We had a birthday celebration this afternoon for my mother, aunt and 3 of us sisters. It was fantastic- the food was great as well as the delicious gelato. Our server, Kenzie, was really awesome. Ugh. High expectations, low delivery. Bar is cool. Bartenders are pretty good. So I got a warm Caesar w anchovies. Due to the romaine famine of '18 I was directed to choose the kale. Not warm. And kale. I coulda felt w the kale but the not warm? Funny how the gov't can ban killer lettuce in 48 hrs but can't figure out immigration in 48 years. Anyway I digress. I get the braciole. I shoulda not. The ziti was kinda all sauced up in a very avg at best marinara dressed up w frozen peas. Yummy! The braciole was just beat. Too much cheese. No prosciutto. Lacking in pine nuts. And the beef was just tough. Like it hadn't been simmering For more than a hot second. Just not good guys. Sorry. Stay for the bar. Don't eat the food. read more

Came here on Saturday evening with a party of 20 for my wife's birthday and had an amazing experience. Start with the booking: All I wanted was a regular ol' dinner reservation for a large party, no strings attached. I had contacted a few other places in the area before Via for a reservation but they all had constraints - could only do buffet-style or a very limited menu, had to meet a minimum food and beverage amount, couldn't split checks, had to be out at a certain time. Finally I tried Via and they were more than accommodating. They did say they don't normally do such a large party reservation on a Saturday night, but the reservation was for 5p which was so early it was agreeable. But otherwise, full menu, able to split checks. The gentleman taking the reservation on the phone went so far as to say "of course we will do whatever you want!" surprised that other places would be so limiting. Arrival: Table was ready when we got there exactly at 5p, with water glasses already filled. Service: We had 2 waitresses and they were exceptional. Friendly, took all requests in stride, even anticipated our needs - at one point the waitress on my side of the table came by with a cocktail for me and said "I figured you wanted another, if you don't I can take it back." Miss, you read my mind. Drinks: The specialty cocktails were SO good. I had Il Gentiluomo and my wife the Velvet Stinger and both were amazing. Food: Outstanding. Everything. Apps- house-made ricotta (SO MUCH CHEESE), pork belly, super crispy calamari. Salads- grilled caesar, burrata caprese, spinach and goat cheese. Entrees- confit duck, pork shank, salmon, even a "simple" dish like the italian meat ragu had GIANT hunks of delectable meat. Heck, my daughter's shrimp scampi off the kids menu was amazing. Desserts: canolis, gelato, creme brulee. End: Splitting checks was so super easy. We lingered with drinks and dessert and chatter. Also a few friends showed up VERY late (like an hour and a half) due to some unforeseen circumstances, and they were STILL able to have a full 3 course meal and finish up right when we were ready to head out (i.e. basically had their entire meal in 30+ minutes). The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and it is always exciting place to eat. Last night, I ordered a ceasar salad with salmon. To my surprise, it came with a head of romaine lettuce a few coutons, some cheese thrown on top and dressing on top. I couldn't believe that I actually had to fix it all myself. I had to cut the lettuce and the salmon mix it all together. There was barely enough cheese and dressing so I had to ask for more. I didn't know I would have to actually make it myself. Not my idea of going out to dinner and you know the restaurant is pricey. Please change the way you serve this salad. read more

I've come here a couple times for lunch and my meals were always tasty, with friendly attentive waiters. I think I remember the bread on my sandwich being a bit tough once, but I think that's more of a personal preference thing. I love the gelato sampler they have, with 4 or 5 mini scoops on mini cones. In reading the menu, it gave me the impression that they were really looking to be creative, but many of a dishes' elements went "overboard". They were agreeable to make substitutions which helped me make the sides of my veal Marsala palatable . The Marsala had mushroom risotto-for me the mushrooms were covered, it's Marsala! So I substituted polenta, I was happy! Although the gravy was the set back! No Marsala flavor, thick and gummyy. Appetizer was new to the menu, bruschetta. It was edible due to the copious amounts of RAW garlic, and sweet balsamic vinegar. My recommendation is to use a garlic infused oil, salt the tomatoes that are not sweet! Fresh basil is key and the grilled bread was a nice touch. Actually the bread was not Italian at all. Maybe an attempt at a Tuscan bread, but do better! Or only serve your bread grilled! The manager agreed the tomato component was spicy, sweet, strong and was hard to recover from. The mixed salad that came with the entree was bland! Use a quick rule of thumb 1/4 vinegar, sal, t pepper herbs, 1/2 oil and either citrus or mustard. These are simple remedies! My boss had the rigatoni with "pulled" roar checked in a pesto cream sauce...very unattractive plate, pale green sauce, pulled shredded chicken mixed in, not placed on top of the mound of pasta. Ultimately we suffered stomach aches from the intensity of the appetizer. Waitress helpful and sweet! read more

Sunday brunch. Menu limited. First thing I noticed were dirty utensils, food spattered on booth wall and dust fronds coming off the post behind my husbands head. We drove 40 minutes so I'm still eating. I ordered Sicilian eggs with a side of sausage in Maple syrup. Hubby ordered spaghetti and meatballs. When his food arrived he asked for a piece of bread, cuz sauce right? He was told they don't serve bread at brunch!! He likened it to getting a brand new car with only 3 tires My Sicilian eggs were excellent. Loved them. Would have been perfect had my sausage come before I was almost finished and had to remind the server that I ordered them. Hubby had to wait 10 for coffee he ordered but said it was very good coffee An uneven visit all in all. Disappointing compared to previous visits. read more

Went here with a group of family members for a celebration. Via is considered one of the, if not the fanciest/priciest restaurant in Worcestor. They have valet parking (entrance of the restaurant is in the back). Waitress was really nice, and the wine menu is extensive. Overall, I wasn't really impressed by the menu since it seemed too standard for an upscale place (pasta, pizza). I got the chicken picatta entrée with the caprese salad. There was nothing wrong with entrée but also nothing too special, however I really liked the caprese salad (has mozzarella and tomatoes). read more

I was excited to try VIA for the first time. It has ambiance down pat. However, while the menu looks enticing, the food doesn't measure up to the ambiance at all. I ordered the grilled caesar salad which was the worst presentation of a caesar salad EVER. Seriously, how can you mess this one up? The whole section of romaine lettuce with core is slapped on a plate uncut. Oh, sure.. Let me do all the work cutting it up. Not happy. Grilled? Barely could tell. Not much dressing and where the heck is the cheese? I couldn't detect any. No croutons. So, for $8.00 I get a wedge of romaine on my plate..... really??? I ordered basil pesto pasta and it was ok. Nothing to write home about. My date ordered a pork medley over pasta. His pasta wasn't properly cooked so he sent it back for another. Come on! This isn't rocket science. You advertise as an itialian venue. They did comp us for the bad pasta with a free dessert. I have to admit the dessert of a brownie sundae was the best part of the meal and was very good. But overall? For a pricey meal (most entrees hovered at 20 or above), this wasn't even the quality of Olive Garden. I've never been disappointed in their pasta cooking for heaven's sake. read more

We joined you on NYE, but at 4pm. Totally appreciated that we could order from either menu. Harrison started us off with our drinks which were awesome. Then Samantha took over with the right amount of kind and friendly without being over the top. The service was impeccable! The food also amazing. Atmosphere- amazing. I don't like loud. Via is just OK. I came here with my fiancee after getting a gift card for Christmas. It has a nice atmosphere and friendly staff. We really had no major complaints, but nothing really stood out either. The drinks were fine, but came in beat up glasses old. The complimentary bread was good, but comes with plain olive oil, no seasoning or butter. The chicken parm and meatball dish we ordered had large portions and were definitely edible, but again for a place people seem to rave about (though not on Yelp) these dishes could be found else where for much cheaper and taste as good or better. We'll probably come again if we get another gift card, but if not Worcester has plenty of better options. read more

Service was unacceptable. Waitress was short with guest and rude. Made my guests and I feel like she was serving us because she had to, not because she wanted to. Walked off on a couple of occasions as people were about to place an order. Tried to respectfully inform her of her mannerism when she then stated, I'm not doing anything wrong! You can get someone else if you want! I opted to get someone else to serve us. I shared our experience with the manager and he apologize. In addition, the food was mediocre at best. I will NEVER return there nor recommend that anyone else goes. read more

Atmosphere and decor added to our enjoyment. Service terrific. Prices were great - thanks to Restaurant Week. I live an hour away and I would go back in a heartbeat. Wine was delicious and reasonably priced. Arancini app delicious. Pizzette tasty and filling. Brownie sunday dessert soooo good. Service really added to the experience. The parking we understand is not great. We went on a Thursday at lunch time and had no trouble finding a free spot. So impressed! read more

Have been here a few times and always a great place. The service and food are both outstanding. The server was helpful with wine selection and our meal choices. I had the eggplant parmigiana with polenta. It was so good and such a generous portion. There were many dessert choices. I shared a large piece of tiramisu with my friend. Wow. Such amazing reviews. Not my experience at all. Don't get me wrong: the service was top notch - very attentive without being intrusive. Ambiance not so great as were were seated in a booth on the far side of the bar which had more windows than walls, and it was drafty and cold. I had to keep my coat on throughout my meal. Food? Meh. Best Italian in the city? Not in my experience. We first ordered bruschetta, which consisted of two columns of soggy bread not toasted and not individually topped: the toppings, which were a variety of cherry/grape tomatoes ranging in color from red to rust and yellow, a few black olives and a VERY sparse amount of shaved cheese, was just ladled over the top of the bread piles, leaving us to try to get some of the toppings onto the bread slices in order to eat it. Very possibly the least appetizing bruschetta I've ever had. NOT a fan. The chicken parmesan, which we both ordered was okay. Not spectacular, not outstanding - just okay. We ordered a side of roasted brussels sprouts to share and they were too hard to eat - better brought home and microwaved for another meal. The crepe cake was tasty and very rich - a few bites sufficed. This is definitely a dessert best shared by two or three people. The price - with tip, @ $160., wasn't outrageous, but neither was it great for what we had. Not my favorite Italian restaurant by a long shot! read more

I was looking forward to my VIA visit because it came highly recommended, but I was not wowed in any way. The food was extremely subpar for their prices, but the service was decent. I ordered the Shrimpfest, which is a 3-course pick-and-choose-meal for $21.99, and got a jumbo shrimp cocktail (best part of the meal), green salad, and main course of Seafood Marinara. The pasta was way overcooked and the sauce had no flavor at all, total mush. The actual seafood was well prepared so I picked out all the pieces and left the pasta. The only way I can describe their food is that it tastes like something you'd serve in a nursing home: very bland and very mushy. read more

They were accommodating for my party as we arrived 15 minutes late due to congestion on Route 9. Seated promptly and promptly forgot about. After about ten minutes one of our servers brought water and drink orders and did not return until 10 minutes later. Happy with the heavy pour on the flights. For 15 dollars I drank the equivalent of $70 if paying by the glass. Fried calamari was delicious. ACaesar salad was hardly grilled, left a large portion wilted, I didn't complain as I was on my second glass of vino and everything was all good by then. Main course of the herb roasted pork chop was too heavy on the rose Mary and sage. Spinach had no seasoning and the squash was surprisingly "candied". Not even four glasses of wine could cure the main course. However my companion was content with their meal. Service did improve over the course of the meal. My experience here was great! Our special seating request was graciously and quickly accommodated, even though the restaurant was quite busy. This personalized attention in itself warrants a return visit, but the food was great too! This was a great dining experence, and my friends and I are sure to come back soon. We had a party of 10 for New Year's Eve 2018. We New it was a busy night, and we made reservations in November . We were taken about 15 mins after arriving, thought that was good. It was very loud, but where we sat was quieter and cozy. Most meals were great. Two people ordered braised ribs with gnocchi I tried it . So delightful. Two people ordered sea food pasta dish. It was good but every bite was getting hotter and hotter. Someone ordered risotto dish I think with lobster. Salads were so tasty. Grilled Caesar one was the best, followed by the beet salad. We didn't order desserts. I would highly recommend but would go on a night not so busy like New Year's Eve. Brando was our waiter and he was good but slow. But he was very handsome so he gets a pass. read more

All the makings of an exceptional restaurant - amazing wine list, excellent food, but... The fruit flies are disgusting and everywhere. Seriously, clean your f-ing restaurant or call Gordon Ramsey to put you on kitchen nightmares! Maybe he can teach you how to clean up? Or how about taking the menus at some point so there's room on the table for our food... or maybe bring a second glass of wine before the meal is over... Can we talk about the "cheese board" for a minute? 2 slices of prosciutto, 2 slices of salami, 1 slice of mortadella and 1 slice of capacolla with 2 blocks of cheese is not a charcuterie board. And why do you have honey on this board when you don't have anything else on the board that pairs with it? It's just a random assortment of things that could be on a charcuterie board, but they're all the wrong things! So... I'm writing this as the food comes... it's not getting better. Can we talk about the burrata now? Who is making this burrata? Joe shit the rag man? This is mozzarella from the olive bar at Hannafords. Now comes the bucatini bolognese... YES! Finally! This is the stuff. Perfectly al dente, and the gravy is right out of your Italian grandma's kitchen. Rich heavy cream, beautiful tomato sauce with the finest hint of shaved carrot for flavor. This is perfection in a bowl! I actually moved the review up to 3 stars because of this. However, the hangar steak is just weird. The sauce is gross and doesn't mix well with the bell pepper. Even my 2 yr old spit it out and wiped her mouth out with a napkin. And she eats anything! All and all, this sister restaurant does not have the polish and consistency you experience at the 111 chop house. As I finish this review, there are 3 fruit flies floating in my Brunello di Montalcino. WTF. Back to 2 stars. ... I thought the review was over, but I just had to mention another pet peeve. Why do you make me ask for an itemized copy of the receipt? Is this a global conspiracy by restaurants to get people to tip on tax? As I was waiting for my itemized receipt, I overheard a trio at the next table expressing their dissatisfaction with the long wait for coffee. Definitely seems disorganized. The only reason I would give this place 4-stars is because somehow my boyfriend paid $15 for a 2' Long loaf of bread... and I'm concerned it'll go bad before it's eaten. This place is so charming and well organized. The desserts are insanely delicious, and the gelato brought me right back to Italy. I would like to come back here for a real meal, as my party of 10 just came here for dessert (we all have kids, child-free nights out are few and far between). The staff here are also really nice, friendly and accommodating. The ladies bathroom is also very clean, well lit and the stalls are big enough that you don't have to worry about touching the toilet when you open the door! My 1st time going to this resturant. I often see this location from the freeway and often wanted to eat there. It always seems like a location that the "cool" people eat at. I ate there last week and it has an amazing upscale feel when you walk in the door. It has all the buzz and abaunce of a downtown Boston eatery. The food is amazing!! We went for lunch. I had Crispy Pork Meatballs w/ Sweet & Sour Glaze and the Grilled Salmon Salad. The lettuce on the salad is actually grilled!! Amazing!! The Meatballs were like none I had ever had before. After passing Via on Shrewsbury Street for the past several years, decided to give it a try for Mother's Day We can now say we've been there, it's ok, no rush to go back Reservation system and seating were great. Made an online reservation, and they request you remain in your car and call upon arrival. We waited 5 minutes while they readied the table, and were invited to come in. Tables are well spaced and the restaurant is definitely COViD compliant. Started off with a round of soft drinks and the fried calamari appetizer, which arrived hot and crispy and totally bland. Rings were over cooked while large tentacles were uniformly undercooked. I will say the marinara dipping sauce was among the best we've tasted. Portion size was by far the smallest of any local establishment. Waiter "bragged," about the complimentary salad, which featured a few drops of a nondescript house dressing. My dining companion and I both gave up after a few bites. My daughter had the caprese salad which was amazing. Entrees arrived in huge plates, with rather small servings. Definitely not a good value for the price My wife had the Osso Bucco which she said was delicious. Daughter and I had seafood plates, which were tasty, but again poor portion size Service was a big disappointment. I understand it was Mother's Day, but there was a marked difference in level of service between our table and one table over. Apparently their ordering several bottles of wine entitled them to a much more attentive level of service We waited over 10 minutes for soft drink refills, and the waiter arrived 10 minutes after our meals were served to offer grated cheese. So I say I dined at Via, but doubtful we'll be back Had a better meal and far better service at Mare E Monti A message to the serving staff, if you're going to base you level of service based on anticipated gratuity, you may find yourself greatly disappointed. read more

We don't normally head out for Italian for the simple fact that for what we enjoy, we put together a pretty good meal at home. So that's my metric for this review - scratch sauces, home made pasta and fresh bread...... Having said that, what we loved about Via is the decor and vibe. It's gorgeous inside and I love the open kitchen being visible from a lot of the seating. The staff is wonderful - from the valets to the hostesses and our serving team. But the food - wow....it's just a let down. Especially for the $s being charged. We had the Ragu, the Seafood Orechiette and the Herb-Encrusted Haddock. The Ragu was lukewarm, and the red sauce bland, and grainy. You'd swear all they did was cut tomato paste with some water - terrible. The pasta was under done and the meat dried out. For what they charge per plate, a total disappointment. The Orechiette was a bit better but the pasta was underdone and the sauce overpowered with lemon. The Haddock was probably the best, but again, you can do better for about a third of the price. The best part of the meal was the bruschetta - simply on point. The deserts were solid as well. But if you're looking to do Italian in Worcester, try Piccolo's down the street or Peppercorns over by Clark University. Much better food and more reasonable pricing. read more

We ordered curbside pick up over the phone the person who answered was very pleasant and told us we would get a confirmation and when our order was done they would text us and we would give them the number of our parking space can't get easier than that. I ordered the Salmon Livornese and my wife ordered the short ribs both came with salad and a house dressing. The short ribs were a bit dry but the salmon was perfect.All in all a nice experience. read more

Don't order a $12 drink because they put no alcohol in it. They measure the shots precisely and it is not worth the money. We ordered chocolate martinis and they were like chocolate milk. WOW after driving by this restaurant for 6 years I finally got to go there for my 71st birthday. I loved the ambience inside and outside. We ate inside around the corner from the kitchen. I was amazed that if you were to go around you could see the open kitchen. I even talked to two of the chefs about the New England Culinary school that my nephew graduated from. One of them also went there graduating in 2011. We were 5 adults and a 1 yr. old. The waitress Sarah was excellent!! She provided a booster seat for us and kept coming over to do refills etc. WE were a little disappointed with the truffle fries. Felt they should have been a thicker fry another place we had been to. The meals were a very good size and we all took home seconds. The salad that came with the meal needed a little more vinegar in the dressing. Everyone loved the bread with oil. And we loved our entrees and lilke I said we all took seconds home. Then we ordered dessert. Oh boy I had the 5 cone sampler and was quite impressed when it came out and Happy Birthday was written on the holder. The waitress actually remembered that I said I was finally here for my birthday. And the brownie dessert, the torta and the cheesecake all were a big hit. Yes it cost us a pretty penny but for a special celebration it was a great place. Ugh I remember this place being better when I was growing up in Worcester. Was back home this weekend for my birthday and went for dinner. Overall, it wasn't too impressive. The service was terrible. Absolutely terrible. We had two waitresses yet it took us twenty minutes to get bread and an hour to get our salads before our entrees. Then we finally got our meals 15 min after the salad which wouldn't have been an issue had the salads come out in a shorter time. But an hour?!? INSANE. Especially given the place wasn't full. I got the bucatini bolognese and I did very much enjoy my pasta, it was exactly what I was craving and hit the spot. I loved it! The sauce was awesome :) I will also say the gelato sampler for dessert was great and they even gave me an extra scoop for my birthday. Their menu isn't too extensive for an Italian place, it would be better if they had more options. Their gluten free menu was bigger than the normal menu, which for my dad was great! But why couldn't they offer those gluten free dishes to everyone?? Overall, I had better memories of via than it was :( not saying I'd never return but I don't think it'll be my top choice when I'm back home read more

Another dinner at Via, what can I say the food is delicious. I had the chop salad which is a salad for at least four people as an appetizer. If it's your dinner it's plenty of food. I had the seafood bake with roasted artichokes absolutely delicious! Plus the atmosphere is enchanting and romantic. A great place for a first date. I'm really not a sweet eater but everytime I go I save room for the crepe cake it's 15 layers of crep and I believe it's ricotta cheese. topped with amarena cherries and chocolate! Fabuloso!! If you've never been, you must try it there you won't be disappointed. Another favorite of mine is the burrata and fresh tomato salad. They serve it with their bread in olive oil and it's to die for.
