I love this place. If I'm having a rough morning, or just attended a concert and want a late night snack. The employees are always friendly and the location is clean and easily accessible. Marshall Mather's is my fav but I'm excited to try their new donut sticks.
1. First the good. The counter staff were welcoming and friendly. The shop itself is cool looking and inviting. 2. Back in the day when Voodoo only had one shop in Portland and you had to wait in a long line we went a number of times. What I remember most about it was that the inventiveness of their flavors was matched by the quality of their donuts. 3. On our recent trip to Voodoo here in Seattle that quality was a thing of the past. My past favorite the Grape Ape was so messy and sad looking I didn't order it. And it wasn't the only sad looking donut in the case. We tried a couple of donuts (apple fritter and Pucker Up) and in both cases the donuts underneath the toppings were oily. I won't be coming back. There are better donuts with more consistent quality in Seattle.
Service was great, fast and friendly. Cute little place with no real place to eat inside. The decorated donuts are fun and definitely worth coming to try. I just wanted to try a few things: voodoo doll - 6.5/10 - great decoration, very tart but each bite with a pretzel made the donut very balanced bacon maple bar - 7.5/10 - this was my favorite. rich, creamy, sweet and savory red velvet cheesecake - 6/10 - good but nothing stood out Would definitely visit often. I am lucky we don't have them where I live otherwise I would be gaining lots weight.
Quality/Quantity - Time for dessert. We just had dinner next door and because my daughter is such a HUGE fan and supporter, we came here for dessert. Pumpkin Spice Late - Just okay. Pumpkin Buttermilk Bar - Just okay. Personally, I feel the "fad" is over. I still remember when you first started and we used to wait in hour-long lines. But don't worry, as long as my daughter is a fan, we will still support. Ambiance - Cool decor, consistent with their brand. See pictures. Plenty of selections as always. Open 7 days a week from 6am to 11pm or 3am; see my website or my picture. Service - Overall good. Not 100% clear directions on the door if we were supposed to wait outside or not?!?! Price - $8, reasonably priced. Owner Comment - Congrats on your success since 2000/2003 and now with 23+ locations and in 9 states and continuing to grow. We have been to at least 11 of your locations and counting.
This isn't my first time coming to Voodoo Doughnut -- I've even been to the original location in Portland, OR -- but this visit was special. My mom had been craving a buttermilk bar for weeks. She'd tried four different doughnut shops and couldn't find one anywhere, so I figured Voodoo might be our best shot... and it was! She said it was delicious and tasted just like the ones she had when she was a kid. Voodoo is always fun because of its unique flavors and quirky names -- the Voodoo Doll, Grape Ape, Maple Blazer Blunt -- you name it. The décor matches the vibe perfectly: colorful, playful, and a little spooky (the name is Voodoo Doughnut, after all). The spinning display cases showing off all the doughnuts are such a cool touch and make it hard to choose just one. I went with the Portland Cream this time, and it was delicious. Whether you're craving something classic or something wild, Voodoo always delivers.
We had a really disappointing visit to Voodoo Donuts. I've had their donuts before and have enjoyed them, but this location served us overpriced, overcooked, and stale donuts for a premium. Yuck. In the evenings, the inside of the store is closed and you have to wait at an outside walk-up window. It's not really a problem, except that the employee running the window was brand new and had no idea how to work the point of sale system or even the names of their most popular donuts. (He did, of course, have zero issues prompting us to press the tip button). We got a box of 4 donuts because we couldn't decide and they all sounded good. That's the key word here: they SOUNDED good. And there's the main caveat with Voodoo Donuts: they consistently over-promise and under-deliver. Hubby got a Butterfinger donut and a maple crème stuffed donut. One bite and he was done. I got a strawberry glazed with sprinkles and a strawberry crème donut. I was also disappointed. My donuts were greasy and tasted so old and stale. The grease was disgusting and obviously had not been changed in a while. Nobody wants a nasty donut that was fried in old grease that wasn't warm enough. It made the dough soak up all the nasty flavors. I also couldn't tell that my donuts were supposed to be strawberry as there was zero fruit flavor in either of them. All I could taste was old, dirty grease. Look at my photos, you can SEE how overcooked and soaked with too-brown grease my donuts were. Barf. I'm mad that I wasted money and time and carbs on these donuts. Skip this location, you can do far, far better.
My partner is obsessed with this place and honestly I get it. I love that they have vegan donuts and there's always fun monthly specials. The service is always friendly and helpful. It's a small place without really seating indoors but it's easily packaged to go, which is usually what we're doing anyways.
The donuts are giant. The dough is nice and soft. The icing was a little too sweet so I got tired by the end of it. We ordered through the takeout window and they handed the donuts to us right there. Glad they had vegan options since I'm allergic to dairy. I'd probably try a different flavor next time.
I scheduled a pickup here. Since it's a smaller location, I did have to wait in a bit of a line, but the staff was incredibly friendly throughout. Most importantly, the doughnuts were absolutely delicious and worth the wait!
My only experiences with Voodoo Doughnut have been in Portland, long before it became a national chain. Despite having seen them in other parts of the country, this Seattle location was my first foray into the non-Portland Voodoo life. And unsurprisingly, it was a solid, sweet, and food comatose experience. (#1) The shop is located on the corner of Pine and Minor, just around the block from lots of popular businesses along Pike in the heart of Capitol Hill. It's too small for any actual seating, but the lines can get so overwhelming that a security guard is there to keep the crowds manageable. Like any popular spot, one has to be let in once the security has given the all-clear. Voodoo Doughnut sold a sizeable chunk of their ownership before the pandemic, which has taken them to multiple states that include Texas, Colorado, Florida, and California. Thus, the brand feels more *corporate* than ever, which is a far from the alternative, Portland hippy / grudge vibe that I had long associated with the company. There are some definite nice touches: employees with legible name tags (#2), a bright pink exterior with neon lighting, and a spinning display case carousel complete with excellent lighting and the names of every doughnut available in their arsenal. It's brilliant. Of the dozen doughnuts, the ones that stood out were the maple bacon bar, the banana cream pie, the blueberry cake, and the buttermilk bar. The pop tarts and marshall mathers were just too sugar for my liking. Barring all sweets aside, the maple old fashioned may stand to be my favorite of all. The folks behind the counter were young and sweet. The prices are going to be up there but the quality of the product should be on par. While I can't really say that I prefer the more updated version of VD compared to the older one, I can say that I'm more willing to give it the other locations a shot. __________ (#1) Blood sugar crash. (#2) Back in the day, it would've been: "what name tags?"
Loved the variety of donuts. They were delicious! The cashier was a big cold - I tried asking her what her favorite was and she gave me a weird look (like 'why are you asking me?') which I thought wasn't very respectful... the ambiance = PINK. I love that they have the spinning donut preview - makes the space more fun!
Friend and I wanted sweets late at night and decided to go here on a Thursday night close to 11:30pm. Use street parking since it's Cap Hill. They actually close their interior when it's late for reasons you would be aware of when you think Capitol Hill. It's bright in there and there are pink display cases where the doughnuts would be displayed inside though they were all empty when I took a peek behind the counter. Their selections are on a menu printed outside several of their windows though they're hard to see when it's dark; you can use a QR code near those menus to see their offerings through their phone. They're all pretty unique in their own ways, some creative and others plain suggestive. I've had doughnuts from one of their locations in Portland back in 2022, so I recognized certain kinds that they've brought over to this one. The two of us collectively ended up getting the following: - Bacon maple bar: I've said this many times but sweet and savory just don't mix for me. This doughnut is a prime example of that, though I do like how crispy the bacon remained and how it balanced the overly sweetened pastry. - Mango tango: even sweeter than the bacon maple bar! Possibly because of the mango jelly and Tang. Neither of us could finish the half we split, it tasted heavily like a mango-flavored sour gummy. - Cinnamon sugar cake: our most favorite solely because it wasn't as overly sweetened as the rest, and was relatively mild in flavor. Dough was dry and bread was a tad too firm. - Cock n' balls: so... this doughnut is HUGE. Funny enough, the white Bavarian cream filling inside is only in the shaft of the doughnut and not the balls... that aside, the cream doesn't pair well with the heavier chocolate frosting; their sweet profiles don't match. - Old dirty bastard: a mix of Oreos, chocolate and peanut butter. This was just very heavy and sweet and my friend didn't get to try this one after having literally everything else listed above. If it wasn't obvious, my friend and I agreed that the doughnuts were too sweet in general, and I didn't prefer most of the flavor profile mashups from what I had. That we ordered later in the day didn't affect the quality of the doughnuts, but they still could have been a lot better. I'd prefer a regular glazed doughnut anytime over here, but I'm glad I was able to give these doughnuts another go and not have to return to Portland to do so.
I had a good experience picking up donuts at Voodoo. I like how they have the menu outside and also you can see the spinning wheel of donuts when you walk in. The staff here were friendly. I grabbed a couple of donuts to go. There doesn't appear to be room to eat here. I got a coffee from Monorail down the hill to go with them.

Visiting Voodoo Doughnut in Seattle is an experience! From the pink boxes to the crazy flavors, it's pure fun except the lines! My favourites are Dirt $4.25 Oh Captain, My Captain $3.75 Mango Tango $4 I just hope the music is a bit softer as I needed to talk loud to order and hard to listen to the cashier. read more
Arriving at the Voodoo Doughnut location on Pine Street in Seattle at about 6:05 a.m. today (Thursday 2 January 2025) I was excited to get a donut for me and a donut for my parents. I had been to the location in Vancouver, Washington State in October 2023 and had a Memphis Mafia donut I had enjoyed, so I was looking forward to checking this new Seattle location out. Upon entering the store, there were two front counter workers each helping a customer. I checked out one of the rotating donut displays and the Memphis Mafia donut was there. The worker I interacted with turned out to be a bit difficult. I asked for two Memphis Mafia, to which she turned me down. Smacked the smile right off my face kind of thing. She suggested an apple fritter instead. Mango is my favorite fruit, so I said two of the mango donut and the worker grabbed one. I reiterated and she grabbed a second one. Not sure if the hiccup was her thinking two donuts was too much for me. Payment was straightforward, the price was $8 for both donuts. Getting home and pulling the donut out of the bag, it was cold and a little stale. Looked to be leftover from the day before. The mango flavor was not present, masked in large part by the donut topping. It was a good day-old donut, just the mango did not pull through. I would guesstimate the caloric load at about 700 calories. All around it was a letdown relative to my experience at the location in Vancouver, Washington State in October 2023. read more
Is this place a bit gimmicky and over-the-top? Yes, but it's also fun and their donuts are quite tasty. You can't miss this place because it's pink. Inside, there's a chandelier and pink display cases showing off their over-the-top donuts. There are a few plainer donuts, like raised glazed and plain cake, but most of their donuts are covered in frosting and sprinkles. The donuts are soft and has an almost cakey texture that I like. read more
I had been to Voodoo Doughnut before and was really excited they opened store in Capitol Hill. It is hard to miss with the pink sign. This store was smaller than other ones I have been to and apparently there are regularly lines out the door. Then I thought they might have changed up the menu for Seattle (but like maybe adding more coffee choices), but it is like there other locations. Service is much quicker because of their setup. They are ALL about the donuts with something that would satisfy any donut fan. I had the maple old fashioned. It was absolutely delicious, particularly the maple icing. Oh my God!! These are my guilty pleasures. Bacon Maple Bar and Memphis Mafia. 1000% deliciousness. Balance of texture is there. Creamy crunchy. Love it. I swear. These were so good. I could have literally just had that for my dinner. Those calories did me in. The service there was direct and professional. No hassles whatsoever. Was it nice and packed with people? Absolutely not. There were only few people when I was visiting and that's all right with me. I wasn't visiting at a busy time so that's good. I love their donuts. Ain't no better place than Voodoo in my opinion. My friends and I got the chance to visit Voodoo Doughnuts for their second open day in Capitol Hill. We waited in line for about 30 minutes outside in order to get inside. The inside is quite small but very well decorated. I love how they have the donuts displayed on spinning platforms. I used to visit Voodoo all the time when I lived near Austin, TX. I'm so glad I got another chance to try them in WA! I got the classic dozen and the dirt doughnut. The quality and taste are great. The overall appearance of the doughnuts was so good too.These are definitely worth the wait, I'll be back soon. read more

Came in on a late night (1/8) wanting a sweet fix and got just that! My cashier (was wearing overalls!) was so sweet and gave me some recommendations as well when we found out there weren't any more apple fritters. This was my first time trying Voodoo and I'd say the variety of flavors and the price for the size is really good! It's also nice that they're one of the few dessert places that are open till late in Seattle. It's perfect for those cravings! I enjoyed the Hibiscus donut as I haven't seen that flavor elsewhere. The chocolate one tasted pretty standard to other classic chocolate rings. The chocolate peanut butter one is good, but definitely on the more sweeter side. Definitely a place to grab friends and split a bunch of the flavors! No seating inside as this is definitely a grab and go kind of place. read more

Service was very attentive and patient, they have so many flavors to try from and I like that they are open late night. This shop just opened at the time of this review (12/26/24) so there are probably some kinks to work out. We waited in line outside for about twenty minutes, even at 9:00 pm. They have an impressive fan base!! Since we were in town, we decided to do a taste test of the three donut shops we could find that sold dairy-free donuts. I absolutely love that Voodoo offers about a dozen vegan donuts, when no one else is making the effort. We bought the same three donuts (maple bar, Boston cream, and apple fritter) at each shop. Each of Voodoo's donuts just had technical issues. Maple bar: we loved how much maple flavor was in the icing. I felt it was too sweet, and neither of us liked that it was a hardening-type icing because it kept falling off in large shards. He thought the donut was over-cooked, but I liked the flavor and thought it was fine. Boston cream- the icing was nice, again he felt it was a little tough and over-cooked but apparently I like that flavor. The filling was only on one side of the donut, literally just in one half of it. Unfortunately that half wasn't the one I got to eat LOL. Apple fritter- I feel like these might have a learning curve to get right. We threw the majority of this one away because it was stretchy and raw inside, and we found maybe two pieces of apple. Of the three shops, Voodoo is middle-of-the-pack. Except for the fritter, they were fine. I wouldn't go out of my way to buy them again, but if someone handed me one I would definitely thank them and eat my treat. read more
The waiting line outside at Voodoo Doughnut was bananas! I stood in it, knowing it was worth the wait. Brand new! Open for business now. I bought two, one for now. One for tomorrow. #BananaCremePie #MemphisMafia (PB&Choc) I devoured the banana donut today. Decadent and almost sinful. Very sweet icing, but the crème filling inside was not. Pretty well balanced. The products are large and the quality of the ingredients is high. I love having so many selections to mull over. Daunting kinda, but also fun. I like that multiple vegan options are prepared daily. I don't get in moods that often any longer. The struggle to steer clear of empty calories is never ending. This type of sugar bomb is what good dreams are made of...totally allowable. At least, on any given cheat day. One will not harm the body too badly. read more

Great addition to the neighborhood in Seattle. There is a bit of line to wait for your donuts, but the crowd was rather joyful. The selection and variety of unique flavors is impressive. I tried about a dozen of them. The maple and bacon donut is the favorite. read more

What a spot! My Sister lives in Portland so I've been to those locations back in the day. To be here in Seattle is amazing to witness and admire their donut empire they have built. Service was excellent. The Apple Fritter was yummy and can be almost three donuts. This retail store is very cool. The space is nice and I love the high ceilings. read more

Extremely kind human wearing a twilight shirt was working up front when we popped in. They were funny, matched our vibes, and joked with us. Friends wanted to get donuts late night and this place was open until 3am, could see them setting up donuts for next day, lady who took our order was friendly and inviting, some of these donuts are huge, and some are overloaded with toppings proceed with caution lol . went here for a quick treat and there ended being no line which was awesome, went here at like 7/8 on a weeknight. It's a cool spot inbetween cap hill and downtown. It's well decorated and fun too. The Homer donut was really good and big, good size for my friend and I to share. read more

Went to the grand opening a few months back and it was pretty cool. Had to show the "insiders" pass to get in. It was quick and easy. If you've been to voodoo before in Portland or any of the other locations, you know what to expect. Tons of donut options, cool/ crazy merch and usually pretty friendly customer service. We got a 4 pack of donuts. The star of the show was the maple bacon bar. So sweet and yet so savory. Amazing mix. The other 3 Were ok but tasted kind of dry. The donuts can get pretty pricy but if you go early, they are better tasting in my opinion. Fresher the better. There is still some better donut options in Seattle but if you want this quirky experience, go check it out. One last thing about this place : it is very small inside. Just a heads up. If it's busy, you'll be cramped up or waiting outside to get in. read more

I had a great experience here. I've seen the line to get get pretty long but I was lucky that I went on a slow hour. I quickly went in and the whole place is just a cool vibe. The pink and neon really adds to the experience and the rotation selection of the doughnuts is a nice touch! I was almost overwhelmed with the amount of options. The doughnuts were taste and a great size. Highly recommend. read more

I am from out of town and have been to this Voodoo donuts three different times. Each time I've been lucky enough to have the same person helping me. I wish I remembered his name! He is so helpful, kind and charming. The donuts always taste fresh no matter what time you go in and the place always is clean and vibrant! Thank you! read more
Long time fan of Voodoo. However this would be true of the Oregon locations. I've always received great tasting doughnuts that are light and worth the money you spend. However, I got dozen box and it was absolutely not worth the $48.00 or gas and time to get to them. I know the Seattle location is the newest location and has a lot to prove in a new city. Especially with unique themes and name schemes. The doughnuts were hard, not light. The frosting was on par with store bought cake frosting. The doughnuts seem like day old to me. If you want an awesome Voodoo doughnut go to the Eugene location. They know how to make doughnuts. The same quality I received today I'd rather go to grocery store and I refuse to do that. Sincerely disappointed Voodoo fan. read more
