    Birria Tacos de birria
    Hannah M.

Not terrible but wouldn't order again. I got the classic burrito and birria tacos and split everything with a friend. They gave sour cream, guac, and salsa on the side, and the burrito was served with a side of rice (no beans though, which I thought was unusual. The burrito was good and the portion of meat inside was generous. The rice that it was served with was a bit boring but tasty nonetheless. I found the whole thing to be a bit lacking in flavor. The salsa and guac were both terrible, which is always my minimum bar for measuring Mexican restaurants. If the salsa and guac aren't at least decent, it's not worth its muster. The birria tacos were pretty tasty and I was impressed by the flavor of the consommé. The birria itself could have been a little more moist and tender, but the flavor was decent. They were reasonably inexpensive ($12 for three I believe). All in all, food probably would have tasted better with a strong margarita alongside it, but it wasn't a horrible lunch by any means.

Came back again, for Cinco de Mayo fun. Fabulous service and great food. The decor was super festive and some nice drink choices. I got the fiesta margarita which had peach schnapps added as a unique, and yummy, twist! I got Brad's big burrito and it was! And we couldn't resist a festive dessert! Guava tres leches cake and caramel tres leches cake!

So we decided to try a new place to support small business. It wasn't bad, or great. May try again when things change. I don't want to slam any business for trying to stay afloat in the pandemic. We ordered a chimichanga, some tacos, poppers and churros. I'm aware some of this doesn't travel well, so took that into consideration. The poppers were pretty good, had to heat back up (it's cold out, no ones fault) I threw them in a toaster oven for a few. They were pretty tasty!! The chimichanga is my complaint. It had very dry diced chicken in it. It was a texture thing as there were pieces that were fatty/cartilage. I'm Used to nice crispy chimichangas with shredded juicy chicken This was dry and not really what I was craving. The outside was soft still like not fried. Skirt tacos were good flavor but also dry, we threw some hot sauce in it to help it along

I am convinced these yelp reviews are fake. I dined here with my family, and not one of us finished our plate. The food was TERRIBLE. First problem - chips brought to table not hot and stale. Salsa was great. Second problem- I got enchiladas...with steak filling and mole sauce. Steak was not included inside the enchilada but was served as one giant thin piece served over top? It was so tough and was not edible. Mole sauce was the most disgusting part. It tasted like melted hersheys chocolate mixed with cayenne pepper. Too sweet and drenched the whole plate. To even eat the small bits I did was a feat in itself. Will never come back and have posted my experience in several Facebook groups...it takes the cake for worst Mexican in Connecticut!

Love the colors and decorations, particularly the Mexican blanket-like tablecloths in this small, quaint place with the best Margarita I have ever ever had! What made it even better was it only cost me 1 cent with a Yelp check-in! Fantastic! Mon and Wed are Margarita specials and Tuesdays are for tacos special pricing! I was warmly greeted and immediately brought chips and the freshest, most delicious salsa--which I devoured! For my meal I had the Huaraches El Paso: huaraches(masa dough with smashed pinto beans) topped with lettuce, tomato, avocado, cheese, steak and cactus! What?!! I loved it! I had never tried cactus and it was very good and complemented the steak. Service was prompt and genuinely friendly. The prices are so reasonable and the portions most generous. I am most definitely planning a return asap for another great meal!

In the center of Plainville hidden away, I found El Paso Mexican Restaurant. This little store front is actually a good size restaurant and bar. Tables were covered in colorful Mexican cloths and walls painted bright and fun. This sure was a nice little surprise taco Tuesday spot for me. There were only a few customers so we were instantly greeted and served with chips and salsa. The salsa was super fresh loaded with cilantro and diced onion. For my entree, i got the chicken burrito with rice, lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole, and sour cream. And since it was Taco Tuesday, I also ordered the birrira tacos which had 3 tacos, a side of hot sauce and guacamole. Those were really good. Everything came out really fast and the server was nice. To wash it all down, I sipped on a classic margarita served in a cute cactus glass. For dessert we tried the homemade tres leches cake, a sponge cake drenched in a thick cream sauce and melted in our mouths.

From out of town and we were very glad we stopped here. I had the quesadilla with el pastor. My wife had a mole enchilada and we both loved our meals. The service was friendly and got our orders right. Really great service. And the ambiance was store front simplicity but decorated with deliberate care. Not pretentious but fun and festive!

I opted to order a couple tacos to-go and try their chicken and mole tamale on special. Wow!! The proteins were cooked perfectly with flavor - so all the taco needed was cilantro and onion - like they are supposed to be done. The tamale was probably the best I have ever had. Using a black mole inside the tamale the chicken was moist and tender. My favorite value was the salsa bar - at no additional cost you can choose from about 6 different salsas, from a variety of spicy levels and flavors. Also included is Jalepano, radishes and some other small things. A great idea that adds true value to the customer. Overall this is a taqueria that I will drive to!!! When I am in the mood for tacos I am here. I should also mention they do have a full Mexican menu with entrees and such. So many items to try to keep you coming back.

Sparse decoration and the kitchen takes up a majority of the tiny space. There are tables, but it's very much a To-go place. We ordered some tamales, some tacos and some chips. Went to the salsa bar and got a bunch of sauces to try. Drove to a parking lot to take pics and dig in. The tacos were a little overcooked and under seasoned. They tasted good and were dressed simply. They all needed salsa to really shine. The chorizo was the best bite. Just enough spice and seasoning to stand well on its own. The weakest being the ground beef, which was dry and not seasoned beef. The tamale was good, cooked in a banana leaf, good masa and the mole filling was hot and sweet which chicken used as the protein. A well balanced bite. The chips and salsa were basic but plentiful. Price was reasonable given the quality. It's not a date night Mexican place. It's a place for regular folk to get decent Mexican fare at decent prices, good portions, and basic but executed well tacos. It's great for those who are around the area, but not a space I would try to hunt down

Greeted warmly by our server, the coffee was served and it was fresh and delicious. I drink mine in black and I could taste the flavors. Some of the best coffee I've had in a long time. Diner style and delicious. I ordered the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on an English muffin. The egg was perfectly fried, along with the white American cheese, and tasteful bacon. Unfortunately, the bacon missed the mark, as it wasn't crispy. It was soggy. And the English muffin was very small and un toasted. It seemed to me like it was microwaved. How can you not toast an English muffin? So the sandwich itself was not solid whatsoever. But looking around at the breakfast platters, they look delicious and all of my friends seem to enjoy what they ordered. So just a quick note to the owners and the chef and the cooks, toast, the damn English muffin, please!
