I originally was going to give this place 5 stars but sadly there was some inconsistency. I went twice while in town and the apple fritter was amazing the first time and the second time it was so heavy and greasy. The Oreo donut was good but the Oreo gets stale sitting out in the open wish they could find away for this not to happen. I was able to try the donut of the month which was a Cinnabon flavor I really wasn't the biggest fan but overall I enjoyed my experience and decor is worth a visit on its own fun for photo ops! read more

Coming from out of town and going out for a late night desert this was a great option that was open late, however the parking was a disaster late at night due to it being on 6th street. However the staff was very helpful for future parking. The donuts were amazing I highly recommend the guava colada! The location is prime, atmosphere super rad, and the employees all sparkles and unicorns, but the doughnuts are often inconsistent and sometimes sloppy. Some doughnuts have little to no filling, all the filling is oozing out a surprise hole beneath the frosting, or there is far too much filling. Some voodoo men are sexy af and some look like a they were drawn by an unartistic five year old. I left with the impression that they aren't very thoughtful about the food. Those issues aside, the unique flavors and toppings are what really do it for me here. The mango tango with mango filling and a dusting of Tang tickles my taste buds in a good way. Mr. Voodoo himself can be a solid choice. I also like the doughnuts covered in cereal. Others just crack me up, like the cock and balls. I haphazardly found the one in Austin and I knew I had to go back and try as much I could without dying from a sugar coma. Stopped by at 12 noon on a Friday and there was no line. The customer service was awesome and she made me feel like I was actually important as a customer. And the donuts...the donuts are insane. They are so good and worth all of hype. The buttermilk bar is my favorite, it's so simple and amazing. The peach Fritter is off the chain (bringing back the 99's and the 2000's) and the old dirty bastard is surprising good and not too sweet. When in Austin to visit our son Voodoo is a regular stop. The doughnuts we've had have been great- our fave is the peach fritter. Three of us shared it- it's that huge. A couple of suggestions though- get some AC. It's hard to wait in line and keep a good attitude while sweating profusely- magnifies any imperfection or unsatisfactory experience- may account for some of these reviews. Second suggestion is have a description of the donuts posted along the walls where people wait in line. Will help kill time and speed up the ordering process. Oh yeah- a third- get plastic knives. I'm not a huge donut person so if I do eat a donut, I want it to be good. I probably wouldn't order this one again. Nope. The donut I purchased (chocolate glazed yeast) for several dollars was stale. The soda from the machine was warm. There's a sign that says something to the effect of, "try for ice and if there's no ice, we apologize". Do they ever even bother to fill it? Getting ice felt like the luck of the draw and I lost. I considered getting coffee instead, but noticed there wasn't any creamer (powder or liquid) and the sugar selection consisted of a small handful of Sweet n Low packets. I read a review that the creamer, just milk, has to be requested from behind the counter. There wasn't a sign indicating this fact. My mother and family drove 14 hours from Missouri to see family friends play a show and to enjoy the donuts. You can't possibly know what they still have left in Stock until you get up to the front of the line where the person at the counter has to endure endless questions of "do you still have this one?" which makes the line take forever Further, both times I have been there I have had terrible service . most recently One girl I had, I asked if they still had turkey shaped doughnuts for Thanksgiving, she said yes and I said ok I'll have one please. She then put a ghost shaped doughnut in my box instead. Charged me for it and hoped I wouldnt notice. When I went back to let her know she had made a mistake she just said "i gave you a ghost one because we're out of the turkey ones". I then told her that she could have just told me they were out of turkeys. She just replied "do you not want it?". She was beyond rude and looked like she would rather die than work there. Which I get, we've all had jobs we don't like. But don't be rude to people who are nice to you. I can't say enough amazing things about Voodoo Doughnuts. There's a reason why you have to wait in line for these doughnuts. I have been to two locations: Austin & Denver. My goal is to hit all of their US locations and luckily, they have so many different doughnuts that I can try different ones each time. This is what I did this trip. On my first trip I enjoyed: a Vanilla Frosted with Rainbow sprinkles, Toasted Coconut, and a Viscous Hibiscus (limited edition). It is amazing that you can eat something so delicious for the same price as something mediocre from Dunkin or KK. VD is cash only, so make sure you have a special doughnut fund for your travels. I don't want to review the doughnuts individual because your taste may be different than mine, but you really can't wrong. And if you don't like what you picked, for me it was the Mexican Hot Chocolate and the Grape Ape, you can pick of the toppings because the cake itself is still delicious. With these donuts and a glass of milk, you are in a for a delicious day. (P.S. They also have vegan options available and some sick merch.) read more
