I was surprised to see that the fruit section was pretty small. Aisles are well displayed but it did seem a bit bare. Prices and items are definitely on the higher side but overall good quality. Why do I give them 5 stars? They don't carry the typical senbei or Japanese snacks. You can get those at other Japanese stores. If you want unique and truly delicious straight from Japan come to this store. They had the cutest cookies with cream and fruit but from Japan and not mandatory to refrigerate. They were delicious. The lady there is super nice and helped me pick an even better piece of produce than I did. Store is clean, and siesta looks good. The bogo is great! Take advantage of that. Oh and their chips from Asia can't be beat. Unique flavors my 96 year old mom loves! Without a doubt you must buy the green onion pancakes by geemate. They are better than restaurant quality. this store specializes in Japanese and Taiwanese goods. It feels like a an upscale mitsuwa. I rarely see customers parked here but there are definitely some regulars who stop by. I tried this Japanese Cheetos that I normally wouldn't find elsewhere and it's very tasty. read more

I was on the hunt for some shine muscat grapes and saw Heyden just got a fresh batch. I tried calling to see if they can hold a bag for me since I wasn't available that same day, but unfortunately they said they can't do that. Luckily they still had a lot in stock when I went the next afternoon. Heyden carries a variety of goods that are seasonal. Their fruits look very fresh and typically are not sold in other supermarkets. But I'll be honest, their stuff is pretty expensive. My grapes ended up totaling $36 and I felt very bougie paying such a ridiculous amount for some grapes. They were very sweet though but I feel like the grapes I had in Korea were sweeter, and definitely way cheaper. Their customer service is great. The man working was so friendly and I noticed he put on a new pair of gloves when he came over to assist me. They have a few parking spots in the front of the market. I loved visiting this store and I found lots of old favorites and new things to try. Calvin is super attentive and knowledgeable on all of the products offered here. So happy that I was finally able to visit this little market! FYI, there's no photos allowed inside (didn't realize until a bit too late, sorry!). There's 1 hour parking in front and coming mid day on a Wednesday, there was no crowd whatsoever. Yes, there's lots of things that you can find cheaper at any other market, but be smart about it, YOU'RE NOT HERE FOR THAT. You're here for the fancy imported stuff that you CANNOT get anywhere else. There were so many interesting Japanese sweets and snacks that I have NOT seen at Tokyo Central, Marukai, Mitsuwa, Seiwa Mart, or Nijiya and that is SAYING A LOT as a weeb who goes to them so, so often. Lots of chips, candies, cookies, etc that I have only seen here. There are LOTS of really fancy, kinda pricey, but super bougie things like $98 rice, $150 (Mother's Day special) crown Japanese melons, wagyu steak cuts, etc. You'd be hard pressed to find some of these things elsewhere without paying the import shipping prices yourself. Some highlights of what I got were: Sakura Matcha Pocky (entire pack of them, much lighter in flavor and slightly sweeter than their regular matcha flavor), Disney lollipops (only 79 cents for these, super cute packaging and nice flavors. PERFECT for my friends who work at Disney and can get almost everything else Disney that isn't from overseas), and spicy hot chips and spicy curry chips (I ate like 3 pieces of these and my dad inhaled the rest of it lol). For produce, I got the Golden Fuji Apples (around $8+), lightly sweet, great color, and very crisp, a $12 cantaloupe like melon (a worker there told me to leave it at room temp for 2-3 more days so it's the best for eating, very sweet, and less seeds & more fruit), and a pack of large Driscoll strawberries (very, very sweet and only slightly tart, great color). There definitely was a language barrier between me and the cashier, but she was super nice, friendly, and helpful. I also got some freebie snacks to try out! Thank you ! Definitely worth stopping by to check out or if you want to splurge on some of the high quality stuff. The only good thing about this place is they sell fruits that are not available elsewhere. It's a very small place with not much inventory. Service is a bit too strict. Wow just wow!! So many amazing types of fruits you can't purchase at any other super markets. It's a cute little specialty store! Boyfriend purchased a box of tree ripened mangoes and a pink pineapple. The customer service is amazing! The owner explained to us the situation they were having w the mangoes and how he would be willing to exchange the ones that were unsatisfactory. We don't blame the owner, it's a transport issue not his. To the Yelp user who gave this place a 1 star just because the store employees couldn't speak English the way you wanted them to, get off your high horse. My son loves their snacks here. This is a very small store that sells variety of items from freezer foods to snacks and some fresh fruits. My 7 years old like to munch on snacks and most of their snack foods are not available in H Mart and other places. The items can be little bit more expensive than those supermarkets by comparing the size of similar item, but I find it very convenient you just stop and go without looking for parking space and waiting in line to pay at the grocery stores like H Mart or Ranch 99. What I also like is their soft drinks are much colder than a typical 7 Eleven store. I came back for the second time to buy more of these seaweed tempura snacks, but all sold out. The guy and the girl working there were very friendly and helpful. The girl came over with a big smile to see if I needed help finding something. The sales staff do not speak English and couldn't answer a simple question (Where are the melons?). The box that contains the pears has Japanese characters and Kanji, but the place of origin is PRC. WOW!!!! I drove by this place several times without realizing what it was. This is a new specialty market with high quality foods, particularly exotic and special fruit. What a treat to have this in Arcadia. The owner and staff are very kind and owner also posts updates on inventory on the SGV food board. This place is packed with exotic items I've never seen anywhere. They have fruits sourced from around the world and dried scallops from Japan at a very reasonable price. Heyden isn't quite what I wanted it to be. Based off the reviews, I thought it would have a lot more imported goods, but as of now, I would say a good chunk of it is stuff you could regularly find at H-Mart or one of the many 99 Ranch Markets nearby, for a more premium price. They do however carry things that not even Mitsuwa will carry, and I don't mean just the sad one in San Gabriel (I mean in general). Although photos weren't allowed, they do carry some very niche seasonal Japanese products that you most likely will not find elsewhere. The prices also reflect this, but oddly enough, I didn't think the Japanese imported goods had a crazy mark up, compared to some of the more mundane, easy to find items. The pricing actually seemed pretty fair for what they were. When I visited, a lot of the fruit shelves seemed empty, but I would imagine if you go when things are in stock, you may find some very good product. It's like a place you might expect to find oishii strawberries. The employees can also give you an idea of when to expect things, so I highly recommend asking them, otherwise you might not know what to even look for. That being said, I'm giving it a 4 star because of what it can be, and it's spotless inside. Wouldn't mind going back, but may have to lower my expectations. I hope they'll be able to expand their imported product lines soon! read more

At first we were not sure why this grocery market opened up as there's so much competition nearby with Arcadia super market and 99 ranch. Then as we learn more about what they do, it turns out they curate and stock the best groceries, from the best fruits to the best rice to A5 wagyu that you won't find at a normal supermarket. I'm very picky about food quality. Since I walked into this shop half year ago, I am really impressed by the quality of this shop！I basically go shopping twice a week. HEYDEN offers high quality, exotics fruits, and I'm a big fan of seasonal limited mangoes, cherries which exported to Japan, mangosteen from high-end fruit brands, Japanese crown melon, and Korean sunshine grapes. Heyden's A5 Japanese Wagyu is really the party's first choice. Heyden also offers top quality wagyu from Australia Jeek's Creek brand, my kids especially love the Korean Galbi Style steak and Bulgogi beef brisket. The shop also offers lamb chops, lamb shoulders from New Zealand and Canadian-raised pork of the Japanese breed. Heyden also offers farm freshly picked vegetables, such as our family's favorite Chinese cabbage, as well as a wide variety of snacks and drinks from Japan.
