They blew up on TikTok. The prices here are certainly unbeatable, but you get what you pay. For fresh produce, you better consume them the day of due to the shelf life. For packaged goods, you better check expiration or best-by dates. I purchased some beef jerky that had best by dates five months ago. I was here in March 2026, and the best by date was October 2025. They have alot of stuff that is expired that's still good or about to expire, there's some bargains to get. They had Ezekiel bread for $1. They had archers beef sticks about expire in a week, still good since they're dried and vacuum sealed for $1 a box which is like giving it away free. Not a bag of them but a box that comes with 5 or 6 bags. The produce was average price nothing cheap, it seems that they get different stuff everyday or week. I only been for the beef sticks since someone posted it on instagram. They do have a tik toc account they you can follow and they post whatever is a hot deal. Parking is decent got there around 10 am, but as soon as I got there on a Saturday it started getting crowded and parking lot full. Like I said I'd go there only if I saw something worth driving for. It is very "hole in the wall"- something you might have come across in a neighborhood convenience store except this is mainly produce and some shelf stable items. 1) Cash only. Unsure if they accept EBT. 2) No bags. They only have boxes. 3) No refunds/ exchanges - the sign was large that even I remembered it! Prices are decent. Price is cheap/affordable 2). Close to home 3). The husband is so nice & friendly. My MIL & I went there today (7/30/25) and had a bad experience. I'm not sure if it's the wife/owner or just an employee but my MIL wanted the Romain lettuce the worker was bagging into 4's for $1, we didn't see where she was putting them as she had only brought them out to work on but I did grab a bag she had already made in front of her & my MIL wanted some and was just looking at the quality of it to see if she wanted them and since the one I was looking at wasn't as fresh (it looked withered & turning brown) she asked the girl if she can put them in a bag for us & she happily said yes (she's so sweet!) As soon as she was going to do that, the lady (wife? Manager?) barges in out of nowhere & rudely told us that my MIL cannot be picking out her own lettuce for bigger ones - they were all the same size! & proceeded to tell the girl don't let people do that and told my MIL to put the lettuce back, she actually grabbed it from her hand and again told her don't do that again. We weren't picking out a specific larger lettuce, some of them looked like it was going bad, so why would anyone want the poor looking lettuce to begin with?! We ended up saying forget it, she doesn't want it anymore and went to check out. The husband/cashier was nice though, he saw it happened and asked us nicely if we still wanted it. I didn't want to buy it due to her attitude but we ended up getting it anyway but the wife continued to say "if we let people pick out their own stuff they're just gonna take the bigger one" like okay lady..it's not that serious. No need to be rude, you can just say it nicely and we would've understood but instead she comes attacking us. She needs to work on her attitude. When we left I overheard the husband say "hey be nice". That says a lot about the kind of person she is. No wonder a lot of items are marked down to $1, it's cause she's probably driving all these customers away with her bad attitude. I'm not even exaggerating on this, I wish I was joking. There isn't an obvious sign that says George's Produce but they have a banner that says farmer's market on the sidewalk. The parking lot is small but so is the market so the turnover is quick. Walking inside it looks like someone made an effort to make signs in areas with produce to look like a grocery store but there are also lots of rotating inventory with pre-packaged bags for $1 each. Pantry items line the walls and some chips as well for really cheap. Just pay attention to the expiration date. I loved that they have some organic produce that is more affordable. It's the neighborhood hidden market gem! I have been coming here the last couple of weeks and this market always have something new to find. Every week there's some good deals like one week watermelon 2 for $1, a big bag of broccoli for $1 and even bell peppers for $1. You see where I'm getting at? Really low price produce at fairly good value and quality. Of course you might find some bad apples in the bunch of produce but just be careful. Other than that I don't mind at all. It's a nice small store near the corner of Lower Azusa and Peck Road. There's a good amount of parking in the front with additional parking in the back. I call this a hidden gem because you can really stretch your dollars here! Sometimes you can grab a huge bag of lettuce or spinach for a bucket and split amongst other family members because there's just so much! I've become more food conscious because I too have gotten groceries that just sat around and went bad from regular grocery stores. Here I can by small amounts at a low price and share the portions of I can. I recommend stopping by if you're in the area. I have been shopping here since early 90' and I love the treasure hunt and surprises! Last summer I got more than 20 + bags of Cotton Candy grapes for $1/ bag ( about two lbs) it was such wonderful treat the whole summer! They also offer items in bulk, few years ago , a pack of 6 lbs of Organic Tofu for $1/ pack they have unique items in bulk, variety of spices and olives! I've always driven by this small grocery store and I decided to try it out. This place always seems closed because they have odd hours such as they close pretty early. The exterior of the place looks run down and the interior of the place is no better. The parking situation might give you anxiety because there aren't many parking spots and the parking lot can be challenging to enter and exit. As you enter the store, this place has a dirty vibe to it. They claim that their items are organic, but looking at the food, it makes it feel like these are "organics" that aren't desired. They have a lot of deals like 1 dollar baggies filled with some sort of fruit or vegetable. However, if you look closely, the produce looks old and not fresh to the unsuspecting eyes. There are some produce that is good but it's like a treasure hunt. This place is also cash only with limited coin usage. In the end, There are much better stores that have better quality produce. I've been coming to George's Produce [& Flower Mart] for years. If I ever need a some type of produce that is ridiculously expensive at all the major supermarkets, I can rely on George's Produce to have it for cheaper. For example, if other supermarkets sold Roma tomatoes for $1.39/lb, you might find a bag of tomatoes for $1 here. Or when bell peppers at other supermarkets are 2 for $1, you can get them here for $1 a bag. Aside from the produce, there's also a wide selection of dairy, spices, grains, and prepackaged dried fruits and candy. Where else can you purchase products from all ethnic groups? You can get VK Food Product's fresh soy milk here as well as other staples like pita bread, tortillas, etc. Their flower section is impressive too! You can get potted plants like hydrangeas, Gerber daisies, tulips, and small flowers that I can't remember the names of for very inexpensive ($1.50-$10 range). read more

That one star is for the cashier, the man who is nice and friendly. Otherwise, the store is worthless. First, employees didn't wear masks even though everybody seems to have vaccinated but it still does not safe. George's produce is one of the most interesting places I have came across. With cheap prices compared to other retail stores, also comes expired goods. However there is a catch, if you do something unpleasant that annoys the manager, expect backlash and a kick-out from the store. Unpleasant actions in the eyes of the manager includes misplacing items, you do something that risks damaging of goods (eg. holding many goods instead of placing them in a shopping cart), picking up an item and deciding to put it back, staying idle in the store for too long, being indecisive of what goods to choose, touching goods, and many more. I once saw a lady pick up 5 items, drop down 3 items, deciding that she is going to buy 2. Little that she know that by dropping 3 items, this annoyed the manager. The manager proceeded to yell "Get out of the store" and "I am not doing business with you!" The lady said "Why?", but the manager started to scold the lady like a child until the lady left. This poor customer service definitely loses the business customers, but in a way trains her customers to buy what you need and get out. In other big stores, you see misplaced items everywhere, but in this store everything is organized to maintain order and efficiency. Once you break that organization, the manager will decide to not do business with you. If it wasn't for the cheap prices, business would definitely be crashing here. Pros: cheap prices, organized environment, abundance of stocked items Cons: risk of expired goods, poor customer service, lack of variety, strict policies, cash only payment Tldr: Buy what you need and don't cause any 'inconveniences' in the store, and get out fast or face lots of ruckus. read more

I LOVE GEORGE'S PRODUCE! They sell extremely cheap, organic and local produce! This helps the local community which is lower income, eat fresh on a budget. When you walk in, you'll see a section of their bagged dollar deals. They keep their prices down by selling produce that is close to the best by date. Their produce is usually what is in season so it always varies. One time, I bought a whole box of wheatgrass for $1.99! YES, UNDER $2! Usually one wheatgrass shot costs ~$4 at Jamba Juice. This whole box had around 8 servings! Occasionally, they have canned kombucha at a steal($1). Keep in mind- they take card but at an additional $1 charge but I just see it as giving back to their store since they help the community so much by providing highly affordable health foods. read more

Unfortunately my Ralphs decided it was a good idea to redo their produce section. Which meant half the produce were missing, and the ones that were out didn't have a price label on them. So I didnt pick up any fruits or veggies yesterday. BUT if it wasnt for yesterday, I wouldn't have discovered George's Produce today! I drove by this place a few times with their too good to be true specials posted outside. In need of fruit and veggies, I consulted Yelp about this place. With their over-all 5 stars rating, I stopped by George's with confidence on my way home. After I parked in their tiny lot, I approached the store and saw a little white sign that said "cash & checks only". I stopped dead in my tracks and had to fumble around my purse to see if I had some cash on me. Luckily I did. (In case you dont have cash when you stop by, there is an ATM machine inside.) The store is small, but the produce is CHEAP! The posted specials outside was $0.10/lb for brown onions and $0.25/lb for bananas. Like the other reviews previously stated, there are also $1 bag produce (some examples of the $1 bag contained items such as 3 corns, 4~5 red bell peppers, 5~7 cucumber). Some other items they had were 2 spinach for $1 and 4 green onions for $1. Peaches are $0.49/lb and green seedless grapes were $0.79/lb.These prices are definitely WAY CHEAPER than Ralphs on sale items. Yes, some of the produce are a bit bruised. So be prepared to spend a bit of time finding the perfect fruits and veggies. Even with that being said, I will definitely be stopping at George's in the future! You can get bags of zucchini fresh asparagus heirloom tomatoes and whatever they have in the special dollar bins for the week. I also love the fact they have fresh shaved Parmesan, feta cheese, Kalamata and fresh marinated green olives.. in large containers... fresh and there's NO possible way you could go to any grocery store get feta cheese that fresh for that price ever. The only reason I did not put five stars is because some of the regular priced items like lettuce and parsley things of that nature on the wall often look tired. Don't much care about that because they always have huge bags of salad... bacon ranch salad pre-prepared salads & anything you can imagine AND they're only $1 and they're always fresh! I love this place. I don't understand the one-star reviews I'm not the one to say they are or not valid but I have never experienced that before in my life and everyone there has always been incredibly polite to me. Not sure where they get their produce but its crazy cheap. Many $1 per bag fruit and veg but most are from frozen so some I have purchased look good on the outside and once cut open its rotten. Prices are for sure on the low side but the quality will be lacking, like some watermellons i have purchased has no taste. Its usually crowded in the afternoon and they constantly refill inventory so I never see empty shelves even with so many people. For years I would drive by George's Produce without realizing how much greatness I was missing out on. The exterior of the building isn't the brightest but what lies inside is treasure. As soon as you walk through the door, you feel a rush of confusion as you ponder at what's in front of you. Everything seems so pleasantly different. The air smells of dirt and freshness: work. You look around and to see colorful variations of fresh fruits, vegetables, cheeses, herbs, seasonings, nuts, grains, and even some candy. Steps. Your feet rub against the grimy floor and you glare that the great deals in front of you. You get closer and closer, using your senses to determine the quality of the produce. The produce is vibrant and bright or deep with color. Fantastic. Their tomatoes are very firm, slightly plump depending on the kind that you buy and I haven't found many with impurities on them such as bruises or blotches. They often have about 2 to 3 different kinds at a time and they're all great. The cheese is proportioned in different quantities so you can choose how much would fit for your budget (the cheese is also very cheap and delicious). Here are some pros: - It's small and constantly filled with people so fresh produce goes in and out very quickly ensuring that there aren't any leftover fruits and vegetables. - They have some great prices and deals that can fit almost any budget. - If you live in el Monte and want some great local fresh and cheap produce, this is a great place to go. - The staff are very friendly. Yep, you heard me.......just go to George's Farmer's Market between Tue and Sat, and you will never return to your local supermarket. Now, it's nothing to look at, but, you will come out with a full basket --- a full grocery cart for about $33.00 compared to 70.00 at the OTHER store. Today they had, 2 heads of cauiflower, large bags of tomatoes, 2 bunches of celery (hearts or regular), 4 heads of romaine, a bag of limes, a bag of bell peppers....each only a $1.00, Oh, did I say, the peppers could be red, green or gold at no extra price? I could go on and on, because I am sooo happy....I FILLED my frig! Also, best oil prices for deep frying, dried beans, nuts and inexpensive flowers. Wow! I've lived in El Monte for a long time and I didn't know about this place? How?? The parking lot is tiny, and there weren't that many cars but... again, wow! I was so surprised to see how crowded it was. It was filled with a bunch of people, but not so much that one can't walk around freely. I was drawn to the $1.00! $1.00! signs...everywhere! It made me so happy. It's clean, and though it has many different sections, it's mostly clear how its organized. They sell all kinds of cheeses, dry goods, and beans, in addition to the veggies and fruits they have on specials! There was so much here - I was so surprised, because I thought it'd be a sort of fruit stand-turned-market. Actually, it's more like, well, a produce store. Huh. They also sell things like canned foods, condensed milk, and crackers, as well as flowers. I feel like everything's so cheap here. lol So, of course, buy everything. One tip, though : make sure you check out the bagged produce that's ONLY ONE DOLLAR FOR EACH(!!) before you go about your business. I had to put back some stuff because they were actually in the $1 bags. Everyone's milling around, and it's generally really friendly. Feels like a mom and pop type of place. I think it's cash only, though. If Superior didn't exist literally 2 minutes away from my house, instead of George's 10 minute distance, I'd definitely frequent this place more often. Their deals are very similar to Superior's Wed & Thur produce deals - everything just looks cheaper because it's marked down to how much each pound is. For example, $0.25 / lb for brown onions (today's deal), so that would be four pounds for a dollar - the same price Superior sells them for, advertising "4lbs for $1." So, keep that in mind.
