    Ne clam chowder
    Sonya M.

I stopped in because I was craving clam chowder and had some time to waste before meeting with my mom. The clam chowder was decent. It wasn't the best I've ever had but it wasn't bad either. I did add 1 1/2 packets of salt and 1 1/2 packets of pepper. The ambiance is casual. The wait staff is friendly. It's pretty slow early evening on a Monday. It's perfect if you are looking for an after work spot w your coworkers. Or if you are finishing up paperwork alone. They have a nice bar but I'm doing a dry February. Looks like it'll be a very cute option for Valentines as well.

Fried Calamari - look at the size of those rings!

The family visited for the first time for Christmas Dinner. There were 10 of us total. I wish I would have kept my receipt so I had our waitress's name. She was Awesome! Half our party did substitutions and she took it in stride. Our appetizers were fried calamari, crab cakes, and we did a crawdad's meal to share as a table. The fried calamari rings were huge, less chewy than normal yet crispy. The crab cakes were so good a teenager actually loved them. The crawdad's had plenty of meat in them. Our food also very good the only things we did not like the salad's and potato sides were small. Our dinners were (2) crispy fried shrimp baskets, (3) boil combos, cajun shrimp w/ side salad, and salmon with a side salad. All the seafood in the boils were fresh and tasty. The crispy fried shrimp the batter was nice and thick with lots of flavor. Salmon was two good sizes pieces and so good! I will be back with my Dad so he can try The Boilery!

Amazing service and great food! The place is large, open air and wonderful atmosphere! Princess was our server and she was wonderful.

We were craving seafood so we decided to dine in at the Boilery Seafood & Grill. I have been here a few times. It's located inside the Brass Mill Center Mall where the old Bertucci's use to be. We ordered their signature item which is the boil bag. We got the Make Your Own Seafood Combo where you get to pick your catch, pick a sauce, and then pick a spice level. For my boil bag seafood catch I went with the snow crab and shrimp; the combo also includes corn and potato. I got the garlic butter for my sauce and I did not add any spiciness to it. It was delicious.I also got a classic margarita which was very good. The portion size is reasonable for the price, but overall the meal is not very filling.

We had lunch here today after having lunch last week at Hook and Reel. The Boilery is much much closer to us as we live on the West end of Waterbury. I have to say the food was so good and so was the service. Our server was Princess and she was attentive and gave us a great recommendation for the sauce choice. The corn was good, the potatoes were a little undercooked for my taste. I was a little disappointed to hear the rice balls had been discontinued but they are still on the menu. In addition, they offer great side choices! Hush puppies were so good and their french fries were the best of any restaurant we have been to in a while. My husband and I shared the crab leg boil and it was the perfect amount of food for the two of us given the time of day. I would not hesitate to make this a date night place!

Great seasoning! When you go to a restaurant your fries usually are plain and bland. But not here the seasoning they use on the fries and chicken strips is very good, and they're not stingy with the portion. Since the pandemic I've noticed many places have been making their portions smaller. So when you go to a place that you were a regular at before the pandemic and you notice that your meal is smaller but at the same price it makes you want to not be as loyal as you once was. If The Boilery Seafood and Grill keeps with this good taste, and nice portion size, they'll have a new regular. The order ahead option is very useful. I was able to pay ahead as well which limited how long I had to be in the restaurant. I really appreciated that option. Mask were worn and the restaurant looked very clean. I do plan on trying another meal soon to confirm my good experience.

I paid $30 for a full 1lb or scallops... This is what I received. Highly disappointed.

They share a funky space with New Curds on the Block cheese shop in an old brick mill building. We climbed a rickety wood staircase in the back of the building to get into the shops. Don't enter through the front of the building or you'll end up in a karate dojo. They sell super fresh fish and shellfish - Atlantic Salmon, Yellowfin Tuna, Black Sea Bass (MA). Blackfish, Sardines, Pink Shrimp, Scallops, Soft Shell Crabs, Steamers, Littleneck Clams, Gem Clams, PEI Mussels, and Crab Cakes. You can order online and pick up at their Oakville Shop, Bantam Farmer's Market, or Washington Depot Farmer's Market. We swung by yesterday and had a hard time deciding what to buy. I was tempted by the soft-shell crabs because I never had them before. But ultimately, I chickened out and went for three of their big crab cakes. They were $7 each and worth every dime. They weighed in at 4 ounces and were PACKED with crab meat and very little breading or filling. A few minutes in the air fryer at 350 and they were as good as any I've ever had. As I said, they share retail space with the New Curds on the Block cheese shop (after all, the two owners are married), and after we bought the crab cakes, a wedge of Dutch Knuckle cheese, a tin of smoked mussels, some addictive Maple Toffee Almonds, all of the purchases rang up on a combined receipt.

The shop's name refers to an idiom that is used to express something being completely full. CONCEPT: The shop provides a curated collection of seafood, and associated seasonings, to Litchfield County. LOCATION: To the Gills shares a second floor corner suite with a cheese shop and knife sharpener. The suite is located in a building that long served as the site for Seymour Smith garden tool manufacturing. AMBIANCE: The shop is decorated with many unique items, such as an old cash register and oven. Tremendous windows line the time-worn brick walls of the former factory which had been built in the early 20th century. FOOD: The shop sells custom poke bowls and prepared chowder, crab cakes, and seaweed salad for quick meals. Shellfish, fin fish, smoked fish, and seafood seasonings are also sold, including uncommonly found fish such as parrot fish. SERVICE: Service is friendly and knowledgeable. TIPS: To the Gills also sells through the Washington Farmers' Market during warm weather Saturdays. There is no seating in the building, but there is a gazebo with two outdoor dining chairs and a side table in the parking lot. Neighboring Steel Creek has a bench overlooking the bridge. There is no elevator in the building. The second floor can be reached via an outdoor ramp that stretches across one side of the L-shaped building. To the Gills periodically serves raw oysters at neighboring Lasting Brass Brewery. Check the brewery's event calendar. To the Gills occasionally arranges informative events at the shop. In November I participated in a caviar tasting event in which eight different fish roes that are sold at the shop were featured and their provenance described. Follow the shop's Instagram account for future event announcements. A cheese shop (New Curds on the Block) and blade/knife sharpener are located in same suite.
