Here's my story about the victory diner next to main place mall. COCKROACH IN MY FOOD Me and my girlfriend had just left Disneyland and was on the way home. Wanting to go to a diner to sit before going back to the house after a Disney. Found Victory Diner and went ahead and made our way there. The inside seating was closed so we went ahead and went though the drive through window. We ordered 1. Wet burrito 2.grilled cheese 2. Blt 4. Fries Got home to eat and everything was fine, until I was 3 minutes into eating the food and a little baby cockroach comes out of literally nowhere. He had rojo burrito sauce on him!! a Baby cockroach means this little guy just hatched and there is BABY EGGS THAT ARE SOMEWHERE ELSE IN THIS BAG. Immediately called the restaurant and they were not picking up the phone. Now it's 10:30 am and I was speaking with the manager Mr. Martinez to not just try to get my good paid money back for the food but to see what he thinks about the situation. He went on to tell me his restaurant is 100% clean and that my apartment could've had the bug in the first place. I'm sorry sir but i don't have random bugs that crawl on my countertop after just have setting food down on the counter. Came for the late night eats. Drive thru is open 24hrs which is great. Home of the buy one get one free burgers. Food is always hot and fresh, made to order and the portions are really big. The burgers hit the spot and 2 for 1 even better, the fries were crispy and seasoned good, the onion rings OMG so much! They were so crispy and breaded perfectly, not mushy at all, it came in a cardboard box that filled the whole thing up, there's no way we finished everything. Used to come here all the time and ordered the same thing every time. As the food came it was all wrong and they tried to charge us double to correct their error saying they don't accommodate they way we ordered anymore. This place is just okay, in my opinion. I think I had high expectations because they have good reviews and the pictures were convincing. With that said, the double cheeseburger I ordered tasted fine. The patty's are quite thick and not dry. The chili cheese fries were probably the best part of my meal. They are generous with the cheese and the seasoning they add on the fries make them so much better. My boyfriend liked the carne asada wet burrito, but it was nothing all that different or better than other restaurants. My mom didn't like her fish sandwich, as she said the fish patty was too hard. The portions are good though, as they give you quite a lot so it's worth your money. The parking lot is rather big because it is located inside a shopping center near a pizza place and an urgent care facility. There is plenty of parking, even during peak hours. The drive thru line can take a while, just a heads up. They don't have pre-made food to bag like they do in fast food establishments, so be mindful of that. The customer service is good. Don't give your money to this diner filled with gossiping bad energy ugly people. I stopped in to have breakfast with my hunny. And decided to use the facilities while I was there. While standing in line to use it the 5 woman hired to be servers were standing around making rude unpleasant comments about me. When I remarked to my hunny about it a young one decided to try and get bold hiding behind the soda machine making comments. They all spoke in Spanish as if I did not understand them and when I finally got to use the facility and came out was told by my hunny that they were making derogatory comments about me because I needed to use the facility. Needless to say we refused to give our money to this place and upon walking out the young girl that was hiding decided to come out and make faces at me. I need to do more visits to this excellent diner. The positives outweigh the negatives, so let's start with the negatives first. The double cheeseburger was a little soggy for my taste, and didn't have much of taste other than the burger patties. The burger definitely needs some work. Other than that, my wife highly recommends the patty melt. The patty was seasoned well, the gooey cheese was a delight, the onions were present but not overpowering, and the bread was just the right amount of crispy and beautifully browned. The D.U.I chilli cheese fries was the best part of the meal. They go half and half, beautifully separating one side with carne asada and the other side with pastrami; under that is just the right amount of melted cheese, chili, and fries. You can taste every ingredient in one bite of the D.U.I chilli cheese fries. The fries were still crispy even if they were covered with the chili. I cannot wait to dine-in, once this pandemic is over, as it's very cozy inside. Thankfully we can still enjoy their food with take-out or drive-thru. I will be back! read more
