I'm really glad I found Vu Auto Shop. I drive a Mercedes GLE, and before finding Vu I made the mistake of taking it to a "big name" shop that claimed to specialize in European cars. They kept my car for an entire month, gave me an invoice packed with questionable items, and used lots of technical jargon to make things sound scarier than they really were. Their labor costs were sky-high for jobs that didn't take much time, and even though they tried to look "transparent," I just didn't feel I could trust them. Then I met Vu. He had fixed the brakes on another one of my cars, and right away I felt he was different -- honest, straightforward, and focused on helping the customer. I asked him to work on my GLE, and within just three days he diagnosed the issues, explained them clearly, and fixed everything at a fair price. I brought my VW in here for an oil change. They were prompt, polite, and charged a fair price. I waited while they worked and they got me in and out in a reasonable amount of time. The waiting room is packed with all variety of plants, some flowering. There is also an aquarium. The overall effect is rather inviting, much nicer than the usual grubby repair shop waiting room. The only downside was that it was rank with the smell of cigarette smoke, so i couldn't stay inside. I hung out outside and admired some pretty flowers they had growing in a pot instead. read more

Typically I would not volunteer to offer my review for a service that I contracted with & paid for. However, with the extra-ordinary customer service focus that Mr. Vu has demonstrated, I made an exception and submitted this write-up to share with you my experience in having my SUV serviced by Vu and my take on why he has earned a full 5-stars (should be 6-stars) appraisal from me. My 1999 Toyota Land Cruiser has reached a major maintenance milestone of 183K miles which necessitated replacing the timing belt, water pump, hydraulic belt tensioners, and cam & crank shafts seals, etc.. I visited 3 reputable large repair shops in my area and after a quick look at my suv and starting the vehicle for few minutes, a similar pitch was given by their technicians to replace all the items without any pros/cons analysis. Their cost estimates were not only higher than what I have learned from Toyota online forums but also were not close to one another. Feeling not satisfied, I shared my story with an old friend of mine who has many vehicles in a hope to hear his experience in maintaining his fleet for his feedback. After hearing my story and saw the estimates, this friend wasted no time in referring me to Vu Auto Services located about an hour from my home. Apparently, my friend and his family have had their cars serviced for nearly 2 decades by Vu's. So they knew a few things about car repairs. I then drove in and met Vu who took time to meet with me cordially and happily. I told him what I needed for my SUV. He listened but politely told me he is not sure that I needed to replace all those items. He questioned me about maintenance records of past services performed on the suv for those items and then started the engine, performed visual inspections, and checked for certain I/O system responses. I was taken aback at his dedication & diligence in assessing my vehicle. He then gave me his reading & suggestion on what critical maintenance items needed to be taken care of first and what could be addressed later, all in my best interests not his! It turned out there was a decal--not easy to be seen--on the timing belt cover that listed previous technician's repairs (which items were replaced & when) ! This really was the answers that I was looking for and he patiently looked these up in order to give me an accurate maintenance status of my suv instead of trying to suggest me to replace everything at an exorbitant costs. His integrity and honest action indeed gave me the confidence for the merits of having certain maintenance items that really needed to be replaced worked on! His estimate on what to replace/repair based on what really needed, per Toyota's recommendation & actual replacement made, was very competitive, item to item, to all other shops's and it was an easy decision to have him serviced my vehicle. I dropped my Toyota at his shop in the morning and got a call from him as promised in the PM to pick it up. All the works were professionally done, on time, within cost target, and old parts were also given to me. Since I was extremely satisfied with his personal integrity, honest advice, service quality, competitive costs, professionalism, and customer care, I offered a small tip to recognize him. He politely declined and shared that my satisfaction of his shop' service is enough of a tip for him and his co-workers! I then drove my land cruiser home and told myself that I would "offer" my tip to him by having spent few minutes to sum up my experience in having my vehicle repaired by Vu with you all using this Yelp forum. I hope this will be of some benefits for you in making a right repair decision for your vehicles or someone's you know. I would give him a 6-star if there was an outlier scale & rating for such an outstanding auto repair business operated with the aforementioned qualities & characters which are rare in these days. Hi visit this place because I live in the neighborhood and I was surprised that I was charge $70 just to diagnose the problem with my car, which was just that the stop lights were not working along with two of the glass Windrows that didn't work! Then I was told that I will have to pay for the replacement of the computer $1200 If I wanted to be a new one or 600,00 for a rebuild or used one! Wow! So I looked for a second opinion and end up paying $80 ! It only needed was maintenance on the electrical system! so So if you have a lot of money to just give away this is your place! I have used Vu for years-- they know my car, don't over charge, and tell me (well, my dad) exactly what needs to be done. And frankly, on my budget, it's only what MUST be done NOW. Vu has towed my car several times and when that car finally met its maker, they sold me my new car (well, newish). Getting into their lot is a bit chaotic-- there are cars everywhere... but they're competent, professional, and have tons of fish tanks to gander at while you're waiting. read more

I got 5-6 quotes to replace an engine mount and radiator and asked whether parts were OEM and how long it would take etc. David convinced me to come in for a free consult; and when I met him, I felt good about leaving my MINI with them. They also found where the leak was coming from and replaced the transmission oil cooler. Vu showed me all the cracked parts that were taken out. I was surprised that Vu's quote came in much lower than the other guys. They moved recently to south Seattle. Vu and his crew were honest, fast, friendly and knowledgeable, I would recommend them. Auto repair is never fun and I always suspect that my XX chromosomes result in a significant surcharge. And I am mostly clueless, so I can't tell. The first time I took my car here, I was a bit suspicious of all the maintenance they recommended, but then again, I had bought a used car and hadn't had any work done on it other than oil changes in 2 years. There has been minimal automotive excitement since I had the recommended maintenance and every time I've brought my car in, they've finished sooner than expected. When I first moved back to Seattle, I was walking around my neighborhood looking for a place to have my oil changed. They gave me a great price on the oil changed and did my transmission fluid without charging extra because it "needed it." Later, I bought my current car from Vu, who gave me a fair deal on my trade in and the car is running great. If ever I hear even a funny sound, they encourage me to bring it in, check it over (for free!) and have done complimentary diagnostics more than twice. I'm always happy to bring any actual repair need to them, because their customer service and quality makes the difference.
