One of the worst possible Visionworks store possible. Third class customer service. I made an appointment at a convenient time for my schedule and they cancelled it because the doctor was sick and requested a reschedule. I understood their situation and accepted the new time and date. Did they understand mine when the time came...? NO, read further... I was late at the appointment due to unexpected traffic, rains and reached there running... waited at the reception for 3 more minutes when they noticed me. They told me they do not take 10 minutes after the original time which I get but I was waiting at the reception for 3 extra minutes. Who is responsible for that?? They asked me to reschedule at a different date after I told them I drove from far. That is the pathetic "I don't care attitude" that these people have. They acted like they were swamped when the fact is that they were swatting flies when I arrived. There was NO one waiting after me for any appointments. These people are lazy and incompetent, so are the prices of the glasses and contacts they sell. For them "customer does not come first". They are inconsiderate. If you have any doubt about this review, filter the reviews with the lowest rating and you will get what I am talking about. Their attitude is as though only customer needs them, NOT true, they need a customer too, needless to say there are better options available out there with good customer service. Please take another look at other options for your eye care I made an eye appointment for my wife who is undergoing cancer treatments down the road at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. Visionworks called the day of the appointment to cancel due to the doctor calling in sick. I understand people getting sick. I told the woman on the phone of my wife's tricky scheduling issues and that I had arranged with Lahey so she could make the first appointment time. I made another appointment and when we showed up 12 minutes late, the doctor who cancelled on us earlier, refused to see my wife even after being advised of her situation. Normally I would completely understand someone being late and the doctor wanting to remain on schedule, but if the doctor was on schedule, were they planning on twiddling their thumbs until the next appointment? If they were running late then we would have been waiting anyway. Canceling on us previously and then not extending a molecule of understanding or compassion was heartless. read more

She had an immediate excitement helping me find frames that worked for me, worked to get me the best deals she could, navigated any annoying systems and computer issues with ease and humor, and even provided some super helpful lens care information! I would avoid this store unless you like long waits. They are always understaffed. My eye exam with the doctor was great. Everything in the store is pretty bad. I even had an appointment, waited 20min and then it was at least another 30min because someone went home. Why wouldn't they call me and move the appointment? I had called the Saugus store and learned that the contacts I had ordered had been discontinued. I later received a call from the Burlington store, the store I was unhappy with, and spoke to Patrick who went above and beyond to try to help me. The Dr is awesome, the team outside however are too chatty which ruins the time for the rest of us in here ready to go home. I over heard her discussing her shots, personal and family matters. Meanwhile im sitting and waiting to be acknowledged. After she was done talking she was putting away the glasses that were left around. Sure ill wait for you to finish puttinv away all the glasses in the store before you help me because they are going to walk away if you dont. Ay vai, the dynamic is weird here. Awe man I gave it 5 mins she sat down to help me I had a question which she cut me off in the middle of and didnt let me ask then started projecting her voice at me when i told stop yelling at me she said im yelling at her. ordered contacts two weeks ago from the Burlington Visionworks. Today I called spoke with Ashara to find the status. She said my order was "in process" which told me nothing. I asked her to contact the manufacturer as I need my contact and she wouldn't. I asked for the manufacturers name And will have to call myself. She couldn't provide me with a phone number so I'll have to find that myself. I asked to speak to a manager but was told there was no manager on site. This is my second lousy with their customer service!!! And my last time dealing with Burlington Visionworks!! Soooo in an effort to find someone who could help me, I called Saugus Visionworks and spoke to a helpful woman named Torrey who informed me that the contacts I ordered have been discontinued and I now need an eye exam. I am flabbergasted that I wasn't told this two weeks ago when I placed an order and paid for contacts which month from now I could still be waiting on and might never know the order didn't transmit because the contacts were discontinued! I rue the day I let my husband talk me into coming here for my eye exams and getting my glasses and contacts here. They don't pick up the phone, so you have to come into the store week after week to see if the order has come in. The text notifications are sporadic and always messed up. Barely anyone knows how to use the computer other than Yvonne (who admittedly is both nice and competent). Louise will avoid anyone who might need to have her use the computer. I really think she's scared of it, which probably means it's pretty bad. If she can't find it in the back she will give up immediately and let Yvonne take care of it. As noted below, the dynamics of this office are weird. They claim they will text you when your purchased goods come in, yet they held on to a pair of my glasses for 2 years. Recently I made the huge mistake of ordering my contacts from them. A month ago I was told it would take a maximum of 2 weeks. Now I haunt the store week after week like that bathroom ghost from Harry Potter always being told "a few more days." Today I heard them give some other soul the same bullshit story and it was all I could do to stop myself from going over and telling him to save himself from the endless loop I am now going through. Today I am going to call my credit card company and reverse the charges. Beware! BUYER BEWARE: I say "Buyer" rather than "Patient" because the doctors are generally fine (an observation as a "patient"), but it's the sales staff that's difficult (an observation as a "customer"). It's important to remember that this is a business, and a business' motivation is profit. The description below is a compilation of multiple visits to Visionworks since I have been going to this location for years with my children. Every single time they try to upsell me on our eye care needs. They start off by putting together an eyeglass package with maximum upgrades, and then I have to negotiate down. I say that we don't need x,y,z, and they say "But it's ONLY $X more." My insurance comes with a 1 year warranty on breakage, they try to sell me coverage for that same thing I get for free. I'm told to upgrade my vision insurance next time to maximize benefits, get blue light filters added to lenses, get the extra this or that. What really bothers me is that every year when I state that I want the standard protective anti-scratch coating, they say it's terrible and I should upgrade to the most expensive kind for better protection. Why is Visionworks offering something terrible as part of their standard and warning customers not to get it? Is their standard truly substandard, or is this just a line to upsell? Either way, this is not how to run a business/healthcare organization. It's like a doctor offering a vaccine version that kind of works, but if I pay a little more, I'll receive a vaccine that will provide fuller immunity. I said that I've been coming here for years, so if I know what to expect, why continue? I've been putting on my negotiation hat every time, so in the end, after about a half hour, I eventually get what I originally intended to purchase. I also have my teen beside me, so it's a valuable lesson and demonstration to think critically about purchases and understand the (competing) motivation of the business and the consumer. Recently I discovered another place that is also conveniently located and much less aggressive and profit-motivated. I actually used them this year to purchase my contacts lenses using my vision insurance benefits - they were $100 less than what Visionworks was offering. $100 less. It was Costco and I got the same exact product. I hope Visionworks reads this and understands that a patient/customer wants to get their vision care needs taken care of without getting taken advantage of, and to tone down their aggressive (and dishonest - trying to sell me something extra that's already included with my vision insurance benefits) sales practices. Another issue that I have is that we the customers cannot leave until we're "checked out." The front desk receptionist cannot complete the checkout process even with a $0 balance (i.e., if we decide to get contacts or glasses elsewhere). Rather, it has to be the sales staff. We're told to wait over at a table, and then we're at the mercy of the understaffed office (at least on Saturdays that's how it appears to be). All the sale staff are with other customers, and we need to wait sometimes 15+ minutes. The constant texting and email reminders gets us into the door to ensure we make our appointment, but once they have us, they're not as respectful of our time. Perhaps at one time Visionworks was more patient-centered, but now it seems much more business-oriented. This is why next year I will consider whether we come here at all. read more

I won't be returning to the Burlington, Mass. Visionworks where I bought my current glasses several years ago, or any Visionworks, even though my glasses need adjustment and I need a new pair. On March 12, 2022, I went there to get them adjusted. When I walked in, a woman standing at the front counter immediately pointed to a box of masks and bluntly said to put on a mask. I didn't expect this and was puzzled, looked at the box, picked one up. She said "This is a medical facility.". I was about to put it on, and said "A medical facility?". The woman said "Yes. If that's a problem you can go somewhere else." I said that I was surprised by that, and said "I don't like your attitude." so that the other two customers could hear it. I said "I need my glasses repaired." She pointed to another table at the back, and said to have a seat and that someone would help me. A couple of minutes later Louise Shaw came out, washed her hands, and proceeded to change the nose pads (I said the old ones were OK, but she kindly insisted), and fixed a bent nose piece. She was exceptionally nice, helpful, friendly, and intent on getting the nose pieces and ear pieces adjusted well. Despite my pleasant experience with Louise, what I mostly recall is the rude woman at the front desk, so I'll go to one of the hundreds of their competitors. got contacts from here (first time getting contacts) and the doctor, who seemed to have very little patience or care for her job, did an eye exam, then told me my test trial pair would arrive in two weeks. it took a month to arrive. After putting them in they were unbearably blurry. I tell this to the doctor but she didn't seem to care at all. She sends me home and tells me to come back in a week. Over the week i still could barley see anything from the contacts. When i went back to her she said it was because of my high astigmatism. she said that everyone sees better in glasses than they do through contacts. But she redid the exam anyways and told me the next trial pair would arrive in two weeks. Two weeks later i call the store to see if they arrived, they told me they would take another month to arrive. A few weeks later i get my contacts and test them out. Once again it's blurry. The doctor seemed confused. but long story short she told me there's nothing more she can do for me. If i had known there would be a chance I wouldn't be able to see "due to my high astigmatism" i wouldn't have wasted my money and time. read more

Mary Lou went above and beyond to get me the best use of my insurance. She was very thorough and double checked everything to make sure this was a seamless process. My appointment was wrapped up with great conversation and feeling satisfied with my contact order knowing I had the best use of my insurance and paying less than I have ever paid for them in my 8 years of using contacts. I feel like in previous years I wasn't aware of the best way to utilize my insurance. With Mary Lou I can trust that I am taken care of and she explained the process every step of the way so I could understand it myself! NO RETURN HERE ANYMORE!!! DONE Burlinton, MA 4/21/2023 I went to Visionworks for my eye exam. After the eye exam, Visionworks employee (It was an senior lady, she keeps talk and talk while processing your service and payment), said I will have to pick "Eye Glasses" OR "Contact Lenses" otherwise she can not process my service. So, I told Visionworks (Burlington Branch, MA) employee, I had used my eligibility for the year and I have eye glasses already and I do not think I am eligible for eye glasses or contact lenses for the same year. I also had my insurance coverage list with me at the time of service. So, this Visionworks employee took my insurance card and check in the system and said you are eligible, now you can have contact lense. I was shocked and surprised when Yvonne LeTourneau's (manager) employee said this to me. How am I eligible????? I have already used it for the year. So Yvonne's employee did not let me go just with eye exam. She pushed me and said you are eligible just pay $25 dollars for the contact lenses. So, I agreed, as she checked in the system and said I am eligible. Now, After 6 months later Visionworks sent me a big bill to pay for that contact lenses. When I saw the bill, I knew that Yvonne's employees mistake. I went to the store and spoke to the manager Yvonne LeTourneau and she clearly understood her employee's mistake. Yvonne said she will talk to NVC department and see if she can fix her mistake. after speaking she can not fix anything "you will have to take care visionworks mistake". I called my insurance many times, trying to fix visionworks mistake. Finally, my insurance company find out, it is Yvonne's employees mistake and they put "inaccurate authorization code" in the system and processed the service for contact lenses. The manager "Yvonne LeTourneau" not willing to reverse the payment and clear the bill. NVC departmetn said Yvonne has to reverse the payment in the store and then only NVC department can clear the bill they sent. Yvonne the great manager of the store not willing to fix her and her employees mistake. she wants customer to pay the bill and take care visionworks mistake. Do you people think that going forward "Yvonne LeTourneau" will be having a great life and a great mental health. The manager can not fix her work mistakes and she is a licensed manager. Well, "what goes around comes back to us". So, I'm definitely sure, Yvonne LeTourneau going to end up paying a higher bill some where else down the road in her life. I was really hoping after all of the reviews posted about this place that I would be able to write a nice review, however, that is not the case. Simply put, I ordered glasses a week and a half ago, and when I called today to check on the status was told I would have to wait another week for them. Apparently, they came incorrect, where inspected and reordered, though I was never notified. I understand that there are certain things out on one's control, however, communication is not one of those things. It is a simple act of customer service that goes above and beyond any material or monetary discount, you can offer a customer. If you can not deliver on time, then you should let people know and give them the option of how to proceed. Going there to get my money back and go somewhere else to get glasses. I came in 8 minutes late for my appointment and even called to tell them ahead of time. I was told it was okay, but the two receptionist in the front were rude and told me they wouldn't take me. If you have such a strict policy with being a few minutes late with your appointments then it should be clearly stated in the appointment reminders that are being sent. I had awful experience too- first off- the 2 for 99$ (progressives) THE WORST selection of women's glasses - both with larger male optician and older saleswoman- apologies- i hate describing people by appearance but I don't know their names-I can't remember her name, but she's been there for years I think. They are shady with explaining prices and options. the woman was lazy- she acted like she was being bothered because people wanted more details around deals- it was busy for them- and I was there for an hour- I wasn't the only one unhappy in there. They did everything in their power to make sure I was taken care of, including being nice and joking with me! They double triple checked to see if my insurance would cover this visit, which I knew it probably wouldn't this time around, but I appreciate that digging they did for me! But this is the most important part: on Monday 11/22/21 approx 6:22pm an older couple comes in the store. I am in the middle of my transaction. One of the employees tells this couple that to keep in mind that they close in a little over a half hour. Her tone was friendly. This man immediately got flustered and said he'll just take his business elsewhere. The employee was trying to save the situation, her tone was still nice and even apologetic, but this man continued to talk loudly over her, speaking of reporting and how some other business can have his money... I stood up and sternly told this man that she was simply informing him and it wasn't rude. this is when the woman with him started talking at me so I just told them both BYE repeatedly until they left the store. Those two were the assholes, not the employee of the vision works in this location. If someone told me that they close at a certain time.. the English language tells me I am allowed to be here but I need to keep in mind i can't really take my time. So instead of looking at every single pair of glasses and maybe some sunglasses, I'll only look at the square ones and not the circle ones, that's what I have for time. Or maybe I look at everything that night, go home to think about it, and come back another time to seal the deal. If that employee informed me of the closing hours I would not be offended like this couple was. I think they had a bad day and some of it leaked out into the store. Horrible place. I went to the Burlington store yesterday for new frames. I walked in to be greeted by a rude salesperson. I had a prescription and just wanted to look at frames. She proceeded to tell me I needed an appointment just to look at frames. I understand with covid they were just taking precautions. So I asked her if I could make an appointment with her while I was there, and she told without even looking in my direction, to go online and do it. This is a horrible way to treat people who are trying to give you what little business is out there. Terrible opticians . They don't want to answer any of your questions. They are not willing to give clear answers when it comes to choose your lenses.They don't tell you that there is an option to choose between standard or premium whatever. They just make you to buy most expensive ones that insurance don't cover. When i asked to see sample lenses, the woman says there not any. Why can't they show you each different option so you see and try in person , compare them and then choose one ? For example, for anti-glare coating, the optician said premium one is easier to clean. How do i know it's actually easier to clean and 'better'? I think it's just so shady. They cannot even breakdown prices for you. It's just sum of couple hundred dollars that they charge you. Awful experience. My initial call for an appointment was answered by a very friendly and nice woman. I was asked about my insurance policy (Davis vision). I was told that I would only get a discount but if I had AAA I would receive a bigger discount and I should bring my card. Ok... Didn't make sense but I needed glasses. My appointment was with an extremely rude physician. He did not introduce himself. He did not make eye contact. I was hurried and spoken to with a tone of frustration. All of this I could roll my eyes and ignore knowing that not everyone has a great day.... What really made me angry was when his cell phone rang and HE ANSWERED AND TALKED ON HIS CELL PHONE DURING MY EXAM!!!!!! Also... When I said I couldn't read the letters on the wall because the glass in the scope was fogging his response was "it's because you are breathing". As a nurse, I find it essential to breath. I was rudely brought out after my exam. There was no "thank you for coming in, it was nice to meet you... " he said "come with me." He handed my folder to the front staff and walked away. My glasses were chosen and come to find out.. I DO Have insurance to cover eye exams send glasses. My initial info was wrong. Today, I picked up my glasses. The wrong prescription was in the frame. It was written in hast by my eye doctor. So... After putting them on at home I had to turn around and return them. The reason I give one star? The staff today was kind and helpful. It is very unfortunate that this is my local Visionworks. I had called ahead and asked for an a simple service: to measure my eyes. The person who answered the phone was pleasant and said that measuring my PD (Pupil Distance) would be no problem. Once I got to the store, I was greeted by two ladies with a welcoming and enthusiastic smile. When I told them what I had only needed the two ladies grumbled, became silent, and gave me a sideways glance. Between the two ladies, I felt the the humbleness being retracted. I explained to one of the ladies that having visited another Visionworks, the doctor did not fill my prescription completely. She said, "your PD is only measured when you purchase something." As, I understand this tactic would only bring you back to a store, however I feel that it is my right to know my own prescription, and should not be prevented from knowing more about my eyes' health. She quickly measured my eye's distance by just standing there while warning me that the glasses that I ordered online cannot be fixed here. She did not offer to have me sit and measure with stability and accuracy. She told me what it was, she looked down at a pen, looked back at me, and then walked away. I kindly asked, if that was all. She looked at me me and shrugged. I thanked her and continued with my day. Thank you, Visionworks of Burlington, for your cold and sterile personalities. AWFUL -- just awful. I bought frame and lenses (close to $400). After a few months the metal plating on the ear piece blistered and began peeling off. After a few more months, the skin touching the blistered portion of the frame became inflamed requiring medical treatment. MD advised that the metal used in the frame (made in China) was causing contact dermatitis. I visited the store and asked what warranty assistance was available. They rudely replied 'none' as if I was asking for some outrageous service. The staff was rude and disorganized. Later, I called the frame manufacturer and described the problem. They took my address and sent a replacement pair of frames. I got them a couple days later....put the lenses in myself. No problems since. I will not continue any future business with these losers. In my opinion, this place is very unorganized. Actually had a representative (eye dr) hung up on me. Finally with VSP on the other line we got an order together for my daughter (this should not be so hard). VSP noticed that they were trying to sell us something for eye protection that was already included. Rep did not say anything except ok. WVery disappointed. By the way, in my opinion again, they are not careful with cleaning glasses in these days of covid. When we asked on the first appointment if they clean glasses, they assured us ALL glasses tried on are cleaned. However, we saw people trying on glasses and putting them back. We finally got an order together and were to go in a pay. I called today, spoke with a different doc. He said come in and drop off check as we wanted to pay by check. I used a different vision works a few years ago as it took my insurance and decided to go again this time. I went to the Burlington store for an appointment as I needed an eye exam and that was the only place with an appointment at the time I wanted. I got the eye exam, purchased contacts and a new pair of glasses. Two weeks come by and I pick them up, lovely. I go home and next day try them on, everything is fairly clear but the edges are very blurry and disorienting, which is weird since my prescription didn't change. I give it time to adjust and return to have them fitted. More time goes on and I literally can't wear the glasses for more than twenty minutes without getting a headache and feeling nauseous. I bring them back and ask for them to check the prescription, apparently they were much much stronger then what I had ordered, they had a tint I didn't ask for and where the wrong frames (though looked very lose to the ones I had chosen). Basically I was given the entirely wrong pair of glasses. I gave them two stars because they did refund me, but it is pretty concerning that this happened. read more

I'm not even a client here actually, I'm a driver for UPS and I go here practically everyday for pickups and deliveries. One day recently My glasses broke and I kinda needed them to drive safely. I just had gotten them fixed at my regular eye doctors but the repair only lasted about 2 days of use. I wish I could give -5stars . Took them half an hour to find me in their system, that is after they made me wait for 45 minutes to acknowledge me. Then the optometrist was rude and in a hurry. That woman is either overworked or just don't care about patients. Then I had to leave as I run out of time. Came back another day to find out that they never saved my info so they made me wait for another 30 minutes to find my info again. And then to top it all. When I was finally getting my glasses the guy stops and serves somebody else. On my time. Just because the other person needed something quick. Forget about minus 5. .
