When my long-time optometrist retired, I was worried about finding someone new. After asking around, I settled on The Optical House. Besides all the recommendations I'd gotten, it was also walking distance from my house. I could not be happier. Dr. Peter Violette is personable, funny, and did an excellent job on my exam. His son, Nicholas, was incredibly helpful with picking out frames. I got regular progressives with transition lenses and a pair of cool Ray Ban sunglasses. I was very pleased, and the price was entirely reasonable! But it doesn't stop there. Two weeks ago, while out of town, I took a nasty fall. I was relatively unharmed, but my new glasses were totaled. As soon as I got off the plane in Boston, I called The Optical House and told them the story. Nicholas called me back before we were even home from the airport. He confirmed he could get the same exact frames, with new lenses. I just picked them up. He even gave me a discount on the frames. I arrived here on a random weekend night on the hunt for some really high end sunglasses. I was sick of purchasing $10 pairs from convenience stores while out driving, only to have them last less than three months and I'd be back at the same spot picking up yet another pair. Those days are hopefully, finally behind me as I received amazing service from Ken here who helped me find the perfect pair for my face and lifestyle. I went with polarized Costa del Mar's, a company I had never heard of but instantly fell in love with the moment they rested on my bridge. I had tried on almost 25 pair before finally settling on these. Again, Ken gave me spectacular service as he walked me through the pros and cons of each pair I had set aside that were in the "maybe" pile. I probably spent an hour here deciding since the price tag was so steep. The coolest part was a special, polarized parrot I could look at. When I wasn't wearing the polarized lenses, I couldn't see the little guy. I put on the "better" pair of glasses and bam! There he was. I was mystified and then likely sold on getting the higher end glasses. I met the Optometrists here and they all seemed like a really great group of guys, asking me if I needed any help while other employees were busy assisting different customers. Dr. Violette has an ease and expertise that make the perfect combination for a doctor. Not satisfied with anything less than perfection, he took time to figure out the exact right fit for me. I have been one of Dr. Violette's patients since 2003, and The Optical House is superb. He is such a nice guy, and the rest of the office staff is so kind as well. The wait time here is never long; if you made an appointment, you won't be waiting around forever to meet with someone. Unless there is something wrong with your eyes, the appointment is very quick, but you won't feel rushed or unattended. I had my first eye appointment today with Dr. Violette, and it was phenomenal!. He took me on time during the late morning, did a thorough investigation of my eyes using up to date equipment, and was personable yet very detailed. He listened to the problems I was having with my eyes, gave his recommendations, and didn't try to "sell" me on any type of contact lens. He also gave me the opportunity to try many different lenses to see how they fit my eyes. My next appointment is in a week for a follow up. That's never happened with any other eye doctors!! Dr Violette, Pat the optician and the rest of the staff have many years of experience and are very competent. My annual eye exam this week resulted in Dr Violette discovering an eye disease in both my eyes. He immediately called an ophthalmologist close by who saw me the same day. Dr violet is a fine competent doctor however Pat Langone does not listen to patients problems with their glasses he has evidently never heard the term the customer is always right.After one year of complaining that I was having problems seeing clearly with my new lenses and being told there was nothing wrong but my handling of the glasses.I finally got in to see Dr Violet (because Pat insisted my eyes had changed) it was discovered the lenses were warped causing blurred vision. The lenses were changed and after a week I was having problems and thought that they needed an adjustment and lo and behold I was told by Pat in a very rude manner that it was my fault by abusing the glasses.This time I insisted that he double check and he again discovered a lens problem never once did he apologize to me. The glasses have finally been fixed . I have spoken to another patient whom overheard Pat berating an elderly gentleman about his complaints about his glasses and when she spoke to Pat about it he said "he complains all the time and he was sick and tired of his complaining" Both she and I will never use The Optical House again. read more
