Vons store

Immediately need to fire Cashier Alana, super rude smacking her teeth chewing gum. I had a coinstar ticket ready to scan but no groceries, a lady with groceries put her items on the belt so I already knew to immediately let the cashier know that those items weren't mine. Well when I did so she gave me a dirty look, handed me the money in a careless way. You shouldn't be on register if you're going to be rude, maybe move her to stocking shelves or shelf checkout.

They have good deals on Friday

They have the best meat case, and the customer service is excellent. Make sure to ask for Oscar.

I Dropped by to grocery shop locally here at Vons, Walnut as a switch off to Stater Brother's Walnut. What a change in grocery store layout. It must be because I'm still more used to Stater Brother's layout than Vons because I had a tad bit of a hard time locating items I needed. Vons carried some different brands than those of Stater Brothers in terms of milk and eggs that I noticed while I was browsing these sections. Service was fast at the cashier front, and just like Walmart, they also provided self check out lanes in case you don't want to wait around. There was a stationary section right around the corner of exit doors that caught my eyes~they actually sell 'Papyrus,' holiday cards here. That I like!

This ham has been sitting here (for hours?) with blood in the bag. The lady at the deli said "it's normal" for ham to have blood secretions.

This supermarket is notorious for not stocking fresh items. I've picked up expired goods on numerous occasions. Time for new management.

The worst chain ever! Always short on inventory, long lines, expired items and so overpriced.

The workers are usually friendly and I haven't have any negative experiences. Sometimes it's hard to find certain things in stock, but that's true of any store. Again, I'm glad Aldi is here and its one of the stores we come to consistently.

I don't shop at Aldi very often, so this was a confusing experience…read more I picked up a package of chicken legs that were advertised in the store for $1.99 per pound. However, the package label itself still showed the regular price per pound. Since the printed barcode label showed a higher price, I simply asked my cashier of the day, Emily, if she could confirm that the sale price per pound was actually being applied at the register. Instead of checking the price, Emily, who looked visibly annoyed by my "extremely complicated" request, told me she could not see the price per pound and that I would have to pay first before seeing the price on the receipt. She also suggested that I could simply pay first if the price turned out to be wrong, and then process a refund afterward. That felt completely backwards. Customers should not have to complete a purchase just to verify the price of an item sold by weight. For a brief moment I thought I had accidentally stepped into a South Asian government office somewhere, where the process is: pay first, ask questions later. In my mind I was thinking, "I'm not asking for the secrets of the universe here. I only asked you to read the price per pound that your register is showing, so I can feel good about saving $1.79." When I explained that I simply wanted to confirm the price before paying, Emily my cashier of the day became even more annoyed and asked, "So do you want to buy this or not?" When I said I would rather not pay without knowing the actual price per pound, she ended the interaction with, "Then We are done." Jeez.... Curiosity got the best of me, so I walked around the store until I found the store manager afterward and asked how customers are supposed to know they are getting the advertised sale price (while showing him the weekly ad)? He explained that the price printed on the package is usually the regular price, while the sale price appears at the register when the item is scanned. Fair enough. But for someone who does not shop at Aldi often, this is not obvious at all, especially when the printed label shows a completely different price. I suppose this is not Erewhon, but still, when the price looks "wrong", customers tend to ask questions. To be fair, the manager was super awesomely helpful and took the time to explain how the pricing system works, so kudos to him ! Unfortunately, the interaction with the cashier was unnecessarily complicated. Asking to confirm the price of an item before paying seems like a pretty reasonable request. Aldi's prices are great, but the checkout customer service could use a little improvement. And if Emily happens to be running the register next time, perhaps management could let customers borrow the register for two minutes and run their own self-checkout while she enjoys a well-deserved chocolate break.

Some items were cheaper than SF market and other Asian markets around town. Great deals. There's even a bakery and hot food shops inside. Might want to buy fruits and veggies elsewhere though as many looked old and withered-not ALL, but some, while others were more "alive" and fresh looking. The cashiers were friendly and helpful. There was a language barrier, but I managed with the help of other customers and other associates who spoke a little more English. :) they offer a free membership card so make sure to sign up for reward points.

Cleanliness is basically what you'd expect from an Asian Supermarket. Best thing about this market is the 62 Noodle street, which is a really overdue review on my end Was trying to buy some items when we noticed it rang up as more expensive than what we saw. Cashier basically told us the price scanned is what it is and don't look at the tag saying we saw the wrong items tagged and barcode. She basically told us she can't do anything since that's what it scans as. I'm pretty sure I checked the tag so we went back grabbed the tag and brought it up. The barcodes matched so we escalated to someone more knowledgeable since the cashier didn't want to do anything. After 5-10 mins someone finally came up and said that's the price on the tag and they had to honor it. Took a lot of effort and basically the blamed corporate/headquarters for changing the prices and them not updating their tags. Not sure how that makes sense, but that's their reasoning. So be careful and aware of prices here

I can't believe I haven't written a review for Tokyo Central yet, though I've stopped by here…read moredozens of times - my go to is their sushi tray options! They have the BEST tasting salmon sushi/sashimi all around, at this price point, even better salmon quality compared to nearby sushi restaurants in my opinion. (Our Japanese native friend also agrees.) Best part is - 20% off after 7 pm!!!! But the trays get snatched up quickly. Too bad I'm not around the area at that time, otherwise I'd make Tokyo Central my weekly run for dinner. Their Kimchi Tako Poke is another regular we get, it's so good. However, recently, the only option I saw was the Shoyu Tako Poke - and I didn't like this version one bit - too hard and the flavor is not to my liking. Will never get it again. The hot food area has quite a decent selection, priced and weight by the pound, self-served. Often around 3-4pm, you may see 20% discounted packaged hot food placed out, whatever that's leftover from the lunch rush hour. Tried it a few times, but felt most of the food is heavily dosed in MSG, so I'd be selective on what I get. They also have sashimi party trays which require pre-order. Great pricing for the quality and convenience. Overall, love their sushi selection, and it's a regular stop for us. As for the market itself, there's not as much to buy, and pricing is on the higher end. However, they have a larger selection of some products that I can't find elsewhere, and sometimes their advertised specials are decently priced.
