YessVera's Tacos in Long Beach is hands down my go-to spot for tacos. I've been coming here for a few years now, and tacos are one of my top five favorite foods, so I'm pretty particular. I've tried almost everything on the menu, with maybe one or two meats left, and everything has been great. I've had the tacos, nachos, burritos, and even the horchata, and they always hit. The sauces though... OMG. That's really what takes it over the top. They're so good I've definitely taken an extra one or two home to use with breakfast the next day. My favorite meat is the asada, and I also really enjoy their potato tacos, which I almost forgot to mention. Super flavorful and always satisfying. Customer service is really nice, and even though they're usually pretty busy, you still get your food fairly fast for the amount of people there. Just a heads up, parking is super limited, so I definitely recommend calling ahead, placing your order, and then picking it up. It's a food truck setup at a market, so it's not really about ambience, but they do have some outdoor seating if you want to sit and eat. Vera's tacos is just a great little spot with consistently delicious food. Definitely one of the best taco spots in Long Beach. I love Vera's Tacos. It's conveniently located in the back of a market where you can do your shopping and grab a bite to eat at their namesake taco truck after. The carne asada here is delish - it's flavorful and tender. I like it taco form, but it's also great in a burrito. Whatever the case, the carne asada is solid. My favorite thing I've eaten so far are the tacos dorados de papa. For about $10, you get 4-5 taco(?) in a little foil tin. They're deep fried, topped with lettuce and crema. The tacos have just the right amount of potato to keep them meaty after a dip in the fryer. The toppings keep it feeling fresh. Deliciouso. Prices are very reasonable, if not cheap. One of the better taco trucks I have been to. I work nearby and frequently hit it up on the way home. Extremely affordable as well, which is refreshing in this day and age. Big fan of the potato tacos. Quesadillas are packed with meat, the chicken has good flavor. This taco truck is located in the parking lot for Vera's market with plenty of parking in their parking lot. Omg the carne asada sope was so good and the size of it was the size of 2 sopes. Everything about the way it was made was perfect. The carne asada fries though I feel like it was missing something. I ordered it with everything on it onions and cilantro ( didn't see much of either). I probably wouldn't order this again , but the sope definitely You request the hot sauce you want at the window, but they have a self serve veggie condiment area which was very clean and organized. I just happened upon this store about two months ago and I bought some things in the grocery store and I felt like I was in Mexico ha ha! And then I discovered the food truck right behind it and I feel like I'm a connoisseur of Mexican food this was some of the best food I've ever had. I got a quesadilla just cheese with jalapeño and it was amazing and expensive and served pretty fast. The ambience in the store was cool. Vera's is a local legend for sure--my friends and I have been coming here for a good amount of years. It's a taco truck, but a taco truck that remains parked right in front of Vera's Market. The nice part is you can grab a drink or other things you need from the market. Somehow, tacos just taste better coming out of a truck! Food always tastes super fresh and is made pretty quickly. The market/truck are tucked away just a turn off Wardlow street. I've always been able to find a parking spot here, but just keep in mind it's a one-way parking lot strip with only so many spots so it may be a little tight. There should be plenty of parking in the neighbor as well though. There's a few tables outside you can sit down in but we've always gotten food to go and it still tastes great. I've tried pretty much all the meats here and you can't go wrong, they're all delicious--there's a huge variety and a wide selection of vessels to put them in. The tortillas for the tacos have that homemade taste and texture to them. Personally my favorite is the carnitas--it has just the right amount of crisp texture and meatiness to it. The cabeza, which many places don't do, is also great and is actually well made here. The lengua also has a great texture and flavor...but again, you can't go wrong with any choice here. I recommend you also try the potato tacos (tacos de papa)--it's almost like having mashed potatoes inside fried hard shell tacos (dorados). The greens and crema they put on top are just so subtle and really compliment it well. It comes with 4 per order so it's good to share if you come with others. The prices are also great--for how big the burritos are, they're practically more economical than getting tacos! They also do all-meat burritos if you're into that. If you're super hungry, consider a quesadilla which is pretty big for the price. Even coming here post-pandemic, it's still great to see they're thriving with great food at great prices. The staff are friendly and they do take card. Also, for the lazy like me--they give you salsas in a bag once you pick up your order. Otherwise per usual at a taco truck you grab veggies and toppings separately on your own! For any taco/taco truck lover in the local area, you gotta stop by. Once you're there, it'll become obvious by how many people are coming and going with to-go orders that it's worth the trip. read more

I got their nachos and wet burrito (also a lengua taco, but that was for my cat, who must of been a latina in her past life cause she ate all of it) and it was very delicious! When my girl does her happy dance while eating, I know she wants to give the place a 5-star rating. However, I have never seen her do her happy dance AND not say a damn word while eating like she did at Vera's! This is some next level ish! I don't think we said a single word to each other until our plates were cleaned our first time here. Something about the meat at Vera's puts you in a state of bliss. The tacos come with double tortillas that are both soft and crisp, chopped onions, and cilantro. Her favourite was the pastor, while the suadero melted me like I was the Wicked Witch of the West! And the sauces....MMM! You cannot go wrong with the spicy avocado sauce, though each sauce is good in its own way! Although the carnitas taco was jam-packed, the flavour was pretty standard. Grab a pollo or asada taco, throw some green and orange hot sauce on it, and you'll smile internally with each bite. I know a lot of people love cabeza, but it was just too greasy for me. Other menu items I've tried include the mulita, tortas, burrito, and sope. I'm not a cheese guy, and I even liked the mulita! The hot sauces are necessary here because of the thickness of the cheese, though. The best option I've found for the torta was carnitas. The bun was buttered and grilled, there was avocado in the filling, and it was only $6! The burrito was unremarkable. However, it was deceptively filling for its size! Conversely, the sope wasn't very filling, but it was certainly tasty! It came with a crisp, thick tortilla and was topped with refried beans and fresh cheese. Tacos de papa are a great option for my vegetarians out there. The shells were fried and crisp, the potatoes were soft, and the toppings were fresh! Three tacos are $4.15, four tacos are $5.51, a torta is $6, and a mulita is $5.51 after taxes. I love a good deal! The parking lot is small, and you do have to drive through a couple of crowded (with parked cars) residential streets when you leave because the parking lot is one way. You're better off finding street parking on Delta or Wardlow. read more

However, after eating the Asada fries, my stomach started to hurt. Have pretty much tried most of the menu by now, but I have to say the potato tacos are amazing - and that's really never been my thing. Salsas are all really good, and the price is even better.
