I've been a Verizon customer for over 18 years, paying for top-tier FIOS and wireless services--about $375 a month. While the actual service (internet, TV, and wireless) is generally reliable, the billing system and customer service are an absolute nightmare. In the fall of 2024, I requested to disconnect two landline phone lines. I was told it would be taken care of. Months later, I discovered I was still being billed. I called again in February 2025--another apology, another promise. Still not done. By May, after wasting hours on the phone, I finally got the lines disconnected--but only after getting visibly angry with customer service. All they offered me for months of overbilling was a paltry $50 credit. In June, I reviewed my wireless service and realized I'd been overpaying for years. I switched to a competitor and am now paying much less for the same level of service. Fast forward to July, and I noticed my Verizon bill was $65 higher than the previous month. Why? I was still being charged for the disconnected phone lines (Verizon Digital Voice) plus other unexplained fees. Customer service told me there was "no disconnect order on file"--even though the lines are obviously inactive and they could confirm that themselves. Their solution? A vague promise of a $200 gift card in 65 days and a possible $20 "loyalty" credit. That's it. Verizon's customer service is incompetent, confusing, and completely unhelpful. If I could give them zero stars, I would. Their actual product is fine--if you can get past the endless billing issues and the wall of scripted responses from customer service reps who can't or won't fix the problems. After this experience, I am actively shopping their competition and am ready to cancel all my remaining Verizon services. Stay far away unless you enjoy being overcharged and ignored. read more

I hate that I have to alternate between Verizon and optimum every year or 2 to get their best rates. Why haven't either of these companies considered a discount for loyalty? Their prices have gone up significantly since first advertising 19.99$ for internet only, Bernie Sanders was right! If you go online to price things out, and don't check out out, they will call, text and email you asking if they can help you complete your order. No, I purposely didn't complete my order. Right now they have a decent deal because they're giving you free Disney and Hulu. When I finally make the appointment, I'm pretty sure they texted me every day to confirm. I appreciate their thoroughness, but could they be a little less annoying? I scheduled an 11am appointment on a Saturday because I wanted to sleep late. They started calling and texting at 8am, and wanted to come early. I made the appointment for 11 for a reason! At my job, I don't call anybody until 9am on a weekday. I think it's rude to call people at 8am on a Saturday. Their installation guy deserves no tip! I had optimum. He literally came in here, ran the wire alongside the optimum wire and plugged into their box that was already in my basement from the last time. I asked him to remove the wiring that wasn't being used and he didn't. He didn't even change my wireless settings from optimum to Verizon or give me instructions. On top of all that, I had to remove the optimum wires and tie up the new one to the ceiling. They are expensive and the customer service sucks, but they're giving a better price than optimum right now. Their sales and installation teams are really f****g annoying too. read more

Verizon Fios is the most horrible company. I just had them install Verizon Fios and got the DVR feature. I put just 6 shows in I regularly watch and I couldn't enter a 7th so I called customer service and they said because their maximum is 6 shows. I regularly watch throughout a year, 60 shows so that means it won't record 54 shows. My Tivo would easily record 100 shows. Verizon Fios DVR is a total piece of junk and totally inadequate. This company deserves zero stars. I'm having take their junk equipment taken out after 1 day installed. They are undoubtably the worst company on earth if you wan to record shows. Stay as far away from them as you can. Had I read Yelp reviews first, I would have stayed away, for they have all extremely poor reviews. read more

Verizon as a company sucks. I've had nothing but issues with them since Wireless and the internets come out. I've been a customer of theirs for 50 years. I was only two weeks late for a bill, not into the next payment month, but only two weeks late and they suspended my service. Can you believe it! I've paid my bills for 50 years. I've never stiffed them and they suspend my service because I'm late for two weeks. Shame on you, Verizon. If you're considering going to Verizon, FiOS, don't. NO STARS! The installer for Verzion Fios did not put the box and wires where I asked him to, it is now right in the middle of a wall in my living room. I have a 16 month old and worry she will pull them all out and hurt herself. I called Verzion to have someone come out and fix it but that request was "directed to the wrong dept". Verizon fios internet connection too slow and worst customer support, nobody receive phone call (most of the time, nobody receive phone call) Worst internet ever! I purchse 1GB(1024MB) plan but when I checked speed after 2 weeks I got around 40MB speed which is strange as I pay verizon fios for 1GB connection. Then I called several time to supports (waiting long time wait time) - fourtuntely I can reach one support person who told me to repalce the router after toubleshooting for 30 minuites. But when I went the verizon retailer shop, they did not find any order for the router. Even though, they called to support from my mobile phone, but nobody receive (wait time move then 30 minuites). Then I go back to home and tried to reach support several time - long time waiting but nobody receive my phone call. I was frustraded with their connection as I have to work from home. Then I have moved to another internet provider with 1GM connection. The another proviers works fine. I will give zero if I could I've been with them for six years every two months or so the price increases. They told me there was a Marie Internet increase in speed and they will send it to me for free. Plus my main DVR which had all of mine television shows from previous years now I would have to rent them each individual episode. I think they purposely did that so much they could have a blank slate and I would have to rent these episodes in order to watch them. That's just a theory. But the fact of the matter is when they told me that the upgrade was for free and that was a lie not only did they know after offices that I did not have the rent hard ware At the house for this new Wi-Fi router to work it's canceled my plan and I lost HBO because of it and I said well I don't want the router that and I said well it's too late you already changed plans on your plan whatever and increased in price and it's around $100 more than X finitey For the same package plus there are hotspots I am not staying with Verizon FiOS at one point they were less expenses and now they are selling much more expensive for so much less channels and I just am on satisfied with their customers support being on trust worthy. After 30 years of cablevision, Fios convinces me to switch. The show up and set me up in my new home. 1 day later it doesn't work. No phone service and when you call my new number it says out of service. I've been trying to call for hours. Currently still on hold. The only people at Fios available to speak to you are the ones selling you service. Problem is, they can't help me. So basically, I'm fucked with no service and zero customer service. Great product but this company has gone way to far. Always giving to get new customers, however did you ever try to get to the corporate level. Even the escalated reps says they can't even email Corp. Why I ask why would they want to charge you $3.50 to pay your bill 18 days ahead of time with this world virus happening? DO NOT do businesses with Verizon. They will tell you any lie to get you to switch their service. They prey on the senior community without any kind of regard. A young man in his 20's knocked on my 65 year old permanently disabled mother's door and began to sell @#verizonfios services. This man had a Verizon shirt and Verizon ID. She advised him that she wasn't interested because Verizon did not offer the Spanish Channels package that Optimum does. He proceeded to tell her oh yes they do and proceeded to call his supervisor and he readily agreed. Now she is intrigued in what they are offering because lets face it, cable is expensive, and she was trying to see if she could save some money. She wasn't suspicious of anything because VerizonFios Vec is supposed to be reputable company. He then proceeded to tell her that if she made the switch as an incentive verizonfios2 would pay her Optimum bill. He then begins the process of explaining the installation and equipment. He tells her that she would have to rent a Verizon Quantum Gateway Wireless Router for over $500 a year. He told her that her other option was to purchase it from Verizon or buy a used on on Ebay. He even did the Ebay search and screen shoot it for her so she could get me to order one for her later that day. When I call her later that afternoon she explained that she was switching cable services because they were offering her a better deal than Optimum and asked if I could purchase the router for her on Ebay so that the young man she dealt with could schedule the installation. I made the purchase that evening and the router arrived 1/4. The installation was made for today. When the technician arrived she handed the technician the router and he proceeded to leave it on the bed and installed a new router. At this time she proceeded to call the young man who initially showed up at her door becauseshe was concerned about the cost of the router. He had nothing to say and hung up on her. She now called the customer service line and she was told that they don't offer the Spanish channels she wanted, her initial reason for refusing the services. Furthermore, they told her that Verizon doesn't pay off balances for new customers. They also said that the router she had purchased couldn't be used. They did however go on and on about their superb picture quality, which to be honest means little to nothing to a 65 year old woman. I'm so angry and appalled that Verizon would conduct business like this and take advantage of senior citizens. Not only did they lie to my mother about the service she would be getting, they also pushed her to spend additional monies on a router they had no intentions of using. I will be writing a review on every review and social media site to expose @verizonfios shady business practices when aquiring new services. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the trouble. I have been a 14 year loyal customer. They placed a multi room WiFi dvr system which resulted in a tv picture in the room I mostly watch to freeze very often. They came in for a so called free service to fIx this and could not remedy. I suggested maybe I move the router and the technician helped me move the router by hand, no installation done, as per his own notes, from the table on the outer bedroom wall to lie on the bed nearby, which admittedly required just a longer cable. Then I get a charge for $100. I was not informed this 'touching' of my router and moving it 2 feet by plopping it on the bed would cost $100. My mistake for not saying no, I'll move it after you leave. What a major ripoff. And oh, by the way, my tv still CONSTANTLY freezes. read more

This review is not about a specific store but the Verizon fios One internet and cable. Do not get it. It is horrible. Have had issues since I connected to their "upgraded" service. You can talk to the remote...it's ok. The cable is constantly out, stations are unavailable and the route claims it goes 1000 ft. My garage is 20 ft from my house. The old service worked fine, the upgraded service doesn't work well at all in the garage. Constantly disconnects or doesn't work at all. I am so angry that I upgraded. Let's talk about Verizon Fios. First, do not fall for their "free Samsung laptop" gimmick. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Second, I moved after a little over a year with Fios. However, even though I'm moving to a Fios household, I am being charged the $125 cancellation fee. My advice is to make sure you'll be staying in your residence for the full two years or else you'll be out the $125 for cancellation fee plus the exorbitant cost of the cable packages. I show up at 9 and waited in the rain for 15 minutes with the cleaning crew. One of the store employees was also there standing outside smoking a cigarette. The other two employees showed up and didn't even ask if I needed help. When they finally opened the store, I said that I needed help returning the cable box. May God help us from telecom fools. Insufferable customer service meant to make you question your existence. Call for service problems and techs blip in claim they fix issues but never even check in with person who made service request? how can you fix an issue if you dont even check in with the person using your service. Speeds are much slower than they present. FIOS is super lmited, refuse to lay new fiber to extend service. They are my only option as xfinity isnt available and similar issues with optimum. Is google fiber coming to NJ anytime soon? why are my upload speeds only a fraction faster than uploads back in the compuserve era of 1993?
