My first time at this Vons in San Dimas, on the same street as Raging Waters. I was here after a beauty appointment and saw that they had a Vons across the street. So I decided to pop in to get a few essentials that I needed. I got a couple of bananas, a dozen eggs, saltine crackers, and a rotisserie chicken that I wanted to try since it was Rosemary and Garlic on it. The supermarket itself seemed pretty organized and the shelves were stocked with a lot of products. The checkout though had only two staff members and the line was a little long. But overall the employees were super nice. They should maybe have one more clerk on hand. The chicken was tasty as well! read more

Probably the nicest cashier I have ever encountered works here, she is super polite, helpful and just overall a decent human being. About (10) days ago, l purchased a bouquet of flowers, roses and a mix, for $20. Normally, about (5-6) days, the flowers will begin to wilt. But, this recent purchase is still thriving, and the buds continue to bloom. I'm impressed. My past experiences even from professional florists, - flowers rarely last (7) days. This is my go-to Vons for essential groceries. Even though this is located in a neighboring city, it has better parking and less traffic in the shopping center than two other nearby Vons. I had exceptionally good service from (Chris, Bakery Manager and Megan who took my initial order). They offer custom made sandwiches, hot deli food (chicken and potato wedges) to cole slaw and various pasta salads. I have also order birthday cakes and when making a change a few days later, they were able to do so in a friendly and efficient manner. On June 1st, I was hosting a baby shower and serving a Thanksgiving dinner. I recalled that Vons offers a "bread basket" with 12 dinner rolls during the holidays. I didn't see this item listed in their website or brochure at the store. Megan indicated she would ask the Bakery Manager if they could do this in June. The difference between these dinner rolls and the regular ones sold on a daily basis, is the "bowl/basket" is edible and makes a nice presentation on the dinner table. As promised, Megan called the next day and stated they could fulfill my order for six baskets. I also received a phone from Chris (Bakery Manager) to confirm 6 dozen dinner rolls. The day of the party arrived, my rolls were ready at noon, as scheduled. This may seem like an ordinary request to most people, but it was made off-season and they could have said it was NOT available. My guests LOVED the bread! The rolls were very tasty, I didn't even need butter for flavor. They were fresh and moist. Special orders and good service keep me coming back. I also recall having trouble creating my account on their app and the cashiers are very helpful in showing me how to "clip" coupons and save in my "wallet." They can prepare large orders and party trays at the Bakery and deli. Need a nice flower arrangement or gifts? They have a lady making bouquets for every holiday and special occasion. My visits to the Vons at the Via Verde location have always been pleasant. The store is right in the neighborhood, in such a convenient plaza, and it makes daily shopping so much easier for local families. The staff are helpful, and it really feels like a community market. It's a bit of a drive for me, but it's worth it - I don't need to stress about parking because there's so much of it, the employees always welcome me with a smile and are more friends than strangers, and the pricing can't be beat. It has everything I need at prices that don't bust the budget. Organized, clean, and easy-to-spot deals. I go there to decompress from a full day of work. Sometimes, grocery therapy is what I need instead of a spa day. I love their prepared food section. Chicken tenders, wings, fries, salads...you can't go wrong there because they'll have something for even the pickiest person. They also have a clearance corner - lots of goodies there! That's where they usually put items from the last holiday. Think - chocolates after Valentine's Day or green sprinkles after St. Patty's Day. I visited this Vons while waiting for my dogs who were at the vet . I had to pick up a few things. Tomatoes being one of them. The store is very small but has a little of everything. However the y looks very run down and not well cared for. A lot of produce looked old and spoiled. I was nervous about purchasing anything that was not pre packaged/canned for fear of spoilage. Some of the packaged food such as bread were expired. Thank don't think I will be returning. Next time i bring my dogs to vet i'll just wait for them in my car. read more

This is clearly an exceptional grocery store. I have been looking for a new grocery store for 2 months because I recently moved to this area. I've tried sprouts, Trader Joe's, stater brothers and others. I finally drove a bit farther and went to Vons Via Verde. Wow, it is a breath of fresh air. The organic section is complete, fulfilling my every need. The meat department is beautiful, with enticing meat at every turn. They have a decent assortment of special diet food, although this could definitely be expanded upon, that is my only observation of needed improvement. The store is very clean and the service is exceptional. I was buying pumpkins, large, fantastic , fairy tail pumpkins. I could not lift them. There was an employee outside, Mark. I asked him to help me. He was on his break, but he skipped his break to help me. That's special service. I'll gladly drive out of my way to shop at this store, especially with such good employees. I shopped here today, cashier was Samantha. I said good morning to her, she looked away, scanned my items and asked me if I wanted a bag. I was getting cash back and she looked so disgruntled while waiting for the receipt to print and the drawer to open. This was such lack of customer service. I don't expect anyone to jump through hoops for me, a simple "Good Morning" sets the tone for a better experience. Maybe she was having a bad day or was sleepy, it was 6:47 a.m. when I was there. She expertly displayed that she did not want to be there and was put off that a customer with 3 items interrupted her standing around. I am retired from my job in the pharmacy at Walmart. The customer service at this grocery store is amazing! Led by Store Operations Director, Favi Perez, our entire family couldn't be happier to have this store and this team available to us! On an exceptionally crazy Saturday, our niece was graduating APU, we new we needed help. The week prior, we finally knew how many would be celebrating at our home and I called Vons to see if they could help prepare what we wanted. Deli, in-store items, a small decorated cake...and could they deliver it? The answer was YES to all the above AND Favi said she'd deliver it personally. This Vons in San Dimas is a bit hidden. Who other than the surrounding neighbors would have known there's a franchised supermarket in their hood? Apparently a lot of people do, since they're quite well stocked in groceries. The supermarket is clean, has a friendly staff of employees, and sells a lot of different merchandise. A well stocked beverage department, a good variety of fruits and vegetables, a decent meat department, flowers, and lots of groceries is equivalent to a great supermarket. Prices are about normal compared to other supermarkets, but obviously a little more expensive than grocery warehouse markets. But convenience catering to the surrounding neighborhoods is fine with paying a little more. Keep up the good work, Vons! read more

Just like everyone else, I've been shopping here since before I was born. Hahaha. I even worked here in high school! Yes, before I was a reactor mechanic I was a grocery bagger. It gave me character and good work ethic. Anyway this Vons has everything you need! The shelves are usually fully stocked and the employees are really nice! The deli department and bakery department are combined which is cool! It's not a huge vons so everything is easy to find. If you can't find what you are looking for ask an employee. They are usually helpful and if they give you lip tell them you are a mystery shower! Ha ha jk! Overall, this Vons is awesome and less than a mile from most of the neighborhood. Right smack dab in the middle of Via Verde. I'm not kidding, most of us walk there just to burn off a few calories. read more

They really do try their best to be personable to their customers. Upon checking out, the cashier would usually take a quick peek at my name (credit card, rewards card, etc) and greet me using my last name. They butcher it each and every time, but at least they try :). Clean. Always stocked. Seldomly crowded. Always cold. I am very disappointed with the deli department at the Vons Via Verde . I love their sandwiches but many times they are out of bread? I mean the whole isle is full of bread to purchase but when I want a sandwich they sa they are out of bread? I have spoken to the manager and she told them to take one of the bread to us.They had a big discussion about how the deli is not supposed to do that . I would not complain but this has happened many times .Do you think if you were having great sales that they could keep bread on hand to make sandwiches? I frequent this Von's, it is rather small but convenient, however I must remove a star for their meat department. In general, I not a fan of Von's meats, and by George, this one is terrible. I have bought rancid meat here and have had to return it not one but two times. No bueno, and I do not buy fresh meats here anymore. The produce is just OK, and I like their deli and its never too crowded. Their breads are really good, live the French and Italian loaves. The cashiers are always courteous, but sometimes a bit chatty, and if youre in a hurry, like I always am, it can be a challenge to not become impatient. The staff also needs to be mindful of opening lanes when someone with mile-high piled cart pulls in... they need to respond quicker to open another lane. At the end of the day, though, all the employees here are all very sweet, and seem happy to serve their customers. I particularly appreciate their wine section here... very well stocked ... but please get my Beringer White Merlot Back in the fridge right now , guys!! Vons doesn't care about their customers. They are only taking minimum precautions for their employees, a lame attempt at a plexiglass barrier that is too small to be protective and red X's on the floor so that customers don't crowd the check stand. T As for their customers, they crowd us in line without opening another check stand. Meanwhile, an employee wants to buy something so the manager opens up a check stand just for this employee to check out quickly, while the customers who have been waiting are told to stand behind the red X on the floor and crowd into the isles of the store. Nobody wiping the handles of the shopping carts like the other stores I have shopped. I really will avoid this store at all costs. read more

THIS Vons has super friendly staff. I called shortly after the Holidays to ask about Egg Nog. They had a few flavors left, and I asked them to save me a few of the original one. This location was my 4th attempt. After running around town, calling here and there, it was great to finally find a store that still carried that drink. I don't blame the other stores for running out. Obviously it's the "Holiday Drink" so they all ran out. Once we got there, two people approached us asking if we need help. Yes, I certainly do. I was looking for the guy I spoke with over the phone, that placed my drinks on hold. He brought those drinks to us, was super friendly, and courteous. While there, we also bought a few bags of grapes. Not the freshest looking, but was craving grapes. Once I got home, and opened the bag, they had already started molding. Yuk. I was going to give them a 3 star, but since I had super service there, I rather go up a notch. ;) read more

Today i bought some horrible horrible guacamole. It tasted so bad that i had to go back to return it, i am so thankful that i tasted it before putting it on my food but it still made me lose time going back to the store to get fresh avocados instead. The supervisor was so indiferent to this event that it made me write this review. I asked for a courtesy coupon or something for the trouble and he just said "no we dont give that". The biggest problem is the level of indiference he shows towards this, if i ate that guacamole and got sick they would have a bigger problem on their hands. I usually do not shop at Vons due to the prices. I've always considered the higher prices being due to the better customer service, the Starbucks and other customer services they provide. When I just need one or two grocery items I'll make a trip. It's always super clean in the store. Sometimes the aisles can be confusing. They have groceries, a card section, beer/alcohol, bakery, fresh baked items, deli, and a household section. If your a club member you can even find good deals at times. read more
