There is a review on here by a guy named Dave M. who says he was happy that he waited in line for hours for these donuts. Do not be a Dave M. These donuts are fine. If you're happy about taking hours to buy a mid-level donut from a pink building, you need to rethink your life. I preordered. I didn't get my order until 25 min after my preorder time slot and they didn't have the donuts that I ordered. That's understandable. They're overwhelmed. I paid $38 ish dollars for 13 donuts. That's, ya know, not great but I'm an adult and knew what I was getting into. But the donuts are not significantly better than Bosa. One of my Voodoo donuts was stale. Arizona Donut Co. is right around the corner and way better. I think it's the pink building. I think people love the branding and the hype and need to feel part of a collective experience. Ordered online with some friends we ordered 7 donuts and when we went to pick it up they told us they ran out of one of them. We asked if they could remplace it with a cheaper donut so they didn't lose any money, the worker was rude and told us they didn't have any cheaper donuts (costing less than 2.75) which is a lie for sure. I get it you guys are super busy it's opening day but like my friend paid for another donut she should get what she pays for. This was our first time having Voodoo in Tempe, but have been to the Portland store once before. I loved the big photo menu on the outside of the building. Took the stress out of not knowing what to order when I got inside. The rotating lazy susan cases with real doughnuts in it were an added plus+ I got great recommendations from the cashier too. Unfortunately when I got home I noticed one of my speciality doughnuts were not in the box. I called the store and Luis went above and beyond to help rectify the situation. Thank you so much Luis! This is a super fun place to get your doughnut craving slammed out of the ballpark! The people are super nice and patient even though the lines can be long it's worth it! I ordered a Memphis mafia and a Portland cream which was just like a Bavarian cream donut but super good. The Memphis mafia was a banana fritter with chocolate and peanut butter chips. The menu is fun and creative and the doughnuts are pretty large that's why they get 2 stars. The negatives, if you don't get the dozen that's picked out for you you have to pay per doughnut. I spent $40 on a little over half a dozen. Not a big deal if they lived up to the hype but they definitely fell short. The Dreamweaver was $4.50 and it was literally just a doughnut with filling and they didn't put the toffee toppings as described. We have a big family so we got the classic dozen and 6 special Donuts including the VooDoo and it cost 50 bucks we even asked the girl if she over changed us so insanely expensive for Donuts! The donuts them selves were nothing special to warrant 4 bucks a donut. The Chocolate covered cake was hard The Raspberry Jelly was the best of then as the filling was really good not like that cheap jelly in most places that was the shining star the others were avg at best! Amazing donuts. No long line, quality and taste is identical to a couple locations I've been to in the past. Only sad thing is there is no inside seating, and the outdoors is pretty small as it is. Very tasty donuts. Definitely some of the best I've eaten. The churro donut and the chocolate-covered old fashioned are my personal favorites. The churro has the perfect mix of crusty cinnamon and sugar! The quality of the chocolate, and the maple glazes, they use is excellent! She had tried their donuts in the north west, and had indicated they were good. The service was exceptional in the location, and the staff was very helpful. NEVER AGAIN! We had seen Voodoo Doughnuts on a few traveling/food shows and saw where this location recently popped up in Tempe. We thought it would be fun to try it out on our way into or out of the Phoenix area. BIG MISTAKE! We were driving from Phoenix, home to Los Angeles and decided to stop, since it was right off the interstate. What should have been a fun stop, a fun experience, and a fun way to start off a 6 hour road trip ended up with one of us walking out of the donut shop in tears and one of us being told we were not welcome in the establishment because we were apparently on the "wrong side of town." Yes, you read that correctly. Walked into the donut shop and there was a line. We waited in the line, which was not that long. Given that this is a famous donut chain and the Pacific Northwest locations have been featured on countless TV shows, we (along with 90% of other customers in line and in the shop) were taking many pictures to show our friends and family. The entire time we were waiting in the line, they only had one register open. When we got closer to the front of the line, my family member was taking a photo of the large Voodoo Doughnuts logo on the wall to the left of the registers. Right at the same time, they opened up the second register. Suddenly, the customer behind us in line began yelling at my family member for taking a photo (yet nearly everyone else in line was doing the same thing!). This man was so mad saying that we were too busy taking pictures and we were not paying attention and how could we not know we were next in line, so on and so on! Maybe he didn't get his morning coffee yet?! I don't know what this dude's problem was! We took maybe 5 seconds between the line and getting to the register and this other customer was going off on my family member! It was so uncalled for and ridiculous! And the best part was that Voodoo Doughnut employees just stood there and allowed another customer to belittle, yell, and berate another customer all for taking a photo! By the time we got to the register, my family member was in tears and had to leave the store! So I tried to order what we wanted, but when I stepped up to the register, I was not met with a "How can I help you?" Nope! I was greeted with "YOU'RE ON THE WRONG SIDE OF TOWN!" I'm sorry, what??? The young girl taking my order begins commenting on my University of Arizona tee shirt that I was wearing in ASU territory. She assumed I was a college student and yet here I was a good 10+ years older than her and definitely finished with college. I don't happen to care that ASU is around these parts. Literally, nobody cares! ASU accepts everyone and their cousin - it's not hard to get accepted there! This just shows the level of narrow mindedness and arrogance of the young ones working here. It doesn't occur to these people that not everyone coming to this shop is affiliated with ASU or lives under the bubble world of Tempe, AZ! Here I was headed all the way to Los Angeles - bet she never thought of that! I couldn't believe it! Who cares what school you went to?! It's a donut shop! I have never been told I'm on the wrong side of town in any business, let alone a donut shop! They out to be glad they are getting business, no matter who steps foot into their store! Good thing I wasn't wearing something about LA or CA - I'm guessing she really would have had something to say then! I proceeded with my order of about 5 donuts and I wanted a mug since I stopped here. Well, out of mugs, so I guess I will have to order one online! Left the shop with my box of donuts and everyone was so upset over this whole experience, we couldn't even eat them until we got all the way home to Los Angeles! The maple bacon bar was $4.50 and the bacon was tasteless. The old fashioned were okay, and the rest just tasted like standard donuts. The management of this Voodoo Doughnuts location should be highly embarrassed that this even happened to any customers in one of their donut shops! We will NEVER step foot into one of your shops again after this! What a joke! read more

Noting like the original Portland, OR experience. The doughnuts are very good, the original Voodoo is a one of a kind, but the service here is very lackluster. Just be aware to check your bill before cashing out. We were going to get the Voodoo dozen for $29.95 but you don't get to pick what goes in it. We changed to getting 6 of our choice and it rang up $54 before I noticed. They then adjusted it to $24. The doughnuts are good but not THAT great. Still, it's a fun difference from Bosa. read more

This was my first and last visit here. Been to a couple other Voodoo Donuts and was extremely happy. Unfortunately this one falls way short. I think they forgot the cream in the banana cream donut. The donut itself was stale and the only saving grace was the frosting. Since Voodoo donuts is so close to ASU and it's summer break I must have gotten last weeks donut. The apple fritter looked more like a blob and was raw dough in the middle. The Memphis Mafia was another one that seemed like it was from last week's batch. I've gone to this location countless times and I'm always left satisfied. But the last FOUR times I went I asked for the Portland cream donut and had no filling. If I wanted a plain donut I would ask for a chocolate ring. The fourth time I went I told the cashier to double check the donut and luckily it has filling but a tiny portion of it. Two days ago I asked for a strawberry go-tart and to by amazement it had no filling yet again. I can't believe someone in the back is focusing on making cream filled donuts yet forget some.
