    Main dish for $37
    Sofia D.

Unbelievably expensive, and slow service. I was promised 10-15 minutes food for take out, but ended up waiting for 40 minutes. I paid $80 for 2 soups and one meat dish. The main dish mainly was consisted from rice and French fries. The soups were good, but the main dish very ordinary rice and fries definitely not worth $37

    Causa de pulpo

A Peruvian place that took the place of two other restaurants that I liked in that building. I had to try it. It was a slow Wednesday night with 3 tables tops. I ordered the $25 combo with the chaufa de mariscos (seafood fried rice) and the causa de pulpo (octopus with cold mashed potato and olive sauce). For drinks, I had the chicha--a small glass for $4. I ordered the alfajores (short bread cookie with caramel) to go $6. I usually get the red onion salad with my meals when I go to other places but this one was a la carte so I ordered it $3. It was so worth it! I didn't love the causa, mostly ate the protein because I've never had it with that olive sauce. Or am I dreaming? I'm Used to another sauce. The alfajores was fresh but needed more of the caramel flavor. Their two sauces that come with the corn app is a spicy red sauce and a yellowish sauce (which I thought went with the causa). Anyway, I was looking for the green sauce too but I guess everyone is different. The servers were super nice but had to use google translate since my Spanish has left me a long time ago. I will definitely come back to try the other dishes.

We actually didn't know anything about and what they served. Inside was beautifully decorated and we were seated quickly. We looked at the menu and saw they served Peruvian food. We never had it. We started with the trio empanadas and each one was delicious. If I had to choose one I pick the chicken as the top empanada. I didn't know what to order for the entree and the waiter recommended the Seco De Tría and Lomo Saltado. One was a short rib and the other was a beef stir fry. Both were very delicious! The waiter was very attentive and friendly. I would definitely come back here again.

The beef empanadas were flavorful and satisfying, while the cheese and guava had more of a sweet, dessert-like vibe, which was a nice surprise. Both were delicious in their own way. I also loved the roasted corn they serve at the table. It is such a great touch. The dipping sauce had a nice little kick to it that added extra flavor without being overwhelming. The space itself is beautifully decorated, creating a really inviting atmosphere, and they even have a drive through, which is super convenient. On top of it all, the service was excellent. I would definitely come back, even if it is just for a quick bite again!

Before the…read moreevent, we stopped by the Parkville Market, a bustling food hall featuring incredible ethnic food from numerous countries. Picking a place to eat was a challenge with so many delicious options, but after exploring, I decided on Mercado 27, a Peruvian restaurant offering a taste of authentic Peruvian cuisine. Mercado 27 draws inspiration from the rich culinary traditions of Peru, showcasing classic dishes that highlight bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and deep cultural roots. The restaurant's name, "Mercado," nods to Peru's vibrant marketplaces, which are central to its food culture, and "27" reflects its position as one of the standout vendors in the food hall. I ordered the Pollo Saltado. A savory dish featuring sautéed chicken, onions, and tomatoes, served with crispy fries and fluffy white rice. The meal, priced at $17.00, was hearty and flavorful, offering a perfect balance of textures and spices. To complement the main dish, I added two sides: Sweet Plantains ($5.00) and Fried Yuca ($6.00), both prepared to perfection. The plantains were caramelized and sweet, while the yuca was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, delivering a satisfying crunch. For my drink, I chose a 16oz Chicha Morada ($5.00), a traditional Peruvian beverage with a deep purple hue. Made from dried purple corn, fruits, and spices, this natural juice was refreshing and subtly sweet, a perfect accompaniment to the meal. Chicha Morada's unique flavor transported me to the Andean regions of Peru, where the drink originated. The ambiance at Mercado 27 was inviting and vibrant, fitting for its location within the lively Parkville Market. The space was filled with energy from fellow diners enjoying a diverse range of cuisines. The décor was simple yet modern, allowing the food to take center stage. The service was excellent, with our server, Alejandra, providing attentive and friendly care throughout our visit. She patiently explained the menu items and even recommended the sides and drink that I thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, Mercado 27 delivered an exceptional dining experience that added to the excitement of our trip. The combination of authentic flavors, warm service, and the lively atmosphere made it a memorable stop before heading to the concert.

There is also balcony seating that was unused while we were there, maybe that could be semi-private space for a little party too. Great playlist as well. Lived it all!!! I enjoyed the dish, and the takeout experience was pleasant but I did take a star off because there were no utensils in my bag even though I made that request when I called. We ordered a bunch of food and it didn't take too long to come out, we had multiple rounds of drinks and the pacing on refills was also good. The main problem was the food. Most of the food was ok. I ordered lomo saltado a lo pobre and my husband ordered chupe de camarones. My dish was pretty good. The steak and eggs were over cooked unfortunately but again the meal was fine. My husband's chupe however was really not good. The shrimp was very overcooked, the broth was bland and oily and thin. He ate his egg and left the rest alone. All the dishes were pretty expensive so we asked to have our soup comped but we were told we could not because the waitress asked twice is everything was OK and my husband didn't say anything til the end (although I feel that if someone isn't touching their food it's usually a sign). Feels like a strange rule but i did honestly deduct 1 star because of this. The menu is large and expensive, so it does feel like a gamble if something is that bad but we still cant get 1 in 7 entrees comped. We are a peruvian family (6 adults) and we all felt similarly.

They didn't open, so the girlfriend and I needed to pull an audible. Went to the highest rated location near us, and found this place. First thing, this place is a night club. It's layout, the decor, the wait staff, the music playing, the metal detector in the front, and the dj stand. Everything about this place screams modern night club trying to get through covid. Thing is, this is a place that's making lemonade out of lemons. The staff are extremely friendly, the food service took a while but they kept the bread stocked. The breads this dense but soft inside. Kind of like a soft pretzel without the salt. When the food does come, it's awesome! Everything brought the flavor, nothing was under seasoned and the portions were large. Tacos were stacked with perfectly braised beef with ample toppings which all had a distinct and pronounced flavor. The chiveche was piled high with a limey, salty, savory bite. The fish was fresh, and the fried octopus was perfectly crisp and tender. The crepe was well executed, but it was kind of general. Bananas and Nutella, not much to say. I would've liked the bananas warmer, maybe a little burlee of sugar on the top of each to give it a sweet crisp? It was tasty, I just wanted a little more. Price was a little high, but the food coming out from the kitchen along with the portion makes it worth it. It does take a while, so be prepared for a wait. But now I can say that I had brunch at the night club, and that's a pretty awesome memory. That and the food is good, so if you want a funky place for great peruvian food, go hunt this place down!
