Only downside was lack of parking since it's in the Fan so I had to walk a bit to get there from my parking spot. Note to melanated folks, be sure to check mirrors before you leave and bring a swim cap because I left out totally relaxed but looking like a "ghost" with white streaks all down my face and in my hair due to the salt from the float tank... highly recommend due to great experience. read more

I treated myself to the float spa and I would highly recommend it! At first I was nervous about the fact I wouldn't float but the staff assured me I would. I chose the tub vs. the pod as I've gotten a little claustrophobic in my older years. The room was clean and they have products available to shower and wash your hair before you get in. The room itself appeared to be very clean. Once you step inside the tub, you can leave the door open if you feel too closed in and you can turn on/off the meditating music they have playing but I highly suggest you close the door and let the water and music take you away. The water was slightly warm and once I got in and situated I let my mind go I floated very easily and forgot all my troubles. I hated when my time was up because I could've floated longer. Preston worked at the front desk and was so freaking nice!!! The vibe is very earthy, hippie and organicy. Preston floats once a week and really gave good advice for me to prepare. The first time they have you do a float room. I LOVED IT!! You don't need to know how to swim. You just float baby. First massage at Vitality, and while I love the salon itself (the decor is nice, great central location, pleasant staff, simple booking process, etc.) the massage itself was less than great. They ask in advance what degree of pressure you prefer. I said hard. Even asked her to apply more pressure, and she still didn't. The masseuse seemed like she was right out of massage therapy school and was afraid to touch me... handled me like an infant. I asked her not to touch my face or scalp (hate oil in my hair), but she did anyway. The AC was on directly above me, which made me cold. Massages should be warm and relaxing. I feel like I need to book another massage for, like, tomorrow. Somewhere else since I really didn't get much relief. What I did enjoy about the massage was the cupping, which was a new experience for me. I'd definitely do that again. read more

This place is fabulous!! I heard about it through my massage therapist who is also a Master Herbalist and makes a lot of the soaks abs teas for vitality. My friend and I decided to book a float session. I have done it before but it was her first time. I like how they have 2 options, a pod and a room. My friend thought she may not be able to be completely closed off so I told her she could pick which one she wanted to use. The first time the employee gave us an awesome run through and they really have thought of everything. Ear plugs, ointment if you have any open cuts, a comb, shower, facial products, you name it. My friend actually chose the pod so I got the room. I LOVED IT!! I will say I still need to work on being able to clear my mind to truly enjoy everything. I think I get about half of the time to really relax. The rest of the time I'm playing in the salt lol. Check it out!! They also do massages and a sauna and various other aervice Update 2/20 So I removed a star. When I got there I had to wait for 15 mins for someone to show up to the front. And when I was finished I had to wait for 15 mins after my float for someone to come so I could make sure everything was good. Best birthday gift I have ever gotten. Literally I was so excited to receive this gift and we made it a full-on girl's day. The service was impeccable. There was a slight miscommunication when my friend made the reservation but the servers we're so accommodating. basically the pod was being cleaned and so the two of us couldn't take our floats at the same time. But they allowed us to hang out in the sauna until the pod in the room was ready. They made sure we were comfortable and had tea and water. They were so apologetic about the mix-up. I took the pod which was a big step for me because I thought it would be claustrophobic; it was amazing. I felt like I was floating in space and it was easily controllable from the inside of the pod. My friend loved the room float she said that it was completely relaxing. The employees went through a brief rundown of what was going to happen and was very good about explaining what to do and what we should expect. It's basically addressed your comforter level I were bathing suit and my friend for her birthday suit. The towels were phenomenal. And the even had face wash, lotion, combs, ear swabs and a blow dryer available for after our float. Tips: bring a plastic bag to put your bathing suit in afterwards. Arrival little early so you can hang out in the sauna. Don't eat anything heavy or drink any caffeine before your quote. And do your research because I would have definitely added some lavender senses to my float if I knew. Definitely going back! I know what I'm getting all of my girlfriends for gifts in the future. Because of the mix-up with the reservation they were even nice enough to give us a discount in a little bit extra time. My second experience at Vitality Float Spa was much more peaceful than my first one. I was greeted by a friendly staff member that exuded a calm energy not only to myself, but to other patrons. I had never floated in a float room, and it was amazing! Once I turned the room light off, and closed the inner doors of the float room...there was almost zero dark. I floated with darkness and silence. I came out of the float very thirsty for water and rejuvenated. I coincidentally booked a float on a Friday evening that happened to be day with a full moon and a lunar eclipse. The float was a perfect way to release stress and old stagnant energy, and welcome energy of renewal and fresh starts. Now I know through experience why the founders of this spa named it vitality. While I'd recommend literally everyone here, I can't speak highly enough of Kenzie. She is so intuitive with her massage. I do a terrible job of pointing to what hurts and she can find the trouble areas with no problem and very little guidance. I am so grateful to have Vitality so close to home! WOW! From start to finish I had a fantastic experience. The mural outside is gorgeous and the inside feels like a jungle oasis. I started with a 60 minute float. They give you everything you will need from ear plugs, to towels, shampoo, conditioner etc. The float was relaxing and facilities very clean. My massage was next with Val. She did a great job and it was definitely one of the best massages I've ever had. I loved how all these extras I'm accustomed to paying for like cupping, hot stones, CBD oil, hot eye mask, we're all included as part of the massage. Had a great first-time floating and the massage was very relaxing. If you haven't floated before, it's worth checking it out. Took me about 20-30 minutes to reach total relaxation so while the 90 minute session was a bit long, the 45 minute session is too short. If you're tipping on services as a percentage using your credit card, know that the software they use will add that same percentage to the TOTAL purchase, including products you buy. Booked a last minute massage here and Amanda NAILED IT! I was in horrible pain, due to my job, and I got to the point where my discomfort was unbearable. I was terribly tensed up in my neck, shoulders, and upper back. I was literally almost crying the night before my appointment; I was hurting that bad. Amanda was amazing! I explained exactly what was going on with my poor, stressed muscles and she tailored my massage so perfectly. I felt SO much better afterward; in just 75 minutes, she managed to restore both my range of motion and my sanity. Amanda said I might be sore afterwards, due to the trigger point therapy. She advised using ice packs. The pain I experienced the morning after my massage was mild and also the "good" kind, as opposed to the "I wish I were dead" pain I dealt with prior. And the ice packs worked great! Also worth mentioning is that I wasn't charged extra for hot stone therapy and essential oils. I couldn't believe they were included; every other massage place charges ridiculous fees for these. AND no pressure to purchase a membership, awesome! I don't have the income to afford regular massages but if I did, I'd absolutely spend it at Vitality. I know their big draw is the float services and I'm looking forward to trying those next. read more

I went with my spouse so we alternated massages and the float experience (we did the couples pack) The massage therapist was great, she explained and answered our questions. I consider myself a bid of a connoisseur of massage, traveling the globe and to the furthest corners of Groupon and yelp to get in as many massages of all shapes and varieties -- BOOM I go to Richmond and my mind is freaking blown. The only way I can really describe my massage with Kenzie is ~OUT OF THIS WORLD~ I lost my sense of time and space and I slipped into a state where my mind went to places in between wakefulness and asleep that were incredibly relaxing and awe-inspiring. At times I forgot I had someone in the same room as me -- better yet, massaging me -- because the rhythm and pace of her hands was so controlled and perfectly in tune with my body. The massage table and head cradle were noticeably luxurious and of a high caliber and it was exceptionally easy to get comfy. Not to mention the de-lish and not overbearing essential oils she was using. The massage was full of surprises and there was never a dull moment. She used techniques I have never experienced before and post-massage explained what was going on with my body demonstrating her clear understanding of what had gone down and what I had needed. But, I already knew THAT. The woman is a genius. I really CANNOT recommend this spot enough. I visited this establishment hoping it would be a great experience for it being my first time. I selected the 90 minute float. The establishment was very clean. The employees were very nice. The downfall was after 30 minutes of being in the float tank my skin was itching very badly. I had to get out of the water. When I walked out of the room the two ladies working were surprised to see me out of the room so quickly. I let them know I had to get out of the water due to my skin itching so badly. I would have thought they would have offered me a little refund since I couldn't stay for the full 90 minutes. . . The parking for this establishment is horrible. You need an extra 15 minutes to find a parking spot. Also, having a blow dryer available to your customers would be a nice amenity. read more

First time ever doing a float, and it was an interesting experience. I had a limited idea of what to expect, based on some online research. I would say Vitality's website could do a better job at explaining the service and providing some tips and tricks for a first time floater. Two of us came here recently, and the spa has only two areas for floats - one is a pod, and the other is a "room" which is basically a tub. When we arrived, we were given a full, quick rundown of what was about to happen. We had to sign a waiver and fill out a form to select lighting color, background sound, and temperature preferences. There are 2-4 options per bucket, and I went with purple lighting, ocean waves, and a warm room. We were warned that ocean waves is really like white noise; after the experience, I can confirm that! It really wasn't waves at all. The purple lighting was a nice hue, and the temp in the room was perfect at ~74 degrees. You can change it if you want too. We were given a quick tour of the float rooms. Each comes with its own shower, towels, robes, shampoo, floating head rests, ear plugs, and lotion. It's a large enough space for you to walk around. You are given about 6 minutes to rinse first and a voice will come on telling you to get in for your timed float session. We did a 60-minute experience which means you are in the water for the full 60 minutes. I liked that it is not cut short by you having to rinse before and after the actual float, so you end up spending more than an hour at the facility. The actual float was too long for my liking, but it was cool just to lay around and naturally lay elevated. The water has 1,000 pounds of salt! I ended up getting out a little early, I think around the 50 minute mark. I didn't get super in tune with myself or meditate, two things that I think most floaters do. Maybe I wasn't stressed enough to truly appreciate what a sensory deprivation tank can do. I wish the website was a little more educational; I think 30 minutes or 45 minutes would have been more reasonable. Even still, I think it is awesome that Vitality offers this unique service, and the price is economical! Overall, I think it was a cool experience, and my skin was super soft afterward. The one thing I wish I brought with me was a hairbrush and product. The bathroom was well-stocked with a combs and lotion, but I needed my own stuff. Also, when we were done, there was a couple with an appointment who needed to wait 10-15 minutes upon arrival because we had just used the float rooms, and the staff cleans them after each use. Even with those considerations, you can basically show up and be ready to float! Vitality also offers cupping, more traditional massages, and other spa services. It is so different from other places in the area! I am interested in trying something more traditional, because the customer service here was really nice. Plus, you can buy some well-priced spa goodies like creams and oils - They make great gifts. Bottom line: A float is a cool experience, but for first-timers, I recommend a shorter duration. Do some research online to see if it's for you, otherwise visit Vitality for any of its other pampering services! read more

Hands down one of the best massages I've gotten in some time. Antonina is a gem! The float afterward... eh. Don't get me wrong, it was fine. But I had to wait 20 minutes upstairs in a robe between sessions since someone was late to their float appointment. (Which kinda takes you out of zen/relation mode.) They took me to the float room as it was still being cleaned to wait in the doorway. Then once I was in the tank, the settings they asked me to choose weren't set up. (Sounds, temp - I was a lil chilly). Also had no idea until I was finished and dressed that there was a separate restroom where you could take your time getting ready afterwards. They did apologize for the timing mess afterward. But I feel like everyone else had has SUCH amazing experiences here. I really wanted to love this place as much as others in RVA seem to. LOVED Vitality Float Spa!! My husband & I are from Charlottesville, VA- but we visited Richmond a couple of weekends ago for a wonderful weekend getaway. This place was AWESOME! Walking in, you are immediately welcomed with greenery, a cozy & calm atmosphere, and warm smiles. We did kind of a couples experience: Hubby floated first in the "Float Room", then had his massage. I did massage first then floated in the "Float Tank". Being a Massage Therapist myself, I will say that I was very impressed with my massage! Both of our massages were with SUMMER whom was fabulous, professional, comforting, had skilled and relaxing hands, knew how and when to use appropriate pressure, and is also an Esthetician. She was sweet and passionate about her profession, which always makes me excited to receive bodywork. Even though our float experiences were in different settings, we both LOVED our floats and felt totally relaxed after!! Showers are in the room with you, so no hopping into a robe to cross the hall while dripping with salty water. The room was the perfect temperature & well decorated. The debriefing beforehand was extremely helpful and made me feel comfortable and prepared for my first float!! :) (They provide ear plugs, Vaseline for any tiny cuts you may have, and a wash cloth & fresh water in a spray bottle in case you get the salty water in your eyes. ) Floating was VERY meditative and serene-- even for an Extrovert. I had a really great experience here yesterday. I booked a one hour massage with Taylor and it was great. I love how there are complimentary add ons to their massages and of course i had to try them all. Taylor let me pick out the essential oil blend I wanted to try and explained the benefits of cupping.
