I come here before (almost) every show I see at Van Buren. They are quick with service and food is SO good. They have vegetarian friendly options, and good local beer if you don't want to spend venue prices across the street. I usually get the white pizza but change up my second slice between the margherita, green, or a special slice. Highly recommend this place for good quality slices. You can also get it to go if you want to eat while standing in line.
This spot is great for some yummy pizza. Stopped by on Friday for a quick early dinner and there was several people dining in. The cashier was super friendly and she welcomed us with a big happy smile. We were a group of three so we needed some time to decide what we wanted. I ended up ordering a slice of sausage, a slice of their special of the day, and a cold water bottle. We waited a few minutes and our orders came by out one by one. Both of my slices were delicious, flavorful, and pretty big. Everyone was friendly here and the the pizza was good. Parking is paid but the worker said it is typically not enforced till the night time. We ate in about 30mins
This place has some of the best pizza slices in Arizona. Tons of unique flavors with a very New York style flare. I love that you can purchase by the slice, and that each slice has fresh basil and parm on it. Every bite was an absolute joy for my taste buds. Loved the hard rock/metal vibe in there 2, especially with 2 concert venues nearby. Will absolutely be returning!
Both my pizza slices were delcious and service was great. I came with a friend and we both enjoyed our food. The cashier who rang us up was very friendly!
I tried Via Della's about three years ago and they were the bomb! The wife and I decided to try it again because we just wanted a good pizza. The last place we tried was disappointing. We ordered a couple of sodas and the same slices we ordered last time, pepperoni and vodka slices. The slices were delivered in no time! They were hot and crispy! I don't know what happened, but the quality just wasn't there. I could not taste the sauce on my pizza. It was non existent. It was like eating pizza bread with cheese and pepperoni. The Vodka pizza had no detectable sauce on it either. It also tasted just like cheese bread. I don't know if its because of different pizza makers or the new standard, but I was disappointed. I was very impressed last visit and even made a statement that the Vodka slice may be my new favorite. I was a little let down this time around!
The pizza here is good! We stopped in for lunch right when they opened. This place gets busy quick. There are some tables but the restaurant isn't that big. The staff we friendly and there are several pizzas to choose slices from. I got two of the Phoenix slices and it was delicious! I have heard the wings are great, so I'll have to give them a try too. I will definitely be back!
Cute little slice shop in downtown. About $5-6 per slice. They have about 7 different slices to choose from and seemed to all be novelty flavors and toppings. You can also get a whole pie of your choice. They grate fresh parm on all the slices which I thought was a nice touch. The girl at the register seemed very knowledgeable about all the pizzas and gave us lots of details and recommendations which we appreciated. First we got the green, di Parma, and the Phoenix. The green has pistachios and fresh arugula on it, I thought the overall flavor was too sweet and the pistachios weren't crush enough. The Phoenix was good, very honey forward and overall the flavor didn't stick out to me. The di Parma was a cheese pizza with procuttio and ricotta, overall a little plain to me. I think they all would've tasted better hot, but I understand that's not super realistic for a slice shop. For our second order we got the vodka sauce slice, which was for sure my favorite. First of all it was piping hot, and that elevated the whole experience. I thought the sauce was so flavorful and savory, and the basil made a perfect bite. I would go back for a whole pie of this! I really liked the prices here, we got dinner for less than $25 for 2. I wouldn't mind coming back to try some other slices and get a pie of the vodka!
My family and I recently hosted our own pizza tour in Downtown Phoenix and unanimously agreed that this was our favorite spot. I recently visited late night after some drinks with my friends and were welcomed by the amazing scent of pizza. The slices are about the size of a Costco slice but way better quality. The pricing is a bit steep, but well suited for the quality and flavor of each slice. If you take a whole pizza to go you'll be surprised by how large of a pie it is! Also - their wings are amazing!
I really wish that I had a different experience, but Via just did not do it for me :( My pizza was soggy. It did not pass the flop test. Not even close. Had to hold it up with two hands. And I ate it right away in my car, so it wasn't sitting. Idk if it was due to how they reheated the slices or if my slices had just been there for too long, but it was super underwhelming. That said, the white pizza was def my fave as far as flavor, and the sesame seeds were a great touch! The Caesar salad dressing was also really, really good! And the salad had lots of croutons. But for 15 bucks I wouldn't get it again. It was 90% lettuce. My other gripe was definitely the parking. There are a few free spaces in the front, but the lot in the back must be paid for and it only has 6- or 12- hour options. It was like $11 to park - basically the same price as 2 slices of pizza! I risked it all and did not pay which gave me anxiety lol. Not their fault at all but parking totally sucks. Pricing of the food is my final thought - for 2 slices and the salad it was almost $30 with tip. That's a lot for a meal just for me! I read that they're using really good quality ingredients and I am a big fan of that and willing to pay for it, but in this case, the flavor of everything just didn't add up to the cost.
We were in the area for the Nutcracker, and used the parking lot directly behind this pizza spot. Honestly if we were here just for the pizza spot 30$ parking is a little much to eat a slice of pizza! Loved the spot it's located, as we walked in the girl was very sweet, she told me what the most popular pizza was. " the Phoenix " We ordered the wings, two slices of pepperoni, one slice of spicy sausage with pepperoni and then the Phoenix. Honestly we didn't like there there were no fountain drinks just bottle. But they had good options! They bright the pizza up our table and honestly looking at the pizza even though it just came "out " it looked like it had been sitting all day it just did not look like fresh pizzas. They all looked so similar that when they gave us the pizzas my husband couldn't tell between the spicy sausage and the Phoenix because they look pretty similar. They both had spicy honey on them. One just had a little bit more decoration and that's how I noticed which one was which, but when they set it down, he could have explained to us, which was which Pizza!. I feel like the menu could have had a description of what was on the pizzas. My husband did not know that the spicy sausage and pepperoni was going to have honey on it or else he would have ordered it without that so the ingredients of the pizza if they're adding something so different like that should be on the menu. We got two orders of wings equating like 18-20 they gave two ranch and washed to charge for an extra. Now with that many wings and two separate orders you would think that each basket would come with 2 sides each at least!! The vibe in there was cool but a little dim, the positioning of the TV was not accommodating to guests! The restroom was not very clean. But the music was good!! It was not the best or worst place!!
This place was across the street from our hotel and it was late but they were still open so we decided to grab a slice. It was one hour before closing so there wasn't a huge selection of slices in the display case. The grandma style with pepperoni seemed to be the freshest so we ordered two of those. The girl behind the counter was nice and quick to take our order. Our slices were delivered after a quick heat up in the oven and they were hot and tasty! Topped off with fresh hand torn basil and freshly grated Parmesan. Next time I'd like to order a whole pie to judge the pizza better when I know it's fresh from the oven... but for a reheated slice it was pretty good.
10/10 casual pizza place if you want a quick grab. Each slice was about $5.50 and huge! My favorite was the vodka slice, as a vodka pasta lover, this HIT! The crust was nice and thin and crispy throughout the slice. Every slice that I got was so good but definitely recommend the vodka one. We had to wait a bit for the pepperoni slice since they were out at the time, but it was only a 10 min wait and we were in no rush so it was great. I highly recommend coming here for a quick bite with friends. I also heard their wings are really good, so I will be trying that next time, and getting that vodka slice.
Well it's official. After many years and many pizzas i have finally found the best slice shop in phoenix. This review is for a counter service slice spot. I live in north phoenix so this trip took a bit but found myself downtown today and finally!!! Soooo good. Please open up a spot in north phoenix!!!!! Cool little place. Great staff. Small place. Only 7 tables. Highly recommended!!!!!
A delicious no-frills NY style pizza place where you can get it pizza by the slice. They have the available slices up near the register sitting in a case as they come out and it sounds like generally if there are no slices of that variety showing in the window by the register, then it's not available to order. They were out of the vodka pizza when we went, which is the one I wanted to try, but both of the other pieces I got were really good so I didn't care. The pieces were large, thin, and with a perfectly crusty bottom that also had a little chew. I got a slice of the white pizza (Via's White Sauce, Mozzarella, Caramelized Onion Jam, Fresh Basil, Parmigiano Reggiano with a Sesame Seed Crust) and the Phoenix (Red Sauce, Mozzarella, Spicy Sopressata, Pickled Red Peppers, Homemade Hot Honey, Fresh Basil, Parmigiano Reggiano). I can't even decide which was my favorite because I liked them both no liked the savory rich flavor of the white pizza and the sweet spicy and deep flavor of the Phoenix. I will definitely be back to get more. read more
I had been wanting to go here for some time after Dave Portnoy went there and gave it a great review. So when I found myself going to a concert with my daughter, I got excited to see that it was close by so of course we went there for dinner before the show. We got four slices to share and loved every single bite. All the guys that work there were super friendly and very helpful. This is now my go to spot when I go to an event downtown. read more
As an East Coast native, I will call this pretty darn good. Di Parma was excellent, totally my jam of toppings. 550 per slice is not New York City cheap but I'll take it. Nothing fancy about the environment and the staff is a little rude, but again that feels like home. read more

When I saw the pictures of this pizza, it made me think of the famous one bite pizza guy! Sure, enough, if you Google search "one bite pizza guy and Phoenix," this place, definitely pops up! So I definitely had to try it! And I am so glad I did! We literally got one slice of each pizza and split it in half. The slices were so good! I didn't anticipate myself liking the White pizza as much as I did! I knew I would love the phoenix! The spicy pizza was a little bit too spicy for my friend to eat (but still good!) But the undercarriage of the pizza was nice and thin, but enough to hold the pizza up structurally. I love how simple some of their pizzas are because it makes you focus on the ingredients. The service was quick and fast. The only downside to me was the bathrooms. The key was connected to a pizza spatula(?) and it is so big that it is difficult to really use. But overall, the dining was very chic! I would highly recommend anyone who is wanting a New York style pizza to come here. Ever since I had this pizza in November, I still haven't been able to stop thinking about it and nothing has topped it in Texas yet! I might need to go back to AZ to get this pizza! read more
My husband has been raving about Via Della for months now... He has been several times and absolutely loves it. The kids too! So when he suggested Via Della for dinner last night, I was all about it. We drove downtown with our daughter, parked in the adjacent lot, and headed in... There was a short line, which gave me time to look at the menu and the pizzas in the case and decide what to order. I went with a square slice of the Deep Dish Grandma Style Pepperonata - it had a creamy red pepper sauce, sausage, and basil. It was good but it didn't blow my mind. My husband went with a traditional slice of pepperoni and another with just cheese, and my daughter had a slice of just cheese. We also shared a Caesar Salad that was made to order but pretty basic. I think in the future, I'd go with a full pie made to order and hope that when you get it right out of the oven, it will add that extra star. In the meantime, you can't go wrong if you want some pizza in the downtown area with a cool vibe. There is limited indoor and outdoor seating. Enjoy. read more

My friend and I decided to eat dinner at Via Della before going to a show across the street. We ordered a DiParma slice, a Grandma slice, and golden bbq wings. They brought the food relatively quickly, within 10 minutes of ordering. Everything tasted good, but the DiParma slice with prosciutto, ricotta dots, and fresh basil was my favorite. Ambiance was casual and comfortable. We liked the little flowers in soda bottles on each table. read more

This is a great place for quick lunch in the DT area. Slices make it really easy to try different combinations of pizza and order comes very quickly. Every slice (5-6) I've tried so far has been very delicious and there's lot of vegetarian options (arugula and pistachio I think might be their best combination). Service is pretty quick. read more
I loved Via Della! This place was the perfect spot to stop in for a slice. I loved how the restaurant had a bunch of choices and specialty pizzas. I went with the classic pepperoni pizza which was amazing. The slice was super filling for $5 and was simply perfect. No notes. The vodka pizza was one I haven't heard of before. It wasn't my favorite but it was interesting. Next time I will try a different slice or just get two pepperonis. The service was friendly and fast. We ordered and got our pizza slices in a few minutes. They even gave us water cups. The location isn't anything too special but I did like the neon touches. There is a really cool neon Via Della sign and neon lights around the menu. This little touch was pretty cool. Parking isn't too hard around here as there's a big pay parking lot on the south side and street parking all over the area. read more

What a great pizza spot. The pizza was unique and had a great balance of sauce, cheese and toppings. The pepperoni was really good. The spicy sausage was my favorite though. I wish there were more Calabrian Chilis as they provided some acid which was paired perfectly to the ricotta. Very nice staff and a welcoming atmosphere. I will be back to try some different flavors soon! read more

Another great pizza shop in Phoenix! Devon was behind the register and was friendly and informative. I ordered the Phoenix and the White pizza. The descriptions are on the glass which was helpful in making the decision. Both were delicious although I think the white had too much onion. I had to try their canoli which was quite yummy, but Dawns NY bakery is the best I've had so far in the valley. Their churro cookies were so good. If you're a cinnamon fan you will love these cookies! I will definitely be back. read more

My Brother in law and Son did a quick little pizza tour of Phoenix. We went to 5 different places, and grabbed a slice from each. Via Della ranked #2 of 5 on our tour. Been wanting to try this place out for a long time! I went with a slice of cheese, and my son went with a slice of Grandma pepperoni. Took a few minutes to reheat in the oven, and then we dug in. How were there? Pretty freaking delicious! The regular cheese slice was my 2nd favorite of the day. The cheese itself kind of broke apart (too hot of an oven?) and wasn't as stringy as I like it. Crust a tad thin, too. Still tasted great though! My Sons Grandma Slice.....WOW! I had a couple bites of it and this was my actual favorite slice of pizza of the day (non cheese, but including cheese lol). The crust was decently thick, crunchy on the bottom, great sauce, great cup pepperonis. When I come back, I'm going straight up Grandma slices. It was absolutely delicious! Cheese slice 8.1 out of 10. Grandma slice, 8.5 out of 10. Great pizza! read more

Sweet slices, easy service, fresh home made taste. It's busy. It's order at the counter and go sit down. They've got canned beers and drinks, no bar. But no need, the pizza and wings will satisfy you fully. Love stopping here before a show at the Van Buren. Look closely around at the decor, look up... amazing calacas and skull art pieces. I'd love to know the artist. anywho, go grab a slice or two. They've got classic pizza styles and and some tasty ass culinary creations. They run out quick on the creative ones. read more

Saw the place on Dave Portnoy. Got excited to give it a shot. We placed an order for delivery. We tried to call in, were told the only way to order is online. We had a special request, but, so be it. We'll place our order online. An hour later, we got a text, that our pizza was left outside. Interesting, no knock on the door, just a text to go get your pie outside. A $60 pizza with $15 going to the driver gets your pizza thrown outside for you to collect. And it looks like this. I learned a lot about this place today and I'll never give them another dollar. read more

Pizza is amazing but the customer service is terrible. The short guy with the beard has always been quite unpleasant the both times I have been in. But I'll give him grace maybe because of location?? But lighten up buddy anyways pizza is great ambiance is great overall great place but watch beard man. read more
I wasn't sure what to expect, given the location, but this is a really charming pizza spot with great ambiance. It's counter ordering by the slice, then they re-heat and bring it out to you. You can also order a whole pizza though of course that wouldn't be as fast. I had one of the spicy slices and the veggie slice as it sounded so different. Both were good but I feel like the veggie one needed more sauce. They also have salads -- which you can order as a half-size, calzones, at least one sandwich, cannolis, and beer, wine, etc. (Though note it's canned wine) There is a huge table that was perfect for our group of 10. Parking is surprisingly simple and while it's paid, it's very reasonable. read more

Via Della is located in downtown Phoenix and they are busy for good reason. We stopped in right at opening and there was already 5-6 other groups waiting before they were even open! The customer service was friendly and I loved they have all their pies on display and what you can expect with flavors. We got a vodka, original, pepperoni and spicy sausage. First off, the crust is what makes or breaks a good pizza for me. I need that crispy bottom and prefer thinner crust. These checked those boxes. Now, flavors were equally amazing. I really loved the vodka and the spicy sausage. The spicy sausage is topped with hot honey which really just elevated the already amazing flavor. The pepp and original were great as well but definitely recommend the vodka and spicy sausage. The slices are good size as well. Can't wait to stop in again!! read more
We were in Phoenix for another activity and were in the mood for pizza. I had previously heard about Via Della Slice Shop so we went in for lunch. They have several different slice options; it's nice to be able to order this way with my son, so I could get him something more plain and my husband & I could something with more toppings. My son ate his whole pepperoni pizza slice. I liked the White Pie; I started with a single slice but ended up ordering a second one. My husband got the sausage slice and then the Phoenix. He preferred the one with ricotta cheese. I would say that for an adult, any less than 2 slices would be too little food (unless you've eaten prior to coming here). The slices look large but they are pretty thin. While we liked how they tasted, they were quite expensive. Additionally , as much of other parts of downtown Phoenix, parking isn't easiest to find. They have 2 or 3 parking spots in the front where payment isn't needed, everywhere else, you have to pay for parking. Overall, I'm glad we tried them out but not in a hurry to come back. read more
