Bun Bo Hue is one of my favorite Vietnamese noodle soups, so I was very excited to try Vua Bun Bo with my parents recently. The restaurant was small but nice and clean. Our server wasn't that friendly, but the food came out pretty fast. I ordered the large Bun Bo Hue with a side of meatballs, and my parents each got the large Bun Bo Nam. They were definitely on the pricier side for Vietnamese noodles. The bowls were pretty big, but it was mostly just broth, so they looked a lot bigger than they actually were. The noodle and meat portions were okay, not that much for the bowl. Upon tasting the broth, the taste was not bad but not good. We thought the broth was a bit lacking and a bit watered down, and the flavors were not very deep. The meats at least were tender. I had really high expectations for Vua Bun Bo after seeing so many good reviews about this place, but we left pretty disappointed. Overall, we were not impressed. Now, even though the line is long, the wait goes by surprisingly fast with the restaurant turning over tables quickly! We tried the bun bo hue, banh canh thap cam, banh mi bo kho. All of dishes were stellar. The bun bo hue broth was super rich and had a great deep flavor. It was also paired with the typical veg you can expect to have when eating bun bo hue. Banh canh thap cam had a generous portion of meat and seafood, with thick udon-like noodles. The broth was very clean tasting, a little bland for my taste but still great. Note that this banh canh is not the thick gelatinous kind that some may be used to, regardless, still great. Banh mi bo kho is a classic and while delicious, the portion was smaller than expected and was also plated in a plate-type dish, rather than a bowl which I found a bit odd. I'm not gonna the biggest fan of BBH, but majority rules so I found myself here. You can smell the aroma coming from this restaurant from the parking lot. It seems to be a popular spot with usually a wait I'm told. We had a party of 7 for a later lunch on Saturday, but the wait wasn't bad. The dining space is on the smaller side so people seem to eat and go fairly quickly. The food comes out super fast so that helps with the flow as well. I ordered the bun bo nam which has the same broth as BBH but with different meats. It was essentially a beef version including beef brisket, flank, shank, and tendon. The broth was flavorful and the fresh noodles were soft. It was actually pretty good, and the small size was the perfect portion for me. We also ordered rieu cha cua on the side which was odd to have on the menu but surprisingly good as well. They ran out of beef ribs so we ordered the beef bone with tendon (xi quach). Some ordered the banh canh which unfortunately only came in a large size. Mixed reviews on that. Overall we enjoyed our meal and I wouldn't mind coming back here. read more

I haven't dined in here yet, but I recently got a to go order from here and ordered the Bun Bo Hue. Normally, my go-to spot is Duc Chuong Midnite, and that's still my favorite. That said, this Bun Bo Hue was surprisingly similar in flavor and quality--the broth had that same rich taste and the portions were ok. I'm definitely planning to come back soon to try more items on the menu and experience the dine-in atmosphere--I have a feeling it'll taste even better fresh from the kitchen. For five people, we ordered 3 large Dac Biet BBH and one large tendon to share. We eat smaller portions and enjoy all the veggies of a BBH so that was a perfect portion for my family. Broth is rich and beefy - the way I like it - and all the beef is cooked to perfection. The team is amazing at quick turnovers and the restaurant was packed on a Sunday noon. The soup is amazing, flavorful, porky, very strong aromatic flavors, spicy, and you can taste the fish sauce in the broth. I love the noodles, they are bouncy, thicker than the traditional noodles, and each bite is a more fuller bite. The leaves, cilantro, onions, banana blossom, mint leaves, water spinach, love how the restaurant gives you a lot. The slices of meat are great, the pork bone with the fat is nice, overall great BBH. I think the only thing that saved me was the satay sauce they had on the table, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to eat it. I still prefer the soup from duc chuong but i think it's because they use more msg and oil? haha either way the broth here is cleaner and feels a little healthier, but if you're coming back from a late night, duc chuong will prob hit reeeal nice. since this place closes at 5 or 6 i think this a great place to have bbh during the day and then duc chuong for after 6pm :) we tried some of their desserts which looks like they source from neighboring dessert places, but i prefer to stick with the soup and bread. if you get an extra side of meats, it comes with extra broth--be sure to try the broth it comes in, as it tastes much richer and deeper and not watered down by the noodles. read more

For the price, I wouldn't order this again. The bun bo hue was the perfect size that day for me and I could tell the noodles were better than others I have previously tried.
