I've had lomo saltado from here once before. It's been great both times but this time I got takeout which resulted in the sauce spilling all over the bag (something to be mindful of!). I enjoyed the dish, and the takeout experience was pleasant but I did take a star off because there were no utensils in my bag even though I made that request when I called. I was picking up from an outdoor event and had to go back to grab some which was a bit annoying. I thought the taste of the dish was great. The steak was tender and I like my sauce on the sweeter side so I was happy. The rice wasn't nauseatingly fluffy which I was wearing of because I've been having that issue with a lot of places recently. The service was good, but as soon as you step into the restaurant theres a very strong smell of mildew and that immediately threw me off but we were in a large group so we stayed. We ordered a bunch of food and it didn't take too long to come out, we had multiple rounds of drinks and the pacing on refills was also good. The main problem was the food. Most of the food was ok. I ordered lomo saltado a lo pobre and my husband ordered chupe de camarones. My dish was pretty good. The steak and eggs were over cooked unfortunately but again the meal was fine. My husband's chupe however was really not good. The shrimp was very overcooked, the broth was bland and oily and thin. He ate his egg and left the rest alone. All the dishes were pretty expensive so we asked to have our soup comped but we were told we could not because the waitress asked twice is everything was OK and my husband didn't say anything til the end (although I feel that if someone isn't touching their food it's usually a sign). Feels like a strange rule but i did honestly deduct 1 star because of this. The menu is large and expensive, so it does feel like a gamble if something is that bad but we still cant get 1 in 7 entrees comped. I was a regular at this spot about a decade ago when it was a great Indian place. I figured I'd pop in again today as I was in the area and was surprised to see it's a Peruvian place. Since I'd parked, I figured I'd give it a try. Overall a good decision. First, they bring out the little cancha nuts and what I think was an aji verde (though it wasn't very green). Both came in little bowls and harken me back to plenty of other Peruvian places that offer the two as a quick snack. I've always loved the two together and this was no exception. While not very green, the sauce had a nice punch and creaminess and was very tasty. For the meal, I ordered the grilled bisteca. There was no real description of what came with it, but it came out on a huge plate with a salad, rice and fries. They also brought out a white sauce that worked very well with all of what was on the plate. The steak was not a thick cut, but was very well cooked and perfectly medium rare. It was very tasty with some chimichuri on top. For $20 this seems a steal in this market, even with the fries being a bit underdone. FWIW, the ambiance of the place really hasn't changed in 10+ years from when it was the Indian restaurant. The service was ok though I couldn't find the waitress to tell her I was leaving when I finished (I had gotten my check much earlier in the meal and was paying cash). I'd definitely go back here if in the area though parking can be tough at times. If you're in the area, this place is worth checking out. read more

I called in the morning to place mine and a friend's order ahead so that it would be ready for a certain hour. I was meeting a friend and I only had so much time for my lunch break. They delivered so well! Our server was very kind. Although he was working the whole floor by himself he was very composed. They were relatively quiet but it really shows that they're busy and a popular choice for lunch. The flavor to this tallarin is so good! Ask for the sauces although it doesn't really need it but it's still good to have options. I couldn't stop eating. I literally had to remind myself that I had to go back to work quickly. We were driving down Franklin Avenue in Hartford and trying to decide between Italian or Latin. We decided we'd take a card left on Park Street, but we remembered that on a similar ride we noticed El Rinconcito PERUANO (hey Yelp, you have the name wrong) and decided that we should go by and see if they were open. A very quaint interior, the place was empty, but they had a TV on featuring a concert. Music was definitely great! It was a little after 6 and realize we're in a pandemic, but we wondered why the place wasn't busy... WELL... Busy or Empty-has nothing to do with the food. In fact, we're unsure if we want everyone to come here and take our space. The food came out quickly, and we were salivating! We ordered: bistec encebellado , Chaufa mixto and platanos maduros. Heaven was in every.bite. The food was FRESH!! The Chaufa mixto had beef, chicken and shrimp. We were pleasantly surprised that bean sprouts were thrown in and in speaking with our server he spoke a little about the Asian influence on Peruvian cuisine, which we loved. The bistec came with potatoes that we think were boiled and then lightly fried-magnificent! The platanos Maduros made us wonder if they were prepared in an air fryer: the tenderness, texture, sweetness were perfection. There were 2 condiments: a hot sauce and a green one that we neglected to get the name of BUT because we will be back, we will not only order again, but also make sure to get extra green sauce!! Cost: $$ Service: 10/10 We loved our server who greeted us in Spanish and gave us some history. Drinks: 9/10- it's only a 9/10 because we had a coke and Inca cola which isn't organic of the business. I came because I saw the total of 4 stars but this place doesn't deserve it. The food is just okay nothing exceptional. We stopped by with my family because we were driving by and saw it while in Hartford. We had never been/ seen it but the nice waitress told us they had been around for about three years. The waitress was very sweet and we went on a rainy day and there were only about four families us included in the restaurant. The food was okay. I gave it four stars because it was well seasoned but it came out a little cold and we ordered Anticucho con Rachi but as you see got regular anticuchos which we were fine with until we realized we got charged the up charge for the Rachi we didn't get. We had to run so we just left it as is. I do have to say their ahi verde or green sauce is second to none! By far the best I've had. The restaurant itself seems small until you realize there is a whole ballroom that could be rented in the back. One final thing to keep in mind is that the tip and tax are included in the bill! We saw 16 and change added to the bill and CT taxes are high but not that high so the waitress told us that service was included in that. read more

I was hoping to experience the same as the great reviews I read prior to coming here. Unfortunately, it was not the case, the ceviche was horrible. Taste like it was in the fridge a day old, not fresh. I ask for mild spice , it had no flavor with ice cold sweat potato and corn in the dish. They had no liquor to order a drink and that was another unfortunate experience. I hope they take the time to create their dishes fresh with a lot more seasoning. This restaurant came to me with good reviews. I wanted to try a Peruvian restaurant. The Ceviche was AWESOME, but it ended there. Calamari was way over cooked and rubbery. The stuffed mussels had so much red onions on them, you could not taste the mussels. Their bar was empty except for bottled beer. The breaded steak was tasty but dry, and the rice and beans? The beans tasted like an overload of oregano. I gave it two stars because the Ceviche was that good, and I wish everything else was as good. To end the dinner, they add a customer service charge of 5% to the bill. I was hopeful for a much better experience. read more
