She took the time to answer all my questions about the manicure I wanted (gel x). As it was my first time. She was very thorough and meticulous. After relocating from Arlington to Herndon I was on the hunt for a nail salon that was closer to my current residence. I've been going to the same nail salon in Arlington for over a decade (NAils For You - Falls Church is top-notch) and this was a hard decision so, let's say I was going through withdrawals. After thorough research, I decided to give VIP nails a try. I am very particular when it comes to my nails and was a little uneasy about trying a new salon. Based on reviews I made an appointment with Twee, unfortunately, she was not available to do both services so another tech did my pedicure. After my first visit - I decided Twee would be my go-to nail Tech, loved manicure from Twee not a fan of my pedicure from another Tech. Let me point out that this 5 star is base solely on Twee's service and not a reflection of the other nail techs. If I can be honest I've had a pedicure from a couple of nail techs and left very dissatisfied. I've had a nail tech (Mary) cut my toenails so low I didn't wear sandals for two weeks because my toes looked ugly. I can wholeheartedly say Twee is the only Tech I allow to do my manicure. Twee is a talented technician and has a great personality match. She's been doing my mani & some Pedi since April and I've never been disappointed. 10/10 for sure! Booking was easy online then I called to confirm if staff was vaccinated and the manager checked with the staff working that day, called me back and confirmed that they are all are. I am a HCW and this in my book is You wait outside for your turn, then they check your temperature as you come in and ask you to wash your hands. All the staff and majority of the clients were masked. There is a plexiglass divider in between clients/ staff as well. The staff were all extremely nice and very professional. I just recently went on Thursday, February 20. Got a pedicure and manicure was chared $60.00. Today is Monday February 24th and my manicure looks horrible the polish all chipped off. This is not the first time. I went in to tell the owner and he said it was due to the chemicals I was using? I washed my hands with soap and water. My manicure should never look like this. The person did not care. Do not go they are using cheap products and ripping their customers off. I have had many manicures and my polish has never chipped like this. This is crazy. Just because I did not get their recommended Gel? They do not treat their customers like VIPS. read more

While the nail tech that did my manicure was lovely, the manicure itself was subpar. The nail shape is inconsistent, they did not have the color or a color similar to what I was hoping for (baby blue), and the gel was sloppily applied, going off my nail line and on to my skin. read more

This is hands down the best manicure and set of nails I've ever had done! Firstly, the procedures set up for COVID are amazing. This is probably the safest I have felt in any establishment since the start of the pandemic. They take temperatures at the door, ask about any potential COVID exposure, have you immediately wash your hands, sterilize your devices for you, and have so many plastic partitions put up for safety. Wanted to get an ombré powder dip today and showed them one of their own pictures. But somehow they were all a bit confused about it. I rarely get my nails done anymore because manicures are generally expensive, so I wanted to make sure I got something nice. None of the nail technicians seemed to know how to do an ombré powder dip. What I ended up getting was a solid colored dip powder manicure, which was fine, but I was disappointed that I couldn't get what I actually wanted...and what was shown on their own yelp page. The price ended up being $60 + tip. The other thing I didn't appreciate was that when I paid, they stand right next to the credit card machine. I asked if I can input the tip by myself, but they just kind of ignored me? I never like it when people stand by you when you tip, as if they want to make sure you tip enough....which then makes me want to not tip at all! read more

Unfortunately I have to downgrade VIP from 5 to 4 stars after a handful of back to back experiences. My friends and I went prior to my wedding in June, and two of them left with severely cut cuticles. I chalked this up to a one time thing, but it happened again a few weeks later. A few weeks later, I went in for a gel polish change and the job was very poorly done in comparison to last experiences, as the polish started to come up within a week of happening. Then I went back two weeks later for a gel polish change again, and I was left with craters and fibers in my nails. I called to inform them that I wasn't happy with the job and that I've been coming to VIP for nearly 15 years, and was told they'd call me back - they never did. All that to say, skip for gel polish, but still the best pedicures around town. read more
