Great local place for seafood and seafood fusion dishes! I was there for happy hour which has excellent prices for beer and various dishes. On the menu were lots of goodies! I ordered char boiled oysters for a 1.75 each! (order 6 or 12) as well as honey sesame garlic wings for a dollar each! (6 or 12). Beer was $3! And I ordered voodoo ranger IPA, which is one of my favs! These two apps were 5 stars! Delicious and cooked to perfection! For my entry I ordered boiled snow crab legs with the medium spicy voodoo sauce. (This was not on the happy hour menu but priced well). When the entry came out they shake the crab legs along with a small potato and a quarter ear of corn on the cob, in a plastic boil bag to get the sauce evenly distributed! The sauce was great! Actually unbelievable! I even dipped some of my left over wings in that sauce. I give the crab legs 4 stars out of 5 for this reason: NUMBER 1) Luckily I was by myself, because this is not a meal to have on a date or with a group of friends... for the simple reason that it is EXTREMELY messy!! Eating crab legs is already messy but if you add the variable of the sauce, it's something that requires a half a roll of paper towels to clean my face and hands in between every crack or bite. Luckily the place has a roll of paper towels conveniently on the table! (I was at bar). NUMBER 2) A continuation of number 1: You have to be skilled to expert in terms of eating crab legs. I wouldn't advise for novices. (Would be cool if they gave an instruction sheet about cracking at joints and using tools, etc) The legs aren't pre-cracked, and although they give you specialized tools such as steel cracker, the plastic multi use lobster sheller fork didn't exactly do the job to get the meat out of thinner legs. I wish they gave those thin steel picks. I requested something to help me, and the server gave me a steak knife...which helped. BTW The best and least messy technique for eating crab legs is using a kitchen shear (scissor). When I asked about that, the server looked at me like I was crazy for asking. However look online and you'll see this is the best technique, which even the best chefs advise for neatly and efficiently eating snow crab legs. I managed to eat all the delicious meat, but not without creating the hugest pile of used paper towels on the bar! I would consider myself having intermediate experience eating snow crab legs. However, I watch all the cooking shows, and like I said, the process requires more tools, or possibly pre-cutting or cracking the legs, which some places do upon request. At least the process slows one down when eating though! I loved the ambiance at the restaurant. The interior design is well done and the music was great! Mostly youthful R&B from a Pandora play list. The service was very good and the bartender was very friendly. I was there at 4:30 on a Friday. The place started packing up around 6pm as I was leaving. The menu was extensive, which entices me to go back several times to try everything out! The pricing was good for their food. Happy Hour, like I said, has a nice priced menu and drinks! In conclusion, Voodoo Crab is a great addition to the Centereach area. I wish them success! Possibly they will take some of my advice about the tools for eating the delicious snow crab legs! read more

Tried for the first time at lunch. Clam chowder was excellent. My husband enjoyed his steak, however, disappointed it came with nothing. No side, no soup, nothing. Had to order a side of fries. It was also a pretty small steak. I had the boil with shrimp and calamari in garlic butter. Not a fan of my food being cooked/served in a plastic bag. It wasn't bad, calamari were very tender. Awesome seafood joint!! We came here for our anniversary and were super happy with everything. We sat in an outdoor "igloo" with seating for 4 of us and everything about it was excellent. Our server was attentive and friendly. Our food was awesome! I had the Korean steak which was out of this world. My wife had crab legs and she was super happy. Their drink menu is pretty solid with a variety of both mixed drinks and beers - both bottled and draft. It was a special meal since it was our anniversary, but I don't think it was overpriced at all for what you get in value. I would highly recommend if you're not into a reserved or "uptight" dining experience. If you can be causal - it's going to be right up your alley. The portions may look regular at first glance but the food was very filling. I came back here for lunch and decided to update my review. It is still an amazing place for lunch. I loved that they simplified how they distribute the gloves and bib. It is now in a little package that you get upon getting seated. When you open the package, you will get a bib and gloves. I thought it was pretty unique and a lot easier than having so many things on the table laid out for you. Their seafood is fresh and they aren't cheap with what they give you! The clam chowder was a little bit salty but it wasn't that bad. I still highly recommend this place :) read more

The bartender didn't know the difference between clams and oysters. We ordered clams and Oysters came out. We ordered baked clams and baked oysters came out. Want a tremendous waste of money for this restaurant. The manager is very nice however bartender charged us $24 for a martini that was in a champagne glass. Our server Ny was great! We had the char-broiled oysters, which were outstanding. We chose to get the mild Voodoo Experience boil with tiger shrimp, calamari, and snow crab. All three seafood choices were well cooked - tender in a flavor packed sauce. We weren't very hungry, so it was a lot of food for the two of us. Ny guided us through the spice levels exceptionally well. At some places mild = bland and medium = mildly spicy. At others, like Voodoo, mild is slightly spicy and, I presume, medium is pretty spicy. If you can't handle heat at all, then don't get mild. If you can handle the bare minimum of heat then you should be fine with mild. Great service, fair prices and love the set up - however seafood is very blend, we ordered mussels, crab legs, crawfish and shrimp with a mix of cajun and garlic sauce. The seafood was cold as if it has just defrosted. It's fine if the seafood is frozen but at least make sure it's hot and prepared before serving to the customer. I rarely do reviews, but I feel it's necessary to save some older patrons a wasted experience... While the food was good, waiting time was a bit shorter than expected, bartender and drinks were good (a bit pricey, but as expected) our negative was the LOUD, obnoxious MUSIC. It could have been such a better experience if we could hear the fantastic waitress (Patricia) and each other, and enjoy a conversation without screaming. My poor parents (70s) struggled to join the conversation and we asked twice if they could take the music down just a notch. I'm all about the fun atmosphere but not when you can't enjoy your people. Ignored the first time by the man at the front, who said "I got you", but didn't. He may have been a manager but not sure, not professional at all. Then our server seemed to have gotten it lowered down, literally "a notch" but still had to repeat herself multiple times to get the order. Always great food here! The wings are SO good...super crunchy and as far as the flavor, you cannot make a bad choice. Love the Voodoo sauce that you can pick for the shrimp boil. It's a combination of all of the sauces. Definitely worth trying. Service is fast and efficient. There is outdoor seating if you like that and they have had heaters out there previously to ward off the chill. The cocktails are fun and well priced. Happy hour specials are great as well. Here's the Scoop: I felt like some crab today so my daughter told me about Voodoo Crab opening in Centereach. My honey took me to get lunch there today. It's in the same mall as Brownstone. The menu makes your mouth water before you even order because the food pics look so tasty. Prices are reasonable and portions are filling. We ordered the boil pot off of the lunch menu. There are 3 steps. Choose the seafood, step 2 the seasoning and then the sauce and add-ons. We ordered crab, with garlic butter sauce, no spice and added-on sausage. This meal also comes with garlic buttered toasted bread and clam chowder soup. The soup was seasoned well and so tasty. The crab pot was filled with corn on the cob, red potatoes, shrimp and crab legs. So delicious and filling. I'm telling you this lunch was finger licking good. We did not eat there, we brought it home and got down!! There's indoor dining and outdoor dining. Social distancing is practiced and tables are cleaned and sprayed after each customer. Gloves and masks are worn by all employees. I will definitely visit Voodoo Crab again. If you're in the mood for some delicious seafood give them a try. They have several locations throughout LI. I'll start off by saying that immediately after I finished my lunch from Voodoo Crab, I called the restaurant to tell them how good it was. My wife and I ordered two lunch specials. We went with crawfish and shrimp boil combos. I got medium spicy voodoo sauce and my wife got mild butter and garlic sauce. Each combo came with corn, potatoes, garlic bread, and clam chowder. I added andouille sausage to mine. The combos were a meager $12 a piece (!?!?!?!) plus $5 for the sausage. The seafood was perfectly fresh. Everything was cooked to perfection. The chowder was probably the best I've ever had. And the sauces blew my taste buds off (in a good way!). We drove ten minutes down to Lake Ronkonkoma to eat, and the weather was heavenly, so it turned out to be the best day ever. I can't wait to go back. read more

Last night was my first visit to Voodoo Crab. I was very excited to have a Cajun boil. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere comfortable. The music gave me a headache halfway through the meal and my husband also was bothered by the loud music that was repetitive verses so much so that it was making us want to hurry through the meal to leave. The meal came and I was excited. I ordered the lobster and shrimp boil with the sausage. The meal came to the table in a plastic bag that the waitress turned over and tossed so all the sauce was equally coated onto the entree. The sauce I chose was Old Bay Spice and it was master chef quality. Every bite was enjoyed thoroughly. My husband ordered grilled chicken that came with mashed potatoes. He liked it. I was rather surprised my meal came to $48.00 because on the menu the price of lobster was whited out. We didn't order drinks and the price came to $72. The chicken dinner was $17. So I did feel the lobster boil was overpriced. As much as I enjoyed the taste of the meal I would probably not return. We have other seafood restaurants that have lobster bakes for $20. Voodoo crab. An amazing place if you know what you are ordering. Looking at the menu there is not a lot of crab on the menu. When comparing them to other voodoo crabs on the island it seems like the centereach branch removed the blue crab option from their boxes. Which is fine. They still have alaskan snow crab legs This is what i got. I have tried their boils mainly. It seems like they boil all their items together and subsequently add the sauce. Adds for versatility; however, some may argue that this goes against the principle of a boil. First off the crab legs are amazing. They have such fast turnover of these guys that they are always fresh. The head on shrimp i felt were hit or miss. Ive had perfectly cooked ones from them, some were chewy and paste-like at times. Their sauces were pretty dang good. Especially their juicy cajun sauce. Buttery, spicy, savory, deliciousness. Great to sop your crab meat with after you worked so hard to remove it. The voodoo experience is alright. I felt like the old bay kind of pushed the voodoo experience over the edge. A good sauce if you want something a little spicier than normal, but personally i prefer the butteriness of juicy cajun. Now the bad (or good depending on how you look at it): each time i go here the sauce is a little different. More lemon one day, more butter the next, more spicy, etc. a little weird if you ask me. It isnt necessarily a "bad" thing, but consistency is what some people like. If i order the same thing 10 times in a row, I would hope for the same thing each time. This is me nit picking though. We got an order of mussels for the table - the mussels were a little small but very tasty. We all ordered the boil which was incredible. I got the snow crab legs and crawfish with Old Bay sauce, all of which were fresh and plentiful, really good quality. The corn and potatoes were super delicious too. I came here with my boyfriend after the aquarium which made us have a strong hankering for seafood and the food was OUTSTANDING I've never had a creamy seafood boil sauce so we were both skeptical at first but it was delicious, my boyfriend doesn't like corn on the cob but he ate this one just to have vehicle for the sweet sweet sauce, just thinking about it makes me want it again. We even ate the lemons straight out of their peels to get more of the sauce. My only complaint is they're pretty pricey compared to hook and reel and they give less even though it's supposed to be a pound it doesn't seem like it. I don't believe a pound is = to one cluster. The staff were very nice, prompt, accommodating and did a fantastic job. The appetizers were hot and tasty. The drinks were very unique and delicious. We all had the boil, and I highly recommend it. Went there last night and while the staff was very friendly, the food was short of mediocre , at best. Our stuffed clams were literally all Panko breadcrumb and extremely dry, my boyfriends "capri sun" tasted like pinesol, and our boils came out luke warm and the food tasted like the plastic they boiled it in. We paid upwards of $130 to leave there unsatisfied and honestly, feeling ripped off. Never will be going there again. Want a real boil?
