We were sold and bought at least 5 items to try... Not sure if all the names that we bought but, we got something that looks like empanadas, crackers with peanuts, noodles with meat, green mochi dessert, etc. Everything was delicious!! Tiny little hole in a wall but definitely packed a punch. They didn't have a crazy huge selection but they did carry the basic necessities.

They are MOVING! I went to the old location that are same plaza with Paris baguette but turn out they move to different location. NOW they're in the Garvey Ave, close to Bake & Che. Unexpected Find, Incredible Flavors - Can't Wait to Return on a Saturday! I discovered Tip Top Market while waiting for my order at a restaurant in the same plaza. A quick Yelp search and a few mouthwatering food photos were all it took to get me to walk over. It was 11:22am on a Tuesday. I headed straight for the hot food counter in the back and saw there were only six items on the steam table. I lingered a few minutes, thinking more might come out. The kind lady in the kitchen let me know that this was it and said the dishes from the Yelp photos are offered only on Saturdays. Darn! Well, since I was here I decided to go for the 3-item combo. She offered samples of the items to try and two bites in, I already knew what I wanted: Beef Rendang - fall-apart tender beef in a deeply flavorful, spicy stew. Spicy Chicken - she didn't know the English name (Ayam Rica-Rica?). This was fragrant, fiery and turned out to be my favorite. Vegetable Curry - mild and comforting with tofu. Served with coconut rice (because regular rice was still cooking), which paired beautifully with everything. The kind lady smiled and said, "I hope you like it." I loved it! So we were at one of my favorite banh mi joints, Hue Thai Bakery, when we noticed the Indonesian market across the plaza was open. So we went over and checked it out. As with most Indonesian markets, they had a vast array of prepared foods available. The nice folks at the market recommended a couple of items and we made our purchase. When we got home we followed their instructions and warmed the dishes up. Both of them were absolutely delicious! I've gotten similar dishes from other Indo markets but they were not as good as these. Taste was 5 stars but where I took one away from was the price. $15 for four average sized skewers seemed high. I believe the prices for each prepared dish are set by the ones who made them so next time we'll check out other offerings as well and see how those prices are. But all in all the food was absolutely delicious and we will be back. read more

I drove all the way from San Diego to buy krupuk and was so excited that they carry the NY Siok brands. I bought Krupuk Udang (shrimp crackers), krupuk ikan (fish crackers) and belinjo udang. I am very upset that the expiration dates printed on the packages have been removed, and new 2023 dates labels were stick on top to cover them. They have all expired. It is against the consumer right law to tamper with packaging expiration dates. These crackers are not cheap $20, $17 and $12; $50 of expired products!!! I tried calling the merchant but mailbox is full and I can't leave any messages. Buyer beware. Do not trust the new expiration date stickers. Look carefully. read more

I got bacang nasi (yum), lontong balap medan (so good!), Arem2 (very good but inconsistent), siomai manis (good), lemper ayam (good), tahu isi (so good but eat right away if not spoil). I want to try martabak Andre (cafe), pek2, nasi uduk, mi kangkung Janty, sate and everything else. For grocery I really think it's the most complete Indonesian grocery. They even have petqi (sator), jengkol, seasoning, snacks, drinks, hot sauces, even batik! Sometimes they would calculate wrong so I will use my own calculator next time. I only recently learned of this place after seeing someone recommend it on the SGV Eats Facebook group. Many people know of Medan Kitchen after it went viral on social media, but Tip Top Mart is less well known. Tip Top Mart is an Indonesian grocery on week days, and then on weekends they serve a small variety of popular Indonesian dishes. Tip Top Mart, sadly, does not have a menu, so I just kind of had to guess what they had. I ended up ordering nasi bungkus (rice, chicken, beef, and veggies wrapped in a banana leaf), nasi kuning (yellow rice, chicken, beef rendang, and veggies), and a noodle dish that I don't remember the name of. The dishes all tasted very good. Not as spicy as Medan Kitchen, which is good in its own way. I loved the beef rendang, and I also loved the sweet sardines and nuts that came with the nasi kuning. The eggs were all good. I asked for green chilies on the side with the nasi bungkus, which they obliged. My only complaint was the food was a bit cold, and I wish the food was made to order. Great place for fresh Indonesian food and snacks on the weekends. Beware, the place can get very busy and line gets long. And if you come late, most of them are probably already gone. If you already know what to get, it's best to call ahead so they can set aside the items for you. The distributors will do all these tiny dirty tricks because they have pallets of merchandise. Hence, they do all they can to sell the expired crackers. They sell fresh homemade food like nasi kuning, mie goreng, lemper, bachang, sate, otak otak, croquette, roti baso, rendang, kue lupis, kue talum, kue klepon, kue lapis legit and more. I wish they sold cendol but I haven't seen it. I recommend if it's your first time to go in and see what's there. Then going forward I would call to order what you want cuz they often times run out. Also, the food is sold only on the weekends I believe...This is also a tiny Indonesian Market. The Asian community is strong in the San Gabriel Valley, but for Indonesians there is only a small number of places we can call home. In this small plaza on Las Tunas Boulevard, near the delicious dumplings is Tip Top, filled with all things Indonesian! The prices here are reasonable compared to the prices found in other supermarkets. The products are also more fresh, because, despite it's disheveled looks, people frequent this store quite often! They carry more products and spices in this store than what you would find in normal supermarkets. If you wanted a certain flavor of chips, they would probably have it! If you're new to Indonesian products, I would recommend trying out the instant noodles called Indomie. They are not your ordinary instant noodle. It comes in two different styles, they have the soup version, and a fried version, both are equally delicious! Just depends on what you're in the mood for. read more

I usually go to this store on Saturday when they sell more home made food. I really like nasi bungkus (rice with meats, marinated vegetables, and egg): there are 2 different kinds where both are equally good, spicy and tasty but I prefer the one from toko rame. My daughter doesn't eat spicy food so she likes green noodle with mushrooms, diced chicken and vegetables. We usually also order batagor (fried fish stuff on tofu). I also buy a box of teh botol (jasmine tea in cartons). I buy other snacks that I ate growing up (Selamat chocolate sandwich biscuit, dua kelinci egg coated peanut, kusuka cassava chips). There are others that I tried before and mostly good. Ask the worker or owner for recommendations, they will inform you. read more
