I still really love this store overall, but after years of shopping here there are a few issues, the main one being their overly soaked lettuce. Most of the lettuce can take it, but their red lettuce cannot, which is my favorite. Every time it is soaked, I mean hold-upside-down-dripping- with-water soaked, and then it deteriorates quickly even if I wash and roll it in towels immediately when I get home. I've asked them if there is a way to change where the red leaf is, so it does not get so much water, but they don't seem to care. Now I can't even buy red leaf at this store, which is really inconvenient. The red leaf is not like soaked at other stores, so I'm not sure why it is here. Well, it's winter now, and I'm getting all my lettuce from my garden, but I'll check the red leaf again when my crop runs out. Also, they have a million types of the same bread (how much white bread do we really need?), but only have one selection of dark rye that is often out. If you see this, please try dark rye. It makes great meat sandwiches. I love it for my Tuna and Turkey Sandwiches. Maybe if more people get it, they'll buy more! ;) They also got rid of my favorite Pomi boxed tomatoes. We went to the prepared food section to get a few items and the woman behind the counter who is wearing sunglasses with cleaning equipment. Two minutes had passed by before she even acknowledged us. We smiled and said hello and she didn't smile back, which made things feel very awkward. She took our order and gave us our items and again we said thank you very much and smiled, and she just turned away. As he went on with our shopping, we felt that we imposed on her and that we were bothersome in someway just on her body language, and the fact that she didn't respond to our smiles or hellos. I feel Albertsons could do a lot better in managing their employees to treat customers with respect and kindness. I think from now on, we'll go and do our shopping elsewhere. . Imagine having 9 self checkouts open and 1 human checker with a line spilling into the isle and telling people "the self checkouts are 15 items only, go wait in line." We came in here to do a little grocery shopping and to see what deals they had on sodas. The Coca-Cola products sign said, "buy 2 get 2 free," so I purchased 4 12-packs for my son's team. When I got to the checkout, the deal did not pop up, even after I put in my phone number. What I didn't know, and the cashier never told me, was that deal was through the app only! I only found that out after I came back the next day to complain to guest services and this rude bleached blonde woman told me that was the app deal only and a lot of stores are doing that (which is b.s., Stater Bros. doesn't do that!). I called customer service, which was even more useless, and she told me to take the receipt to the store to try and get a refund. I told her at least twice that I already did that! I don't know what is going on with this store, but the customer service sucks! Shop at Stater Bros., much friendlier and the prices are not deceiving, you get what you pay for! read more

10/11/24 Maybe it's an OFF kind of day but today customer service took a hit. Came in for buttermilk, butter, half & half, & sour cream, needed a QUICK-no muss-no fuss experience & what I got was... "Sorry, not today" Went to the self checkout to be expeditious but ran into a problem so I hit the button for HELP, no one came. Waited for a few minutes, popped my head to show the checks stand on the next aisle & waved the universal "I need help" sign, the cashier & bagger saw me--- I thought they'd send someone... waited another few minutes, nothing. A couple next to me ran into a problem, they, too, waited. Exasperated, I almost thought. "Hey I should just leave with my stuff without paying since no one is paying any attention to me any way". I finally figured it out & paid, left cursing under my breath. Now I remember the reason that I rarely go to Albertson's. The store is well stocked, clean, prices are fairly steep (since customer service is below par), parking is plentiful. I will take my business where i feel appreciated. Without being willing to explain how ive been treated by the mgmt in this store several times now with regards to a botched up on line order (that, by the way, they charge a fee for and RARELY have organic in stock and switch it to non-organic without approval) me being very sick and awaiting major surgery, im just in too much pain today. I've been shopping here for the past decade and a half and I am satisfied with the selections they have of canned goods, ice cream, dairy products, jarred goods, and baked products. They also have specials and discounts from time to time, so just pay attention to updates from the app. Whatever your budget is, you can make it work here. I adore the employees. They are always kind to me and treat me and my family so well. We always exchange pleasantries and I've gotten to know many of them through the years. During the pandemic, being able to chat with them kept me sane. They were my only in-person socialisation! I also appreciate that there is a Starbucks here (and they offer lots of deals through the app) so I can get my caffeine fix before I start shopping. There's also a UPS drop off station that serves as an Amazon return center and offers various other services like notarizations. I always feel super productive anytime I'm at Albertsons. It is so great that the grocery is organized, well-lit and clean. And all the carts have wheels that work properly - don't you just hate it when you get a cart that has only 2 or 3 of the wheels that turn? You'll never have that issue here. Sometimes when I'm having a bad day, I come here to decompress. I'm not sure why but being here always cheers me up. Know though that you'll always bring home more stuff than you expected (because they offer great deals!) so make sure you give yourself a nice pep talk prior to entering and stick to that budget! read more

The training for the lead employees at this store is clearly lacking. My husband and I used the self-checkout and were wrongly accused of stealing. Mistakes can happen -- perhaps the employee didn't see us pay -- but the way the situation was handled was completely inappropriate and against proper training standards. As someone who previously worked as a supermarket manager, I can say this with confidence. An employee named Ruby ran out of the store, yelling, 'You didn't pay for that! You can't take it!' -- without first verifying the situation. We had, in fact, paid, and we were able to show our receipt immediately. Once she realized her mistake, it was clear she felt embarrassed. Proper training should always emphasize verifying facts and calmly asking questions before making accusations. The experience was unprofessional and completely avoidable with the right approach. read more

This location is my go to for grocery shopping. It has ample parking and places to return the carts without having to walk them all the way back up to the store. One of the largest most organized and clean Albertson's around. They have a bakery, which always has fresh baked goods and you can order personalized cakes there as well. The butcher is fantastic. He takes all the fat off of the meat that I order and chops it into small pieces for me. Always has a good selection of fresh beef. There is a pharmacy inside which is helpful. They also have a UPS store inside, as well as a red box, coin exchange, lotto machine. And the bonus is a Starbucks! I always grab a yummy drink before shopping. read more

This is probably one of the biggest and cleanest Albertsons that I've been to. Shelves are always fully stocked, bakery items are fresh and the butchers at the meat department are there to help. Last week, I was looking for a place where I could buy two dozen Halloween cupcakes to bring to work. I wasn't a huge fan of the cupcakes because they were dry and too sweet, but you get what you pay for. It was only $17.99 for 2 dozen custom cupcakes. Although, I wasn't a fan of their cupcakes, I did have a great customer service experience over the phone. The young lady that helped me was named Daniella. Although she seemed new and it took longer for her to take my order, her kindness outshined the negatives. She was patient and genuine and was able to jot down all the information I gave her for my order. I specifically asked for 1 dozen white and 1 dozen chocolate. I asked what Halloween toppers they had and specifically asked for just the ghosts and pumpkins. In addition to that, I requested the colors purple, white and green for the buttercream frosting and to not put the ghosts on the cupcakes with the white frosting. She did everything I requested! This location is always clean, well stocked and never ridiculously busy. The deli has great salads and sides as per usual with Albertsons delis. The meat counter has a great selection and okay prices, the registers are ample and the line isn't too terrible depending on the time of day you come. The only drawback is the serious lack of staffing. The counters are often low on helping hands and the ones that are there aren't the friendliest. Perhaps I'm accustomed to the smoking faces of my other go-to for groceries (the one where they wear Hawaiian shirts) so the lack of enthusiasm really hits home here. They're not unfriendly but they're not exactly warm either. Perhaps that's an issue concerning management because employees always behave in a way that's reflective of how they feel they're treated. read more

Hi, I like shopping at Albertsons I only wish this particular one was closer to the house. We only have Vons and Stater Bros so we make this trip out to this Albertsons when we are looking for a better selection or we area ready to do the huge, stock up, shopping. Some may say this place is over priced, but I will gladly pay more for what this place has to offer. It has an awesome deli section. An abundance of already prepared options for those times that there just does not seem to be time to cook. I also am a big fan of the bakery and the very nice selection of artisan breads they offer. The vegetable and fruit selection is the best in the area.... I love the fact that they display the produce so well and the fruit selection is so varied. Love this store, love the selection..... I walked into this location with my coupon for a free refill of Primo water 5 gallons. The coupon said free water up to 5 gallons I had an empty container turned it in want to get a fresh container of water and the cashier per the manager would only takeoff $2.45. I understand the maximum price at the bottom says $2.45 however the coupon says free water refill up to 5 gallons. The manager what appear to be a Hispanic woman with dark hair honored it after I had to continually debate with her over some simple water the coupon is definitely confusing, she even took a picture of it and I let her know can you bring it up to management because these coupons that I have says 5 gallons. I try to explain to her I go to Walmart in Glendora and it's an even exchange she had such an attitude like she owned Albertsons and told me, "well I'm not gonna argue with you and you can get your bottle back and take it to Walmart because we don't do that here at Albertson's as if Walmart is some low class place for someone as myself. I try to be as nice as possible but this woman was so cocky even one of the customers in the store said "oh I'll pay for her water". I thanked the customer and let her know it wasn't necessary because the coupons is free! I reminded her "I'm not arguing with you" but as a customer as well as a manager we need clarification on this coupon. She was very condescending with that snooty look in her eyes. I will never return to this Albertson's and I live right here in La Verne. The other cashier that was trying to help me it was very very nice it was the manager that was being so rude and made me feel like I do not belong in that store. OUTCOME: 5-Stars given to another manager named Gina who I spoke with later that afternoon, by simply making acknowledgment to my issue and apologized. She understood why I was disappointed; it had nothing to do with the price of the water, it was the initial manager's attitude and her curt and ridiculing response regarding the coupon. Huge store. Great prices. They have the brand of dog food I like. The only negative thing I've found is they don't seem to carry much champagne. Other than that, I have nothing to complain about. I have lived in La Verne for 35 years and have been going to this Albertsons since they opened. I've always had very good experience when I'm shopping here since it's very well stocked and clean environment. However right before Thanksgiving, I went to the meat department to get some prime rib since it was on special. The staff who helped me, a guy in his 40s not particularly friendly, asked what he can help me with. I asked for the prime rib and he started preparing it and as he was doing it, I politely asked if there were more lamb chops since there were only 3 on display. He appeared irritated and responded with "Can't you tell that I'm the only one here?". What I should've said was "and I'm the only customer here"! Instead I said "thank you" and just left as soon as I got the prime rib. I also returned about 2 weeks later and was unfortunately helped by the same staff. Again he seems irritated that this other customer and I were even buying anything at the meat counter. I understand people have good days and bad days. However as a customer, I expect some type of professionalism when I'm at your establishment. If this staff is not happy with his job he should be placed somewhere in the store where he doesn't need to deal with customers. I'm seriously considering not going to this store because of this but again I've had good experience otherwise. Alternatively if you can tell me his off days I will try to shop on those days. But we were recently here to pic up some things and visit my brother during the holidays to get some food. Nice deli area with good customer service. Theyve hired a bunch of new people. This review is strictly for the sushi they sell in the refrigerated section. It's actually really good! I consider it my secret. Although, people must be catching on because it sells out really quickly. Usually by 7 or 8pm, it's sold out completely. I would've thought it would've been like any store bought sushi, aka, hard rice or gross fish. It's not like that though. The rice is fresh made and it's actually sticky like Japanese rice should be. The fish is surprisingly fresh and I haven't gotten a piece I didn't like. I don't know if every Albertsons have this, but it's really good here read more
