    Carne Asada

When we first walked in, the greeter was so lively and friendly honestly, he set the tone for what I thought would be a great experience. He sat us down, but we didn't like the spot, so when our waitress came, we asked if we could move. She said, "Yeah, go where you want," but that was it. We ended up carrying our own chips, salsa, and menus to the new table, which felt a little odd. From there, the service was... cold. She seemed annoyed that we didn't know right away what we wanted to drink or eat, and while she technically did her job, it didn't feel welcoming. As for the food, it was just okay. It didn't look like the photos and honestly felt a bit thrown together. I got the carne asada and the rice had zero flavor (definitely the worst part of the meal). My friend's lobster enchiladas were really good! The drinks were also just okay. Not bad, but definitely not memorable. We even ended up ordering two drinks each, which I usually never do, just to give them another shot. Also the decor was beautiful but I fully decorated restaurant! Overall, it wasn't the worst experience, but between the so-so food, bland rice, and less-than-warm service, I wouldn't rush back.

    Steak and shrimp fajitas

Super let down. Spent $60 bucks for the steak and shrimp fajitas with sides of guacamole and salsa. No seasoning. Barely any steak or shrimp but plenty of peppers and onions. Chips stale. Was really hoping for a good Mexican dinner. It was anything but good

Fuego is beautiful, the perfect spot for pictures! Each section of the restaurant has its own unique style. The servers were welcoming. The margaritas are good! They have a happy hour menu with selected options (wine, beer, plain margaritas (no flavors), wings, taquitos, nachos, quesadilla ($6) ). The food on the other hand not so great. We ordered, birria tacos, fuego bowl, and the entire happy hour menu. The best thing were the wings! Maybe the reg menu nachos are better, but it's literally store bought chips and fixings thrown on top. The fuego bowl didn't have much flavor, reminded me more of hibachi chicken. The birria tacos were so/so. I recommend them for their happy hour, $6 you can't beat (maybe you can)

Anyone else love Mexican restaurants in their 20s and eat way too many free chips and salsa with your margs to save money and fill up so you didn't need to order an app? Maybe even had leftovers because you had so many chips you couldn't eat your whole meal by the time you ordered it? Just me? Can't be! The hubby was flying home on Valentine's Day, so I spent the night out celebrating Galentine's Day at Fuego! The place was packed, parking lot full and service was still great! We loved our drinks (and mocktail) and all of our dishes; no one had leftovers to take home! My carne asada burrito was big, filling and the flavors were perfect together! Surprisingly, salmon was on the menu here and I didn't order it. But my friend did and I heard great things! I did frequent a lot of Mexican restaurants back in the day, but they don't make it into my rotation often anymore. I love several spots but I know chips, salsa and guac are my weakness and my metabolism isn't the same, so I sort of try to avoid the temptation to binge on them too often. This was a great choice that I wouldn't have picked out, but I'd be glad to go back whenever someone throws out the idea (as would all 4 of us that had never been there before)! Great spot, clean, welcoming, gluten free options and tequila for days! What more could you want?

You are greeted with a beautiful mural and a special Tequila storage bar for customers are frequent diners and drinkers. We started off with a Fuego y Pasión (passsion fruit and jalapeño tequila) and a Doña Diabla (jalapeño tequila and Orange juice) We ordered chip, salsa and queso which were very good! We had the Birria tacos and I've NEVER had so much meat! They pack the tacos!! I got the Tacos Chilangos (pork, cilantro and grilled pineapple) everything was very good and savory. Service was a it slow as they were packed, but we were able to be in and out within the hour

This is a 4.5 Review. I wish Yelp had half stars because the ONLY ding this place gets is for the Guak needing a little help. He made it at the table for me & I asked for it spicy, l but I was on the phone so I didn't watch him. It needed more jalapeños, more lime & salt & pepper, but after modifying it was delicious. I cannot say anything negative about the food or service. Staff was friendly & delightful. The rice, beans, plated guak, pickled onions & the pork (the star of the show) were all perfection! Even the table salsa was good. They make their own house Tabasco which was a little sweet with heat (not my favorite) but It complimented the salsa when combined & gave it that extra little kick. I cannot speak to the acoustics of the place because I went in near closing, so they were not full, but the music was pleasant, appropriate & at a good volume. ( that cannot be said for everywhere) Oh yea, one more caviot.. The only two places i know that will take the pork carnita meat and make ot into a nacho platter is Newington Puerto & here.. This place is now in my favorite roation.. Look out Newington Puerto Vallarta & WEHA Ocho Cafe!! I definately recommend it! Come give it a try.

My husband and I decided to try Fuego because of the reviews. Upon entering the restaurant, we found it to be clean and adorned with interesting decor. We ordered queso dip, flautas mexicanas, and chicken enchiladas verdes. While the food was edible, it was very plain and underwhelming. The prices were fair, but the flavor was lacking. Our waiter, Juan was very friendly and always made sure we had what we needed. We wanted to like Fuego, as CT seems to lack decent mexican food, but this place just fell short. We shall not return.

Enjoyed dinner here for an evening out with my wife. We ordered a spicy margarita and a guava margarita to start. For appetizers we enjoyed chips with fresh salsa and queso. For dinner I order the TACOS DE BIRRIA for $17.99 it comes with 3 Soft corn marinated tortillas, filled with slow braised beef, melted cheese, onions, cilantro and queso fresco ,and homemade thick and flavorfull consome. My wife got TACOS CHILANGOS for $15.99 that came with 3 Soft corn tortilla, filled whith marinated pork, grilled pineapple, seasoned and prepared with our house recipe, Topped with onions and cilantro. The food came out quick and was delicious. Staff was friendly and service was excellent for a busy Saturday night. Can't forget the festive atmosphere. Beautiful artwork here.

I visited Fuego's relatively recently opened Brick and Mortar in Cromwell. They have food truck roots, but I'd describe the restaurant as a very well executed family style Mexican restaurant. The parking lot was fairly full at 5:40 on a Saturday night. There were open tables, but not many. The decor wasn't a particular selling point, but the inside was clean and nice and there were some cool lighting fixtures. Service was efficient and friendly. My one note on service is that we had five people sitting at a large circular table and it made sharing two salsas for the chips difficult. They brought us more salsa as we ran out, but we ran out a couple of different times. Not a big deal, but something to think about. I'm familiar with the Fuego Food Truck (it was often at GastroPark), but I never ate their food. I assumed the food was going to be good given Fuego's reputation, but I was eating with some family members who can be hard to be please and some of them don't eat a lot of Mexican food. This was a borderline miracle in my family. Everybody liked their food. My Tacos Birria were very good. The tacos were packed with tender shredded beef. It had a shreddable pot roast sort of consistency. The tacos had a good crispy texture and were well topped with queso fresco, cilantro and pickled onions. The beef consommé was also good. The side of pinto beans were decent, but didn't move the needle for me. I tried a little bit of everybody's dishes, which included a carne asada dinner, a carne asada dinner, a shrimp burrito, and chicken nachos. Everything was good. The carne asada was very tender and flavorful. The small shrimp from the burrito were tender and the mild cheese sauce was tasty. The shredded chicken in the Chicken Nachos was well seasoned and tender. I assume they put the same chicken in burritos and enchiladas, and that's a good thing. The Greater Hartford area has a number of what I would describe as family style Mexican places, as opposed to Mexican restaurants trying to serve super high end authentic Mexican food. I'm not sure our family has had a better experience at any of those family style places. Fuego had my recommendation. 4.5 Stars

    Shredded chicken quesadilla - HUGE

Although the decor isn't sure what it wants to be, the service and food more than make up for weird lights. Antonio was personable and friendly since the moment we arrived. He made us feel very welcome. As soon as we sat down, chips and salsa were placed in front of us. Chips were good, salsa was ok - not to my taste preference but I still ate it! I had their jalapeño passion fruit marg and it was really good! Spicy! For dinner me and my wife ordered a shredded chicken quesadilla to start and it was massive - it's not an app - it's a meal! We were going to order a double portion of the steak fajitas but our server let us know it's just slightly more protein but double the sides. On his recommendation we ordered the single serving and we were glad we did - the portion was PLENTY for two people. Food came out fresh and tasted great. Drinks were good. Service was awesome. Really enjoyed our time here and will definitely come back next time we're out this way. Pro tip: bring a sweater - it's freezing in here!!

I was craving some tacos today and I decided to give this new establishment a shot. And I was very pleased with this choice. The place is very well decorated, very calm ambiance and good background music. Service? With the " Hola Amigos" they break the ice. Phenomenal Felipe was a funny and a respectful young man. Food a bit pricey for the dish size but very good. They need to work on their beans. Can food is not acceptable

Fuego means fire and this new eatery is ON FIRE. We chose the 4th of July weekend to try it out and it was a big bang with our family. We tried several food options, all delicious. The service was excellent too, thanks to Filipe, our waiter and Juan who delivered our meals down his arm. This newly renovated eatery is charming. We'll be back and hope this fire never goes out.

This place came up as one such place, so we made the trek. It's a small place, enough for a few people to stand and a couple of tables off to the side. This place is very much a to-go location. The cashier was very friendly answered our questions without any hesitation. We hit a smattering of tacos, a tamale and elote. Also done chips and guac. Food came out quick and we ate in the small parking lot in the car. The food is fresh and everything was seasoned correctly for authentic Mexican fare. The proteins were a bit overcooked and they needed sauce to make them more palatable. Their green sauce was spicy but vinegary but fresh and light and their roasted pepper sauce was smoky and much heavier on the heat. The tacos varied between overcooked and dry to just right but underseasoned. We had to tweak every taco to make it good enough. The sauces really helped though. The tamale was flavored masa and cooked well with large chunks of salty pulled pork. Was very tasty. The elote corn was still a little out of season but the mayo, spice, and cheese were spot on in portion and flavor. It's good, and very true to its roots. If they executed the proteins well and upped their spices then this would be a phenomenal spot. As it stands, it's a good taco spot for the area but not worth a trek.
