Many people have different opinions, and even needs, when it comes to a local coffee shop. There are so many factors. Let me tell you the top two positive aspects of Vero Espresso in my opinion. 1. The atmosphere is by far the best. An old house turned into a coffee shop is by far the best way that you can go. Comfortable, plenty of room, and that special warmth that you can only get from a home. Not to mention, if you have a large group you can reserve the upstairs. 2. The coffee is amazing! A lot of people have a strong opinion about their coffee. To me, if it's obvious that the person making it has not only done it for a long time, but they take time and care in preparing it. That is when I am appreciative of my coffee and believe that it is good coffee. There are very few negatives to this place, and that is why I have given it four stars. Again opinions vary but I will tell you this. If you are looking for a super quiet place to go for coffee, then it will highly depend on the time of day to get that at Vero (Mornings and early afternoon). If you don't want to see a lot of college students, then this isn't the place for you. Other than that though, I can't think of any other potential negative things about Vero. I went here yesterday for a lunch time coffee. My sister met me there and ordered food, so I added a veggie panini on my order. The ambiance here is VERY cute. It's basically a house that's been turned into a coffee shop. There is a fair amount of inside seating but it was pretty busy so we ended up sitting outside. All in all there were 5 of us there, and we picked a little picnic table and threw a chair on the end. I ordered an Americano to drink. The smallest size is 12 oz so that's what I got. The coffee was good, not the best I've ever had but it was good. There were three vegetarian options on the menu, and none of them were vegan, which was a shame. I was able to get the veggie panini without cheese and without pesto. Basically bread and vegetables. When it came out, the bread was a bit greasy which I'm hoping was oil and not butter, considering I'd told them I'm vegan. Overall, I would totally come back here. The place is adorable and it's a great spot to catch up with a friend or get some work done. There were lots of students studying and people meeting friends for coffee. The prices are good, we ordered 3 sandwiches for like $22. Only thing I wish they would improve on is the menu - please offer vegan options!! read more

I came here years ago and loved it so have been back when visiting Eugene. I went a year ago and it was not so great but as we were on full Covid mode I cut them some slack. I went back this morning. First what I wanted, French toast is not sold on Wednesdays bummer. I ordered a latte...extra hot and some eggs. The food is generally good and overall healthy, but the customer service lacks. We chose the basic egg, toast, bacon and fruit option. Since they served us the coffee first, mine went lukewarm before the food arrived. I asked for a small warm up and the person at the counter stared at me blankly. I explained that the cup was nearly full but not warm. She said, "We offer refills for $1." I again stated that I just needed a warm up and she replied, "well, we don't do that." Seems like an unreasonable policy and not one that will bring us back. I also had leftovers and when asked for some foil a different woman at the counter spoke no words but simply pointed in some direction behind me, as if to show where that might be located. read more

Great place for brunch and a cup of coffee. They have very good cappuccino. We came here for breakfast, and had the toast with fruits and ham sandwich, which is large enough for 2 to share! Really really great coffee and friendly service. The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars is because it's spendy! Holy crap. I get an almond milk latte and granola, and spend about $15 every time. I can't remember paying that much for coffee and granola in Portland so I'm surprised. Lovely vibes!! I ordered a green tea latte and a bagel with schmear. I found a giant antique chair and got cozy in a corner doing some work. Everyone here seemed happy, there were a lot of people talking and seeing friends or doing business. It was buzzing with activity. My green tea was beautiful. My bagel had so much cream cheese on it that I couldn't eat all of it! It was a great experience in this cafe. Best coffeeshop I've been to, and especially the best in Eugene! I've been to many different coffeeshops all around the world (I kinda consider myself a coffee aficionado) and there is nowhere quite like how warm and inviting Vero is. Service: the staff here is super friendly and helpful. Every time I've come here, the Vero staff treats me like family. There is a very homey feeling to this coffeeshop that makes ppl come back time and time again. Coffee: high-quality ingredients from their tasty coffee down to the syrups they use here. I love that they use Stumptown coffee. The baristas are well trained & make beautiful latte art! I love their matchas, chai and mochas..they have great real fruit smoothies too. Food: must say they have delicious food. My favorites are their bagels! Get their Asiago bagel sandwich or their lox, yum. I also love their French toast which comes with lots of fresh fruit, as well as their paninis. Love their gluten-free desserts & vegetarian options! *TIP: they only serve French toast from TH-SUN! Make sure to come early to get it b/c sometimes I've seen them run out b/c it is so popular. Outside: this beautiful Italian-style coffeeshop looks darling! There is a spacious patio with cute flowers and plants. Atmosphere! Inside: the yellow and red decor inside the coffeeshop is lovely. I have a confession to make. My review of Vero may be a little bit biased, because this is where I met my boyfriend. We had our very first date here. I threw my best friend a bridal shower here. Vero was a big part of my life in college, so take that into account when reading my review. But really, it's not *that* biased, because it's mostly based on how awesome their coffee is. When my father and I popped in here last weekend on our way north, he ordered a cup of coffee, took a sip and stopped in his tracks to say "Now THAT'S coffee!" And my Dad is a big coffee connoisseur, so that's no empty compliment. Vero is a coffee shop in a beautiful old Victorian home on the corner of Pearl and 14th, walking distance from campus. They serve delicious pots of tea, excellent hot chocolate, fantastic double shot lattes, and great baked goods. They provide comfy seats for reading, cozy tables for studying, and the perfect environment for a first date. They have rooms upstairs that you can rent for events (perfect for a bridal shower) and they have the nicest staff. If you're looking for a great Eugene coffee shop, look no further. read more

I ordered tea that was flavorless (I'm not sure how that can happen - old tea?). I was certainly in the moment when I arrived at Vero. The Autumn colors are in full bloom all around the cafe and people were sitting at the outside tables enjoying the weather. The location totally has a residential feel to it and this cafe is a home away from home for people on their laptops. I fell a little bit in love with Eugene at Vero Espresso. The place was nearly full with a great cross section of locals young and old. I was impressed and felt really comfortable. The offerings for food are varied, breakfasts and light lunches. Cute little coffeehouse with a nice ambiance & friendly service. They serve food as well, and not just bakery items. In our last 3 visits, my daughter has ordered the same thing twice. She loved the bacon & scrambled egg sandwich! It's big, so I hope you're hungry. Otherwise it's a great item to split. Their mochas are delicious! I have been to Vero espresso quite a few times over the years and have enjoyed the overall atmosphere as well as the food and coffee. Unfortunately the last two times I have been there it hasn't really been the best experience. I typically order an iced quad espresso. I am a barista and have worked in quite a few different shops in the area, I know that to not shock the shots on ice that sometimes you need to add water. The last 2 times I have been there the barista has made a big fuss about how the customer doesn't know what they want or what they are ordering and we just need to make it however is good for them without explaining. I was very gracious and ignored the comments, but it was the last straw when I asked for an actual straw and he said "yeah you can have a clown stick." To say the least, I won't be going back to a place that is so pretentious to their customers. read more

Beautiful Saturday morning spot! We're here visiting from San Antonio & my family brought us here, & we were not disappointed. First off, the place is an old house converted to a coffee shop. The staff was friendly and the coffee was wonderful. My wife got a latte and I got a white chocolate mocha. They offer 2 shots of espresso for any size mocha, which was a nice touch. My white mocha was waaay better than Starbucks - more flavor by far... mmm mm mmmmm! The baristas have some skill and put little designs on the froth and we got hearts on ours. Love this place!! I went here for the second time just the other day to drink a green tea matcha and read a bit. Of course on a Friday it was packed- luckily the Eugene weather was on my side that day so I sat outside, which wasn't as packed as inside. The matcha was excellent. The first time I came here I ordered a lavender latte, which was pretty good but quite strong but it did taste like lavender which was nice. The ham scramble is verrrrryyyy good, and you receive fruit with it also, pretty big serving! A cute cafe in an old victorian style house residing in a cute neighborhood. Stumptown coffee is served here and man....it's addicting and such good quality. I try not to indulge in caffeine anymore but I couldn't help myself and ordered a latte. YUM. Not the friendliest staff but eh... I didn't mind. I just wanted a latte and egg bagel sandwich so I could sit outside and enjoy a conversation with a friend. He got the parfait which had nice fresh fruit and granola. I had the ham egg and cheese bagel sandwich which was huge and filling. They call out your order and you bus your own table. The inside seemed a bit crowded with tables pretty close together but with a large outdoor space on a nice day it didn't matter. The food was pretty good but was ruined for us when we overheard and witnessed the owner rudely approach two people next to us. One of the two was eating but the other chose not to eat. They were approached by the owner and specifically asked if they were going to order. The response was "no" then the owner replied by saying that they were not a library and they would like the support. The owner approached the table a second time asking for support. We understand the plea, but to single out a person rudely, is not a way to draw customers. It doesn't benefit an establishment to have good food if the atmosphere is uncomfortable.
