La Tóxica burger with a side of tots.
    Aaron O.

I've had El Brewjo burgers at various pop-ups and breweries around the OC and it's yet to disappoint. I usually get La Hot Mess since I like a burger with kick. I was skeptical about how thin the patties were at first but then realized their the perfect smash when doubled up, nice and crispy on the edges but still juicy af. So if you like a smash style burger these are on point.

Super good burger! Nice & simple yet full of flavor. One of the best smash burgers out there. Tots also are fire. It's a little on the pricier side ($20 for burger & tots) but I'd say it's worth it. The fact that it's a pop-up makes it feel elusive & hard to track down, but when you're able to have it, it's super good. Wonder if a permanent location is ever in the cards for these burgers bc I feel like I would go more often.

I really wanted to like this place since I've seen alot of hype behind it but my burger experience here was not the best. The good: Very crispy burger patties which gave good texture. The bad: The burger buns were cold and dry. Not sure if this is the style/choice but putting the buns on the grill to heat up just a little with some butter would've helped alot. From pictures on other yelp posts, it looks like the buns were grilled; maybe they forgot to throw the buns on the grill? Who knows.. The burger patties were very, very salty to the point where I could still taste salt on my tongue 30 minutes after eating it (whoever was cooking tonight must've had a heavy hand with the seasoning). Parking here is pretty hard to find since its connected to Green Cheek Brewery and other surrounding businesses (had to circle around several times). Not sure if this was just an off time or experience but I was fairly disappointed for my first time unfortunately.

Wow... is this what a "smash burger" is supposed to taste like? I'm a fan! I've only had "smash burger" one other time and wasn't a fan. I didn't get the hype because it tasted so average and it made me want a regular burger more. El Brewjo came highly recommended by a friend and I was going to pass on them because of my prior experience with smash burger, but I'm glad I didn't. I'm not sure what a smash burger is really supposed to be, but the ones from El Brewjo is so darn good! The meat patty is what makes a smash burger a smash burger. They are thin and juicy with crispy edges. I think what really took it over the top is the type of meat blend they use - it tastes like I'm eating a steak! I honestly don't think you can go wrong with any of their smash burgers. There is only three to choose from on their menu and they occasionally have specials. Their burgers range from $14-$16. It's a simple menu, but that's all you need. Cesar is the owner and he was nice and cool. I really like that they keep it in the family (the cook, the prep, the cashier). This is a pop-up place that goes to different beer establishments so you have to find their schedule on Instagram to see where they're at. Also, it seems like they are only open Fridays-Sundays. They also offer their services for private events.

You're not gonna want to miss out on El Brewjo's delicious burgers. Dropped by a brewery post work just for two basic bitches and tater thots. Seriously though, our intention at the brewery was solely for El Brewjo. The basic bitch is not too greasy and it tastes so yummy! Always eager to catch El Brewjo when they're around the area.

I finally tried El Brewjo's award-winning burger pop-up and it did not disappoint. I ordered the Hot Mess smash burger and loaded tots. Both were served hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The burger had a great balance of savory, spicy, and crispy, while the tots were perfectly seasoned and generously loaded. You can tell the team puts real care into every order. I'll definitely be coming back to try more of their signature burger--la basic b.

Loved having El Brewjo pop up for our baby shower! Organized, on time, friendly service, and excellent burgers and tots!

I've had El Brewjo twice and I have to admit this is by far the best smash burgers I've had in Orange County! So flavorful! Great mix of ingredients! Patties are crispy! Tots aren't plain, they are actually seasoned! A must addition to your burger. Although La Hot Mess is spicy, I love it! It's like an addictive spicy kick to it lol By the way, you can ask for grilled onions, I did. And I can't end this review without mentioning how sweet the staff is even in the kaos of how busy they get. Great, great burgers and staff! *so much flavor and crisp in every bite!

El Biter + bacon, La Hot Mess, tater tots.

Experienced the pop-up venue while at Green Cheek Brewery this past weekend. Husband and I ordered El Biter, La Hot Mess, along with an obligatory side of 'tots. Everything tasted fresh and stupendous, from the crunchy edges of the smashburger to the super soft, yet durable buns. Not as messy as I anticipated, but I also didn't attempt a gooey egg either. I preferred La Hot Mess, it was a nice kick in the mouth, but nothing a crisp brew couldn't soothe. The tater tots were so perfectly crisp and fluffy inside, we could have eaten our weight in those. The accompanying sauce was like a loose thousand island/in n out spread sub chili powder for the relish. I was a fan.

Two words.... AMAZING BURGERS! I was hooked after my first time trying El Brewjo. I constantly crave these burgers, so I try to go to their pop-ups whenever I can. I hired them for our neighborhood block party last year, and they were a hit! I even saw El Brewjo mentioned on KTLA morning news the other day. The smashed beef patties are flavorful, the Brewjo sauce is delicious, and the buns are a perfect compliment. I just tried the loaded tots this week... YUM! Portions are plentiful and the quality is great. You gotta try El Brewjo!!!

We had them cater for our son's one year birthday and it was a hit! Literally everyone couldn't stop talking about how amazing the burgers were. Also, the set up was very nice. The guys were respectful of our beautiful backyard and overall just the best experience. For sure we will be using them again for future parties!

Literally the best friggin smash burger you'll ever have! From the buns, to the meant, the perfectly spiced sauce, to the fresh toppings El Brewjo will have you coming back again and again and again! And if the food wasn't perfect enough the El Brewjo Team are outstanding and so friendly and welcoming. If you haven't tried these guys before on the look out at the next pop up, you won't regret it!

    El Party Melt

Incredible smash burger pop-up in the Orange area. I recommend the El Party Melt and a side of tots.

Initially, I walked…read moreinto the establishment thinking it was going to be another "fast food burger joint" but walked out craving another burger. The ambiance is minimalistic with a few tables along the wall and a long window table for solo eaters. However, the owner/cook are super friendly and accommodating. I ordered the signature and the double burger meal (w/ loaded fries). First off, the loaded fries is one of the best. It doesn't aesthetically look "all that," but it just HITS. The jalapeños and grilled onions balance out the cheese and bacon. As for the signature burger, the crispy cheese was a great complement to the perfectly seasoned patties. The texture of the cheese was just right: a nice balance of almost crispy but also gooey with a small cheese pull. Perfection. I haven't had a good smash burger in OC for a while, so this was a pleasant surprise. The establishment is located within a plaza, so parking can get a bit difficult when busy, but I came in on a Sunday afternoon and there were plenty of spaces available. I will definitely be back. A++!

I ordered their Signature Smash Burger meal, hoping it would showcase what the restaurant is known for. However, the burger did not resemble the menu photos. As shown in the attached pictures, the patties were very thin, overcooked, burnt, and dry. The burger lacked flavor and was far from the satisfying burger Smashburger advertises. The bun was also noticeably crushed and flattened, giving a careless presentation. While appearance isn't everything, it didn't help when the taste was equally disappointing. The overall dining experience was not much better. Only two of us dined in, with no other customers inside. Although several to-go orders were being prepared, our food still took longer than expected. The atmosphere was less enjoyable than I had hoped. Staff members were quite loud in the kitchen, and an employee sat next to our table, speaking loudly on a phone call for an extended period, making it hard to enjoy the meal. I'm sharing this feedback hoping management will address these issues. The meal did not reflect the quality I expect from a restaurant that prides itself on its food. For the price, customers deserve food and service that match the advertised quality.

I ordered their Topa Topa Burger, Okonami fries and a Dr Pepper to drink. We sat outside on the patio since it was a nice evening at the time. Mine came with sliced avocado (pretty much half of an avocado) which was ripe, smooth and creamy. It also came with crunchy onion strings and their special Topa Topa sauce and of course some kewpie mayo and shredded cabbage. The cabbage was super crunchy and fresh. The buns were super soft and toasted perfectly. The fries were alright. The Okonamiyaki style was unique and the toppings were tasty. My Dr Pepper was a little too sweet, maybe it was more syrup than carbonated water. Overall the burgers here were great! I also got an order for my boyfriend later that night. Ordering to go was super easy. My boyfriend devoured his Spicy Miso burger. Service here was great as well. Would come back for the burgers!

I wanted to share some comprehensive feedback regarding a recent experience, aiming to highlight both your successes and areas where further refinement could elevate the customer journey even further. First and foremost, I must commend your team for their exceptional warmth and hospitality. From my initial phone call to the moment I picked up my order, I felt genuinely welcomed and valued. This level of customer service, which often feels lacking in many establishments today, truly sets American Grub apart. It creates a welcoming atmosphere that significantly enhances the overall experience, and I sincerely hope this commitment to friendliness remains a cornerstone of your operation. However, I encountered a couple of points that, in my personal opinion, warrant consideration for improvement. Regarding the payment process, I felt a degree of apprehension about providing my credit card details over the phone. While I understand the operational need to secure orders and prevent potential losses, particularly for larger transactions, for a single item like my bacon cheeseburger, priced at $17.24 including tax, this practice felt somewhat disproportionate. I also noted the 99-cent fee for online payments, which, while minor, might deter some customers who are seeking convenience without additional charges. Perhaps exploring alternative secure payment links for phone orders or adjusting the fee structure for smaller transactions could enhance customer comfort and streamline the process. My primary concern, however, arose upon returning home. Despite ordering a bacon cheeseburger, I discovered the burger completely lacked bacon, as well as any form of sauce or mayonnaise. This oversight had a significant impact on the meal; the absence of these core components rendered the burger quite bland and far from the experience I had anticipated. When ordering a single item, the expectation for meticulous attention to detail is particularly high, as there are fewer variables. Consequently, the overall value of the meal, given the missing ingredients, was not quite met on this occasion. I did reach out to the owner privately via email to discuss these points, and I appreciate their responsiveness and transparency in addressing my feedback, particularly concerning the rationale behind the phone payment policy. It is reassuring to know that your business is open to customer input. My hope is that these observations can serve as constructive input, allowing American Grub to continue refining its excellent service and product quality. I remain a supporter of your local endeavor and look forward to seeing these aspects addressed. Thank you for reaching out. To clarify, all my reviews and communications are crafted solely from my personal experiences and genuine perspectives, not AI. Every word and insight you read is authentically mine, driven by my commitment to provide honest feedback. The restaurant was dark and stylish, and I immediately liked the vibe. Even though it was crowded for a Thursday night, we were seated within 15 minutes. We each picked a shareable dish to split. Predictably, my daughter chose the mac and cheese. I rolled my eyes -- it's so her -- but it turned out to be the best of the four. Maybe it was the velvety cheese sauce or the golden cracker crust that made it so irresistible, but that mac and cheese was, as she'd say, absolutely bussin'. The next standout was the maple-buttered Brussels sprouts, my man's pick. If all vegetables tasted this good, I'd eat them every day. Candied pecans, maple butter, blue cheese -- how could that not be amazing? Was it healthy? Sus, but definitely worth it. I picked the pig candy for the group, which was outrageously sweet and candy-like. Clearly, this wasn't healthy -- bacon, sugar, and rye whiskey caramel make a trifecta of indulgence. But it was so delicious, I couldn't complain. The sliders were the last shareable we tried. They were fine but didn't stand out -- the meat was a bit dry. I also ordered a cocktail (something pretty and fruity, though I can't remember the name). The bartender nailed it, delivering a delicious drink. My man enjoyed his Negroni. The service was great, and I loved the grassy area with fire pits for hanging out. Excellent place for our first night out in Irvine!
