I found Ryan after several years of dealing with inflammation and bursitis in my shoulders, as well as arthritis in my lower cervical spine. I scheduled a massage with CBD oil. It was the best massage I've ever experienced. Ryan attended to the knots in my muscles, and also did some much needed energy work as well. My body feels newly centered and balanced in a way I haven't experienced in years. I didn't realize how much tension I'd been storing in my body. My shoulder joints are loosened and expansive, and my posture has improved. Since my massage, I've been walking through my day with an enormous smile on my face. I'm not truly sure how to describe the amazing work Ryan does. I've had two sessions with Ryan in the last few months. I work full time and train as a bodybuilder so my body is always in extreme stress both mentally and physically, with lots of aches and tightness. He becomes so in tune with your body and he spends his time where your body expresses need. This isn't a "cookie cutter" massage and the Reiki experience adds to the overall therapeutic feeling; leaving you calm, rejuvenated and with clarity. I was an aching, knotted up mess before a massage with Maya. 3 months post knee replacement I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to lie prone. I had pain in the IT band area and something weird was going on with one shoulder. After 90 minutes in Maya's warm, gentle yet firm hands I was 100 % better. She was caring, attentive and skilled. She is a gentle, kind soul who wants to make you feel better. I was able to lie prone without a problem. I will be back! I can't recommend Awaken and Maya highly enough. I have been getting massages done for years, Ryan is by far the best massage therapist I have ever had. Each massage is designed for what my body needs that day. He always listens to what I need and ask for each time. His reiki massages have healed me and given me true relaxation not only during the massage but in every day life as well. I love how he uses different techniques and modalities for what your body needs that day. He was able to release my lower back muscle spasm in one visit where medication and stretching had not helped for over a week. Ryan is amazing and talented. I have been to several chiropractors and physical therapist over the last year in search for relief from sciatic pain related to lower back issues/muscle spasms. I booked a massage with Kai after seeing that he specializes in massages for people with sciatic pain. I had immediate relief for the first time in weeks! He worked through each muscle that was tight and broke the spasms/tension that they were holding. I can walk without pain, go up stairs, and turn (all things I have struggled with). My husband and I went to awaken for our anniversary weekend and we did not regret the decision one bit! We came in for the "A little bit of us time" package which came with aromatherapy scents, hot tea, a dry and sugar scrub, aromatherapy shower, and an hour massage with the option of hot towels, hot stones, and cupping. Mackenzie does wonders! I've seen her three times now and each time has been fabulous. She finds my trouble areas in minutes and incorporates many techniques (stretching, cupping, deep tissue) to treat those spots. She always has great recommendations after the massage as well for things I can do on my own. She's definitely the best massage therapist I've been to in Richmond. Awaken's space in Humble Haven is great. The yoga studio is very chill and the massage room is hidden away in a cozy space in the basement. I had the best experience at Awaken! First of all, the location is great and the place is lovely. Jessica was my therapist and I had the most amazing treatment! I had 90 minutes of massage and Reiki. Jessica is a lovely person and is highly skilled. She used essential oils which I loved and warm oils which felt nourishing to my skin. She also helped with some hip pain I was having. The space is nice and clean and I was able to park easily close by. I was greeted and offered water. At my appointment yesterday, my lower back was so tight that I had begun to walk with a stoop.
