The good the bad and the ugly.... I was so excited to have a new place open up on the neighborhood, I waited til they got situated before going. (Being in the industry, I know there are always links, even w/ the best) The good- super friendly, large space, clean and big menu. The sampler platter was ok... corn fritter was a song.. The bad- I ordered take out via phone, was told 30 min. I showed up in 30 to find out they never put my order in. They offered me a beverage on the house which is great, but still sucks that I had to wait another 30 min. The ugly. The Cuban is not a Cuban, it was served on a plantain instead of bread, which had this been written on the menu, I would have skipped it. There was also no mustard on it. Thankfully I had some mustard and I removed the plantain to eat with a knife and fork. The other sandwich said it was chicken w/ sweet plantain, lettuce and tomato. It was very under-seasoned and again on plantains.. not a sandwich w/plantains. The fries were soggy at best. I really wanted to like this but I think they need to work out the rest of their issues. Went here on a Saturday for date night with my husband. I was skeptical prior to arriving because I looked at the reviews, but I'm happy we didn't listen and decided to try for ourselves. When we were arrived we were immediately greeted & decided to sit at the bar. The bartenders were friendly and attentive even though there were several large parties in the dining room. The restaurant is very spacious and beautifully decorated. They played Latin music in the background and even had a DJ with salsa lessons that started around 9:30pm. For food we ordered bacalaitos for the appetizer, they were smaller than traditional bacalaitos, but it was perfect for a starter & was surprisingly not too greasy. I had the Costilla de Res (short ribs) & risotto. The short ribs were very tender, falling off the bone, & full of flavor. The risotto was so smooth and cheesy it was delicious. My husband ordered the Mofongo with bistec encebollado. He said it was flavorful & the meat was tender. Overall there was great service, the vibes were on point, the food was delicious, & the drinks were great too. Only downside, I wish they were located closer to me lol. But we will definitely be back again. I'm really hoping they stay around for the long haul. I've always said CT needs their own "Don Coqui" just like NYC... & I'm really hoping this is it! read more

I went for dinner with my 2 friends on a Saturday night. We sat at the bar and ordered the tequila flights, I wasn't a fan of the flights, they tasted like pure sour mix. The bar tender and part owner Lewis was friendly. They didn't have a DJ that night. Food was average. Probably would go back once they've been open for a while. read more

Went there for an early lunch on 3/29. We were greeted by a very pleasant young man who waited on us. We were not familiar with a few dishes and he explained them to us. We then ordered the Pollo Asado and the Pollo a la Criolla. Neither one of us was disappoined with the food and portions. The place was clean, very spacious and especially liked the decor. The entrees and apps were awesome. The food took a little long but everything was hot fresh and delicious. We got some cocktails that weren't the best. I think a good bar class or attention to cocktails will do them good. The service atmosphere and food was great! Very cute spot. They had salsa night starting at 9pm but we didn't stay that long! Cons: The waitress was rude and not welcoming. She also didnt speak Spanish (which is not a big deal anyways). Some of the food was old or reheated which we were sad about. We tried the Picaderas, Bistec Encebollado, Mofongo de Pulpo, Mack and Cheese and Bacalaitos. All the meat in the Picadera were hard and reheated... we were highly disappointed at it since it was well seasoned. The mofongo was hard. The rice and bistec were hard and overly seasoned. Many things in the menu werent available either which was disappointing. We were given someone elses bill and had to wait a while for the waitress to fix it. No manager was available during the time we were there. Pros: Very clean, bathrooms were nice and clean. The ambiance was nice. The music was good and the murals were beautiful. The space is big and theres plenty of parking. The place is clean and beautifully decorated. Their menu has alot of options (if they were all available). Their drinks were good as well. One of the other staff members (young hispanic girl) she was very nice and welcoming as opposed to our assigned worker. The bacalaitos were good! And the mac and cheese was great! read more

We were a group of 12 and were served at different times so we did not eat together due to poor timing of food prep. Not acceptable! Waitress was confused and unorganized. I would put zero star but it wouldn't let me. When I first arrived with my family there is no hostess I wasn't sure if you just walk in and pick your seat or if you have to wait. We were called over to the area where you order take out and the music was so loud we were yelling when asked if we were dining in. We were siting down for about 20min before the person that sat us down came to ask what we will have to drink. She didn't even introduce herself. After 15minutes we got our drinks the place wasn't even busy at all. We order the appetizer we order Antojitos and picadera on their menu which is like a sampler of different Puertorican cuisine. We got 1 Alcapurria, two fried empanadas, 1 potato ball, 1 corn fritter. Which for an appetizer wasn't shareable we each grab one thing. Then the other sampler we never got the pork ribs the plantain were small and tastes like frozen plantain not fresh at all. For dinner we order garlic shrimp with plantain for my daughter it was okay shrimp were a little too chewy but good flavor. Then I order the Churrasco with mofongo. It was supposed to be a grilled churrasco what they brought is was churrasco stew. Not sure why they ask how I wanted my steak cooked if they were making stew out of it. Any how I told the server that this wasn't grilled she asked if I want them to sear pan I said sure I just want that and the Chimichurri on the side. She took it and came back to ask if I wanted the same mofongo that was on the plate I said no because they put the stew sauce on it. She comes back 5min later with the plate. They had clean the mofongo but you could still see the part that was darker due to the sauce so they never changes it. The steak was sear but it was the same steak they trew all the peppers and onions from the previous plate even though I had ask them not to. To top it off now I got food poisoning. They charge you for refill soda. I would never eat from here again. read more
