I had an appointment back in May, just a regular eye exam with a contact lense fitting. This was my first time using this company, and most definitely my last! I went to my scheduled appointment, the doctor was running late, and then she asked me to come back for my dilation. I returned the following week. Fast forward to this September, I received a bill in the mail for the additional appointment for my dilation. I paid my copayment back in May at the time of my appointment, but they were trying to charge me again, even though it was the doctor's issue with having me to reschedule my second appointment. I called today, stating I am not happy about this, finally they agreed to drop the additional fee but they asked me not to book further appointments with them. NO PROBLEM, I WAS NOT PLANNING ON IT!! So because of my review here, they won't see me, I can't imagine any kind of professional, refusing to see a patient with eye problems, because of a review they didn't like. So I get an email saying it's time for my appointment, I reply YES, and I never hear from this office again. I wonder if I can complain to an agency that over see eye doctor. The office mistyped my phone number so called the wrong number to confirm. I had to call them the day of the appointment to make sure it was still happening. . At that time (too late to reschedule) I was told that they don't take my insurance though I had been told they did when I made the appointment. I showed up on time, filled out my paperwork and 30 minutes after my appointment time still hadn't been seen. When I asked how much longer I was told they had worked in an emergency and would be another 15-20 minutes. The exam was only scheduled for 20 minutes so that means they were running 2 or 3 patients behind. I was taken back 45 minutes after my appointment time to have preliminary work done. Then it was still another 15 minutes before the doctor came in. Everyone was very nice but that doesn't compensate for the hour of time I waited. I had to leave before the appointment was completed so I could be on time for my own patients that afternoon. They can do better. read more

The reviews here must be old or inaccurate. Nothing but pleasant experience from start to finish. Dr. Tolchin is very thorough and takes the time to explain everything during the appointment. They have a huge selection of glasses, and very helpful (and patient) employees to help you choose and explain your insurance benefits. Where do I begin? I went to this office shortly before I was about to move out of the area. I loved Dr. Tolchin. Super friendly and took the time to explain everything she was doing. She suggested switching to different contacts, which I did. Then I met with a man (name?) who was also really nice to discuss frames. I left with an appt for two weeks later for a checkup. The next day I was wearing my new contacts, driving around for work and I couldn't see ANYTHING. As in large green exit signs on the highway - I couldn't read the words. I called into the office saying I thought something was off and the receptionist said the Dr. said I probably just needed to adjust to the fact that there was more air getting into my eyes than with the older contacts. I tried switching the contacts into the opposite eye in case they labeled them for the wrong eyes. I tried turning them inside out incase I was crazy (I've been wearing contacts for about 15 years). Nothing worked so I had to revert back to my old contacts until my appt. When my appt came, the Dr. first said things were fine when I left the office the first time -as if I lied about being able to see, but then said she may have given me the wrong thing after she double checked what my prescription should be. It seemed that the contacts were fine for up close but for anything farther away, they were horrible - so I didn't notice when testing them out up close that they were off. I got new contacts and left. Two weeks later, my new glasses and new contact order were in. I go in, try on the glasses (up close in a mirror), and go to check out. The receptionist (not the same nice brunette I had before, but a different blonde lady) tells me a total for contacts. I tell her I don't think my insurance is applied (I have a % off of my contacts). She says it is. I say I'm pretty sure it's not because the normal price of the contacts was quoted to me on the phone and it was what she was telling me - before the insurance. After a few more minutes of insisting, she goes back and checks with the guy who calculates the numbers and finds that, no the insurance WASN'T applied and I owed less. No problem, I pay and leave. Shortly after, my boyfriend had his appt that he had made after I referred him after my initial appt when I saw how nice everyone was. He went to pay when his contacts came in and found that his contacts were also too much (the same as my original price before they realized my insurance wasn't applied). He explained what I went through and that he didn't think his insurance was applied. This time, they kept arguing with him and never double checked. He had MORE insurance coverage than me, but ended up paying MORE for contacts because the receptionist refused to double check the amount. So I move and...what do you know, I put on my glasses (which I barely EVER wear except when my eyes are bothering me) and find they are NOT the right prescription. They have the same effect that my eyes had when I got the initial contacts that were wrong. So the office finds that they gave me the wrong prescription, knows it was wrong and gives me a new one, but doesn't tell the glasses guy to adjust and they order me the wrong prescription. I have really bad eyes, so to get the lenses cut down for smaller, modern frames, they were like $300. And now I can only see to read up close with them. It's unfortunate that all of this happened because the employees in the office are all REALLY nice people. But both my bf AND I both separately had experiences which led to us paying more than we needed to....mine being about $300 more than I needed to considering I can't wear the glasses and see anything but a book right in front of my face. So now in order to wear my glasses constantly to prepare for eye surgery, I will have to pay AGAIN to get new lenses. If the office is willing to fix their mistake I would be grateful, but if they insist on not even applying insurance for contact prices, I am doubtful I'll get help for my more expensive lenses. read more

I came to Clear View Eye Associates after my company changed our vision coverage, and my regular optometrist was no longer in the network, and.... I could not have been more pleased with the decision! I was initially a little set aback when I walked in the door, the office has somewhat of an old-school doctors office feel. My appointment started just about on time, I usually give doctors a 10-15 minute leeway anyway, but they were very prompt. The receptionist was very nice I had already printed the medical history form off the internet and provided my insurance information so I think that saved some time. Dr. Tolchin was awesome, she took the time to go over everything she was checking and answer any questions that I had. The exam was very thorough, and Dr. Tolchin was very patient while I did the whole #1....#2 thing do determine my prescription. They also offer the ability to take some images of the back of your eyes, its a $25 charge, but it allows them to establish a baseline for any changes in the future. Dr. Tolchin also took the time to go over the pictures with me and show me the optic nerve and the macula, and talk to me about the blood vessels and some of the different diseases of the eye that can be seen in the picture. All in all I would say very worth $25. My prescription had changed so when it came time to choose new glasses Mark was there to go over the costs and the different options available. Again, Mark took a lot of time and care in ensuring that I got the glasses that I liked, and with all of the coating that I had previously. Again, and awesome experience. So all and all an awesome experience, I am very very glad that I chose Clear View Eye Associates and Dr. Tolchin as my new optometrist. So if you are looking for a new eye doctor and in the Woburn area, Clear View Eye Associates is diffidently where you want to go. read more

Have been a pt of Dr. Tolchin's for years now. She is very good and attentive to her patients. I have had to bring my toddler to my appointments with me and she is more than welcoming to my daughter (which isn't always the case with a doctor). Receptionist forgot to tell me to bring in my glasses (even though my appt was to renew a contacts Rx) so I paid for a contacts and eyeglass exam but only got contacts checked.... Dr. Tolchin kept insisting the contacts I've been wearing for the last 15 years were no longer being made and suggested a new brand at twice the price.... I was left feeling rather insecure in her knowledge when she told me "I've never even heard of the contacts you are wearing...they've been phased out so long ago" She also told me I was wearing them too long between changing pairs even though these contacts have been renewed as a Rx by two different optometrists in the past - the last being three years prior to my visit with Dr. Tolchin (I accidentally ordered a three year supply instead of one...). Both optometrists before had recommended the same amount of time between changing pairs...and both are indeed 20 years senior to Dr. Tolchin. Ok, so I go home and check 1800contacts and they indeed continue to carry my old brand... So I ended up paying twice the price for contacts that tire my eyes way more, make my eyes rather goopy and tend to get stuck under my eyelid....a complaint I saw many experienced with this brand... read more

Went for annual eye exam and had them update my old frames. Picked them up a couple weeks later and wasn't able to see out of the new prescription. I thought maybe my eyes needed to adjust so I tried them out for a little while and kept getting migraines so I called to let them know I was having trouble seeing out of them. I arrived to my next appointment and while I was waiting in the lobby I heard the doctor say, "What does she want me to do?" Couldn't have felt more uncomfortable. So then I went into the exam room and explained the situation to her and she stated that she would change the prescription, that maybe it was too strong. They called me back after a few weeks and my husband picked them up because I was working and they were going to be closing for vacation. I tried them on and still couldn't see. Nothing was clear. I called again to explain and I went back again. I explained to her that everything was blurry, especially the left eye. She told me that she used my "old prescription" and I asked her what prescription, she told me she used one from 2016. I explained to her that I've had an eye exam since then, which makes sense why I can't see. She told me I never told her I had another eye exam. She also didn't ask, she just assumed. She only adjusted the left eye since it's what I mentioned to be extremely blurry. I brought my current prescription and the one she gave me to compare and show her what I was currently seeing out of and confirmed before they took my glasses and she told me " we are going with this one" meaning the new one that she decided, not my current prescription. Very upsetting since I'm the one that has to suffer by not being able to see. Fast forward another 3 weeks, they finally call that they are ready. I go pick them up and she offers to have me try them on and I decline because I know I won't be able to see. She scoffed at me, and at this point I really didn't have words because this whole experience has been a nightmare that didn't need to happen. So after all that I still can't see clearly out of my glasses and now I'm going to have to pay out of pocket for another eye exam somewhere so I can see on a regular basis. Location is easy to find and street parking was available (non-metered). The office atmosphere is a bit lacking but Dr. Tolchin is very good. I got lots of help picking out the perfect frames. My glasses were ready quickly and I'm very happy with them. read more

I am very disappointed in this optical practice. They wouldn't help me obtain medically necessary contact lenses for my visually impaired child even though they are in network and accept our insurance. I called Clear View and was told to fax the prescription, which I did. Then was told that my daughter would need an exam but my vision insurance would not cover the cost of an exam, which made no sense. When I said I would follow up with the insurance to verify, I was told by Clear View that they have not done this before, and I explained that I would get details. I contacted my insurance who stated that my daughter was covered for the exam and the contacts. I was put on hold while the insurance representative called Clear View directly. The insurance representative told me that Clear View didn't know the procedure to follow, so the insurance had a billing specialist call Clear View back with instructions on how to bill for the contact lenses. After all this, I am finally told by my insurance that Clear View does not want to get involved and provide the service. Now I am back to square one. read more

My experience with Clear View Eye Associate wasn't good and a lot of times it caused frustration. The reason is not Dr. Tolchin but her office service. They basically never picked telephone and called back for your voice mails. After several unattended phone calls and voice mails, I had to show up in person for my different requests. In addition, they lack of track on things too. They told us my daughter's glasses is ready to pick up. Even though I knew they never answer phone calls, but before we made the trip I still tried to call them, and of course no one answered, so I had to bring two kids to their office. It was not very surprised, what it was ready is just frame not the lenses. That means we have to make another trip to the office when the lenses are here. I don't think they value their customers' time. read more

Horrible customer service. Went in to inquire about repairing my daughters glasses which were punched there June 2014- scratched lenses. The front desk girl walked over to a woman sitting behind a computer and then came back and said basically they couldn't help me. The two then asked question from across the room. I asked if I could just purchase another pair and the woman behind the computer said the script for the lenses was expired. Well, it wasn't expired. I checked with our actual eye doctor at North Suburban Eye in Wakefirld. So iI left and went to a real doctors office and took my money and business elsewhere. Also, they might want to consider having their front desk people dress more appropriately for a business environment. Pink hair and flip flops make me think I'm at the beach - not a supposed medical office. read more

Dr. Tolchin is very nice and soft spoken. During my eye exam I felt very comfortable. I was very well informed step by step what the process was and how I was doing. Fred is awesome he takes care of everything you need and is very helpful when purchasing your glasses and makes sure they fits perfect. Any questions you have he is always able to answer them. I went for my annual eye exam at Clear View yesterday for the first time. I just moved to Woburn and I was looking for a new optometrist closer to home. I saw Dr. Zoey Tolchin and she was wonderful. Her exam was very thorough and informative. As she went through the different parts of the exam she explained everything and I was very appreciative of that. She genuinely seems to care about her patients and her enthusiasm about her profession is definitely reflected in her work. The gentleman who fitted me for my glasses was patient, helpful and informative. The office manager Kathy was very professional and organized. I had an overall great experience there and was impressed by their team. Even though the practice is in a small building, it is big with customer service and thoughtfulness. I will be going back there every year for my eye exam and will always highly recommend their services. read more

We relocated to Ma. from Fla. My 12 year old was having problems with her eyes. I choose Dr.Tolchin because she was covered under my insurance and was close. I'm a registered nurse and have worked with eye Dr.'s I thought my daughter was in good hands. Until I met Dr.Tolchin. My daughter has been in glasses for six years and contacts for two, she has never had an examination as detailed as Dr. Tolchins. We were told for the first time my daughter has stigmatisms in both eyes and a freckle in one eye. Her contacts were not appropriate for her eyes, so her cornea was irritated severely and needed meds to heal. I'm thankful for the time she spent explaining as well as allowing me to look at the cornea in the scope to show me the irritated cornea. She was able to take a picture of the freckle, so it can be monitored. I was also able to see this. You don't find Doctors like this. She took her time made me feel important. She is excellent by trade and a kind, lovely lady. I have never taken the time to write a review on a Dr., but I feel like she is special and needs to be recognized for that. My daughter loved her and felt very comfortable. I highly recommend this Doctor. The office staff was also friendly and professional. CP read more
