YessVera's Tacos in Long Beach is hands down my go-to spot for tacos. I've been coming here for a few years now, and tacos are one of my top five favorite foods, so I'm pretty particular. I've tried almost everything on the menu, with maybe one or two meats left, and everything has been great. I've had the tacos, nachos, burritos, and even the horchata, and they always hit. The sauces though... OMG. That's really what takes it over the top. They're so good I've definitely taken an extra one or two home to use with breakfast the next day. My favorite meat is the asada, and I also really enjoy their potato tacos, which I almost forgot to mention. Super flavorful and always satisfying. Customer service is really nice, and even though they're usually pretty busy, you still get your food fairly fast for the amount of people there. Just a heads up, parking is super limited, so I definitely recommend calling ahead, placing your order, and then picking it up. It's a food truck setup at a market, so it's not really about ambience, but they do have some outdoor seating if you want to sit and eat. I'm definitely a fan of Vera's tacos. So this is a bodega on the west side of Long Beach. They have a food truck in their parking lot. Dependent on the time you go, it can be tricky to get in and out of the parking lot. It's sort of a one-way in and one way out situation. I've had their tacos, nachos, burrito, bowls, and tacos dorados of papa (potato). I have no complaints about any of these. My favorite meat go to are their Carnitas and chicken. When I ordered the burrito bowl, I usually ask for a half steak half chicken. The taco dorados are a hit with my family as an appetizer or l I'll order a couple orders for family gatherings. Very tasty! They also have a veggie and salsa bar outside of the truck, which is very helpful to take radishes, limes, cilantro, and onion. They sometimes have pickled onions as well. There's salsa especially the orange one is so fire. I usually go inside the bodega to get a full-size one for my house. The green salsa which is made with avocado is really good too. The cashier is on point with your order and the cooks do the best I can with turning around food. Depending on the time, you can wait about 15 -20 minutes sometimes. They also have a few table tables that are covered with a tarp for shade where you can sit and eat as well. read more

I love Vera's Tacos. It's conveniently located in the back of a market where you can do your shopping and grab a bite to eat at their namesake taco truck after. The carne asada here is delish - it's flavorful and tender. I like it taco form, but it's also great in a burrito. Whatever the case, the carne asada is solid. My favorite thing I've eaten so far are the tacos dorados de papa. For about $10, you get 4-5 taco(?) in a little foil tin. They're deep fried, topped with lettuce and crema. The tacos have just the right amount of potato to keep them meaty after a dip in the fryer. The toppings keep it feeling fresh. Deliciouso. Prices are very reasonable, if not cheap. It breaks my heart to have to write this review, as Vera's has been somewhere my partner and I have frequented for the past couple of years and would drive pretty far to not only order their food but also go inside to their mini market to buy their sauces in bulk. The amount of disrespect and wasted time we experienced this morning has really put a damper on our day. We always order the same thing. A brc burrito with avocado, a bean and cheese burrito extra beans add avocado, and two veggie fries (aka the carne asada fries but replace the carne with beans) we are both vegetarian and have been for years. They've never gotten our orders wrong until last weekend. The burritos were good, but it wasn't until we were already on the freeway that we realized they only put sour cream and cheese on our fries. I called them and told them the situation and the girl on the phone (who sounded exactly like the same girl on the register that night, who was also there this morning. She's a younger girl with glasses) apologized and said to come back so they can add the beans. We drove all the way back, I explained the situation to the another girl, and she took the fries. Took them over ten minutes to remake them. She gave the fries to me and I trusted her and didn't look at the fries until they got home. Got home, was super hungry and took my first bite, and what did I realize? A mountain of meat underneath the beans. I ate meat. I'm vegetarian. Years of that down the drain. I was very frustrated. So my partner called and explained the situation to the girl who answered the phone the first time, and she basically told him that she's sorry and to come back anytime to get the refund for the fries. We do not live close are almost always at work, so it took us a week to come back. I wait in the car and my partner goes to kindly ask for the refund, they said they could not give it to him because the owner said that it isn't allowed, if a refund were to be provided it would have been provided that same day. So they were trying to push the idea of just remaking the food but eating greasy veggie fries first thing in the morning really isn't our cup of tea. So he comes and he gets me from the car thinking maybe they don't believe me and they'll recognize me. I may as well had stayed back because when I was trying to explain the situation to the blonde haired woman she did not make any eye contact with me, she would only look at my partner to reexplain why she could not provide the refund, and when I would try to say something she would speak in a louder tone and speak over me. Mind you, she claimed that I had told her I wanted carne asada fries, which is preposterous, if you acknowledge a misunderstanding that's one thing but you're basically calling me a liar :/ I've had a really difficult week, it's not in me to stand here arguing with this person who won't even acknowledge my existence over a $20 something order of two veggie fries. She could care less about us, or the fact that we are two very committed vegetarians that just consumed meat thanks to their carelessness. Our feeamily and friends do live around the area and have also been coming here for years. They have been made aware of the situation and they will not be returning. I harbor no anger or hatred towards the managers and team of Vera's regardless of the frustration and tears I may have shed over having consumed cow meat again. I hope that if there is any sort of kindness or empathy in their heart, they can sit with this as a team. And realize that you don't treat people this way. I know very well first hand how working in customer service for this long can make someone bitter, but me and my partner did nothing to deserve the treatment we received this morning. No apologies, no empathy, nothing. read more

This taco truck is located in the parking lot for Vera's market with plenty of parking in their parking lot. Omg the carne asada sope was so good and the size of it was the size of 2 sopes. Everything about the way it was made was perfect. The carne asada fries though I feel like it was missing something. I ordered it with everything on it onions and cilantro ( didn't see much of either). I probably wouldn't order this again , but the sope definitely You request the hot sauce you want at the window, but they have a self serve veggie condiment area which was very clean and organized. I just happened upon this store about two months ago and I bought some things in the grocery store and I felt like I was in Mexico ha ha! And then I discovered the food truck right behind it and I feel like I'm a connoisseur of Mexican food this was some of the best food I've ever had. Vera's is a local legend for sure--my friends and I have been coming here for a good amount of years. It's a taco truck, but a taco truck that remains parked right in front of Vera's Market. The nice part is you can grab a drink or other things you need from the market. Somehow, tacos just taste better coming out of a truck! Food always tastes super fresh and is made pretty quickly. The market/truck are tucked away just a turn off Wardlow street. I've always been able to find a parking spot here, but just keep in mind it's a one-way parking lot strip with only so many spots so it may be a little tight. There should be plenty of parking in the neighbor as well though. There's a few tables outside you can sit down in but we've always gotten food to go and it still tastes great. I've tried pretty much all the meats here and you can't go wrong, they're all delicious--there's a huge variety and a wide selection of vessels to put them in. The tortillas for the tacos have that homemade taste and texture to them. Personally my favorite is the carnitas--it has just the right amount of crisp texture and meatiness to it. The cabeza, which many places don't do, is also great and is actually well made here. The lengua also has a great texture and flavor...but again, you can't go wrong with any choice here. I recommend you also try the potato tacos (tacos de papa)--it's almost like having mashed potatoes inside fried hard shell tacos (dorados). The greens and crema they put on top are just so subtle and really compliment it well. It comes with 4 per order so it's good to share if you come with others. The prices are also great--for how big the burritos are, they're practically more economical than getting tacos! They also do all-meat burritos if you're into that. If you're super hungry, consider a quesadilla which is pretty big for the price. Even coming here post-pandemic, it's still great to see they're thriving with great food at great prices. The staff are friendly and they do take card. Also, for the lazy like me--they give you salsas in a bag once you pick up your order. Otherwise per usual at a taco truck you grab veggies and toppings separately on your own! For any taco/taco truck lover in the local area, you gotta stop by.
