars I would. I will be getting my money back.
