I decided i needed a ME day. So I've been eyeballing Dream Float on Yelp for months. It's located off Laskin Rd and it has alot of benefits like better sleep, pain relief, peace of mind, lowers blood pressure, and more. I was skeptical but today i got out of my comfort zone and tried it. I am really glad i did. I went online and booked my appointment. You get a private room with a shower and towels and wash clothes, and theres a big pod with a light inside. You also can choose to listen to music while in the pod. Afterwards you can also use their blow dryer and etc to get yourself back together. It cost $59.99 for an hour, but they also have longer sessions and a sauna with red light therapy. The waiting area has alot of fun teas for purchase and the owner gives you a tea blend that relaxes you before your session. The tea was light and really did relax me!!! When i went in the room i was nervous, but the owner helped me understand how to get the best benefits from this. The first 20 minutes was me trying to get comfortable and figure it out. You cannot be tense for it to work. When i relaxed i drifted off to sleep and felt like i was floating on a cloud. It was a very unique and relaxing experience. The pod can be opened or closed and even though I'm claustrophobic i was ok with it. I will definitely be going back. The owner is very nice and informative. I think everyone should try this at least once. You leave feeling soooo calm and relaxed!! Theres alot of salt in the water so your body naturally floats. What an incredible experience. I have always wanted to try a float/sensory deprivation tank, but never have. So I finally decided to give it a shot. Booking my appointment was incredibly easy on their Facebook page. The prices seemed more than reasonable, so I went ahead and booked an open slot. When I arrived Beverly walked me through the whole process, answering any questions that I had and giving me a nice tea to help relax before the float. You'll have an option for music (I would go with Beverly's recommendation of 10 minutes at the beginning and 5 at the end). They have everything you need (towels, washcloths, etc) so the only thing you need to bring is maybe a pair of shower shoes. You'll take a shower in the room before getting into the tank. They'll encourage you to try a bunch of different positions and I would as well! Arms up, arms down, palms up, palms down, head float, no head float. I found that the head float, arms down palms up was the best position for me. I can't recommend this place enough, and will definitely be coming back. read more

Let me begin by saying that I flat out, don't relax well so though this place could be and is amazing for many others, it's just not something that I could do very often! I love the concept of being able to float and relax in the float Spa, however, doing so was actually harder than it looked! If you are claustrophobic, you should be okay as the lid of the tank closes but it's pretty high up so you feel like you have more space! I felt a little enclosed which was one reason I didn't relax as well but overall, a claustrophobic feeling never set in! Back to the first few steps, we got there 10 minutes early per their directions but had to wait quite some time for our tanks to be ready as they had back to back appointments and have to run the cleaning system in between. We didn't get into our rooms until 20-30 minutes after our scheduled appointment time so that wasn't ideal. I will for-warn you that the lobby area lacks any real spa feel but your float tank rooms are much better! Each room has its own glass rain shower for before and after your float and towels, ear plugs, shampoo and everything you need is easily provided for you! The room had a comfortable feeling and the colored glow from the tank was pretty! They also have a little dressing room area for after your float where they provide deodorant, combs, and a hairdryer. Again, I liked the initial experience but given that the time starts at an hour, I found it way too long and actually got out 20 minutes early! How people stay in for 90 minutes, blows my mind! I will share that my boyfriend absolutely loved his float experience that same day and would do it regularly! I tried my best to relax but the struggle was real! I will not be back as it was just not an experience that I want to have again but I do recommend it for anyone looking to try something different as the health benefits are really great and the experience could be awesome for you! read more

I had a gift card to try this place out for a while and finally used it! The lady working was very nice and explained the whole procedure to me in detail. Everything seemed to be in good condition and clean. From what I read here on Yelp that seemed to be an issue with previous owners. You shower off before and after the session. The shower was clean and shampoo and Body wash are provided for you. It took me a little while to get used to the tank and the feeling, but once I acclimated it was awesome!! I thought I would keep the light on in the tank, but being in the dark and silent was a nice change of pace. I will def be back probably next month and work this into my self care routine. Im visiting from out of town and reserved a float session here for my birthday. When I arrived I was on the phone received birthday wishes. The receptionist didn't greet me but the first thing she said was"take that outside" while pointing. From someone with ten years of experience in customer service the pointing gestures were rude and how she worded the statement was out of line for a place of business. I walked to the outside entrance and hung up my phone my proceeded to come inside and ask for a refund because of the customer service. First she said they had a no refund policy. I told her how she was rude and she proceeded to tell me I was rude for entering the establishment on the phone. I understand if this is a rule but for people who may be booking this experience and are ignorant to no phones in the lobby it should be posted somewhere outside prior to entering. I wasn't impressed with this place. It was a little run-down and dingy looking for my taste as far as a spa goes. I stopped in with a friend who had recently done the Float Norfolk and highly recommended it for a relaxing spa day last week and was really looking forward to it. I was concerned because I have REALLY sensitive skin and have had a series of leg problems ranging from infected hair follicles, abscesses, staph, etc. so I'm pretty skittish about anything that could open me up to infection. I did some research and found that if you had recently shaved your legs it might burn a little when you first get in but as long as it's been several hours (it had been around 18 for me) you should be fine so in we went. Things I noticed while inside --- 1- The "primp area" for when you've finished was sparse and had an empty water tank with very little in the way of primp items like you'd find at a spa. It did have some basic Q-tips, hairspray and lotion but that's about it. There were also no chairs anywhere to relax or sit down in once you've finished your float. 2- The tank rooms are pretty tiny and only had one towel --- you'll need more than one really since you are supposed to shower both before and after you get into the tank. 3- They didn't have any head pillows, since you float you don't entirely need them but from my personal experience, and reading the reviews of others, although you do float - for some people it's still uncomfortable on your neck to not have anything under your head when you're trying to be totally weightless and relaxed. So it was an option I wanted to try out but couldn't. 4- The showers are REALLY small - like so small I was hitting my elbows on the sides when I tried to wash myself off and rinse out my hair. I'm 5'4, 118 pounds and VERY petite. I can only imagine how larger people manage not to bang all around. 5- The showers didn't drain well - after showing off when I got out of the tank I took a while to make sure my legs were clean - and the water backed up so I was standing in my own salt water while washing off. 6- There is only one REALLY small bench and some small hooks to put your clothes on in the float room. So I had no where to put my purse, my shoes, my pants, shirt, coat, and towel because it wouldn't all fit. After I had showered off as instructed pre-float - the towel was wet - so I either was going to have to hang it up where I couldn't reach it when I got out - or hang my clothes which didn't really fit well onto the small hooks and kept falling off, or drape the towel over the side of the tank and leave it cracked open.... none of those options were good. There needs to be some place to put your clothes and personal items bigger than the really small stool inside the room. At least a table or something. 7- The inside of the tank had rust on the hinges - which I noticed while floating inside - that was something I was kind'a put off about since it's inside the tank where you're naked floating in the warm water. I know it's always wet but I'd think they'd use some type of metal that doesn't rust and can stand up to constant steam and water. 8- The whole inside of this place is really dark as far as coloring like browns and oranges and dark dark colors - everything is really dark inside and dark (at least to me) is not all zen and relaxing. As far as my float experiences goes, I only floated for about 10-15 minutes because my legs were on FIRE. It didn't subside after 10 minutes and it seemed they were getting worse and welting up. Because I'm traumatized due to my leg issues I got out and washed off immediately. I went and sat outside waiting for my friend and talked to the two folks up front who were very friendly. The staff were great here I must say that - they answered questions and tried to be really helpful. Once my friend was done and came out and we paid they cancelled my charge since I hadn't floated for more than about 15 minutes and said there was no charge. That was nice and is good customer service. I'll float again - I'll just make sure to wait several days after shaving next time. I can see how it would be really relaxing while detoxifying your body. Had my first float today, didn't know what to expect at first but Beverly the owner did an excellent job explaining everything and even started me out with a relaxing tea before I went to the float room. I had to call the lady at the front desk in naked to ask for another bottle, which was already ruining the nice and relaxed moment for me. She told me to use the last little bit in the container by diluting the soap instead of bringing me a new one ... Apparently, they don't stock refills in the back... Second, as soon as I went into the pod, I noticed black mildews, rust on the hinges and hairs on the wall... I was just so disgusted that I felt like leaving the pod asap even though my husband gave me this session as a gift for me to enjoy. I brought what I saw to the attention of the lady, she said it was the cleaning crew's fault instead of apologies and told me to show that to prove that I was not making that up! She wiped off the black streaks and said it was not mildewed... then what is it??? She also asked me why I didn't tell her right away as if it was my fault! I'm not really like 100% sure what I was expecting but it was kinda cool? I've never done a float session so I bought the Groupon 3 sessions for $80. The also offer a great military discount. Anyways, so my best friend and I came here just to try it out. It's a pod with water and tons of epson salt. So you float and relax and whatever you do in there. So you get 2 choices of music. Ocean waves or some sort of African tribal music. And you can have it play for the first and last 5 minutes of your float or you can have it play the whole time. So I did the African tribal for the full time. The music was a little loud and At first I couldn't get comfortable and just relax and float. It took me a good 10-15 mins to figure out how to just relax and float but when I did Whoooooa! It feels like you're literally just floating in mid air. The water is perfect temp so you can't tell which part of your body is in and what part is out of the water. I highly suggest turning the lights off and close the pod top and just float and dream. I had some crazy dreams or thoughts or whatever you would call them. I don't know what it did to my body but it made everything feel so amazing afterwards. (((Even sexy time later that night was better))) I really wish they had a little table or a bigger chair I could set my things on when I got into the pod. They have a stool and that's about it. I received a groupon for this place as a gift and it was my first time floating. Making an appointment was easy and there seemed to be a lot of open availability. I got there and no one was at the front desk, presumably because only one person is working at a time and he was in the back helping someone else (I think). He was quick to have me fill out paperwork and explained everything really quickly, sometimes I had to ask him to repeat himself because he was talking too fast. The rooms with the pods themselves were just okay. They were small and dimly lit, but the bigger issue for me was there was nowhere to put my clothes or towel. I saw one of the rooms had some hangers, but I don't think mine had anything besides one small stool that really only could have fit the towel (if it was folded up). The shower was also super tiny and the water streams straight down so you have to stand in the middle of it to really get good water pressure which was a bit annoying when I had to wash shampoo from my hair. The shower also came stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and face wash which was nice for afterwards. However, the towel and washcloth they provided were very thin and not soft to the skin. One thing I wish was that the "spa" room wasn't communal. It had three sets of a hairdryer, hair spray, lotion, and q tips. I wish they were able to widen the float rooms a bit and add a mirror and a small vanity for these things. The float itself was nice and (from what I can tell) standard. Although they did have construction going on so you could hear jackhammers and the occasional jet flying by, even with ear plugs and music going on. I bought two groupons for this place for my husband and I. It sounded like it would be a nice, relaxing experience. Let's start by saying that their website says to get there at least 15 minutes prior so that they can go over everything and you can fill out paperwork. My appointment was set for 10am today so I arrived at 938am. I waited until 945 to go to the door but when I went to go in, the door was locked. There was no one there. I waited, and waited and waited. Finally a young girl pulls up at 10:11am to open the place. Not a good impression of the place right off the bat. I went in and she rushed me through the paperwork, then took me to the room where she explained what to do. Luckily I am a quick learner, but I felt as though she rushed me through this as well. Explaining everything in under two minutes. Maybe if we had started on time she wouldn't be going through everything so fast. Once I showered and got in the pod, it was nice. It took me about half my time to get used to it but once I fully relaxed it was great. The temperature was perfect and the place was clean. I understand people have bad days so I am willing to give it another try, especially since I paid for two more sessions. Now let me talk about my husbands experience that was right after mine (he had an 1130 apt). He was not comfortable with the experience. I think the pod freaked him out, so he got out early. Once he showered he went out to the lobby and guess what?! SHE WASN'T THERE!!!! She had locked him inside the place and left him alone!! What the hell?!?! He unlocked the door and started coming home when she called him and said she had an "emergency". This is not a good excuse to me. You DO NOT LEAVE PEOPLE ALONE IN YOUR PODS!! This location use to be beautiful when I first came after the opening but last night was not the same experience. It sucks because I love to float and not able to comfortably do it at home. 1. The desk attendant wasn't very comforting or really dressed appropriate for what you offer. I manage a Spa and require my desk to wear business casual to give a more at ease look like they are aware of what they are doing. I'm not really sure what owner would allow their staff to wear jeans and a light gray t-shirt. He ran through everything as a refresher for us which was great! 2. The shower was still wet from someone else which automatically made me wonder the last time they decided to even clean it. The doors were built up with soap scum. 3. The floors in the room were still wet which I find ridiculous because they should be wiped CLEAN AND DRY after every person. It was highly annoying to me that I had to put my wet feet into my shoes because they never dried. 4. The pod had rust at the hinges which doesn't make sense to me because if you are properly cleaning and treating the metal then it shouldn't be rusting. The most disgusting part was the BLACK SLIME in the crevices of the pods. Do they ever get cleaned? This is so gross!!!! The outside of the pod was dirty as well and that is something that should be wiped down daily. I couldn't even float for the whole time because I was so disturbed by the entire experience. The least they can do is put a table in the room for jewelry and such. Plus give people a bath mat to step on so when they go to leave their feet will be dry! There wasn't a clean feeling experience and it seems that they don't care about maintaining any of the equipment or the facility.. As an experienced "Floater", I must say that this place is terrible... I haven't had a pleasant experience at this place once. I have been three times to this particular location. The first time, I was supposed to float for 1 1/2 hours.. The pumps turned on after only one hour, needless to say I was rudely awakened.. Not good.. Also, there is no wash cloth in the shower, or in the pod(in case you get salt in your eyes).. The second time I drove all the way up there from NC after making an appointment online, a 1 hour 45 minute drive.. They were not open when I arrived.. Another client and I waited outside for about 15 minutes, and they never opened.. Got a call from the owner, they apologized and gave me two free two hour floats.. Okay, I can accept that.. Great.. Third trip.. I brought my own washcloth, which turns out was a good idea(again no wash cloth in the pod or shower).. The temperature of the water was not up to par, barely felt 80 degrees. In fact I started to get goosebumps inside the pod after about 45 minutes. The quantity of Epsom salts was minimal, too easy to touch bottom of pod with your butt..Did I mention I am an experienced "Floater"? There is no place to hang your clothes and no place to sit while trying to get dressed... The room is also too cold.. Also, there is too much noise.. You can hear the jets flying over the building.. You can hear the pumps from the other pod when someone finished before you.. Just everything about this place is terrible.. I have one more free float.. I won't be needing it.. I chose to try this out when I saw it on Groupon. I think the prices are too high, but with a Groupon it is not too bad. I LOVE using Epsom salts at home and wanted to see what it would be like to have so much of it that it actually causes you to float! I walked in one Saturday afternoon and asked if they had any openings. They did that moment, so I took that opening. The employee was very nice and led me back to the room to explain how everything works in detail. She then showed me the shower and all the toiletries, etc. She asked me to shower off beforehand and let me know I could shower afterwards as well. It was a very nice shower. I chose to do the tribal music at the beginning and the end of my float. It helps set the mood in the beginning and wakes you up towards the end. I tried floating without the neck float, but it bothered my neck too much. Once I used the neck support, I quickly drifted off into a peaceful wonderland. It was strange at first, then it became very relaxing! I let go off all the tension in my body. Afterwards, I showered off and got dressed. I felt great and relaxed afterwards. Floating is great. You are probably going to have a fantastic experience no matter where you go. The float pods and rooms don't vary much in the float experience; however, this is not my favorite spot because there is just a lackadaisical attitude about everything here. They are not always staffed during posted hours. The staff's comments about floating are not particularly enthusiastic. The shower takes FOREVER to warm up. The towels are not particularly fluffy and they are a greyish brown color that looks like they were just washed a trillion times. One thing that this spot has that is really nice though is the dressing table. If you are a primper, you can take all the time you want getting dressed and ready after your float. It's also more expensive than other float centers, but if you have to float now, they almost always have availability. Don't miss out on floating because of all that. Apparently there was an ownership change. So even though my wife and I had two Groupon sessions each, the new owner apparently doesn't care about honoring them. I understand that they no longer choose to use Groupon and that's the new owners prerogative but they should at least honor the pre-existing commitments. I had wanted to try floating for some time now and was excited to discover this place close to where I was staying for Thanksgiving. I made an appointment, then read the not so great reviews on Yelp. My experience was overall very good. The lobby/reception area was clean and pleasant. Not bright but not dim. The woman who greeted me was professional and helpful. The float room I used was dimly lit and lacking a hook or chair for my clothes but otherwise it was fine. The tank itself was clean and well maintained. The music started about a minute after I pushed the button to let her know I was all set. And the experience was AMAZING! I really loved floating and felt so good afterwards. The music came back on with 5 minutes left, as promised. I do wish there was a locker room or something. It would have been nice to take my time in the shower and then use the lotions provided but since the lotions & hair dryer are in a fairly public space, I had to get dressed first. Not the most clean place. As soon as you walk in, there is dust on the front desk, dust all over the foyer. It makes you question the cleanliness before you even walk to the rooms. The room I had was small and had the faint odor of chlorine. The walls had chipped paint.The pod itself seemed to have a pinkish brown build up in the cracks. The upper portion of the pod above the water where it opens up had a slimy feel. It didn't smell, but I was unsure why that area wouldn't be wiped out after each use. The upper portion had rust and wasn't very appealing to the eyes. You'd think they'd use specific metals in such an environment as not to do this. They only supply one towel and the floor was soaking wet. The shower's drain didn't drain and I stood in my own salty rinse off. When you're done, there's really no lounge area like some float places offer with hammocks and soothing music or soft couches and bottled water. There is a small area similar to what you'd see at a tanning salon. There was cotton swabs( you will need these because the earplugs provided don't keep the water out!!) and hairspray along with a nearly empty self-serve water dispenser. It's unfortunate that they don't offer a tad more luxury for such a high price tag. This place is not worth anymore then the Groupon prices. read more

When I made the appointment the lady on the phone was very helpful and knowledgeable to all my questions. When I came there the receptionist was very polite. The rooms were very clean also. As a first timer you would expect the place to be bright and welcoming and to give you a safe feeling and knowledgeable staff. That was unfortunately not my experience. When I pulled up it looked like the place was closed it was so dark. I had an appointment so I walked up just to check for signs on the door and then realized someone was sitting at the computer from the light reflecting off the computer screen. A young man wearing a draw string hoodie that was pulled tight in a circle around his face confirmed my name and then gave me some paperwork to fill out. I couldn't even see the paperwork well because it was so dark so I asked him if it was always that dark inside. He said yes. I looked up and saw lights on the ceiling that were turned off...i pointed that out and he said oh yeah you might be right and then walked over and turned on a switch and VOILA there was light. I said "Well that's a lot less creepy" and he went back to his desk to proceed watching a scary movie. I'm trying to concentrate on filling out the form while listening to scary background music, a scream and even foul language. This is so unprofessional and for someone in a strange place with a stranger about to strip naked and get in a very vulnerable enclosure it was NOT comforting. I'm not saying this kid was scary...just not trained and unprofessional (which is scary to someone getting in a float tank for the first time). It probably would have helped at least a little bit if he was wearing a uniform. He was wearing basketball shorts and tennis shoes to compliment his hoodie that is still pulled tight (the entire time). He looks like someone's teenage kid that took their shift. Despite the weird feeling I was getting from the whole place I decided to proceed and give him and the place a chance. I didn't want to waste my groupon. I chose the tribal music and he tested it out before I got in to show me what it sounds like. Then he said I would know when it was finished because the music would turn on five minutes before the jets came on at the end. I said..."Wait so the music cuts off?" He said most people like to hear themselves breath and stuff. lol...seriously. So I made him tell me exactly how long the music would be on. I told him an hour is a long time and I wanted some music. He said 10 minutes in the beginning and then it will turn off and turn on for the last 5 minutes. Whatever. I figured maybe I do want to just hear myself breathing and I don't know it. I've never done this before. So I shower, get in the tank and instantly realize I want the earplugs because I didn't like the water being in my ears. However, I really wanted to hear the music so I waited....and waited...and I kept pressing the button that he told me to press that lets him know I'm in the pod so that he can start the music. I pressed that thing at least 8 times over the next two minutes and I could even hear the buzzer ringing at the front desk. No music. Minutes go by. This is awkward. Had my time even started? Was he not at the front desk? I certainly wasn't going to go to the door naked and call him over to complain about the music not playing. Shouldn't he have figured something was wrong from me ringing the buzzer so many times? Needless to say...it was hard to relax at this point. I did put in the earplugs after giving up on my 10 minutes of tribal music and forced myself to relax physically but I just kept thinking about my experience up to this point and how annoyed I was. I took out my earplugs a little over half way through and just started rolling around and playing in the water. I was already 100% sure that the music wouldn't turn like he said it would in the last 5 minutes so I wanted to be alert and ready for the jets to turn on so they don't scare me to death. I was right about the music....but the jets did still scare me. Everything is very loud inside the pod. I just wanted to leave at that point. I showered fast, threw on my clothes and did not dry my hair. He was at the desk on my way out so I told him "You never turned the music on" and he said "What the music never turned on?! You didn't get the full experience". I told him he should have the pod checked out to make sure the music works next time for other clients because it was super awkward waiting with my earplugs for it to turn on. He said he felt bad. Honestly I couldn't tell if he was being a jerk or if he really felt bad. I mean...we tested to music at the beginning so why would it have not worked? Anyways, overall I'm being generous with the two stars. Most of the experience was awkward and stressful so the teeny bit of physical relaxation in the pod did nothing. I do not plan on going back and I will not recommend it to anyone. I'd like to see the owner start responding to the negative reviews and train their staff. read more
