I was pleasantly surprised by VIP Nails - since their prices are lower than much of the local competition I was not expecting much. 1. They had tons of shellac colors to choose from. It looked like there were quite a few nail polish colors as well, but I only looked at the shellac choices. 2. I was greeted immediately and was offered a drink & snack (Sprite, Coca-Cola or water and chocolate). All of the ladies working were extremely nice & always checked in to see if I needed anything. This included others besides the one working on my nails. 3. My nails looked like perfection. I am OCD about my nails and usually end up doing them myself because of how nit-picky I can be. But my nail manicurist at VIP went over my nails multiple times, making sure every aspect was perfect and even. 4. On my way to checkout, I was given a FREE gift (choice of Bath and Body Works soap or body wash). All of this was included for a $30 shellac manicure. By far THE best pedicure/gel mani I've ever had. Tammy is so lovely, super sweet, and pays attention to detail, which I love. As other reviewers have said, the beverages/snacks/complimentary bath & body gifts are awesome. The prices were reasonable ($55), and the leg and hand massages could've put me right to sleep - they were so relaxing! I made an appointment the day before and waited about 20 minutes past the appointment time once I got there, but it gave me time to pick a color - no big deal. This is my go to nail place for getting pedicures and manicures during lunch at work. It is clean, the chairs are nice and new and the people are nice. I have had many different people who work there do my nails and have never had a complaint. I got a shellac manicure once and wow it was really impressive. The woman who did it was very detailed in her work and it looked perfect for at least a month. I heard their shellac manicures are priced very competitively (from a friend who has had them done at many other places in the area). I use to come to this nail salon all of the time but since I moved I haven't been able to do so. However, I happened to be in the area yesterday and decided to pay a visit. The lady who usually does my nails was out of my town but Tammy did an amazing job! The customer service is always pleasant and welcoming. They offer refreshments, snacks and other goodies. They also pay attention to your nails and have good sanitation policies. This has been by far my favorite nail salon in the DMV! I don't mind driving out to this place every now and then. read more

Loc was my Tech, he seemed unattentive and didn't listen. Waaaayyy too much rough callous (rough skin) left on my feet. Mani was jus ok. I heard about VIP nails through my boss, she recommended it so I went to try it out. I called around 1:00 pm and asked how much it was for a gel fill and a regular pedicure, I was told $25 each. I also made an appointment for 3 people at 6:00 p.m. I arrived exactly at 6, the place was FULL. They had 20 or more nail technicians working so I barely waited but kept getting asked "are you ready yet??" while choosing my color, sorry your selection sucks. So I get my girl, she is pretty rude compared to what other reviews said about how everyone was so nice mine was not. Don't get me wrong though, I did hear some technicians who was super nice chatting it up with their customers. I asked for a powder gel fill and for her to do the "coffin shaped" nails. I even showed a picture. She shaped them horrible, they're more of an oval shape. The entire manicure process felt very rushed. Now we get to the pedicure. I chose a regular color for this. While in the chair she handed me a brochure of options they had. She automatically asked me if I wanted #2(they have about 5 or 6 different options which pretty much are worded with things a pedicure is SUPPOSED to include and they try to make it sound all fancy). Any who, #2 was just that however it included an orange scrub that peels off dead skin. I thought for $5 extra sure why not. The pedicure was good and that's about all that was good. When we finish she hands me a little paper with the amount $75 written on it. I was a bit confused but at the time didn't question it. Now that I am home I started to think more about it. I called to ask prices once more and again was told "$25/$25". I explained my situation to the lady and she proceeds to tell me that a powder gel fill with REGULAR color is $25. If you want gel color instead they add $20. Please tell me why the hell the amounts are different?? The fact that I was charged $45 for a gel fill was ridiculous. Other places I have gone charge $35 for brand new Acrylics with gel color LOL. All in all, I feel like I was SCAMMED big time. For what they offer, this is crazy. They act as if they're luxury by going around asking you if you would like a small size generic water bottle or soda can. Steer FAR from this place. There is another place by Alabama Dr in Herndon called Nails VI I believe. The location is not great and the shop isn't too impressive but the staff is wonderful and everyone is great, esp Nancy. read more

The prices are reasonable, it's clean, and everyone is friendly. Now with additional guidelines due to COVID I have to say, they are on top of things! Check-ins and temperature checks outside before entering, strict sanitation procedures, and plexiglass glass to separate seats. They can count on my business for as long as I'm in the area. I must say I was rather impressed with their service. This was my first time visiting this nail salon and glad I found it on Yelp. Once again my fellow yelper didn't not disappoint! I went on a week day last week after work. Although location says "Herndon" it's really Chantilly. It's at the boarder line of Herndon/chantilly close to metro tech drive and Lexus & Acura dealerships on route 50. This place is going through the renovation currently so a lot of boxes outside and all the way back of the store. However they made sure the main area is clean and safe which was nice. I had a mani and pedi, their massage chair was rather awesome. She also served a free soda/water and candy to have while sitting down. Lady who helped me was quiet yet super nice. She took her time to polish and triple coated everything without asking!! I had a couple of nail design photos (Christmas/holiday theme) and asked her what is possible.... She wasn't able to do much of the things I wanted but did make it clear what was doable or not which I liked. I had added 4 diamonds on both hands and this place didn't charge as much as other places I have visited in the past. I think the price for both mani and pedi was reasonable too. Wouldn't recommend this place. I usually go somewhere else but wanted to give it a shot. Made an appointment for press on at 4pm today. Showed up on time just to be told something was going on and that I wouldn't be able to get my nails done for another 1.5 hours or not until Monday with the tech I had booked with. My first two experiences were great, a bit on the pricey side but the services were good. My most recent visit, not so much. This was my second time going to Twee because all the reviews said she's great, so I thought why not give her a try. Boy was I wrong!! I booked spa pedicure and a gel acrylic refill. My manicure was good, the only thing off putting was I when I went to pull my hand away from Twee to put it under the light, her hand brushed mine messing up the polish and she growled at me because it got messed up. Now the worst part of my service, my pedicure. I booked the spa pedicure and received the regular one. Twee didn't ask if I wanted a spa pedicure just rushed through my pedicure and it was probably the worst pedicure I have ever had. She dug at my big toes to the point where I thought I was going to pass out from the pain. She said it was because I messed up the nail on one toe so that's why she needed to dig at it so hard. She rushed through it which made it way more painful than it should have been. Since Thursday, I have had the worst pain in my toes to where I can barely move them and they have been bleeding. Twee continued to rush through my service and told me to sit until my toes are dry. After about 10 minutes, I started to get up and noticed there was a bunch of nail polish all over my feet. Twee doesn't even acknowledge me when I get up to give me the yellow slip I needed to check out. When I get to the register, the woman who I assumed is one of the owners asked where my yellow slip was. I told her I never received one and she goes well you need one who did you see? Twee verbally confirmed the price with her, the entire service was $77!! Their website said it should have been $67 but my assumption was their website was never updated, not that big of a deal. So I told the woman at the register I was supposed to get the spa pedicure but got the regular so why is the price so high. She didn't apologize for me not receiving the service that I had booked. She got defensive and was like Twee just verbally confirmed it you really need the yellow slip to check out because it has what your services and the price. I repeated that I booked the spa pedicure and got the regular one, I just want to make sure I wasn't charged for what I didn't receive. She told me my refill was $45 (most I think I've ever paid for a refill FYI) and my pedicure was $32. Visibly annoyed at this point I just said okay and handed over my card. She then asked how my service was, I just looked at her wondering if she really just asked me that. Again no apology what so ever for such a terrible service. Needless to say, I will be finding another salon in the area who cares about their clients and I will NOT be back here. read more

I was on a time crunch and had to find something near by, saw good reviews so thought to give it a try. Walked in and the place seemed decent, clean and friendly. I get my mani pedi pretty regularly, at least once every 3-4 weeks, and thought this may be my backup place to the one I usually go to because my regular salon is a bit far from me. I know that all nail salon technicians talk to each other in their language, but this was a little too much. They barely spoke to me and I also noticed that the technician for the lady next to me had her earphone on and was talking on the phone!!! Wow, how RUDE!! I got acrylic full set and a pedicure done, and my daughters got mani and pedi. My pedicure took about 20 minutes with no effort of scrapping or filing, and toe separators weren't even used... My nails.... my base is streaky, and the clear top coat is very dull. I was so aggravated leaving the salon, but couldn't do much because they were closing. What a waste of my money and time! I went back this week and got Shellac (the OPI version, not CND Shellac), in the color Pewter. I personally don't mind because I think it is part of their culture on how they verbally talk. One thing I am very impressed is Twee! Ask for Twee when you come. Be aware - she is popular. I've been coming here for 3 years twice a month, but last Sunday was the last time... Came in for a scheduled appointment only to find out that they thought I called in and cancelled, so the technician I requested was busy... How does that happen, I'm not sure. I had to go with whoever was available, she did a terrible job (uneven edge, didn't cut ANY cuticle, the polish chipped off in 3 (!!!) days), so I refused the pedicure, which I really needed.
