Selection of beers

This sore is so much more than the former Marukai at the same location. merchandise are shelfed higher and more displays are available to promote their prepared foods and new merchandise. I felt like I got lost with so many options and believe this is what Japan would be like. The ambiance is clean and not congested. The meats are are well separated and the packaged goods are easily accessible. I would like to check this place out when I have more time...

A great Japanese market! I'm Japanese American so really enjoy the variety and quality of groceries, seafood, prepared foods and dry goods. It's a 35 minute drive, but it is worth it! Also love that it is a market with parking.

Came today with my daughter to get all her favorites to cook this week while she's home. Love the produce section --the Asian pears are always good here, and the ginger. I appreciate the dining area partitioned off to the side for people to eat the buffet style cooked food right away. My daughter likes their sautéed green beans, grilled mackerel and fried noodles. My husband likes their sautéed unagi eel on rice. I like the tuna and salmon sushi. They always have enough cashier lanes open. If you buy food to eat there, ask for utensils from the cashier. The store aisles are a bit narrow, so you have to take turns slowly so you don't collide with other carts, but it is well organized and clean. The staff are helpful and polite.

Asian snack heaven! I came here to pick up a couple of items to make Spam masubi for my kids but I left with a whole cart full of goodies. And, I'll definitely be back. I wish I hadn't just had lunch before I came. Their selection of grocery items for Japanese, Chinese, and even some Hawaiian items was great. I do wish they carried some Vietnamese staples too, like fish sauce, so I didn't have to go to two stores but I know it's called "Tokyo Central" so I shouldn't expect that. It would just be nice. I loved that there is a fresh sushi and sashimi area, bakery, and deli, so you can pick up prepared foods. There's also a great seating area to enjoy your goodies on the spot. I spent an hour exploring in here and will be back with my kids so we can really deep dive into the many snack isles.

Tokyo Central has a great selection of Asian snacks, beverages, and products, but I came specifically for the packaged food and hot meals. They had a solid variety of ready-to-eat options like chicken karaage, bento boxes, donburi, and more. There's also a microwave and a small dining area, which makes it really convenient to eat after paying. I picked up the variety sushi. The rice was a bit hard, but the fish quality was decent. Definitely not restaurant-level sushi, but it hit the spot for a quick sushi craving. Overall a good option when you want a convenient Japanese meal or snack without sitting down at a restaurant.

Tried Tokyo Central in West Covina and was pretty impressed with the variety of sashimi and sushi they offer. Everything tasted very fresh, and the selection has a good mix to choose from, so you can find something for every sushi lover. It's definitely a nice spot if you want quality fish without going to a restaurant. That said, it's a bit pricey for a grocery store setting. You save maybe a dollar or two compared to going to a restaurant, so it's not a huge discount but still a decent option if you want to grab high-quality sushi to go. Overall, I'd give it 4 stars for freshness and variety, just keep in mind the price point isn't super budget-friendly.

It has a bunch of cool items and a hot food bar. It all looked great I got a waygu slider, meat croquette and Yukon fries. There isn't anywhere to eat inside so I ate in my car. Unfortunately none of the food was warm and I was very quick to leave. I also wanted to buy vanilla coolish but they were out of individual packs so I had to buy half vanilla and half chocolate. I'll come back but probably just take food to go. Apple Fanta was 10/10. I had a hard time finding that in Tokyo glad it was here.

Great place to buy ready-to-eat meals! There's a big sushi selection for sushi lovers. I like their sandwiches and ice cream selection too. The aisles are kind of narrow, but you will get used to it hehe. I think it is because they try to put as much merchandise as they can. There is a section near the entrance that sells food a la carte and then you can either take it home or eat at their dining area. There is a microwave oven and water dispenser for your convenience. There is a little shop inside that sells plush toys and other novelty items. You can also see a few claw machines too. I think this location is better than the Yorba Linda one. We went here and there was a delay on putting out their ready-to-eat meals. Great customer service so far. A lot of parking spots outside.

DBZ flavored sparkling water! They're good!

Tokyo Central is a go to Asian supermarket for us for many reasons. This supermarket has so much to offer. The parking lot can get packed throughout the day. The supermarket is generally clean and they have security guards there during business hours. During lunch hours, they have a hot food section to make you own lunch. You can grab a box to fill it up and weight it at the cash register. They also have a selection of grab and go lunch entrees, such as beef bowls, curry bowls and sashimi salads. They offer ready made sandwiches, sushi rolls, onigiri, and many others items. Tokyo Central offers a big section to have lunch with 10+ tables for any one wanting to eat inside the market. PRO TIP: If you come by around 7-7:30PM, all the ready made food as I mentioned above are priced at 20% off! This is a great time to stock up and grab you favorite items. Also the hot food sections has packed containers to sell after hours. Most of the time, this hour at Tokyo Central gets packed as everyone wants to grab the discounted items. Whether we come here to eat or grab some groceries and cool snacks/drinks we enjoy dropping by from time to time. Lately, we purchase their sashimi grade salmon to make our own poke and we love their affordable priced meats for grilling. We're lucky to have this location not too far from home.

5/5 as usual! Food 5/5 Service 4/5 Ambiance 5/5 Selection of goods and food 5/5! Love love this store so much! Checkout was also fast! Wow From sushi to hot food, 1 stop shop! Will continue to give you plenty of my $$$ here!

Such a cool place to get all things Japanese from pre-made hot and cold foods, snacks, candy, chips, ramen, sauces, meat, frozen foods and drinks including alcohol. They even have a section with beauty products. When we went, it was super busy. The lines were really long because not all the registers were open. We did get what we were looking for which was a specific kind of sake.

I love this place! I come here to get my daughter salmon sashimi and she goes over to the snack area to get her anime surprise cards The meat here is cheap and better than the regular supermarket Service is fast and friendly Always clean

Walking into Tokyo Central in West Covina, expecting to be smacked in the face with every Hello Kitty, Gundam, and glittery face mask known to anime-kind... and instead, it's more like, "Welcome to Practical Japan™. This store's got all the Japanese lifestyle essentials: snacks, sauces, and rice cookers that could probably outthink your smart speaker. I do love the grab and go food, that's always a convenience plus!! But if you're looking for a tsunami of toys, kawaii chaos, and enough anime merch to open your own con booth? You might want to teleport to the Kearny Mesa location instead. Still, it's a great store... think less Otaku Disneyland, more 'organized chaos with a soy sauce aisle.'

Ask the Community - Tokyo Central

Is the hot food buffet only on certain days? I came in today Monday Aug 25th and everything were prepackaged and I wanted the convenience of getting only certain amount of specific foods.

The hot food ‘buffet’ items are available from around 10 am to about 3 or 4 pm. Some items sell-out. Whatever, that is not sold is then packaged as prepared meals. Hope this… Read more

Do they accept EBT now?

I heard they do now on qualifying items though I have not tested it myself. I do know that they do have a sticker outside stating that they do take EBT now

Is someone able to tell me if they sell sushi grade fish? Tuna, salmon etc. to make sushi at home. Frozen or fresh?

YES and always fresh and delicious. Tokyo Central is the best market for fresh high grade sushi fish and seafood.

What time does the hot food self service counter open?

Hi! 11am-2pm

What days and hours is the self-serve hot food bar open? Cause they seem to be closed if I go too late in the afternoon...

11am-2pm :)

Do they sell vegan tuna sashimi?

Not sold at Tokyo Central

Rice cooker promote?

Not sure what is your question. You can check their online weekly ad for rice cookers to go on sale. They have displayed the latest rice cookers from Japan.

Do you accept EBT payments?

No. They do not

What time are the sushi boxes available?

I think usually around 11 a.m. They rope off the area, bring the boxes in and then allow patrons to buy them. You can purchase the ready made hot food earlier.

I heard the store down in the South Bay is now a Don Quijote.. They have the stores in Hawaii. The stores have larger selection of cooked foods and poke. Anyone know if this store plans to do the same name change?

How do I place an order for California rolls party trays?

Don't bother calling, you'll get nowhere. You have to go in person, in the morning when they open is your best bet. You'll have to pay for it in advance before they make it so that they're not stuck with it.

Do they accept ebt/food stamps?

No, they unfortunately do not accept EBT or food stamps.

Does this place sell sweet radish? I need it to make pad Thai.

No. You're better off trying H2 Market, 99 Ranch, etc

Hello. Does this location sell whole Japanese cheesecakes like the Yorba Linda location?

yes

Does this place sell a lot of Dagashi? Like Umaibo and stuff?

Yes, they have a good selection.

Is the dining area still closed?

Hell no! But I do hope that things improve enough for them to re-open that section. Peace

Cleanliness is basically what you'd expect from an Asian Supermarket. Best thing about this market is the 62 Noodle street, which is a really overdue review on my end Was trying to buy some items when we noticed it rang up as more expensive than what we saw. Cashier basically told us the price scanned is what it is and don't look at the tag saying we saw the wrong items tagged and barcode. She basically told us she can't do anything since that's what it scans as. I'm pretty sure I checked the tag so we went back grabbed the tag and brought it up. The barcodes matched so we escalated to someone more knowledgeable since the cashier didn't want to do anything. After 5-10 mins someone finally came up and said that's the price on the tag and they had to honor it. Took a lot of effort and basically the blamed corporate/headquarters for changing the prices and them not updating their tags. Not sure how that makes sense, but that's their reasoning.
